Umberto's Resturant in Havering

One of the worst Italian restaurant in Essex, service was slow and food was crap, wrong food was served to our table, when we complained they took 45 minute to get our correct order

Lovely food. Steak cooked to perfection, lively friendly staff ..would recommend for any occasion or just a night out..

What an incredible addition this authentic Italian restaurant is to Hornchurch. Our evening was flawless from beginning to end. Even before our reservation, they were accommodating, adjusting our booking twice due to a delayed kids' football tournament. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted, and our attentive server, whose name we unfortunately didn't catch, presented us with an enticing specials board featuring a variety of mouthwatering dishes. He expertly described each dish, detailing its ingredients and preparation methods. Despite two members of our party having allergies, the staff handled our dietary restrictions with care and professionalism, ensuring each meal was tailored accordingly. Every dish we ordered was exceptional, matched by outstanding service. This place is truly a gem, and we're already looking forward to returning.

Fantastic and memorable meal for my partners birthday. A hidden gem that we will definitely return to in future. Warm, attentive service and delicious, proper Italian food.

Having heard so much about this restaurant and having eaten Italian for many years I was keen to sample their food.

Well what can I say.... disgusting and shocking. I had to give it a rating of 1 star but trust me that's being highly generous!! So angry as I was recommended this s**t by a close friend. 1st and last visit ever, I expected so high yet all we got was a tasteless bowl of plain pasta & seafood linguine i would have rather eaten McDonald's and that's no joke. Service was astonishing and to make things worse the bowl used for my bread was then taken away and used for another couple without being washed!!! Dirty glasses were left on the side for over 2 hours and then because I made a complaint the staff then rudely tried to rush me out. Whether it was an off day or whatever... I honestly expected more from a traditional ITALIAN restaurant!!!!

This restaurant has been here for years yet no one seems to know of it except of course their regulars which there seems to be many. A family business always keen to give you perfect service, it is a little more expensive than its neighbours but a great place.

Fantastic home cooked food served by proper Italians.Service impeccable and amazing quality, lovely background italian music very authentic.

Phoned to book a table 30 minutes before we wanted to eat on a Saturday evening and they managed to squeeze us in. I can't praise this place enough, all the staff were extremely friendly and it felt like they wanted to be there rather than it was just their job. They all knew the menu down to a t and when shown the specials board every single option was explained in great detail which was a lovely touch instead of some student just reading a list of meals off of a board. The food was great and the atmosphere was very warm and friendly. GET THE PIGEON IF IT'S ON THE SPECIALS!!!!

I visited this restaurant many years ago and was very disappointed with the food and poor service by elderly bored members of staff. I said at the time I would never return !!!However, a very good friend invited my wife and I for a meal. Not wanting to disappoint our close friend we gave it another try.The staff were younger and more enthusiastic. The decor seemed brighter and lighter than before. The food was good. Another big plus to us (maybe not to everyone) was the fact that there was no loud music and we could sit and enjoy our meal and have a chat without shouting and straining our ears and throat. A lovely change to many other restaurants we have recently frequented.We will definitely return.

A group of 8 enjoyed our meal in this cosy restaurant. Mid week there were only 2 other tables occupied. The staff were very friendly and informative about the delicious Italian food. The entrance is a bit difficult to find - down an alleyway from the High Street, or off the car park from the rear - but it's worth it once you're inside.

What a lovely , family-run restaurant. Felt to make welcome and the food was excellent. The waiter was very friendly indeed and we had the pleasure of meeting the family who run the restaurant. Delightful interior, lovely people, and a great atmosphere. You miss out if you don't try this lovely eatery.

Very tasty food with attentive service. Wide range of items on the menu with many specials detailed on the night. Very cosy inside. Recommended to try!

My wife and I dined here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Immediately you enter there is a feeling of warmth and welcome.The decor is traditional painted plaster walls with original oak beams and panels,adding to the feeling of comfort and well being before you even see the menu and 'specials' board.From quite an extensive choice we chose starters and main courses, which were freshly prepared, served promptly and quite deliciousWe weren't bothered by too much "is everything OK Sir", but the staff were always there when we wanted them.A thoroughly civilised and enjoyable place, well worth a visit.

First visit for umbertos and was very disappointed as was very expensive! Small portions, and better quality food at other Italian restaurants in hornchurch and Upminster. Our bill came to over £300 for 6 people for starter and main including 8 soft drinks, 2 pints and 1 bottle of wine would absolutely never recommend. We are not in the west end we are in hornchurch.

. Dined here prior to visit to Queen's theatre and had limited time. Advised Antonio of this, and it was no problem at all. The service was excellent and attentive and the food was delicious, atmosphere great and cost reasonable. This was our first visit to Umberto's but definitely won't be the last.

A truly great Italian & it's within walking distance... Can't ask for better than that !! Superb food & service from this family run restaurant in very pleasant surroundings. Never fails to please.
