4 of us visited The Gaff last night for the Chef’s Table experience to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I must admit I was slightly trepidatious when we sat at the bar and were the only patrons in there. I needn’t have worried. As the restaurant filled up around us Chef Robert served up one of the best tasting menus we’d ever experienced. Every course was wonderfully unfussy, with a couple of dishes opting to make vegetables the star of the show, believe me - you’ve never had cauliflower like this. He was also a great host who clearly loves his craft and happily indulged my amateur interests in his cooking throughout the evening. All this was complimented by our American friend with a passion for Pauillac, the wine pairings were high quality, interesting but most importantly delicious. It is unbelievably good value for what you receive (£140 a head for 8 courses, 8 wines and service) and felt really special. My only thought as I exited into the cool April night, ‘I can’t wait to go back’.

Una visita obligada en Bath! Personal encantador que es muy acogedor, increíbles pasteles y una gran selección de bebidas! Es el lugar más lindo para esconderse un rato y un buen lugar para la gente que mira.

Bouvardia, a beautiful fine dining restaurant set in the hills just outside Bath city centre. The stunning presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail is evident from your approach; the aesthetics have been polished down to last detail. The grounds are intimately sized: with only ten tables offered, the service is quick and attentive meaning your food is fresh and hot! There is a beautiful lounge and bar area adjacent to the main restaurant. Attached is Bathen House Hotel and while we didn’t stay, I can only imagine the suites are similarly high quality. The staff were immediately welcoming and attentive throughout our meal, knowing when to approach and when to give you space - perfect for an intimate date night! The food, from starters to desserts, was delicious. Each dish was clearly designed with love; the palette and textures were perfectly balanced. Each umami base note was cut with a bright burst from a garnish or dressing. The richness balanced with delicate, aromatic notes. Whether you’re a bit of a food snob or you just enjoy getting out for a nice meal, you’ll appreciate this menu. We ordered the miso aubergine and tomato, and feta fritters to start; porcini risotto, and sea bass as mains; cardamom and rhubarb panna cotta, and chocolate orange torte with blood orange sorbet to finish. On the side we had dauphinoise potatoes, and tenderstem broccoli with anchovy dressing. My favourites were the miso aubergine and the cardamom and rhubarb panna cotta. The aubergine was perfectly charred, smoky and nutty with the sesame adding some textural interest to the bite. The paired caramelised walnut with the bright slivered radish was DIVINE. The cardamom cream had a deliciously biscuity profile, with an unbelievably juicy, fruity finish. The only, very minor, negative I could offer is that our sides could have done with a bit of something extra. The dauphinoise was just slightly on the dry side on the inner layers (though I really appreciated that it wasn’t drowning in heavy cream!), and the brocolli could’ve done with some more of the anchovy dressing. Even the house wines were leagues above the usual offerings! Overall, I’d have to give our experience 5 stars, we really couldn’t fault it. Thank you for having us!

I was very lucky to stumble across this lil gem in the very heart of Bath. Super atmospheric and the choice of wine by glass is excellent! And thanks to lovely Anetta I ordered a baked camembert with honey and boy that was a perfect dish for a cold rainy lunch! Will be back and definitely recommend

The Ivy in Bath had been on our list for sometime. At last, we managed to find time to go there. But .. sadly my experience at The Ivy was not what I expected (an experience I will hopefully never try again). Nice place. Over priced. My food was tough..dry & very bland. Staff: pleasant (but appeared under pressure). The service charge definitely should be an option upon paying (NOT automatic). This is easy to do ..upon paying the bill just ask the client if they wish to include the service charge.. a simple YES OR NO. (VOILA!).

The food was reasonably priced. The guys was friendly. I had the hotdog and it was good. The brioche roll was toasted and the hotdog was juicy. Overall well recommended
