The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

Service not so good but the food was ok The servers didn’t look like they wanted to be there which is always a shame. Food is a bit pricey especially when there is about 6 of you. Service took so long that we kept on getting hungrier in between courses so won’t be going back here

Don’t visit that often but have in the past and felt was ok. Decided to go again and found that the restaurant itself was bland with no mood or atmosphere. I remembered a lovely mural on the wall of an Italian scene - now painted over so just plain walls, with stark lighting. Menu was much reduced, with more Spanish ingredients than Italian - chicken, chorizo and nduja making up about four different dishes. Several of the dishes we were told we unavailable due to them not having the right pasta🫤, after one half of Pironi, they had run out… this is early on a Friday night…. And no honeycomb gelato. The meals were ok, I could have done better myself and will do next time… cheese and garlic bread was their only saviour… that was nice. But what tipped me over the edge to write this review was when we came to pay, we were informed that they couldn’t take cash, not a surprise these days, but that they also couldn’t take a card as the machine wasn’t working…. 🤦‍♀️ I had no signal so needed Wi-Fi…. They don’t have it apparently…. So their solution was to write their bank details on a piece of paper and make everyone do a bank transfer straight away before leaving the building…. And you also had to leave you phone number so if you didn’t pay the right amount the could ring you. Very poor. We felt sorry for the waitresses who were very apologetic and appeared embarrassed every time they had to deliver bad news to us for various reasons…Otherwise they were very pleasant. Get out while you can would be our advice to them, as the writing is on the wall for the business as far as we can see. Will not be visiting again under the current management. Shame…😕

El servicio fue pésimo, peor imposible. Fui con mi familia, la comida no hay como describirla grasienta, de supermercado, el menú infantil, me lo cobraron y solo le trajeron al menor un plato, cuando deberian traer 3 y aun por encima no cobrarlo porque tienen una oferta y lo peor a la hora de pagar me cobraron la propina 2 veces. En resumidas cuentas nada recomendable, pésimo en trato y calidad y aún por encima caro, muy caro para lo que sirven. Id a cualquier sitio menos aquí Es local de Paddington Ahhhh!!!! Se me olvidaba y la limpieza, inexistente, vimos como limpiaban y no limpiaban...

Very friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately my pasta was overcooked and the meat was a bit flavourless. The antipasti were great and desserts too. We also had a pizza that was quite below the standard of London's pizza places nowadays. A lot of potential, but a missed opportunity for now.

Enjoyed a nice evening out on Tastecard which gives us 2 for 1. We had starters and main and drinks. Roxie delivered great service and she made our visit tonight extra special with her personable manner and this being her first week at Prezzo! Worth noting that portions (esp starter) has shrunk and prices have crept up but with a voucher or Tastecard it is still worth it :-)

Lovely little restaurant with a good menu, food delicious and plentiful, staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Bonus that it’s dog friendly too. Brilliant little find

The Owner, Ben, is a magician. Amazing food, fresh ingredients, atmosphere is amazing. Staff is supper friendly, deliocious breakfeasts, in city centre, good coffee, nice tea. Clean and neat. 71A Northgate, next to parking. I higly recommend it. As well as Pizza yard. Enjoy! Bellisdimo!!!

Thank you italian farmhouse managers and staff. What an outstanding service I have had. I hired italian farmhouse for my daughters birthday and from start to finish the service I received was amazing. I was unsure of what I wanted and kept swapping and changing my mind not once was I made to feel this was an issue,I just in the end decided I wanted something basic and simple like sausage rolls, wedges, sandwiches. I got this with the fun element for kids making their own pizza! They loved it and went down a treat! I have a niece who I didnt inform had a nut allergy ( my bad ) they were prepared to clean all surfaces allow us to check ingredients and make something for her but understandably said whilst they would do their best they couldn't guarantee so we declined and they allowed us to order in a pizza, this obviously is someones business but I feel to do this they want more than just money they want to give and make customers feel valued and welcome I was so impressed. Staff constantly checked everything was ok, constantly asked if anything else was needed they were prompt in bringing out food and keeping the area clean and tidy, nothing at all seemed to be a bother to them. I also had a courtesy call making sure all had went ok as I'd changed my mind that many times. Thank you so much italian farmhouse for an amazing memory for my little girl. We will most definitely be becoming regulars!

We visited the restaurant a few weeks ago, and the manager, Sean, recommended few places to visit in Wallasey. We came back today for lunch and the food was delicious, and very friendly staff.

Bizarre customer service... We enjoyed excellent meals at Portofino New Brighton, over several months, but on this occasion we have have been put off from going there again. On the plus side, the food quality is normally excellent , and on most visits staff were attentive and helpful, but one of the young Italian waiters is unfortunately not good at English, and this impacts on service; he often has to refer questions to his manager, because he doesn't understand them. He doesn't even understand some basic restaurant terms, such as 'gluten' On this latest occasion though, it was the manager who took our food orders; his English is good, but the Sea Bass my partner ordered, came with a completely unrecognisable sauce, not one described on the menu. She also suspected that the sea bass was mackerel (or another different fish). When my partner questioned him, he was adamant that it was sea bass, but bizarrely said that "we sometimes change the sauces". Er, no....I thought, restaurants do not "change sauces" without discussion with the customer. The manager also offered to go to the kitchen to discuss the matter with the chef and he would " come back shortly" But he didn't return. At all, ever..... He hadn't left the restaurant because we saw him chatting to other customers at the bar, on our way out. At the same sitting, I was given Ravioli in a rather sickly cream sauce, instead of the Canneloni dish which I had ordered. I didn't complain because we had already questioned my partners dish, so I just eat the meal, which I didn't enjoy. So this restaurant has lost 2 regular customers due to what appeared to be odd, bizarre behaviour by the manager. I notice that Portofino, New Brighton, don't respond to any of these reviews; They obviously don't care, not interested. They should be . If you go there, be careful that the staff have properly understood your order, and reject it if it isn't exactly what you ordered , is my advice.

Great vibe, very friendly and accommodating as we didn't book. Food was excellent and we walked away thinking we had great value for what we had. Will come again next time we are in the market for some SALT.

The pizzas have not had much flavour to them, and the prices are just getting ridiculous to be honest. £45 for 2 people to have 2 courses and 1 drink each when the mains are half price is mad.

Well where do I start.Everything apart from service was very disappointing.The food was tasteless. Literally no flavours whatsoever…I have never had such a bland food…This has to be addressed….Service was very good and welcoming but food spoiled entire experience ….That’s a huge shame….Please - owners - speak with your chefs….

My wife is a Vegan.So she was delighted to see a separate Vegetarian and Vegan menu with lots of choice. Except, of course, that most things were vegetarian not Vegan. And a lot of the Vegan options included fake meat.Nothing wrong with that ...except my wife's a Vegan because she doesn't like the taste of meat! There was only one pizza without fake meat..and that was a Vegan Margarita! Boring. And they couldn't even add Mushrooms because all their mushrooms are pre buttered. Here's the good bit of the story! The manager was an absolute sweetheart. He explained why the Vegan choice was limited and then offered to put any vegetables they had available on the pizza. Then the Vegan chef sacrificed some of his personal Mushrooms, so she got a Mushroom and vegetable pizza, which was delicious! ( my lasagne was fab and the Vegan garlic bread was lovely!) Lovely food and top notch service..so I can recommend Prezzos. But a little flexibility from the top might be helpful here...a selection of untainted vegetables to top a pizza should be very easy to supply.

Booked for dinner with the kids. Had mussels special and cheesy garlic bread to start - excellent quality and so tasty. Kids had Napoli pasta and pizza - fresh and huge portions. Mains were a fillet steak cooked to perfection and a lasagna - also very good. The girl serving was very friendly and great with the kids. Highly recommend!
