Visited on a Friday evening, seated upstairs. Ordered the Gamberi (king prawns in garlic oil) and the bruschetta to start with followed by Posh Hawaiian and Capra (goat cheese) pizzas with Pastaccio gelato and an Affogato (vanilla gelato, Amaretto, espresso & biscotti) for dessert. The food tasted authentically Italian, a very welcome change from the bland offerings you get from so many other places. Everything was fresh and delicious and reasonably priced too. Service was friendly and attentive despite the restaurant being busy (appeared to be family run) and the soft Italian music added to the ambiance without being intrusive. Modern decor with comfortable seating and good sized solid tables upstairs. We were visiting the area for a few days and searched Italian restaurants in Crewe. Delighted we chose Gio’s. Can highly recommend.

Went for a family meal here as it was recommended by our hotel. For starter my wife had the prawns which were lovely and I had calamari ( with was slightly overcooked but ok) my wife loved her pasta dish and my pizza was really tasty and would definitely recommend. Staff were absolutely lovely and very attentive and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Couldn't fault service at all . The wee man loved his pizza aswell. All in all a great experience and if ever in the area I would definitely recommend.

I visited here as a group and we all had various meals I had garlic mushrooms to start which were very nice but thought the mushrooms needed cooking a bit longer. I tried the pasta with butternut squash and white beans , very very tasty and great to see some varied options than the norm. Everyone else enjoyed their mains too, plenty of it too. The pizzas and calzones looked amazing. Again we all had different puddings which too were equally as tasty. Just be mindful there is a service charge added to your bill if your not aware.

The staff here are absolutely lovely. There was a slight issue with our main course and when we told one of the ladies who was serving us she got it sorted very quickly and professionally. She was very keen to get feedback on the menu which was nice to see. The food was really nice, starters were lovely and the main courses all seem to be massive portions. Garlic bread on the side was divine, I think they might make the dough in house. Dessert menu looked nice but couldn't manage one - 2 courses each and a carafe of wine each too came to £60 which was less than we were expecting and a better price than other nearby restaurants.

Good location, but the smell of fried food is horrendous. Especially if you've dressed up for the evening, the last thing you want is to smell like you've just been stood next to a deep-fat fryer. Completely unacceptable and the restaurant should really fix this as a priority as the food doesn't make up for the stench.

What a find, in Crewe on business and was near to the hotel. Good service and exceptional food. Bruschetta starter, not the most enticing starter usually but this was loaded with tomato and didn’t skimp on flavour. The heaty meaty calzone, wow! Had a great kick to it but not too much, fully loaded and the dough was delicious. Just annoyed I couldn’t finish it and I don’t normally leave anything on the plate, but it beat me. Excellent food, excellent value, what’s not to like. Anytime I’m back in Crewe I’m eating here.

We've been a few times in the last few years to revisit what in the 90s was one of the best Italian's around. We really like their sister cafe Enzo's, in Nantwich, and attended a Vegan Night that they don't seem to hold anymore, which is a massive shame - for lactose allergen sufferers such as ourselves, it's a huge treat to be able to enjoy Italian staples without worrying about dairy or having to take a tablet prior to the meal. I really wish they'd bring them back because the Pizza was excellent and the vegan cake the best vegan cake I've ever had, beautiful and indistinguishable from dairy versions. After the vegan night we'd raved about this place to people and visited with another couple recently, but the food was average at best and the service a bit ponderous, which is a shame. One of the other couple's pizza's was so oily as to be inedible, and it put her off her food so she didn't complain or order an alternative as she didn't feel up to eating. I can only think the chef slipped with the oil when finishing the top. A friend had an uninspired bolognese that certainly didn't seem fresh and may have been defrosted from a pre-prepared batch, not necessarily an issue if the quality is there, it wasn't in this case. A shame that it was poor when we took another couple, the Vegan Night is sorely missed and we really hope it comes back, because that's 5 star.

I did not want a pizza, and the other mains were limited to chicken, meat and one pasta dish without meat/chicken. It was very mediocre I am afraid to say - was very similar to a bought pasta sauce. The spaghetti was overcooked. The waitress was extremely pleasant and obliging, The price was good but I'd rathe have paid three times the price for better food.

We waited 1.5 hrs between starter and mains. 1 main was forgotten so we didn’t eat at the same time. When it did come the chicken was so tough it was inedible. cannelloni was terrible, no cheese, no taste. One particular waitress needs some serious training in customer service. All in all it was really poor. I have been coming to gios for the past 20+years. A birthday celebration ruined. They did appear to go through a phase of massively extending the menu and with that came massively extended prices. All appears to have been reversed, the menu has been reduced as have the prices. What they do they do very well. We have been twice recently, the food has been faultless: spaghetti with chorizo/chilli, lasagna, pepperoni/pineapple pizza, spicy pizza and garlic bread, washed down by excellent house wine, all great value. Hidden in plain sight between dodgy take aways and cut price carpet stores this was a little gem. We were in town for a concert at the Lyceum and stayed at the Best Western hotel by the station. A 5 minute walk towards town found us on the doorstep about 5:45.

Rios is a joy to visit , the staff are fantastic and the food is delicious. The Risotto balls were even better the second time around , the Pollo Tuscany was tasty and the vanilla ice cream was clearly local diary quality. Well done again Gio's.

Had three courses, 2 cocktails and bread and olives whilst we waited for the starter and it came to around £55 (for 2) which was really good considering the portion sizes.....they were HUGE! The guy serving us too was really friendly. Didn’t have to wait too long for the food either which was great.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at this restaurant that was highly recommended to me. My partner and I had pasta with a white wine sauce, which we thought it could have been less creamy and have more of a wine taste to it, but it's just our personal preference. My partner's mother ordered a pizza and the dough was a bit pale in places, but the waitress was kind enough to pop it back in the oven for a few more minutes. The team was super friendly and I would most definitely recommend this place.

I had been there before for lunch a couple of years ago and it was good. The food was excellent. I had canneloni with the most wonderful sauce, the best canneloni I have had in an Italian Restaurant. The wine was a disappointment and the only downside to a very pleasant meal.

Whilst on an overnight stay in Crewe, the hotel where we were staying recommended Giovanni. The food was homemade, very tasty and plentiful. Ian, our waiter was a delight, he was very attentive and a complete joy making our evening so enjoyable. All in all a very nice venue.

Called here by chance after hearing good reports. We can't complain about the service as there appeared to be only 2 people working (one in the kitchen and one "waiting on". They were rushed off their feet! The food was distinctly average! Not really a lot more to say!

I stayed in Crewe on business and the hotel I stayed in didn’t have a restaurant. I went out to explore Crewe and found Gio’s Italian and pizza restaurant, a couple of minutes walk away. On entering, the very pleasant staff made me very welcome and offered advise about the menu. I ordered a bruschetta to start and a super green vegan pizza. I was served the largest most appetising bruschetta I’ve ever had. The pizza was served and that was large too. The pizza was gorgeous. The restaurant is charming and has a nice atmosphere. I would certainly recommend a visit.

Very relaxed restaurant, laid back atmosphere, quality food and relatively inexpensive. The much missed spaghetti with fennel sausage was my favourite dish (sadly not on the menu now) and not one that I've found anywhere else. The Ginelli bread is the best starter/side-dish that I have eaten anywhere in the world. This restaurant is not what you'd expect in Crewe so be prepared to be surprised.

An off chance visit, on a very wet Saturday lunchtime with an old friend . Excellent food. Garlic Mushrooms, followed by a super Lasagne and a couple of beers each. I think the bill came to £23. The service was slightly slow with a single waitress who was rushed off her feet. I don't get to Crewe very often, but will visit agin next time I am there. Great food and great value for money.

Was in Crewe on Saturday and called in to Giovanni’s for lunch. Service was quite slow as there was only on member of waiting staff on duty, but the food was absolutely sensational and great value. I opted for the lunch menu offer where if you order a main course you can select a starter for just £2. I chose the mushrooms with melted cheese and garlic over them, served piping hot in a skillet. Lovely. To follow the calzone with bolognese filling. Again, superb. I particularly liked the fact that pots of ground Parmesan cheese were freely offered. All washed down with a perfectly acceptable carafe of house white. Would definitely return when next in Crewe. 10/10.

We had not visited this place for years and we decided to call in one bank holiday. We used to visit an Italian in Nantwich, which moved but the food here is far superior and not pretentious. I hate restaurants with loads of mirrors and sparkly lights. This restaurant boasts subtle lighting and furnishings. There is a lovely calm and relaxed atmosphere. Clean, well priced and gorgeous selection of food and drinks. The staff are pleasant and cannot do enough for you. The only problem now is that we cannot stay away. If you like freshly made Italian food - this is the place for you. Thank you. X

Vegetarians avoid! Gnocchi is absolutely disgusting, it’s floppy and sticks to every bit of your mouth. The olives are cheap, the sauce has no distinctive flavour and is far too thick. I was offered Parmesan even though it’s made with meat product and that’s even on the menu in seal marked as vegetarian. The rice balls smelled of unclean fat and again are gloopy. The tables are cramped and the tablecloth was actually dirty even though we arrived at lunchtime, not that there’s ever an excuse. Then they have the cheek to add a service charge to the bill without mentioning it! The staff were nice but the food was not.
