Zizzi - Metro Centre in Gateshead

We waited to be seated on Sunday lunch time despite all of the top floor being empty. The decor is nice and it does feel fancier than some of the other Italian chains. We shared the Cromer crab arancini starter from the specials menu which was very good. My partner opted for the calzone which was large, well risen and packed with filling. I enjoyed the stick pig pizza which is essentially two flavours, both of which were delicious. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was high quality and very tasty, this was reflected in the price which we found to be quite steep, especially for a chain/shopping centre . £17+ for a pizza. £8 for some starters and puddings.

We went here for some dinner the food was very average to say the least. I ordered the strawberry mock tail that was tasteless and just tasted of soda. I informed the bar staff who just give me a bit of strawberry syrup to top it up with. They brought out the wrong order for my daughter. Mine was very mediocre but then my daughter found a long dark hair embedded in her ice cream scoop. A half hearted sorry and just asked if we wanted another one. This is my first time here and there won’t be a second one

Visited this restaurant for tea with my family for my birthday and the whole experience was shocking. Waited 10 minutes for our order to be taken which, on a Thursday night at 6pm with a half empty restaurant, is very poor. Our food came and it was okay, but this wasn’t our main issue. We asked for the bill and the young waitress came over with a hand held machine that she was tapping away on and told us the price was £72.75… but we had seen no bill. We asked for a paper copy which she told us we would receive after we had paid. I have never known a restaurant to give you the bill after you have paid, what if the bill was incorrect? She showed us the items on a small screen and asked us to check, this is not an acceptable way to give someone their bill. My dad tapped his card on the machine and saw a green tick to say payment complete, so happily put his card back into his wallet. The very inexperienced and frankly rude waitress said that the payment had not gone through and the payment was outstanding. We argued the fact that we had seen a green tick to say payment complete and she insisted that the payment failed and we still needed to pay. We are genuine people so believed her and my dad had to insert his card into the machine. As the waitress walked away without even a thank you, my dad was notified by his banking app that 2 payments had come out. He went over to the till and explained that the money had come out twice and the waitress tried to explain this to the manager which took her longer than necessary - clearly showing her inexperience. The manager explained that a refund is not possible on these machines, and that she would have to write to head office to request one- which could take 10 days. What if this had taken the last of our money out of the bank? How would we survive for 10 days? This is absolutely outrageous that a refund cannot be processed right there and then and we are now down 150 for a below average meal with even worse service. Then young waitress did not even bother to apologise or look us in the eye, apart from a quiet thank you as we left. Absolutely shocking… eat here at your own risk!

We had a fantastic experience at Zizzi! The food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. One of the most important things for me was that they took my allergy seriously with every dish, which made me feel really comfortable. The service was excellent, and the team made sure we had everything we needed. We had a lovely time and will definitely come back soon. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great meal and a great time!

We arrived and were seated by a polite girl who took our drinks orders drinks were served and our food orders taken. The food was nice we ordered two pizzas and two children’s pizzas with children’s starters drinks ordered were 2lemonades for kids and a Coke, cocktail and a mocktail for the adults however I do feel a little over priced on the drinks a 330mm bottle of coke was £3.50 which in effect is the same serving size as a can. I understand mark up and margins but for that price I’d expect a draught pint. Cocktails were £8.50 and mocktails £5.00 this did throw ilia off as our bill came to over £75 for two children and two adults which was supposed to be “lunch” which was excessive but other than that on a whole it was a ok experience. I would think twice about the prices though as it was more than I would want to pay for 11.45 in the morning

Fantastic food for a really good price. Myself and my partner visited here today. We were made to feel welcome by the staff. I had the winter caprese (starter) and I recommend it. It was absolutely delicious 😋 my partner had the sticky pig (as much as I didn’t like the name) he really enjoyed it. Slight hiccup and we ordered loaded fries (as a starter ) unfortunately it was served with the pizza as a main- hence my four stars. Overall it came to £50 including drinks (one alcoholic beverage) I thought this was a great price for the quality of food. 🥘

Best customer service and food quality I’ve had with my family for a very very long time. When we were seated we were informed that we may have to wait longer for our food due to a staff shortage in their kitchen - this was not the case at all, from our order to the food arriving to our table the service was quick! Our table was located next to their open kitchen, I am a chef myself and watching your team work was inspiring and an enjoyment so thank you for that. My only down side which has nothing to do with the actual experience would be that fact I had seen a indeed add for a kitchen vacancy at the site we eat at, the vacancy stated that you pay £10.90ph - from the display I seen today I would suggest that your directors give their heads a wobble before they lose their amazing team to fellow competitors. To summarise keep doing what your doing, it’s amazing Thank you.

Very pleased with our meal on a recent visit to Newcastle. Efficient friendly staff and everyone enjoyed their meal. Would definitely eat here again if shopping in the MetroCentre.

Visited here 28th December, never been before however I’d joined the Zizi club in Aug when intended to go but plans changed anyhow I got an email saying free main course for my birthday, so we booked at the Metro Centre and was not disappointed. Food very tasty, daughter got a starter of king prawns on a skewer she loved them, the winter caprese salad was lovely and pizzas made in a clay oven, all left feeling satisfied, staff great drinks fab, will visit again also gained more points and points mean prizes.

Great staff. Super atmosphere. Food was lovely and really fast! Just what we needed after a crazy day. Purple haired member of staff is always so full of smiles and just so pleasant. Thank you! ☺️

A lovely venue, splendid drinks and very tasty food. I ordered a fruity, full-bodied merlot which left an oaky texture on the palate. Peroni is a lovely drop. Ordered a sticky pig, but was very surprised to be served a pizza instead.

We visited Zizzi on route to a concert. The cocktails and food were great. The prawn skewer starter was wonderful. My granddaughter was in our party and there were activities on the table for her. We asked if she could have her main whilst we had our starter and this wasn't a problem. All the food arrived quickly and hot and exactly what we had ordered. The food prices are reasonable and good value. All the staff were really nice, friendly and helpful. I would especially like to thank Katie, what a super star! We asked about transport from the centre to the Stadium of Light, not only did she explain she wrote down the bus numbers and times and gave us full instructions. A lovely friendly helpful member of the team, a credit to Zizzi's !!

We arrived just before 11.30 so queued for only a couple mins before opening.,were seated where requested. 2 adults 1 child - came to just under £60 was pleased I had some Tesco vouchers to use towards some of the Bill I know everything’s gone up so much but I think £15 for a pasta dish for lunch is a lot. Saying this all our meals were very nice and our service good so no complaints at all. Just a shame the prices in Britain in general are so high as it’s not doing restaurants any favours at all.

I have visited this restaurant several times but not for a little while and my family and I were very disappointed with the food and service this time. Firstly we ordered drinks and my 4 year old grandson accidentally spilled his juice and I apologised for the mess and we moved tables as they suggested. Which in fact was lovely. The waitress then said it was fine and offered to get him another juice. Which at the time I thought was lovely. But to be honest it was only Robinson cordial with water. Then the bill came and they charged me 50p for it!!! The food….. Meatball pasta-pork and garlic meatballs were like mush with very little taste. My husband said the sauce had a nice taste that was all. 5/10 Carbonara-bowl was full of grease and my daughter said that’s all she could taste. 3/10 Calzone carne- mushy meatballs, soaked pizza dough, full of chillis, barely any cheese and no bolognaise to be seen. 2/10 The staff were friendly enough and the service was fine. Just charging us for a drink that they offered to get spoiled there overall service. The bill was £72 We won’t be returning again.

I had the loveliest experience at this particular zizzis. Me and my girlfriend ordered pizza and pasta and they apologised profusely about the fact that the pizza came a little bit later than the pasta (which was no bother). Furthermore, the pasta was tasty however a bit too spicy for me and as a result I couldn’t finish a majority of it.
