The best restaurants in South Tyneside North East

First time ever in this part of the world. Sunday lunch, wish I lived here! What a fabulous accidental find.

We fancied a curry but not too much so opted for what we knew would be great. Beef, mushrooms, fried rice and curry sauce. Enough to share and some rice left over. Class

We only ordered beef curry, fried rice and extra curry sauce this time. Although we used to go weekly here when we were younger and pre kids, there is so much more choice nowadays. However, for us, there is so taste is just as good as it always has been. Delivery was quicker than stated and brought back happy memories.

Spent a lovely Saturday here with work colleagues for the South Shields v Marine FC match. We had a prime table in the Shipley Lounge where we were feed, watered and got to watch the game from the comfort of some nice warm seats. The food was delicious, the chicken was cooked to perfection and the dauphinoise potatoes, little creamy dreams! Dessert was a winter comfort classic, bread and butter pudding with custard, which topped the meal off nicely. The service from all the staff was spot on, cheery and helpful and the fact the lads won just made the day even better! A fantastic day out at a great little club!

Dined in and had the full English breakfast, couldn't fault it, full plate 2 sausages, bacon, eggs, hash browns, 1 black pudding, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, 3 pieces toast and pot of tea £7.50, definitely going for another visit, probably this afternoon

What a beautiful meal. Would definitely go back . Not the most inviting frontage but forget that and focus on the good. Succulent lamb . Chicken tandooried to sublime taste. Reasonably priced . Wow

Had Sunday lunch there last week. The food was great, Really large portions and neither of us could eat it all, good selection of vegetables and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit. We will be back.

Very friendly staff and amazing food just what was needed in Jarrow town Centre

Had the white chocolate cookies... unbelievable. How the chocolate stays melted at room temperature is beyond me, absolutely gorgeous!

Tried here for the first time, fabricating tasting healthy food, friendly helpful staff and very affordable prices, will be back.

Best Bakery/Cafe around it’s tucked away but I’m so glad we found it . It sells pies, sausage rolls, quiches, sarnie’s hot and cold, cakes , cheese scones, quiche’s, Birthday cakes does a lovely breakfast , and their afternoon tea’s are to die for you certainly won’t be disappointed I highly recommend them best bakery/cafe in Tyne and Wear ..

Great chinese takeaway. Food is of good quality, fresh and tasty. Decent prices too. Would recommend to anyone. Best I've tasted for a long time 😀

Value for money is an understatement. The breakfasts are outstanding and the daily specials lovely choice

The family and I visited Olivia’s last weekend after seeing people rave about their donuts ontop of ice cream cones. We ordered a total of 4 with a coffee, soft drink and candy floss that were all spot on and good value for money. The ice creams came with a flake, sauce with a large cone and they were unbelievable. They have large outdoor seating benches infront of the shop to sit and enjoy with the kids. For years we have been down at South Shields fair, completely oblivious to this dreamy dessert spot. It was incredible. Their ice cream range varied from rum + raisin to white chocolate and raspberry, standing there for 7 minutes trying to decide after a few taste tests with the kids. Never usually review online, but this place deserves immense credit as it’s like no other dessert spot in the north east. Would highly recommend and will be visiting this upcoming weekend before our holiday. Amazing, amazing amazing. Thanks once again Olivia’s!

Reasonably priced food and a good selection is available. The cheesy garlic bread and pepperoni pizza were really nice. The chips were a decent portion size too. The lady serving on the till was friendly and the shop appeared to be very clean. We will return.
