Cafe Rouge Windsor in Windsor and Maidenhead

Avoid at all cost, cafe rouge took my money and booking for an afternoon tea but the Windsor restaurant is closed and they won’t refund my money, booked via Buyagift and only after a complaint was my money refunded by buyagift, have complained to cafe rouge press office three times and no response very poor experience. Be advised that cafe rouge are still taking bookings but they have closed over twelve restaurants and still taking reservations for the closed ones.

Having booked before departing to Windsor, we arrived saying "hello" to the barman, To be replied to by a lady behind him. "we're closed" There were people eating! We showed our booking email to which she shouted to another waitress these lot want afternoon brunch. (There were 3 of us ladies). To which I thought no we can't eat here they were so angry it was like wed trailed shi* through the restaurant. The barman said no its fine but tbh the way we were spoken to was disgraceful, We ended up in Bills who said they'd had disgruntled customers from there before. Shame really as we were looking for to it.

This restaurant offers a selection of French style cooking. The food was tasty, the staff welcoming and it's a nice building. I enjoyed the pie which was full of filling, had yummy pastry and came with some lovely mash. The sea bass was good, however, some of the new potatoes were still a bit crunchy. We both had sticky toffee pudding and they were served at room temperature, we decided the ice cream would not survive them being warmed up so just ate them cold.

Great venue, superb coffee, excellent pastries and the service from Bertrand was prompt, informative and extremely entertaining! We didn’t need breakfast the food looked gorgeous! An absolute must when visiting Windsor.

We made the mistake of relying upon the reputation of other Café Rouge outlets to have lunch here. Located in the historic railway station complex in Windsor, it is busy only because of passing tourists, but most certainly not because of the food or service. While the servers were friendly enough, the food was poor (especially for the prices) and service was painfully slow. There are absolutely better places to eat, so don't bother with this place.

Went there for lunch on a lovely sunny Saturday and faced a bunch of rude clueless staff about how to give good customer service. I had to stop one of the three staff passing our table for over 15 minutes to take out order and when I said I had been waiting he said I am busy, and when I told them I wouldn’t pay the service charge, she didn’t care about it or try to find out why I wasn’t happy. If customer service is important to you as it should be part of dining out, don’t go there.

The food was wasn’t as good as pre covid. The whole place just feels run down and outdated. Disappointed we chose to spend our Father’s Day lunch here.

Yet again Café Rouge was appalling. We visited Windsor for a few days away and decided to have dinner at Café Rouge on our last night. The service was poor and the food we ordered was very poor value for money. The Duck Confit was mainly made up of potatoes, no sauce and not good value for money. My wife had beef bourguignon, it was mainly gravy with very little meat and some potato., again very poor value for money. The drinks were very expensive and the waiter took three attempts to get our bill right. Our local Café Rouge in Ruislip and also in Pinner closed down last year where we had a very similar poor experience of food and service. NEVER go to Café Rouge.

We arrived five minutes after their 9am opening time and were greeted with the comment ‘sorry, we don’t have any milk at the moment’. We agreed that we would,have coffee without milk as we were in s bit of a hurry. The breakfast was mediocre, brittle toast clearly from yesterday’s bread, one half rasher of bacon - £1.50 as an extra with scrambled egg, eggs benedict with bright yellow glutinous hollandaise sauce and grey ham…They were clearly having a bad day, and so were we. Having been to this Cafs Rouge the day it opened, this was a huge let down.

Had a lovely pre-theatre meal, served by Luke, who was very helpful & Friendly. We had Olives to start, glasses of wine & Chicken & Veggie Burgers, both lovely; followed by Chocolate pudding, Crème Brulee & Coffee.

Enjoyed a meal for two and staff are very attentive and professional. Lovely candle lit ambience and tasty French cuisine. Even better when you have discount vouchers if you sign up to website.

Cafe rouge brand is so underrated these days! Such a shame as they have great dishes (only my favourite duck confit is no longer on the menu :(( ) and always taste to perfection. Can't find better prawns anywhere else! Shout out to Luke who was taking care of us and was just amazing, thank you!

We had a lovely lunch today at Cafe Rouge. I wish I had asked for our waiter’s name. (He may have been the manager). Anyway, he couldn’t have made us feel more welcome and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious and I would definitely return next time I’m in Windsor. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch. Thank you Cafe Rouge.

We had a meal here this weekend after a trip Christmas shopping. Overall the food was lovely and fair value for money. Also a good Mojito and they aren’t always easy to find. Great kids options and calamari was fresh and tasty. The service was also superb. The only reason I didn’t give a full score was the Ladies toilets were a bit grim. Both in terms of cleanliness and decor.

This restaurant has a very friendly staff. Husband and I had a delicious dinner of sea bass accompanied by broccoli, green beans and wonderful potatoes. Shared creme brulee for dessert. Yum. The manager served us and was absolutely charming. Would eat here again.

We were met at the door by the manager Bertrand who let us choose a table, we had a two course lunch which was beautifully cooked, Bertrand and his team particularly our waitress Jadewiga were an absolute delight, we had a lovely time.

I haven't been to a Cafe Rouge for a long time and the one I went to was not great but this one was recommended by a friend who lives in Windsor. We sat outside but undercover. It was just about warm enough! We went with the set menu that offers a decent choice. We managed 3 courses at about £19 plus £5 for a decent quality glass of wine. The food was very nice quality and plentiful. I had garlic mushrooms followed by Breton chicken and a chocolate dessert. They were Covid secure too, insisting on taking details. Service was friendly and very efficient.

Met a friend for dinner and it was just delicious.Their dining area is outside but undercover with the tables well spaced out so felt very covid safe.They have a set menu on at the moment which is 2 courses for £14.95. The baked camembert to start was gooey heaven and the fish cake main was full of flavour. I would definitely recommend. Well done Cafe Rouge!

Mr B (Bertrand), went above and beyond. There was a long-standing issue with my Virgin Experience voucher but Mr B honoured it instead of us having to return two weeks later to use it. The food was delicious and the service from all of the staff was second to none. I would highly recommend this branch of Cafe Rouge.
