Came here with my wife as its nearby, recently opened and looked impressive (guess you can polish a t.....). Staff were fine and place looks nice but the pasta I ordered was so aldente it would have been easier chewing on the bark from the wood outside. Could lnt eat it and had to send it back. All fluff and no substance.

When you go in it looks impressive. Staff are friendly and the owner was on site. Problem was, no allergy check . Prawn starter was good but the chicken main was served with a large bone in and skin on the chicken.. Any decent Italian or even mainstream chef knows to debone and deskin chicken before serving. Owner not interested in checking if her customers were ok preferring instead to just wander around looking busy. Definitely somewhere to avoid

Lovely friendly restaurant. Clean and modern with spotless cutlery and excellent toilet facilities. Staff are great and coffees are excellent. Service is a bit slow sometimes.

This is a very good restaurant. We had a very enjoyable experience . We shared the mussels starter I had the lamb rump and my wife had chicken stuffed spicy sausage. We shared a cheesecake dessert. The staff were all very nice and friendly all in all a good night

We went in on New Years Eve just for drinks and had a bit banter with the young man behind the bar. He remembered me tonight and carried on the banter love this from a young fella also the food was superb as well as the service definitely will be back. Top marks young man

Visited with family. Food was excellent and served quickly. Staff were very friendly, attentive and professional. It's lovely to have found a restaurant at last on our doorstep that serves good Italian food and table service, instead of having to go back and forth to counter. Restaurant was large, tastefully decorated and immaculate. We will be back and definately will recommend

Have been to this Restaurant a number of times and not been disappointed food is excellent huge portions don’t know how I managed to eat it all.(To good to waste)My friends who I was with said the same.Very friendly staff very attentive even though they were extremely busy.Booked to go back next week to celebrate my Birthday.

Worst Italian ever been to. Garlic King prawns for main were overcooked and all mushy absolutely disgusting. Pasta dishes very bland, would not recommend

Rang for a table last minute for myself, my husband and our two children. The person that picked up was quite abrupt. Didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing. Arrived and got shown to our table. I notified the man seating us immediately about my son’s allergies. He went to the kitchen to check what he could have. I was amazed he could have a pizza (an absolute first for us dining out that this was an option) we placed our drinks orders and perused the menu. Not slot of options. Only 3 chicken dishes to choose from. I asked if it was possible to have a plain chicken dish with a dianne sauce but was told the chef couldn’t do that so I chose another chicken dish. We placed our food order and seemed to wait ages. Another large party arrived after us but they got served way before us. I enquired about how long it would be as it was quite a wait and I was told it was because of the larger table we wud be next. Apparently they had a pre order in but what looked like 2/3 chefs working away shouldn’t have taken this long surely? Our food arrived. My husband order pasta and said it was nothing special. My son who ordered the vegan pizza loved it. My chicken dish was very easy but small portions I thought. My other son ordered pasta and said half way thru he didn’t like it. I tried it and it was bland. I got some nhs discount but the meal was £50 odd quid. I think the positives of this restaurant are that it’s decor is beautiful but a restaurant this size should have more than 2 toilets I think, the waiting staff are so good and attentive. The option for my son with allergies was a big positive for me. Negative - menu abit pretentious and limited. Waiting time too long and not a lot of flexibility from the chef. Very overpriced for what it is and where it is. £7 for a glass of wine and £5 for their own lager. I went last week with a friend and ordered off the Xmas menu. Loved it even tho the Christmas lunch was lacking a lot of veg. It’s fine if you get it on a special but we won’t be going back.

Popped in today last minute decision for Sunday lunch 2 course £14.95 , 3 course £15.95 but we definitely couldn’t manage a pudding , absolutely gorgeous would highly recommend, the lamb just melted in your mouth and the hubby couldn’t even manage eating all his beef, food delicious and service great we will definitely be back again

We popped on while shopping at the nook, and we were not disappointed, we regularly eat out in south tyneside especially on a Sunday, we chose the 3 course for £ 15.95 and it was amazing the I had prawn cocktail and my partner had the black pudding both were delicious.. We both had the lamb dinner for our main and it's was outstanding the lamb literally melted in your mouth.. We took our deaerts away as we were both stuffed, staff very polite and helpful, we'll definitely be back..

Bit of a late review - visited Olive tree a couple of months ago and have to say it was great, lovely setting inside. Waiting staff were friendly and ever present without being intrusive. The food was tremendous and I thought it was reasonably priced. We didn't order from a set menu but both had starters, pasta mains with an added garlic bread side with mains plus drinks was under £70 (although it was a while ago so not sure on the bill). Going again this evening :)

The most amazing experience for my friends birthday! We were greeted by the most lovely staff who done everything they could to make sure we had a good night. food was delicious and my friend said it was the best meal she’d had in a very long time ha. we thanked the chef at the end of the night and he was lovely, very modest man. the staff were lovely and had us chatting all night!! i absolutely recommend this place to everyone and we have booked now every week as we normally go out for lunch on a saturday, this is our new favourite!

Overall the food was lovely and I would recommend that half. However it felt a little bit unnerving that I felt watched all the time, staff pointing at the table and then talking. I didn't agree with how the chef(s) was talking to their staff member in front of the customers and we were in the middle of the restaurant. Waiters were very quiet and had to keep asking what they had brought out and any question about food they had no clue. They accommodate babies at the table but there was no changing table in the toilets so I had to change my baby on my knee.

I was undecided about trying here tonight because of bad reviews. Glad I ignored. Absolutely exceptional start to finish. Told we’d have a wait for food…we had cocktails, our meal, a bottle of champagne and complimentary cocktails due to our celebration in just over an hour. Food was amazing. One of the best steaks I’ve had. Will 100% be returning. Take the chance…I’m sure you’ll agree it’s worth it..!!!

Absolutely fantastic service staff are friendly, attentative and helpful food was outstanding I had seafood risotto and my husband had meatballs we also had antipasti and home cooked chips was beautiful experience well done olive tree we will be back soon
