The best restaurants serving Italian food in South Tyneside North East

Came in for a work meeting. service was excellent, especially by Liam. Food was quality. Would recommend highly, as it’s so warming inside

We’ve found Italian takeaways lack a variety unless you want pizzas. With this in mind we revisited Gallo Neros menu on an eats app. They have a lot of other Italian meals listed so we went for Fajita Alforno and Kapsalon to share. The delivery was on time and hot, ready to eat. I ate mine straight away and it was tasty, but there was something missing in the overall taste for me. My husband said a similar thing, he enjoyed it but would try something different if we order again.

The pizza order was made fresh whilst we waited and we didn’t wait too long. There are seats to sit. The shop was clean. There were cold drinks in the fridge. The staff were friendly and happy to tell you what offers were available and what the best deal was. We will return.

The premises used to be a typical old fashioned fish and chip shop when I was a child, so it was nice to try the new version called Shergills. The menu now is massive to suit all types of tastes now (pizzas, kebabs etc weren’t available when I was a child.) We ordered using their own site and it kept us informed of its progress via email. The fish, chips and battered sausage arrived quickly and hot. The amount of chips sometimes doesn’t mean they’re nice but we loved these chips. We’d asked for salt and vinegar and batter in the anything to add box on their website, but they mustn’t have read it. I loved the fish, bright white and tasty but wasn’t a lover of the batter.

A party of 20 for a special birthday family celebration. Booked in advance. Sent orders in advance. What a shambles. Service was slow and poor, food came out with long periods between each diners meal resulting in some sitting for ages waiting for their food whilst others finished theirs. . Food was awful except pizzas and garlic breads and salad. Manager was uncooperative when discussing issues. When food was sent back it was recooked not replaced. Atmosphere was flat. Not recommended.

Collected my order & staff were very helpful and assisted me promptly. Food was delicious & very well priced: will most certainly be back :) Thankyou

Disgusting Takeaway. Found clumps of dirty hair in the kebab, the whole family was put off from eating there food, the company owner refused to give us a full refund and said it didn't come from there which they know is a total lie. The owner from the start was rude and said at one stage 'its always new customers like you that complain'.

Without doubt the worst service I have ever encountered in a restaurant. Condescending attitude and the server watched over the table like a owl as we were the only people in (not surprising). Had the worst garlic mushroom starter ever encountered followed by a a pasta which was like hunt the chicken. All of the meals were poor with little meat and lots of sauce. When we complained we were told that a breast of chicken was used per two meals - no chance. Would never return.

We held mother in law funeral wake here.Chips were freezing,poor service at bar,long wait,glasses not collected guests were clearing tables,celabratery drink not on time.Mens toilet atrocious ,no roll holder ,floors soaking wet obviously not being attended enough to clean.I used to go when it was simonside arms,better then give it a miss....keith wilkinson

Waited 1 hour 40 minutes for delivery and the shop never bothered to call to let us know it would be that late. Just eat said 1 hour but it was way longer than that. The shop in the long run will just loose money as people won’t re order. They obviously either need more staff or to be better at updating just eat delivery times. It was a pay weekend they got my money but they didn’t even offer a partial refund for it being so late so In the end they got my money but lost me as a customer. Plus the pizza had pepperoni on it when it wasn’t supposed to. If I order from dominos or Balti masters it takes like 30 minutes cause they obviously have more drivers working.

pizza is unreal and it’s great that you get chips along with every pizza you buy! one of the best places for a takeaway for sure.

Went as a group of ten and the place wasn't busy but customer service was not good. Waited ages for the food to arrive. No apology for the wait and no interaction from the staff with customers. We have been before but won't be returning.

100% one of the worst places I’ve had food at. Deffo the worst in the area only gets business because of location. Kids chicken nugget meal - chicken nuggets warm on outside still frozen in the middle. Salad in wraps stale, not fresh in the slightest. Half green half brown. Excuse given, it’s just mixed leaves. Half was dry and well out of date while the only half was just clinging on haha. Horrible food - that’s being nice. Deffo won’t be back and deffo wouldn’t recommend. Should of clicked on when the couple infront of me at the bar ordered a bottle of wine the staff couldn’t find no clean glasses of the ones that were hung up ready to use

Great Sunday Cavery; Good price and lots of food... the two meat meal was good value. Great Bar staff as well and very helpfull
