The Brasserie in South Bucks

The only thing good about this place are the staff. The meat was over-cooked, as were the vegetables (which were also cold), and the potatoes were half-cooked. And 3.25 for a small bottle of sparking water?! To her credit, the server did ask why I barely touched my meal, but only removed the service charge from the bill when in fact should have credited my uneaten meal. Dire! Have learned our lesson and will book in advance at The Swan next time.

We popped in one Friday just after lunchtime. The barmaid was friendly when we went to the bar for drinks. A mature gent brought the specials board to us as the bar was busy. Had the most tasty roast sirloin of beef sandwich, beautiful! It was a bit pricey for a sandwich but you pay for what you get. The 3 staff members we met were polite, friendly & knew their stuff. Great place for a treat if you are on a budget. I will be returning soon.

Walked in on a Tuesday evening for a drink and maybe to eat. Bar staff were uninterested. Drink prices were very high - pint of average Brakespear, pint of Peroni and a pack of standard average Walkers crisps were £9.65! I knew we were near London - but really! Looked at the menus and moved on - There are many pubs in Denham to try. D&S 16/7

This is a lovely little pub. Quaint & interesting with a lovely garden area at the rear. We had eaten there a few times & it was above average, but on our last visit we had a poor experience & the landlord asked us not to return! I had ordered mussels, I asked if they were fresh or frozen to be told 'fresh' that day. My partner had a burger that arrived ahead of my food so when mine arrived, he had eaten over half his food (his burger was ok, as were the chips that I tried whilst waiting) We were not happy about this, we had gone there to eat together. My mussels were steaming-nice! but only the top layer.....the shells lower down were very cold with frozen ones lower down again. I sent them back after asking the waitress to test the temperature of the shells so that there was no question over the situation. The landlord came over to us, was rude in his approach, told me that I was telling lies & asked us to leave as soon as we had finished the (little) food that was left on the table. We have never returned. This last visit of ours was a while ago, I had to select July 2012 on the dropdown list given on this review page as it was the earliest date option, but our vist was a few months prior to that. I would like to think that it is a nicer place now, but I won't be trying it out.

We've always loved this pub but after paying nearly £7 for a bacon sandwich made with cheap supermarket bread, which fell apart when picked up, we wont be eating here again. We found the waitress rude and unhelpful, when we complained.
