I visited here on a business trip. Lovely little place with a welcoming atmosphere. The wine list means I'll definitely be back, when I can do it justice (damn dry January)The starter was calamari, with rather than dried up, chewy nonsense, this was in a tomato sauce, perfectly cooked and full of flavour.Main was ravioli of porcini in a truffle butter sauce. It was divine.

Booked this after looking online and it wasn't at all what I expected. Midweek dinner with a friend visiting London. Slightly scary wine list (prices starting at £60!) but ordered a glass of Ripasso which was really good and very reasonable. Shared starters of bruschetta (nicest I have tasted outside of Italy!) and fresh calamari which was delicious.Pasta main course with clams was tasty but the spaghetti could have done with slightly more cooking which we thought was strange as it is freshly made and so usually faster to cook? I'm sure we could have asked for it to be cooked more as the staff were very accommodating. The restaurant is really ordinary-looking from he outside but the food, atmosphere and service make it feel very special on the inside! Probably advisable to book as there aren't many tables.

Visited London over the weekend of 17th-18th December 2016 so thought I would treat the other half to an Italian meal before seeing Thriller at the Lyric Theatre.I telephoned on Thursday 15th December at 19:30 (my number ends in 428 if you want to check your logs) to reserve a table for two at 18:30. The lady took my name and number and there were no problems with the booking. We then visited the restaurant on said Saturday and surprise surprise the front of house didn't have my booking details. Was there another table we could sit? Of course not. The best the restaurant could offer was a table downstairs away from the ambiance and within the fridges, toiles and plumbing. We reluctantly agreed.I then said I will be using my Tastecard. The waiter said that this couldn't be used as I didn't make a reservation (ironic!) and because it was the weekend (which was contray to the Tastecard webiste which states anytime including December)As soon as that was said we both had enough and walked out and visited Pizza Express around the corner. A chain but we were guarenteed a service with a smile. Can't comment on the food but unfortunately we were very annoyed at that point.Never visiting again. Book at your own risk.

I visited this small restaurant with three friends. It was a great evening. The starters were all excellent, however the mains were one step beyond! Two of the party thoroughly enjoyed the "elephants ear" veal. I had the pleasure of the Ravioli Montebianco...absolutely wonderful. The pasta, perfectly cooked, was filled with shell fish and was accompanied by prawns, mussels and squid, all in a fabulous broth. The wine list was limited but my friends found one which they thoroughly enjoyed. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. I would suggest not visiting here to have a quick meal but to have the time to enjoy fabulous Italian cooking! We will return soon.

We found this restaurant through Tastecard and we were absolutely thrilled with it. Real old fashioned homely Italian, with every course delicious. I had the shared mussels starter, the buccatini with mushrooms then the tiramisu. The waiter was charming and the talented cook friendly. The place is certainly not pretentious, and we loved it for that. The prices were reasonable, especially with Tastecard. My only gripe was that the red wine was served far too cold. We had to ask for a jug of boiling water, to enjoy what became a delicious piedmont.

First of all, disregarding the rating of the review, I encourage you to read only reviews of the last 5 months. The place has been recently refurbished, has a new manager and new staff. As to our experience... well, I cannot not give it 5 stars! This is definitely in our top 3 places in London in terms of value for money. We had lunch in 5 adults and a child: one bottle of wine (a Negroamaro, which I would highly reccomend), antipasti selection of salami, ham..., gnocco fritto, four bruschette, three gnochetti with octopus, one spaghetti with Bolognese sauce (divine), one parmigiana, four tiramisu` (best so far in London, creamy and yellow), four coffees... all for only around £125. Quick service with cosy and genuine Italian atmosphere. I'd especially like to thank our waitress Mariachiara, for her professionalism and hospitality. We will surely go back again and again.

During my meal I felt like the whole team at the Trattoria just wanted us to have a very good dining experience. The menu was explained to us and we had a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. They asked us to try taste 2 of the wines they were considering using as their house wine. Then they asked if we wanted to stay at the end as they had a guest chef in teaching them a new pork dish. So we stayed and were treated to a free dish which was absolutely delicious. Our waiter (wish I caught his name) was brilliant, the food very tasty (akin to the many meals I've had in Italy) and the small minimalist restaurant was a nice atmosphere. The restaurant is only open 2 months- would definitely return next time I'm in London.

We walked in with no reservation and were given a table. I was happy to see that the menu did not have a ridiculously huge number of dishes on it. I think that when a menu only has a smaller number of choices the food will be well prepared and tasty. We were not disappointed. The only slight criticism would be that we were not told about the specials when we arrived. The owner told us on the way out that he has different specials each day depending on ingredients available. We will return next time we go to London

Also, I had lunch there twice and the mussels are great! The soft cake with cream, delicious! The brownie is tasty, dry to the right point! Unfortunately, I cannot remember the other dishes I had but I remember that all of them tasted as really authentic Italian ones (I've Italian background and I've traveled Italy a bit)... Also, the environment is simple and the food as well which is how Italian trattorias are supposed to be, cozy with that home feeling and with simple well-made food! Not that overcooked pasta that you guys have here or that dirty water you guys call coffee! This place is my life savor when I need to feel home and close to my family...

My husband and I only dropped in for a cup of tea en route to a business lunch, but were enchanted the warmth of Maria's welcome, Vivaldi as background music and the free cake that came with the tea. Although we never expected to return, we checked out the menu - and entranced by it. It was short but fascinatingly formed, with a strong regional emphasis. We left with the fondest of ciaos. And then the fairy-tale got under way in earnest. The business lunch caterers failed to deliver - leaving our hosts in the lurch. Naturally we herded everyone back to the lovely trattoria. They didn't let us down, reorganising the seating and producing heavenly food with the shortest of notice. I'd have eaten my way from starter to dessert, but in fact we puritanically opted for mains only. There was no disagreement: this was amazing home-cooked food prepared by someone who loved food. The house wine was drinkable and inexpensive. Only one of us succumbed to the temptation of chocolate cake, but we all had to restrain ourselves from grabbing spoons and digging in. What a treat! We're not in London often, but if you are, head for this tiny gem of a trattoria.

Having read the reviews previously posted, we arrived with high expectations of a great meal and were left extremely disappointed. The ravioli was chewy and tasteless. each course was just uninspiring and arrived at the table cold, partially because the plates had not been warmed. Service was quite slow but it was a Saturday evening and fairly busy. Having eaten some wonderful meals in Italy, at varying price levels, I expected well-cooked traditional Italian fare but left wondering who would ever want to visit a second time. On the plus side, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Poor marks are entirely down to the standard of cooking.

This used to be a cosy, traditional Italian but it has changed hands and is now unrecognisable. I don't know if they'd re-opened whilst still in the building site phase, or whether I was sitting in the worst attempt at industrial chic I've ever seen - I honestly couldn't tell. But it was stark, cold and extremely shabby. The menu is in Italian which is fine but there are no descriptions as to what the dishes are so we had to google everything but the obvious dishes. We had to ask three times for the bottle of wine we ordered, even though we were the only ones there. As for the food, the majority of dishes didn't taste too bad but no effort was made to make them restaurant/ bistro quality and looked like something you'd cook for yourself in cheap student digs. My friend ordered lasagne: It was just a square of dry lasagne plonked into a pasta bowl. No garnish, no side dishes offered - not even a grind of black pepper or sprinkling of Parmesan. My seafood ravioli looked better but tasted only of salt. The whole experience was so depressing. Won't be returning, sadly.

First of all, Ladies and Gentlemen, I present my credentials: I travel a lot in Northern Italy, my wife is Italian, I have, as my reviews may testify, eaten in some great Italian restaurants. In Italy. But not often in London. However, on the corner of Cleveland Street and Grafton Way is a small restaurant called Trattoria Monte Bianco. We had a table outside, on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The staff were delightful. The menu is as honest as you will find in my beloved hometown. The dishes with expensive ingredients were dearer. The cheap ingredients were inexpensive, the fancy stuff was pricier but not exorbitant. We had squid to start, then, while my wife picked some rather obscure pasta dish, which she loved, I went for fish-filled ravioli with mussels and clams, served on a rather yummy seafood sauce, it was quite simply one of the best Italian dishes I have eaten in London. Desert was rather clever too. Coffee was on the house, the house wine was drinkable and inexpensive, we will return. Oh, please don't go on a sunny Sunday, when Fitzrovia is at its best - well, go, but don't take a table outside, or there might not be one free for me.

Some restaurants make such a big deal about things like this saying it'll be extra or that they don't do it. Not here though. Wine was good too. We're thinking of heading back there again soon. Definitely give it a try.

I was there for a meeting including a guy who is a regular at this restaurant and I am sure that helped. I was soon convinced that everyone is treated as a regular - an Italian trait of sheer friendliness. The atmosphere was laid back but that didn't detract from the service which was good. The waiter was only too pleased to help without being pushy - other restaurants please copy. There were four of us, starting with a shared mixed fish dish - squid, whitebait etc. We then all had different main courses - everyone enjoyed theirs and they were good value for that part of London. Just a stone's throw from some of London's major tourist attractions but so much better value than the restaurants close by.I have an interest in wine but didn't know the house red - beware, it was a powerhouse at 14.5%, but an excellent choice.Altogether a very enjoyable, relaxed, experience which I hope to repeat.Give it a go - you won't regret it.

Been here a couple of times when staying in London. It's great - only about 18 seats, traditional food with friendly service, authentic food and reasonably priced. Highly recommend it and only 30 feet from a brilliant sports bar - Jetlag. Sweet!

Just had a great Christmas lunch, the service was second to none, the food fantastic. We arrived early but the host made us welcome and seated us whilst he brought the drinks. We had the Montepulciano which was extremely mellow for the price. After choosing our meal the waiter brought a surprise starter, Calamari, whitebait, scallops, assorted antipasto and two sorts of mussels. One with garlic and one without as one of our party was allergic.Main courses ranged from Ossobuco to Lamb shanks which were divine. The finishing touch was an assortment of Ferrero Roche before leaving.I will return

We went there with a friend who is a regular customer of this restaurant. We enjoyed the meals and the owner was very friendly. We paid a very reasonable price as our friend got a great deals since our friend is a regular. They have quite some regulars who feel like their home and they stayed for drinks and chat with the owners and other regulars. Overall, everything was good during our meals and we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere.

I went today with 7 of my work colleagues and we had booked in advance. When we arrived the table had not been set for 8 and they had to push the tables together and it seemed that we had just woken up the waiter. Despite being the only party in the restaurant we were huddled together at the table. The pizzas were small with minimal topping. The expensive steak was cooked adequately but small and the vegetables were just warmed up as were the potatoes. The piece de resistance was the desserts. They could not supply vanilla ice cream on its own and the assorted ice cream was collected from the basement in a bucket and all prefrozen together. Nobody could detect what flavours they were. I think one of the flavours was pistachio and they should have warned of that because of possible nut allergies. The free wine was delivered grudgingly and the waiter did not seem to understand anything we were talking about. He also leaned across my colleagues who were still eating to collect the plates of those that had finished. Poor etiquette indeed. If you want my advice, give this one a miss

We found them open on a Sunday night when everything else was either packed or closed. They were able to seat us despite closing relatively soon. Food was good and came reasonably quickly. The decor was cluttered and fairly junky with flashing twinkle lights, but don't judge the book by that cover.

My partner and I visited this restaurant this evening. We were looking for somewhere simple, quick and tasty! We thought the restaurant looked quite sweet from the outside. We could not have been more wrong sadly. My partners pizza was tiny, burnt and very oddly shaped with little flavour. My Carbonara was swimming in cream and had no taste to it. The "bacon" was in fact very cheap looking ham...almost indelible. We were charged nearly £40 and the waiter had added a 10% tip on for us without asking. I had mineral water and my partner had one beer. The meal was a complete rip off...I have never had a worse Italian food. It leaves me absolutely livid that a place like this can exist! Please do not waste your time visiting here, I wish I had read reviews before going. We could have saved ourselves money and I would not have had to come home and eat cereal to fill myself up!

We've been there on a Friday evening, party of three. Friendly and colourful ambience. However, the food is only on average; thus the pricing seems to high.

It was nice to sit outside, but the food was a bit of a let down.We ordered bruschetta, which was a lot of filling and not much bread, and two standard pasta dishes - penne aribiatta and spaghetti with meatballs. They arrived prompty despite the waiter (owner) saying we ate very quickly! They were just average.I would agree with another reviewer that some tables are treated better than others, a table with 4 ladies on were offered free bruschetta! We certainly paid for ours, and a glass of wine was expensive too, or on reflection our bill was incorrect.Wouldn't rush back, there are better ones in the area

I had very high hopes after reading some reviews only to be very disappointed by the food it was not good at all. The waiter asked if we wanted bread we said yes but it turned out that it cost £8 and he didn't tell us. The food was overly salty, and the ravioli I had was cold and dry, I would not recommend visiting.

When I eat at an outside table I don't expect my waiter to stand at the next table for a fag break. Our disapproval seemed to go over his head! Also the ice cream medley served seemed to have been put in the dish weeks in advance and then put back in the freezer .. it had large lumps of ice in it and was frozen solid. Having to ask for the bill three times while regulars were served meant I didn't book dinner for out party in the evening .. which had been our intention as this place looked so nice.

Visited this little Italian restaurant with a good friend who knew both the restaurant and owner well. The decor is bright and colourful, the ambience intimate. I just had a main course of grilled tuna which was delicious and the bottle of chianti, not all to myself, but lovely. I will return there for sure when I want an unpretentious meal in a lovely setting. Thank you Roberto!

What a weird evening at this trattoria. At the start of the dining experience, when I asked the waiter to specify an ingredient in a dish or to tell me the specials because I couldn't see the chalkboard, he scoffed at me and offered curt replies that did not really answer my questions (example: "Does this sauce have meat in it?" "It's made with tomato, okay?"). When my meal was put on the table and I looked down in front of me, I was literally shocked, and also embarrassed for the restaurant and for myself. It's a pretty big achievement if a restaurant can make you feel embarrassed for eating there. I actually looked around sheepishly to see if any of the other diners had witnessed my food being plopped in front of me; mortifyingly, they had. The plating was beyond unappealing, looking as though the cook had dumped my raviolis willy-nilly onto the plate, with no garnish. The pasta looked dehydrated from lack of sauce. I took one tentative bite and could immediately taste that the lukewarm noodles had not been freshly cooked, but reheated. The ricotta inside the ravioli pillows was surprisingly grainy. And it really just tasted like something frozen you might pick up at the supermarket to cook at home -- and looked even worse. It is not surprising to me that this establishment has earned uneven reviews, because, quite frankly, I was treated differently than other diners. The table next to me was pampered throughout their meal, received fancy plating for their dishes, and the waiter engaged them in witty banter. They received a complimentary bread basket before their meal, which I did not (despite ordering an appetizer and main dish, and plenty of -- unsavory -- wine). It was clear to me as I surveyed the room during my meal that the waiter simply selected some tables to treat well and others to treat poorly. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky patrons that receives gracious treatment and an edible meal, but I wouldn't risk it!

i went here with my 5 year old daughter on a weekend in London thinking it was going to be good food, nice atmosphere and not too expensive. We were served extremely basic food - i asked for carbonara, they gave us penne with cream. they splashed a bit of house red wine in my glass, and the deserts were straight out of a packet. For the privilege they charged me £37! for one and a half plates of basic pasta, a tiny glass of wine from an opened bottle, and 2 very gloopy deserts. They even joked that they were offended when my daughter didn't finish her meal, because it tasted so bad. we ended up having to buy some snacks from the local supermarket to fill us up. I was very disappointed that people would think it was ok to charge such an extortionate amount to a mother and daughter who were clearly just trying to have a nice evening. i felt ripped off.

Located in the Fitzrovia area of London. Friendly host, good food, reasonably priced. Small dinning room makes it a comfortable place to enjoy a glass of wine and talk without shouting . Will put it on my list for the next time I am in London .

I came across this little gem on a Friday evening. The restaurant can seat about 25 so it is tiny but very cosy. The food was very good, a little rich perhaps and the service was warm friendly and excellent. On talking to the waiter, the restaurant has been there 25 years. I am sure it will be there for another 25 years.

Mangiare a Londra come sentirsi in Italia.

Great atmosphere and wonderful food. Main servings were a very generous size. But the Ravioli was amazing. We ended up having so much Limoncello that we were just given the bottle. Overall the service was beyond genuine. That kind of service you only experience when someone has been running a restaurant for decades.

A total rip off! Admittedly, this is a tapas bar so to be expected but the quantities served barely amount to £15 on the £75 menu, The presentation was certainly not refined to reflect the price, As for the desserts, nothing was fresh to the point that someone in our party even spat out the cheese cake, Just looking at the menu I did expect it to be disappointing and it lived to its expectations.
