The best restaurants serving Indian food in Southampton South East

I’ve dined at Kohinoor many times since discovering it back in 2022 but I hadn’t had a takeaway until last night. I can confirm that their food is just as lovely to take away as it is when you eat in. The garlic chilli chicken I had was one of the best I’ve ever had and the portion sizes are massive! Hands down the best Indian restaurant in Southampton without a doubt. Love it here

Really lovely food, ambience, and service, with interesting wine pairings. Engaging blend of well presented dishes paired with eating things with your hands which stops it feeling too formal. Genuinely different recipes and ingredients. A relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere where licking the last of your delicious food from your fingers is encouraged not frowned upon!

I have been there twice and it has become one of the best dining experiences I have enjoyed anywhere. It is not a great Indian restaurant or a great Southampton restaurant or a great vegetarian restaurant; it is a great restaurant (and coming from a devout meat eater). The food is very modern and hard to describe; while it’s roots are in Indian food it is nothing like you get at other Indian restaurants (either a local curry shop or the gourmet Michelin star ones in London). It is all incredibly creative, beautifully presented and tastes fantastic. I started with the lotus leaf chips (Nadru chips) which were very tasty, not greasy and accompanied a unique (good) caramelised onion chutney. For a starter I had the gobi Manchurian, which was battered cauliflower, also excellent with good depth. For me, the star of the dinner was dubki kadhi, an aubergine dish that was incredible, served in a domed plate that included a cute little smoke presentation. At the center was an aubergine steak but around it was aubergine multiple ways, my favorite was the spaghetti and the fritters. My only slight disappointment was the dahl side, which tasted good but came with a large percentage of rice (not on the menu) and I’m not a rice eater. Even the masala chai was tasty. This is one of the best restaurant I’ve come across in the world (and I travel, and eat, a lot), don’t get scared by the vegetarian or Indian moniker, it is just a great meal.

I ordered the lamb jafrezi normally is really nice but today didn’t taste nice very disappointing !!!!!

On matchdays, this is the perfect pub to visit, I’d even suggest, that outside of matchdays it’s just as good! The food is fresh and served to you quickly after order and the beer (or whatever you like to drink) is served to you promptly. This is a fantastic pub with plenty of TV screens to watch any sport of your choice and full of friendly people. I would highly reccomend.

Bueno, no fuimos, porque es una comida para llevar, pero Mumbai ha sido consistentemente bueno para tal vez una docena de entregas hasta ahora ... y no puedo ver por qué dejaríamos de pedir. OK pasamos una vez y no pudimos resistirlo, así que el alegre equipo cocinó para que nos llevemos a casa (son bastante rápidos)

There was a mistake with my original order and the restaurant sorted this immediately, they are very efficient and polite. 10/10 service from Gurkha Lounge. Plus food is delicious

Very delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Olivia and Sumin were very helpful and friendly. Had an amazing dinner!!!

11/2 hours late, and even then the delivery driver had to call me to know where I lived. Despicable service and the restaurant don’t give a dam I tried calling them. They lied and said it was gone then said 5 mins then said soon

Food was 10/10😋 well done Bayleaf kitchen 👏 👌 and good value. This place is hard to beat.

Booked a table for 2. Arrived a bit early for our table but didn't have to wait to long until we were shown to the table. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We had a bit of a wait for the food but it was worth it. We will be back for sure.

En realidad no fuimos allí, pedimos. La comida llegó en un buen momento como se indica. El conductor era muy amable y educado. La comida era buena. Hemos pedido de algunas comidas para llevar en los últimos años y esto fue diferente y lo que yo diría es el sabor más auténtico que habíamos estado buscando. El curry vegetal era sabroso y mi compañera disfrutó de su curry de pollo medio. El arroz también estaba muy bien, cocinado muy bien. El plato de cortesía era un plato de arroz dulce con pudín. El mejor pudín de arroz que he probado, debería estar en el menú, como mucho de eso, tan sabroso. No hay quejas de nuestra parte y estamos pidiendo algunos platos diferentes esta noche para ver cómo son. OK, estoy pidiendo más pudín de arroz esperanzado jajaja Pruébalos, no deberías decepcionarte. 👍😀
