Cafe Rouge - Witney in West Oxfordshire

At Cafe Rouge Witney tried to use 50% off mains offer on my phone. Not successful. Manager not interested and he advised to contact head office. Subsequently filled out survey and also an email to customer services. Received standard acknowledgement but that is all. I have doubts about their "we value your feedback" claim. Will not revisit again.

Food okay. Nothing special but cocktails and service were great!! Especially Rebecca who seemed to be able to handle most of restaurant with a flinch! Nice atmosphere!

We called in to have a lunch break as we were visiting Witney. We both ordered a steak baguette with chips. When it came it looked really appetising. But when we tried to eat the steak it was full of gristle . Every month full was unedible. We had to leave all the steak and just eat the baguette. The waiter didn't ask if it was OK even though we had left all the steak on the plate. Wouldn't recommend

The service was good with very friendly staff. The waiter was helpful when I needed to adjust the meal for my children. The food arrived quite quickly too. The only issue was my steak baguette was cold. Now, I didn’t complain because we were on a right time schedule and I really didn’t want to be late having to wait for them to warm it up etc. Shame they didn’t quite hit the mark with the food.

Just back from a wonderful evening at Cafe Rouge to celebrate our mums 86th birthday Sabrina the server looked after us SO well and went out of her way to make it very special for mum. Food was excellent. Thank you I would highly recommend

A group of us wanted a convivial evening and decided on Cafe FRouge due to its location and past experience. The menu items chosen varied so we had a chance to see quite a few menu items. None of us were disappointed and enjoyed the food. The outstanding feature was the waiting staff, two young people who were very friendly and efficient.

Me and my boyfriend went today on the 17th of June we thought our food was absolutely delicious as we arrived immediately got asked what drink we’d like aswell as to choose our starters and main course. We very much enjoyed it! The staff were lovely constantly checking in on us definitely go again. Our food was demolished in seconds!! Thank you again.

Saturday morning breakfast. I want to say Manger but not sure if he was, took our order French toast, and we waited 15 minutes, he then realised he hadn't passed out order to the kitchen and asked what we had ordered. It wasn't busy or difficult to place a order to kitchen. Honesty,, not great, gone down hill from what it was, won't recommend or return.sadly remembering how bad it was. We attended a meal at 4:45pm there were few customers most had been served and we sat to wait for service. One lady with red coat and plait was running around trying to serve all the customers drinks and food whilst another member of what I believe to be kitchen staff sat on their lunch and another member of staff in black sat at the bar on her laptop. We were leftwing waiting 25min for our drink order to be taken and then a further 10min after I felt the wait time to be ridiculous when one person is clearly doing all the work whilst the other watches. I felt for the girl serving us and my partner and I made the decision to leave. This was a great disappointment to us as we often visited pre lock down but doubt we shall return now. I could tell other customers were just as unhappy with the service and waiting time too.

We have visited Cafe Rouge Witney three times this week, and every single time the service was outstanding and the food was really tasty. Staff is always very friendly.The Manager Eva is very friendly, extremely polite with a great customer service.Definitely we will come back and we recommend to visit this great place in Witney.

This restaurant is well run and although the pandemic has impacted on it as in all restaurants. The management and staff have gone over and above to keep everything running well. The food is still very good and professionally presented thanks to the excellent kitchen managed by chef Betto .Front of house staff managed by Eva and Tania provide excellent service always, and all staff make you feel welcome.

The classic burger is delicious! Perfectly cooked and juicy. The chips with cheese and fries are also yummy. Would definitely order again.

Have not visited Café Rouge for over a year and we ordered our favourite meals for lunch. The portions are much smaller than previously, for instance poulet Breton was a very small amount of chicken with a very few roasted new potatoes, two or three tiny carrots, and odd bits of courgette and radish scattered across the plate, whereas previously, it was as depicted in the photo on the website, with a much larger serving of chicken. It tasted delicious, but we were a little disappointed with the portion sizes and we left slightly hungry. On the plus side, the merlot was excellent. Overall, nice food, but expensive for the amount of food served. Also, service was very slow indeed, We waited at least 45 minutes for our food to arrive.

Cafe Rouge covers all the bases with a good range of food throughout the day. Reasonably priced with a good atmosphere.Staff are dealing with the current covid related restrictions well and their welcoming approach makes it seem less of a chain restaurant. Top marks to Marcin for looking after us last night.

I last went to Cafe Rouge about 18 months ago & wasn’t too impressed. This time we took our two grandchildren aged nearly 5 & 17 months for after school tea. 3 courses for £5.95 each was very good. Sausage, mash, peas & sweet corn with a little pot of gravy was a lot healthier than the sausage & chips we’ve only been able to get in other places. Ice cream to follow. Service was good. Helpful staff, very accommodating.. Made me a second coffee when I found the first one too strong

This was my first visit to cafe rouge since lock down and honestly the team were fantastic. We were greeted by Marcin who showed us to our table and showed us the policys they had regarding sanitising and social distancing, we felt very safe. Marcin as soon as we sat down told us of the few items which weren't available which was amazing so we knew not to look at those items on the menu and then gave us a few moments before taking our drink order. The food arrived quickly and the standard was amazing. We enjoyed our little visit and would recommend to anyone visiting witney to have a quick bite to eat there. Marcin was fantastic at his job and his customer service is second to none nothing was too much, along with the rest of the team they are all true assets to the company.

This was my first meal out after lockdown and I am so impressed with the measures taken in this establishment.The good was amazing garlic mushrooms are a must!I'm very partial to the chicken with leeks and mushrooms and as always the dish was cooked to perfection.Thankyou for making us welcome and always supplying the best, well presented, mouth watering food.

Huge thanks to Cafe Rouge Witney for allowing us to book the restaurant for a private funeral party for the celebration of my husband’s life on 20th August.It was a wonderfully arranged restaurant taking in to consideration social distancing for 50 people attending. They were on hand at all times but did not interfere with the celebration- allowing us to remember and celebrate his amazing life. They kindly allowed us to display photos and other paraphernalia representing his life.Nothing was too much trouble Special thanks to Eva, Marcin and Betto for their work on the day - keeping us well fed and watered!!

Having read reviews and from previous experiences of cafe rouge (over 5 years ago and beyond) my expectations weren't high, especially as we are vegan and the menu is quite meat heavy. However, we were given a voucher so have it a try. We were really pleasantly surprised!! Although not huge, there was a good vegan menu. Despite this, I still what sure how nice it would be. The starter was amazing - carrot and shallot tatin!! Up there with the nicest starters I've had, the main courses (burger and risotto) were good and the dessert (cherry tatin with vegan ice cream) was really good too. Service was pretty good and staff really friendly. I find the restaurant quite noisy, despite being a half full Thursday evening, and it's looking a little shabby but overall we were both really impressed! Definitely exceeded both out expectations!!

I came here with a family member before going to see a film at the cinema next door.I ordered the salmon to start and then the creme brulee. My sister-in-law had a toasted mushroom sandwich and then the cherry tart. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals...no complaints in that front. The price was about right I'd say. Attentiveness from the team serving was a bit lacking, they were friendly though.I'd definitely eat here again.

Since the last General Manger left, every visit has been worse than the one before. We used to frequent this branch, but will not return after our last experience. 2 main courses were sent back as they were inedible and covered in oil. The manager took one main off however this was already free with our taste card, so this made no difference to the price we paid. She came over as aggressive and accusatory when I questioned the incorrect bill. There is one saving grace to this restaurant and that is the pregnant young lady who often serves us. God knows what will happen when she is on maternity leave. What a shame one of our favourite spots has become one of the worst.

If Carlsberg did slow service it would be here! With 7 members of staff (3 sat down eating and one doing staff development training) and with only 3 tables occupied it took over 20 minutes from receiving the dessert menu to eventually ordering! Staff need to be more attentive to their customers as opposed to their friends and colleagues. Based on this we will not be back!

For £14.95 per head we had a pleasant two course meal from the fixed price menu. It was quite busy when we went, and the restaurant is quite noisy at busy times ( little in the way of carpets, curtains etc to dampen the noise). Surprisingly they did not have any horse radish sauce to go with the main course.

Really sad experience - poor service … waiting for long periods of time … had to ask for ketchup 3 times … was sat right next to the door when plenty of empty tables … lots of empty tables waiting to be cleared (looked chaotic) … unfriendly staff not given to smiling. There were 5 front of house staff. But to be fair the food was good (although steak was grissly, but it was nicely cooked); the service just made the food seem poor.

Called here for a late lunch on a Monday. Food well up to Cafe Rouge standards. Service very good (although, because it was mid-afternoon on a wet Monday, it wasn't busy! Nonetheless, that doesn't always follow at certain establishments at which we've eaten in the past). Very friendly and efficient staff.Even better, we had a discount code entitling us to half price mains; but CR prices are quite reasonable anyway, given the quality, ambience and service.Our previous Cafe Rouge experiences have been at the Leamington Spa branch, which is quite small and a bit cramped (but not so much that we haven't been back!). The Witney branch, in contrast is nice and roomy, with decent space between tables.
