Im sorry but the food is just … not it. The owner is friendly and funny and they tried. But please improve on the food. We know its frozen.

Da napoletana è inaccettabile essere presi in giro da compaesani a Londra. Non saprei da dove cominciare: si permette ad un ristorante di servire ai tavoli e cucinare, ma senza avere un bagno? Vantano sui social di far vedere la partita, ma non hanno abbinamento? Solo 'pezzotto' che non sempre funziona? Scrivono frittura per 2 persone, ma è solo 1 crocche+ 1 arancino ed 1 frittura? La cose peggiore, però, per un napoletano è non saper cucinare la pasta e patate...un'eresia! Era una pasta molliccia, senza condimento ed anemica tipica dei migliori ospedali. E chiudiamo così per non infierire oltre.

I’ve been trying to visit this place for ages. My partner booked a table and drove an hour to get us there. We arrived and we were told we have to be seated outside; it was 9pm on a Saturday so I was a bit disappointed as the surrounding noise was overwhelming. I was surprised to not be given a decent table inside after making a booking. They took our order and my partner chose a pizza. We were then told that “we don’t have any pizza” which I found peculiar. My partner ordered another dish and I ordered a spaghetti dish. The waiter brought us our drinks and quite some time later, came outside to let me know that they also didn’t have any spaghetti and they only had penne. We decided to leave as we both couldn’t eat what we wanted and all we could hear was police sirens and traffic noise. Multiple people would exit the restaurant for loud convos and cigarette breaks next to our table. In the end, we were asked to pay full price for our drinks as well. I am quite disappointed that we traveled so far for such an underwhelming experience. Truthfully, I now find it quite comical but, realistically, if you don’t have pasta or pizza to serve, why are you open? 😂

The food is terribly bad!The pasta have no taste with frozen seafood. The wine is so expensive charged us per glasses. The owner insulted my mother don’t know how to use the fork while she’s eating the pasta I told him my mother had a stroke that’s why her hands are very weak and he said she can use her hands instead!! My boyfriend paid 100+, the most terrible restaurant. Never ever again!

We had amazing, authentic Neopolitan Pizza which was delicious! The craft beer was spot on as was the desert of lemon cake dome. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is cosy and family friendly. Full marks! Will definitely go again next time we are visiting. Thank you!

Went for lunch at around 12:30 on a Saturday. I was alone. The place was empty and I took a micro table near the door. The atmosphere is good enough with lively Neapolitan songs blasting away and the server and cook singing in the background. I ordered a margarita pizza and a beer. The pizza was a monumental letdown, it was grossly undercooked and not resembling at all the crispy pizza in the pics on Google reviews. Ingredients were below average with passata sauce very bitter, hard mozzarella cheese, very little oil and low quality cured meat. A single old leaf of basil adorned the pitiful and small pizza. The dough was soggy and soft, a far cry from the one you see in the pics of the others. It is also tiny. Anyway. In the meantime another table of two Spanish ladies came in and ordered pasta with some mushroom sauce. They seemed underwhelmed by the food too, the portions again minuscule. The only bright spot is the crafted beer which was superb albeit a bit pricey. I paid 21 quid for it all and it felt like armed robbery. I would not recommend this place at all if you like pizza and like to eat. The location in the end is nothing special and very crowded by the myriad of tourists who flock to Notthing Hill for some obscure reason to me. Despite a large crowd constantly walking and crossing the intersection this place was empty. That tells you all. Nope!

Fantastic little Italian restaurant with great food and staff.

Really friendly owners and reasonable prices - especially considering the restaurant is in a prime location in Notting Hill. Food was good, nothing incredibly special either, but you could definitely taste that it was made with fresh produce. Would recommend the pasta fagioli and gnocchi alla sorrentina. The limoncello spritz was blue (as it should be)!

My friend enjoyed melanzana parmigiana but my pasta with olio, aglio e peperoncino was inedible. Tasteless and bland with watery olive oil. Salad and bread horrible . No effort. Such a missed opportunity. Could be a much needed affordable gem of an Italian restaurant in the heart of Notting Hill. No excuse to fail really. Nice basic atmosphere, could have more ambient lighting instead of blue neon and tv. very nice staff. Great shame about the food.

Seemingly Italian gentlemen sitting out front. Small trattoria. No toilet visible, allegedly out of order. Guests shown kitchen sink for washing hands. Oil and vinegar but No bread before or with the appetizer; when asked for served rubbish British “bread” at unannounced extra charge. Cannot recommend.

Intimate and delightful ambience and atmosphere. Convivial and genuine. I loved it. Everything that I could hope a small independent Italian restaurant to be. Highly recommend.

Very warm welcome by owner and all the staff. Delicious meal , scallops starter and chicken main course ;another starter was large prawns followed by tagliolini con ragu. Plentiful portions Unpretentious restaurant and definitely one to remember .

The food was fine, but really nothing special. What made this place was the owner and everyone who worked there, they were incredibly kind, funny, and charming. Everyone should make this place their local for that sole reason. They also do coffee and tea to take away, a proper "caf" and certainly a London institution. Mi piace!

Found this place on Tripadvisor. I don't often do negative reviews but I feel I need to warn other travellers to check their bill carefully. They tried to charge for a bootle of red wine which we didn't have (£30) It may have been a mistake but you never know. The food was tasty but the portions were small.

Un pezzo di Napoli a Londra ,ti senti a casa il proprietario il sig.Pasquale ti mette a tuo agio e poi ci sta Alfonso che ci ha servito simpaticissimo e ho fatto fare a loro ,mi hanno cucinato un bel spaghetto con gamberi e vongole a dir poco buoni e al dente ,ho spento le candeline del mio compleanno su una bella delizia a limone e il sig.pasquale mi ha omaggiato della sciarpa del Napoli con logo maria london ,e dopo un bel limoncello di sorrento siamo andati via i sieme ad Alfonso che ci ha accompagnati alla metro.

We booked a table for five and hoped for a nice dinner. All five of us ordered pasta and received very tiny portions of spaghetti. The owner brought some parmesan cheese and demanded us to kiss him for each spoon of it! The place is so small that it’s impossible not to see what other people order and we noticed that other customers were getting the same pasta dishes as us but their portions were huge. When we queried this with the owner he walked away from the table moaning rude comments. It was very weird. We left hungry, and certainly won’t be going back.

This restaurant is full of character! Given its prime Notting Hill location, the menu is surprisingly very affordable. The staff were friendly and attentive. Cannot recommend the carbonara enough.

Attirati dalla napolanita’ del locale abbiamo pranzato in questo mini ristorante ( quando dico mini intendo veramente mini) , il proprietario ( vero napoletano simpatico ed accogliente e super tifoso ) ci accoglie con molta allegria, ma alla richiesta del bagno ci manda nel vicino cinema mentre per lavare le mani direttamente nel lavandino della cucina !!!!! Al che non ho potuto fare a meno di notare la vetustà con conseguenti risvolti della cucina …… Mi dispiace ma è necessaria una ristrutturazione radicale ed anche una rivisitazione dei piatti ( gli gnocchi di patate non possono essere presi da una confezione scadente del supermercato) forse ai londinesi piace ….. ma agli italiani proprio no ! Conto non adeguato alla qualità dei piatti ed al locale

My friends and I stumbled on this gem of a place while in London for the weekend. Superb authentic Italian food in the smallest Italian place I have ever visited and I will be back in London again very soon for a return visit!

I've always been curious about this pizzeria with its old-fashioned and "Napolitan" charm (as they claim). Today, I finally decided to give their pizza a try for takeaway, and it was truly enjoyable. The only minor quibble I had was with the dough, which, in my opinion, didn't quite match the authentic Neapolitan style. However, I must commend them on their use of fresh ingredients, which enhanced the overall taste. Moreover, the owner was incredibly kind and friendly, making the experience even more pleasant. Size of pizza could have been bigger.

Saying this with a heavy heart as this is a bit of an institution and last time I went it was delightful. This time I ordered the vongole special and it was very disappointing. It was some plain spaghetti with some chewy gritty clams on top. No white wine sauce, no garlic, no chilli, no seasoning. Sent it back and some wine and oil were added, but not cooked off and it still had no flavour. Waiter seemed to know and seemed stressed so I didn't have the heart to send it back again. Won't be returning.

Oh my god what a gem! Perfect just before going to the cinema! We were immediately welcomed in by the staff who were attentive, friendly and wonderful even at the end of the day. People coming in to ask if tables are available is always a good sign. Great prices, portions fine and such a lovely Napolitan vibe- Maradona merch eeeeverywhere! We loved it so much - we had the Diavola pizza and Carbonara and both were wonderful.

Such a cute little Italian gem in Notting Hill! Feels really authentic and the food is simple but delicious. The people working there are super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming again :)

Unfortunately a bad review. The food was too expensive for the bad quality and quantity. We ordered 4 pizzas and they were more similar to a biscuit than a pizza. Super thin , basically impossible to fold and there was barely 4 slices of salame . No Ingredients at all. It was probably better a pizza from Lidl. For the price we paid I was expecting way more and bigger . Same story for the starters. Shame because the place really looks cute .

Abbiamo mangiato in questo ristorante molto bene...la pasta e fagioli napoletana era squisita, il proprietario molto gentile, il servizio veloce solo che le porzioni non erano molto abbondanti e i prezzi comunque alti per un locale così piccolo e senza bagno.

Estasiati dai sapori e profumi di Napoli. Il personale è semplicemente squisito.

Love this place. A truly cute and authentic bistro at NHG. Rumour had it a bit back that this was under threat. Not so, it is still here, with a tiny space to occupy with a large heart. Please, please, ever preserve businesses like this. Without them, London is not London.

Food was delicious and staff here was fabulous. We were there as couple and we really enjoyed our food and time spent here.

A real slice of Italy in Notting Hill - a must visit. A small restaurant, make sure you book in advance - the hosts are top notch, the food is brilliant and the drinks are strong! Great visit.

I love this place so much. People are complaining about it being expensive but this is an authentic Italian restaurant run by families with not a lot of seating it’s a real hole in the wall, their food deserves to be priced as it is they are the loveliest family. I love their service and how welcoming they are to me. I wish them all the very best for many years to come.

Very disappointed and deeply sad. My partner and I have been there for a lunch during a football match. We have shared the table with other people and this has been nice. However, at the end of the much we asked for the bill and we payed £239 for two people for a manu “starter + 2 mains + wine”. We didn’t receive the invoice and they said that vocally; a bit strange but our friends were waiting outside the restaurant and my partner paid and we left. When outside, we realised that the other people on our table had a different bill for the same menu and my partner came back to ask an invoice at least. The difference was a bit more than £100. They gave him £70 cash back saying that they were taking the rest for the service and still, no invoice. This is very sad and I couldn’t believe it but it is what it is. I can only suggest to be very careful with the bill in case you go there.

In occasione del pranzo della Domenica ci siamo portati presso l'ormai famoso ristorante "da Maria" a Notting hill, pubblicizzato dai media come ritrovo del popolo napoletano a Londra in occasione della festa scudetto. I nostri festanti propositi si sono subito infranti nella conoscenza del titolare del locale: uomo arrogante e presuntuoso che nulla ha a che fare con i valori di napoletanità conosciuti nel mondo. Di fatti, constatato che il piccolissimo locale era ormai pieno, abbiamo provato a chiedere qualche informazione in prospettiva di un pranzo da prenotare nei prossimi giorni, purtroppo abbiamo avuto nuovamente conferma che questi signori non conoscono il valore dell'accoglienza e della buona educazione. P.s.: in ogni caso dobbiamo ritenerci fortunati, alcuni turisti napoletani, incontrati per le strade di Portobello nel pomeriggio ci hanno raccontato della loro pessima esperienza culinaria nel ristorante "da Maria"

A place that has no meaning other than the cuteness of the place. We ate Pasta with Napolitano sauce and margarita pizza, the pasta was very tasteless, the pizza dough was not very good. You can eat better elsewhere. Mekanın şirinliği dışında hiç bir anlamı olmayan bir yer. Napolitano soslu makarna ve margarita yedik, makarna çok tatsız ve lezzetsizdi, pizza hamuru da pek matah değildi. Daha güzelini başka yerlerde yiyebilirsiniz.

Je n’ai jamais mangé des lasagnes aussi déguelasses… même à la cantine et les lasagnes surgelées d’aldi sont meilleures. Le patron sait qu’il sert de la m…. il nous a fait une ristourne de 5 livres sans qu’on demande rien. Le décor est rigolo mais ça fait cher la blague.

Nice people and service but not a great experience with the food - maybe I ordered the wrong thing but realistically everything should be good. Came from a Jay Rayner recommendation but I fear things have declined since he last visited… the arancini balls were hot on the outside and cold inside and so obviously reheated and with rice this isn’t great.

amazing place. old school style. if you’re budgeting be very aware there is a compulsory 12.5 non optional service charge added to everything. personally i think that’s way to high for an old school place which is not about fancy service and is more about the food. increase your menu prices instead of trying to the west end way of increasing your margins

Da Maria is a wonderful little Italian restaurant, only a stones throw from Notting Hill Gate underground station. It felt as though we had been invited into the home of an Italian family for home cooking. We experienced the warmest of welcomes and all the staff were extremely friendly. The decor is homely and shows a lot of love for Napoli football club. The food, (which is arguably the most important part of any restaurant/cafe) did not disappoint and was possibly the best traditional Italian food I've ever eaten. The menu is not too overcrowded, but still contains a nice collection of Italian favourites. The starters were excellent, I would definitely recommend the Arancini. The food arrived in very good time. Then the pizza was phenomenal. Real fresh ingredients, a thin base with a stone baked style crispy crust, and the tomato sauce base was easily the best I've ever tasted. After finishing our Pizza, me and my fiancee decided to order a second pizza to share, which was equally as amazing. I couldn't recommend this place enough. If you happen to walk past, it could be quite easy to decide to continue on to somewhere bigger. But it would be a huge mistake. I've not travelled to this area much, buy I definitely intend to return as soon as possible. Usually I would always try and leave at least one negative point, no matter how good the restaurant/cafe. But I honestly cannot fault anything through my own personal experience.

Si crea un'atmosfera fantastica sopratutto quando c'è la partita del Napoli. Location che ricorda molto l’Italia, peccato per la sua dimensione ridotta. Il cibo é molto buono e cucinato nel modo giusto, in 4 abbiamo speso poco meno di £80. Molto consigliato per chi si trova a Londra e preferisce mangiare qualcosa di diverso al solito fast food.

I am seconding the previous reviewer. While the pasta and main dishes are very tasty, and the staff authentically Italian and funny, the portions are ridiculously tiny. The Maria's Special of the Day pasta was £16 (so not cheap) but so small that even with a similarly sized mains (£13-£20) we left the restaurant still feeling hungry. In my experience, pasta portions in similar restaurants are twice the size. However, the food itself tasted fantastic and I highly recommend a visit to this Napoli-themed venue. Just make sure not to be too hungry.

Just like Nonna used to make it. Lovely authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Notting Hill. They were really friendly and welcoming but when they started cooking the food the smells reminded me of Italy. I had the best chicken Milanese outside of Milan! The Arancini was lovely and the Gnocchi fresh! Would highly recommend and will definitely go again! Very reasonable prices as well!

Before I start, if you go to this restaurant... ASK FOR THE RECEIPT BEFORE YOU PAY. They add on a lot and try and prompt you to tap your phone/card without looking at the card reader. I've actually never left a google review before but I felt the need for this place. I went in with high hopes because the interior is beautiful, the football was on, it felt authentic and the problems I'd heard about like no working toilet isn't something that bothers me too much. Some of the reviews mentioned that the food was frozen and it's not hard to see why. Everything took very little time to come out, was piping hot and yet still somehow didn't seem properly cooked. Felt microwaved. The food itself was entirely flavourless. Below the layer of cheese on the top, my pasta tasted completely unseason. Like it literally tasted like the pasta that you only ever try when you're testing how cooked your pasta is when cooking at home. We had to put a lot of salt on every dish to make it worth eating. The bread was completely stale. The beer had small frozen bits in it and fizzed out everywhere when I first tried to drink just as you'd expect from a beer that's just been pulled out the freezer. To cap it all off, they tried to make us pay £20 more than we should have and the prices aren't cheap to begin with. Probably my worst restaurant experience to date.

It is just like stepping into Naples, there is a fantastic atmosphere created by the personable staff . Finding authentic Italian/Neapolitan restaurants is getting more difficult now due to Brexit . Happily Da Maria still has Italian staff, so the true ambience still exists. We will definitely return again ....and again ...and again!

Was in the area and walked past this lovely, authentic and family run, Italian restaurant. Cannot recommended it enough! The Napoli - Udinese match happened to be on and the atmosphere was second to none. Amazing food and friendly staff, easily Notting Hill’s hidden gem and super affordable!

Włoska kuchnia. Niestety brak toalety. Niestety na końcu wyszło nieporozumienie z płatnością bo wyszło za dużo. Warto poprosić o rachunek przed zapłatą.
