Myself and my partner have been several times for Sunday lunch but just recently I have Been quite shocked at what I have seen .on the first occasion I was sitting eating and two women came in with their dogs however I was shocked that they put the dogs on the seats and allowed them to eat there food off the table. The second occasion a family came in with two dogs one of the dogs sat at the table in between the family and they started to feed the dog the other dog was on the floor and they kept on throwing the food on the floor for the dog. I get it that it is a dog friendly place but is it acceptable that whilst you are eating that you have to listen to dogs slurping food. Would it not be better to have just one area where the dogs could be and not spread out around the restaurant. We like coming to the rattler the food is very nice and so are the staff however I don't know if I will return as I don't find it very pleasant experience to listen to dogs slurping on a table next to me.

Friendly very lively staff. A nice atmosphere. I get the impression it's a lovely place for the staff to work. Sometimes though feel that for some staff socialising and phone use seems to takes priority over customer service..Have not eaten there except for one Sunday cavery I had which was lovely. Generally a lovely bar with great friendly staff. Just feel it could give a better impression to customers and therefore do better if management made some staff aware that they are there and paid to serve and help customers not for a party.

The best Sunday carvery I’ve had tastes very homemade and made with love. I 100% recommend this place especially the new chefs that are operating the kitchen now. They are trying their best to change this place around . I would go no where else for a carvery

Visited on the 11/08/2024 What could I say, the food was 100/10 I had a carvery with everything on my plate. Gammon Mash,Turnip,Yorkshire puddings and veg. It was made to perfection. Meat was moist and tender, Yorkshire was crispy and soft and the Mash was smooth and buttery the way I like it. When I was at the carvery getting my food I was able to catch both of the Chefs Name Claire and Jonny and they were polite & friendly. Floor staff were amazing and on hand whenever I needed something. I will be definitely be coming back again!!!!

Josh (I think his name was) was extremely helpful, 10/10 customer service when our food order was lost. Will be back again during summer. Whole atmosphere was lush. Perfect summer evening drinks spot.

7th August 2024 Definitely the worst meal I have ever had here. A shame because we were once fairly regular visitors. Staff were aware there was a problem as they were sitting close by and although heads kept popping up over the screens. Not one asked or tried to rectify the meal. The fish was cold in places. Very watery and the batter was powdered and tastless. It didn't seem to have been cooked properly. Staff were uninterested. One carton of sauce between five, after a second request a sauce bottle appeared to be quickly taken away. We left most of the meal. Very disappointing. Fortunately we will not be returning.

Ordered and paid for food and drinks for 8 people. We received 7 meals waited a while and enquired about the 8th meal and was told it would be 5 minutes. After 15 minutes and when everyone had finished their meals I enquired with the member of staff who tried to explain they were very busy and only had 2 chefs then proceeded to tell me it wasn’t his fault. I was not apportioning blame merely pointing out that one of our party had not received the meal we had paid for. After checking the original bill another member of staff gave me a cash refund for said meal and we left with a member who had not eaten. Shocking customer service and we will never return.

Wifey, mumsie, dragon-in-law & I decided to have dinner here Saturday evening and were surprised to find it virtually empty. Wifey & I had eaten here a few years ago and had raved about it hence the revisit. We found seats, decided what we wanted from the sparse menu and went to the bar to order. The young guy serving was incredibly nervous and struggled immensely with the POS system they had in place as it kept throwing up wrong prices for food items until a manager ? Cane and helped sorting it out. We sat down and after a little while were told one if the items we’d ordered, the steak, was off the menu as they’d run out. We ordered something else and again, after a little while, were told that something else has run out, so back to the menu again. The soups came out and both wifey and dragon-in-law sent the straight back saying that they tasted like sour cabbage water not pea & mint !! Apologies all round and a free glass of wine for mumsie as an apology. The mains came and totally made up for the terrible starters. Huge portions of fish & chips. A whale of a piece.. My pie was delicious with home made chips/wedges and fresh vegetables not frozen. Mumsie said her chicken was incredibly moist. I used the disabled toilets and they’re a credit to the establishment. The place was empty apart from the staff setting up for a band later. The whole place has the feel of somewhere about to go out if business but trying hard not to.... Will we be back...unsure...

This pub has recently been refurbished. Lovely outdoor area and bar. When walking in there was hand sanitiser for us to use. Staff didn’t wear masks but we were outdoors. I didn’t go indoors so I don’t know if staff wore masks indoors. We were welcomed by a lovely member of staff who asked us if we were coming in for food or drinks. She did let us know the deals of the day. We found a table and we were spaced out from other tables. We just wanted drinks on this visit and the bartender was lovely and served really quick. Went here as we do every year for a family meal on my Dads memory. My wife booked a table for 5:30, we arrived at 5:10, parked outside and paid for parking for 2 hours. Went inside to find the place fairly dark and empty, one family sitting at a table with a pile of plates and leftovers in front of them, the guy behind the bar eating his tea and the the kitchen staff chatting away in the corner. We sat down and my wife went to the bar to explain that we had booked a table for 5:30 to be told that the kitchen was closed, he had sent the waitresses home, no one had told him there was a booking and he had no intention of re-opening the kitchen. He did not seem to care that this had happened and was obviously not prepared to do anything about it. Very disappointed at their lack of organisation and attitude towards customers. We promptly left and went to Sambucas instead where they actually had a restaurant with lovely welcoming staff and food to serve to their customers.

We often walk past the seafront pub/restaurants with our dog and family and have noticed the decline of the outside of the Rattler for ages now. It was apparently shut for a while last year and indeed looked shut on Bank Holiday Monday when we passed. No advertising outside for food or events unlike its nearest competition which was heaving listening to a live band. Anyhow, we decided to miss out on the Rattlers competition as I personally don’t like the place at all and went for a drink with 3 friends to the Rattler. From the outside, expect the worst, on the inside it’s fine for a drink, polite service and plenty of seating as it was empty. Drinks were fine and cost what we expected. Watch out for parking charges on the road and at nearest car parks, even disabled badge holders apparently have to pay to park at some of them.

It was a good menu to choose from with an offer of 2 for £14 on a range of meals including burgers, lasagne, stroganoff and salads. Me and my partner had the burger which was delicious and clearly homemade and the homemade chips on other meals looked delicious. All out meals arrived together and were all hot. The staff were excellent very friendly and helpful. We would defiantly return if we were in the area again.

Visited here with family to end a lovely day in South Shields. Ordered 4 adult meals and 2 children’s meals, Waited 40 minutes even though there was only one other family in restaurant, when the food arrived I was astounded that the chef thought he could dish up such atrocious looking food. The gammon was deep fried but not cooked and was swimming in dark brown fat, the egg was massacred and the sausage had been cooked for that long there was no sausage meat in it just a charred, solid mass. We will never go there again.

I visited The Rattler on Sunday, 8 June 2019. The car park is operated by a company called Future Parking Limited which operates a policy of excessive parking charges. I drove into the car park and went into the restaurant to see if it was still serving lunch at 13.55. I drove out after a few minutes but despite my short stay I was issued with a Parking Charge Notice for failure to buy a parking ticket! If the Managing Director of The Rattler wants to know why his car park is empty and there are no customers in the restaurant perhaps he/she might like to call me on 07887 942849. Richard Brown

Our first visit to South Shields we were looking for a party of 8 adults and 3 children for our lunch out. We chose the Rattler because it looked spacious and child friendly. Don’t be put off by the outside, inside is much better, and is very shabby chic and clean There were plenty of large tables to choose from so we had plenty of space for us all including the two prams. We all ordered our meals separate for the menus which had a wide selection of choices. We all chose the 2 for £14 which we thought was good value. Our meals were all different from lasagne, gammon, burgers, hunters chicken , and panini. All our meals arrived together and were piping hot and the chunky homemade chips were especially delicious. All the staff were very efficient and friendly and nothing was too much bother. We all totally enjoyed our meals and would return on our next visit to this area.

Definitely in need of refurbishment, the outside is looking shabby and the inside very dated but according to the new management they are discussing a refurbishment programme. Meanwhile they are serving good food and keep good beers. We were shown to our table and asked if we were here for drinks or food and we said both and the young man brought menus and cutlery over for us. We ordered drinks and food, the drinks came immediately and the pizzas and chips came later. They were serving a large table of 12 or so guests and explained the food would arrive as soon as the large table order was served, which suited us just fine. There were a few other tables occupied as well so the place was quite busy. They have a unique and historic venue here and we wish them all the best in their new venture and hope they can make this a successful business.

I used to love The Ratler! Amazing, however it's pretty beat up nowadays. It's under new management but their staff service wasn't the best. It was a lass on her own at the bae but no one seated us (which they did before) then we sat down with no menus on the table, she saw us sit down but didn't bring menus or mention where they are. So i go up and ask and she just points at the bar.Prices of burgers are around £11 - £13... they don't even look worth that price for South Shields. They're more like London prices!I got a Sweet Chilli Chicken Panini, which was downed in oil, soggy as hell bottom and swimming in sweet chilli sauce with ' hand made triple cooked' chips, but more like chips from Nettos which isn't even about anymore.Really like the potato skins, the only recipe I think they haven't changed but overall disappointed.

Both had no flavour and the steak was very grisly, neither was pleasant. The chips tasted like they had been cooked in very dirty oil however the sweet potato fries were nice. The lady who served us was very friendly however wouldn’t visit again as food poor.

I went for an early evening meal with my sister having been regular visitors in the past of The Rattler, now reopened under new ownership. First impressions were that it was even more worn and dirty than before with only one visible member of staff. We sat down at a table after being told to pick up a couple of menus. We waited and waited and nobody came to ask if we wanted to order drinks let alone any food. Eventually we caught the eye of the young man from behind the bar who seemed surprised we wanted to order anything! He was nice enough but obviously not very experienced. We placed our order and our drinks duly arrived. I’d asked for tonic water, I was brought slimline tonic, which I hate and hadn’t asked for. And our glasses were very grubby! The young man obligingly changed my drink, no problem there. He was quite sweet actually. He brought us a knife and fork each but we had to ask him for spoons to twirl our spaghetti and tagliatelle- again, he was untrained and didn’t have a clue. Our pasta meals arrived and both were acceptable, piping hot and quite tasty, but very garlicky. But I didn’t enjoy mine as much as I should have for thinking that the kitchens were probably just as dirty as the rest of the place! The young man eventually took our finished plates away and asked if the meal was ok, but didn’t ask if we wanted a dessert or any more drinks or coffee. He just never came back. As we got up with our coats on after another half an hour he waved and said goodbye. We hadn’t asked for the bill and hadn’t paid it, but he was oblivious. We’re honest people so made a joke of it and paid him. Overall it’s not a pleasant place to sit and eat, very worn and scruffy inside and the toilets were filthy. We won’t be hurrying back. Such a shame as it used to be lovely. It needs a lot of cleaning and refurbishment and I’m just hoping that I’m not ill after eating there.

Firstly, the staff serving are lovely, friendly and efficient, but whoever does the food needs to retake a chefs or cooks course. I ordered a tuna melt, a simple dish I can make at home which normally comprises of tuna mayonnaise with melted cheese in a toasted bread, they forgot the mayonnaise so it was dry tuna and hardly melted cheese. I sent it back it returned, pretty unappealing update. They added more chips to compensate but they were revolting. I had seen a tray of chips already cooked on top of the cooker when we arrived at 11,30 am, we ate after 1.30pm. Nobody was really eating yet so obviously prepared early to be reheated, they had an awful taste. My mum who is on chemotherapy for cancer had some and I sure hope the cooking or re-cooking doesn’t give her anything dodgy. So apart from the view, good serving staff, it needs a lot of improvement, run down also. Thank god for the ice cream place down the road that took away the yucky taste. I don’t recommend.

So this place has had new management several times in a short period, which has become commonplace in South Shields. There are a few highly successful ventures in the town which have lasted for decades and lots of other ventures which change hands every couple of years because they can't seem to get it right. So I thought I would give this one another try. The first time, they appeared to be snowed under over the Easter period. The place was by no means over capacity but the queue at the bar was getting long. Many people just wanted drinks yet they had to wait in the same queue as new arrivals placing family food orders. There was only one person taking the orders at the bar. No waiter or waitress. The obvious solution is table service. Get everyone sat down first and then take their orders. That's how most of the rest of the world does it. That way, you won't have a place full of empty tables and a queue out of the door because ten families turned up at the same time. The North of England is notoriously bad for lack of table service anyway so I let that one slide. You are expected to give your table number and order at the bar which can be confusing for our visitors from abroad. The manager seemed genuinely apologetic and concerned however and he clearly wanted his customers to be happy. The next time I went, it seems that there is now a new menu. Randomly, pizza and pasta is not available on a Monday. Ok, I can deal with that. Maybe they don't have the staff on a Monday for making pizzas, I don't know. It's bizarre but it's entirely their decision if they don't want to serve pizza on a Monday. It's just that there is no way of knowing that until you ask for a pizza on a Monday, because they put the same menu out every day.I will give credit where it is due; their pizzas are AMAZING. They know how to do a pizza right. Anyway, now there is a new menu. I ordered something. They brought the wrong thing out, which is excusable. People make mistakes. I waited a little longer and I was about to ask for my money back when it finally came. I had ordered scallops with rice and it cost almost £9. There were 3 scallops, one wasn't cooked properly and there was about 4 square cm of rice, the smallest portion of rice I have ever seen; no bigger than one piece of sushi. Even sushi doesn't cost £9. I'm not sure how you would even cook such a miniscule amount of rice for a single order unless it's pre-packaged like that and microwaved perhaps. You could count the grains. Someone is laughing their way to the bank. I'm sorry but that's the straw that breaks the camel's back.I have to vote with my wallet in future. Coleman's Seafood Palace is 200m down the road so they need to think about that. The other thing I couldn't abide was one staff member shouting commands to another apparently subordinate staff member, which is a little embarrassing and unprofessional.I might check back again when the next management take over.

If you are looking for somewhere to eat standard food, do not go here. This place is the worst place any of us have ever been. The tables were sticky, the staff were miserable and most didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Our view was of one of the “waitresses” drinking a can of red bull and gossiping with what looked like a chef but was also taking food to the tables? Took 20 minutes to order as the que was that long (this could have been solved by having staff who knew what to do) and we were told that they only had half the menu on. After ordering we waited over an hour with tables around us full of dirty plates just sitting there. No food came and the Organization was abhorrent, they didn’t ask for table number they just shouted what food they held, bearing in mind anyone could have taken your food and they would not have cared. We then waited a further 25 minutes for a refund so after spending two hours of the day there we left and were happy to see sunlight. Only good thing about the place was being able to leave after not eating the food which did not look too appetising after seeing it on people left overs on plates. Do NOT recommend.

My food was OK, my husbands pizza wasn't up to much. Don't know whether they were short staffed but they were working very hard. But the waitress with her long hair hanging down needs to tie it back unless people want hair in their dinner. Sorry but won't be back, such a shame as it was lovely the last time we came. Not even an apology from the waitress as she brought our food for the delay.

We ordered our food and waited 55 mins, we asked the staff twice were our food was as we were seeing people who came in well after us being served. We eventually got our food my lasagna came on it’s own completely wrapped in cling film, I was so hungry I just wanted to eat it, but could not as I’ve never tasted anything so teastless, my daughters food was awful too she also left here’s by this time our grandsons as you can imagine having been sitting there for so long needed to get out so all 3 adults left 3/4 of our food and we left. The young guy serving was incredibly nervous and struggled immensely with the POS system they had in place as it kept throwing up wrong prices for food items until a manager ? Cane and helped sorting it out.We sat down and after a little while were told one if the items we’d ordered, the steak, was off the menu as they’d run out. We ordered something else and again, after a little while, were told that something else has run out, so back to the menu again. The soups came out and both wifey and dragon-in-law sent the straight back saying that they tasted like sour cabbage water not pea & mint !!Apologies all round and a free glass of wine for mumsie as an apology. The mains came and totally made up for the terrible starters. Huge portions of fish & chips. A whale of a piece..My pie was delicious with home made chips/wedges and fresh vegetables not frozen. Mumsie said her chicken was incredibly moist. I used the disabled toilets and they’re a credit to the establishment. The place was empty apart from the staff setting up for a band later. The whole place has the feel of somewhere about to go out if business but trying hard not to....Will we be back...unsure...

We live close to the Rattler and popped in as we had heard so many good reviews of the Sunday Carvery. If I’m honest out expectations weren’t too high as in the past we’d had poor bar service and very average food. I’m happy to say we were wrong. Young chap behind the bar was with us immediately and very pleasant, he explained the carvery routine sow e purchased our two tickets. It was fairly late for us, around 2:15 but the chef was busy restocking all the meat and vegetables. We only had a short wait while he did this and didn’t mind at all, fresh food. The carvery was as normal but had a great choice of turkey, beef, lamb or pork and the vegetable choice was amazing, absolutely everything we could have asked for and very fresh. Amazing roast parsnips! We have already been back for a second Sunday lunch and this will probably become a regular haunt.

Went here today with my friends and family whi i don't see very much as i don't come from Tyneside. We were told it was just paninis or carvery that was being served. We decided to stay as my one relative is in her mid 80s. We decided on the carvery. Well, a cloth was dropped in the mash by the server and then just taken out!. Ate a bit of the food and it was cold, tried the turkey...cold, tried the peas ( which were hard and hadn't been displayed in water).....cold. Certainly won't go again, will try another place from now on.

Pretty venue, great location, food was OK at best, service was terrible; 25 mins wait to take our food order (3 tables in the restaurant at the time) and 40 minute wait for our food to arrive. The less staff interaction the better, would return for a drink only.

What can I say?! After our order being taken fairly quickly we waited and waited. Then waited some more. After an hour we could see three of our meals under a heat lamp...where they remained for another half an hour. Eventually they finally reached the table...one meal completely missing, an spaghetti Bolognese instead of a lasangne, the wrong pizza and 5 lots of missing fries. After much apologising and blaming the young waitresses, who in the the manager's words 'get easily confused' we were given free drinks and told the rest of the meals were on the way. It didn't really work out though as the fries only arrived as we were paying the bill. The rest of the restaurant was in termoil with numerous tables complaining about ordering food only to be told 10 mins later they'd ran out, or waiting an hour and a half like us before they see any food! The food which finally arrived was mediocre at best. In all fairness there was much apologising and our bill was reduced significantly, but our pre Great North race meal was completely ruined. I hope they get their issues ironed out as the restaurant itself is beautiful, as are the views. Just a shame on such a busy night that they hadn't stocked up or staffed themselves accordingly! Overall verdict, stay clear!

We were taken to our seats and made the order of 2 Carvery’s and 2 children’s meals. Waited 15 minutes for someone to serve us. Meanwhile the staff were acting immature, talking about inappropriate things and acting like they were in a playground. 2 had a really loud conversation next to us, where the girl complained about the chilli sauce. The food in this pub isn’t actually too bad, but the pub is getting a real bad name for itself by the immature staff working there. Its like a childs school playground, no professionalism at all! They have no idea what so ever how to treat and serve the public, it really is a great shame. There was only one slightly older lad who seemed to do his job more professional. It desperately needs some kind of management in to run the place. No wonder its always empty compared to a few years ago when it used to do a good evening happy hour menu and was run well, kept busy and had good staff.

I recently visited here with a friend for some lunch on my first venture to South Shields. This place was right on the sea front so a good location to everything and looked quirky and homely. Upon arrival there was plenty of tables as it wasn't very busy. We had a special bank holiday menu to choose from which had a good few options and catered for everything. We went to place the order at the bar, the girl serving seemed very inexperience and not even sure she was old enough to be working there? She couldn't grasp the system and swore under her breath a couple of times. We waited around 20 mins and there was no sign of the food order arriving, but there was a notice saying food is prepared fresh and can take up to 30 minutes so we waited. 40 minutes had passed and still no sign so we asked one of the young people working there and he went to investigate. He returned saying the order was never placed in the kitchen so it was been done for us there and then meaning a further wait. Once the food arrived it was fine, decent size and hot. The young man did apologise for the confusion and we did get a free dessert for the bother. The problem here is that it is run by a bunch of teenagers who just want to talk to each other and have no idea what professional or workplace means, if you get some experienced staff you'll have a fighting chance. Probably wouldn't return after this experience.

We sat down and ordered two brekfast..about half an hour later our food came out looked a bit pitiful. 1 sausage that was chewy, a few beans that had been microwaved for far too long and gone hard, bacon really salty and undercooked, egg yolk over cooked, toast had been in the toaster for about 20 seconds, 3 mushrooms that were full water, a hard half of a tomato, a burnt hash brown it could of put the windows out. Staff were canny though. Wouldnt go back or reccomend Just went to pay... 17.10 for 2 brekfast and two cokes....

We've been visiting this pub for years and it was one of my favourite haunts. Great on a summers day to sit out the back and the food was always very good. We've eaten here many times including Christmas day and never had any complaints. We did however drop in about a year ago, we hadn't booked but it was mid week, we asked if we could sit next to the window and were told those tables were booked, they didn't have any reserved notice on them? Anyway, the place was nearly empty but we were given a table for two which was right under the heater and squashed between other tables, we moved ourselves, it was too uncomfortable and unnecessary. Anyway, while we were there, nobody sat in the window seats, I thought to myself that perhaps they wanted to keep the tables clean? The meal was ok so I put it all down to a bad night but as time has past, the place just looks like it isn't being looked after. We were down there for the food festival and popped in for a beer, it's just not what it used to be and we left after one. I've given in a 3 star more out of loyalty and memories, if it gets any worse, I would describe it as a bit of a dump!!

The Rattler was booked weeks in advance for brother in laws 70 th birthday meal, as well as a confirmed request for the sea view glass room .On arriving at the restaurant , we were told that the room was unavailable due to another party receiving the room we had booked .The staff informed us that this party had placed a deposit which we were never informed of. We were given a free round of drinks due to the disappotment of the booking ( due to our elderly party being seated in benches) . However the service detiorated further. It’s a shame that a iconic bar in South Shields has gone down hill.

We have been visiting this venue for eleven years and while tonight's food was distincly average, the restaurant has clearly gone downhill.Booked a table and when seated were told to order at the bar, which was fine, however, when we got to the bar another server told us she could have taken our order at the table, a bit confusing, have one ordering policy and stick to it.Food and drinks came to just over £50:00, server was told to keep £55:00 out of £60:00 and then proceeded to put a £5:00 note in the tip pool and gave me the £4:00 odds change, this was a bit cheeky. The ineptitude of the bar staff was further compounded when I went up and ordered two cokes. £3:40, I gave £4:00 and received no change. I will definitely NOT be back and it is a shame that this once great restaurant in a prime location has well and truly gone to the dogs.

Ive just returned from a weeks holiday in south shields. We ate here 3 times! Twice for carvery (lovely but read on) and once for an evening meal (very slow service). I would definitely eat here again! The homemade chips are amazing as are the pizzas. Couple of points to make -If you are veggie and eat the nut roast, tell them at the time of ordering your carvery. We were all served meals (then allowed to go up and get carvery for those of us who ordered it) and at that point we were told it had to be cooked. By the time it came 7 out of the 8 of us had finished eating!Kids menu - Dont order pizza or pasta unless its the evening time or they wont let you order it (not mentioned on menu)Carvery - Go during the busy periods or you will end up with dried out and sometimes cold veg! However, we do love it here and will be back jext year!

We called into this restaurant on 22nd June as our usual eatery was closed for a function, We ordered 3 fish and chips and as the nearby restaurant was closed there were quite a few people in , we got our meals after about 20 minutes and they were large meals and looked good but the first problem was we had no cutlery so the waiter had to fetch some, How can anybody spoil chips, they were thick of grease and overcooked the fish was ok but the salad appeared to have been leftovers from the previous day. nobody managed to finish their meal and when I looked around there were a lot of half finished meals left on other tables as well as ours. this was our first visit to this restaurant and it was our last and looking at the other reviews I don't know how this place is still open.

We stopped off here for lunch with our toddler grandson, who has a dairy allergy, we had previously stopped at the pub next door but all they could offer him was a burger or sausage which I wasn't happy with hence why we ended up here, I popped in and explained our requirements and the chef came out to say he could cater for more or less whatever we wanted even the carvery except the mash, the waitress suggested a kids bowl at the carvery, I got a slice of turkey and then helped myself to veg and gravy, one happy boy who cleaned his dish, Its much nicer when children can have a choice rather than just the usual nuggets or burgers. We opted for the two course for £7.95 carvery and desert, we thought it was good value and will certainly return.

Looks lovely inside and staff were friendly and helpful. We stopped here for lunch with my two year old. He was provided with pictures and crayons to colour in and the kids menu had a good range of choices. In the end for him we opted for the kids afternoon tea, which he loved, and included unlimited juice. However our meals were a disappointment. I ordered pizza and the base was very dry and tasted undercooked, toppings were minimal making it rather tasteless. My sister had chicken with peppercorn sauce, and she said the chicken was chewy and the sauce lacked flavour. Having Saud that we both agreed we would return to try their carvery which did look nice,

My wife and I visited this place for lunch and my wife ordered fish and chips and I decided to have Spaghetti Bolognese. The staff were friendly enough and we had eaten here before but it has now gone down hill. We waited at least half an hour for our food which we wouldn't have minded but some people were coming in after us and getting fish and chips and being served before us, when it did eventually arrive I couldn't believe my eyes as to what they had served us. Firstly my wife's fish looked a good size but it turned out to be all batter and cold, her peas were also cold and her chips were swimming in either oil or grease, we couldn't make our minds up. Now as for my spaghetti Bolognese, to be perfectly honest I haven't seen anything like it in my life. The so called Bolognese was just tomato and mince mashed up and the spaghetti was a joke it was all cut into 1 inch lengths and all just mixed up with the rest of the stuff. Although we should have complained on the premises we decided not to as we wouldn't have wanted to eat anything they threw at us. On the good side and a great plus for this establishment, they have got a door that you can escape from. We definitely won't be returning.

There were 11 people in our party and some were served whilst others had to wait, one of which received her meal when most of the party had finished eating, to make things even worse my granddaughter was served a pizza with a long hair on it and our request for a plain burger had to be returned twice because it was not served as requested. We then had to wait at least 15-20 for my grandson's birthday cake to arrive. It had not been the special birthday lunch we had all anticipated. We were informed that they were one member of staff down but this did not impact on the mistakes and poor service we received.

Despite a double booking mix up with our large party booking, For my daughter's baby gender reveal party we all had a great time. I think everyone enjoyed the food. Everyone at our table did. Most had the carvery option as it was Sunday. Very good cant fault a thing with the food or the service. The kid's meals were a good size with a few choices. The deserts were nice. My grandson totally enjoyed mine. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We checked ahead about wheelchair access. There is a ramp to the doors but then a metal plate to a wooden threshold step. Too high for my anti-tip bars and i got stuck on the footplate going back out. It took two people to get my wheelchair over and in and another to hold the doors open. Not ideal but they are going to look into this. Not much room to get between tables in the wheelchair and a few people had to move chairs to let me pass, our table was right at the back by the disabled toilet. Only two disabled bays and you pay to park but it's not much. Very busy and popular. I would go back again but not when it's so busy.

Went in for a birthday celebration last week and we were left very disappointed, I ordered the soup for starter and steak pie for main and my partner was going to order the margarita pizza which was on the same menu, a member of staff told us they ‘weren’t doing’ pizza or pasta. This was not stated anywhere on the menu and as my partner is a fussy eater there was nothing else on the menu she fancied so she asked for a tuna melt panini without the tuna, quite simple. When our meals came out my soup tasted like warmed up pasta sauce (very bitter and bits of tomato skin in it) when our mains came out my pie looked quite nice but my partner was served a slice of cheddar cheese in a bun. We sent it back to be melted but to be honest we were already pretty fed up at this point to top it off my pie had a hair in it. The whole place just feels very disorganised and the food is slap dash at best, the whole place needs a good clean and spruce up. Won’t be returning in a hurry
