The best restaurants serving French food in South East

Avoid at all cost, cafe rouge took my money and booking for an afternoon tea but the Windsor restaurant is closed and they won’t refund my money, booked via Buyagift and only after a complaint was my money refunded by buyagift, have complained to cafe rouge press office three times and no response very poor experience. Be advised that cafe rouge are still taking bookings but they have closed over twelve restaurants and still taking reservations for the closed ones.

I arrived at the upstairs bar and grill at around 5.15pm. It was half empty and I was approached by a man who I assume was the manager. I asked for a table for two, of which there were plenty. In a rather condescending tone he informed me that they were fully booked. I drew his attention to all the empty tables and was told rather abruptly and unapologetically that they would be occupied later. As it was not yet 5.30pm I think it would have been polite of him to perhaps have said, 'We are expecting a rush at about six o' clock, but you are welcome to a table until then'. After all they serve only drinks and snacks.

A la vuelta de la esquina del decepcionante café de oveja negra. Limpio, acogedor local. Amplia gama de opciones de desayuno. Muy buenos cafés especiales. Existe desde 1889. Muy recomendable.

I’ve been here a number of occasions, it’s actually my wife’s favourite restaurant for a a Sunday roast. Ironic I suppose.

El nombre ahora cambió a Grill algo:). El café se parece un poco a una cantina de trabajo y muy desagradable. El servicio es pésimo, muy lento, muy inconexo y los artículos vienen al azar. Pido bebidas y comida. 20 minutos después nada, así que pregunté dónde estaban las bebidas. 'Oh, ¿quieres bebidas ahora? 'Sí por favor, así que llegó mi bebida; luego el segundo, y luego el tercero, solo una naranja, mucho más tarde. La comida también venía en dribs y monótonos. Posiblemente el peor servicio que he tenido en mucho tiempo. La comida es bastante buena y excelentes patatas fritas. El personal es muy amable y se disculpó.

We stayed in the magnificent Spring Cottage and had dinner in the hotel. The facilities were superb and the staff and service levels were second to none. Dinner was also a triumph. Really can’t fault any aspect of our stay at this stunning property and the team that make it so special.

As I live locally, I really wanted Stanwells to work. The decor and setting are beautiful and the garden is lovely in summer. Unfortunately every single one of the 15+ visits I have made since it was refurbished have been less than satisfactory. I have experienced poor service, with drinks orders taking over 30 minutes to be taken and then incorrect or missing drinks served. An exorbitant £40 service charge on a bill where the food cost £40, the rest was a percentage of the drinks bill - this is not appropriate when only table service is available. Waiting staff rarely know the specials or details of the dishes on offer. There has often been a long wait for food. The bar manager is over friendly bordering on inappropriate as he sidles his way into private conversations. Final straw was this morning when I arranged to meet a friend for breakfast. The Orangery was empty so we asked for a table. The waitress went to check with a manager then returned to say they could not fit us in as they were fully booked for breakfast. This is appalling management, fully booked but the entire Orangery and Bar were empty. Sadly I feel I have given more than enough opportunities for Stanwells to impress (or even just not irritate!) and I will not be returning.

Lo único bueno de este lugar es el personal. La carne era demasiado hechos, así como las hortalizas (que también eran frío), y las patatas estaban medio cocinado. Y 3,25 para una botella pequeña de vino espumoso agua?! Para su crédito, el camarero no me preguntaron por qué yo apenas tocado mi comida, pero sólo le quitaron el cargo de servicio de la factura cuando de hecho debería haber acreditado mi comida que sobrara. dire! Hemos aprendido la lección y reservar con antelación en el Swan la próxima vez.

I enjoyed going to this restaurant in Witney I have been here visiting the same place on a number of occasions and I can not find any faults with this place I went today for lunch as I had a voucher to use and all the staff were very nice and helpful and friendly and BEX is a very good manager but it is a shame that the restaurant will closed it doors on the 15th February to become a bellia pasta so all the best to bex and all the staff and see you soon DAVE / SERENA
