Went here on Saturday night, booked a table for 8 In January Arrived on time and had to track down a member of staff to say we were here.Told table was not ready yet, have a drink at the bar, 1 hour later again had to ask what the bloody how was going on, no apology, no offer of a drink, there then rushed a table together.Upon getting to the table we found that only 7 places had been set not 8, the table was only big enough for 6 anyway, still no apologies, we then asked the table next to us how long they had been waiting for there starters, they said one hour and were sti waiting. At that point we dicided to leave, still without an appoligie, the staff and management of this place need to drastically up there game, unless you have plenty of time on your hands then avoid this place like the plague

Me and my partner are always eating out and tend to go on other peoples reviews however we didn't find much on this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised when we turned up the staff were there to greet us and it had such a buzzing environment. We went straight to our table and offered water and a drink. It's is small in there but it makes it cosy, i literally liked every starter on the menu so found it hard to decide I went for the king prawns in the end and the portion was big and the flavour was immense ! It had one of the best menus I have seen and apparently they change the menu every week. The food was tasty and a good size portion, great service by the staff aswell so friendly and polite. I will definatley be returning and will recommend this place to friends and family !

This restaurant is now called La Fourchette, and we visited on a Friday evening. In its previous incarnation, it was a restaurant only and now is a Bar/Restaurant. The bar area now takes up the larger floor area and therefore it is noisy. VERY noisy. So noisy we struggled to hear what the waiters were saying to us when they came to take out order! The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented. The wine selection was good as well. But although the food was great, I will not be returning because of the noisy atmosphere.

I am not sure if this review should be here or somewhere else (recently Pascal has been renamed and it is called La Fourchette now) but the staff, chef, menu and food are exactly the same so I will write it here until the "new" restaurant gets its own page. I have never had a disappointing meal in this restaurant. The food is always amazing, delicious and cooked perfectly. The staff is very friendly and fast. We are always very happy here. The new refurbishment works better. It added more character and privacy to the restaurant. So well done for doing that. Probably it is one of my favourite places in Brighton/Hove. I would definitely recommend it.I will be more than happy to post it on La Fourchette page but I couldn't find the current one.

This is our second visit, last being about 3 years ago. The we had starters, mains and desserts, all of which we're excellent in taste and presentation. My fillet steak was cooked perfectly to my request. The ambience of the restaurant was ideal for a Saturday evening dinner with friends and the service was also fantastic (particularly the tall Frenchman who also served us 3 years ago - was lovely to see him there again!). I have recommended this venue to friends and family before and will continue to do so as well as frequent the venue again in the future.

We've been going to Brasserie Pascal fairly regularly and always had a great dining experience. Today was our first visit since a longer while, and the service was slow as never before, we were seated or rather squashed between tables, and then had to wave at the waiter few times to get him pass on the menus,as he forgot about us while tending to a bigger group. Then we had to ask another waiter to check what was going on with our drinks, and 2 min after our food arrived, before the drinks ! The tables are now set so close that the staff can barely pass. Our table was knocked twice by the waiting staff, after which I got few pats on my shoulder from one of the waiters! I'm not your mate okay!Don't think I will be going back for Sunday Roast, despite the delicious food as atmosphere is not the same anymore, and the partition in the restaurant made it smaller, felt like suffocating.Perhaps the owner thought, was to make it a proper Parisian place, with tables right next to one another, and bad service from the front of the house Frenchman !

I came here with my husband and two boys on a hot summer's evening when the World Cup was on. We were slightly scruffy, having spent the afternoon at the beach, and were going back to London by train later that evening. We stopped off at Brasserie Pascal in part because my son was desperate to see the Argentina game, and they were discreetly showing it inside. We also wanted a simple seafood supper. We received a warm welcome at this smart brasserie and were all absolutely delighted by the delicious food and absolutely charming service. The owners are French and just seemed to know their stuff. The moules mariniere were lovely, as was the chilled Chablis. We'll be back.

Before writing this review, I took the time to read some of the others that other people have written about Pascal's. Clearly whether one gets a good meal here is a bit hit and miss with many people reporting truly dreadful experiences and others having had a wonderful time. It would seem that there is very little median. Regardless, I am happy to report that my experience of eating here was fantastic.Seeing as how I frequently eat on my own, I'm somewhat accustomed to being treated as though I had some sort of contagious disease for having had the audacity to not bringing someone else to dine with. Pascal's on the other hand couldn't have been friendlier and more accommodating. From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel welcome. The menu and the specials were explained to me in a very charming and affable way by Pascal himself and when they arrived, they were simply delicious.I ordered Gambas in chilli oil to start and had Pork Belly to follow. All of which were cooked to perfection. The whole experience left me wanting to come back again. The only reason I haven't given this place 5 stars is that the decor is very dated and it's rather reminiscent of the Crossroads hotel from the late 1970s. Still, don't let this put you off.

Me and my partner visited Brasserie Pascal with his parents for a Saturday lunch. The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable and nicely decorated and there were a few other tables eating inside and outside. The service was welcoming, friendly, and unobtrusive. The waiter who served us was a real pro and very charming! The thing I must stress though is the food. Holy moly the food was fantastic. I had breast of duck with a fruit crumble for pudding, my partner had duck confit followed by chocolate tart. Absolutely beautiful flavors, well-cooked, and sensible portions, and extremely good value. Certainly one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant for years just in terms of the quality of the food. Will be back soon!

First visit to Brasserie Pascal's for years and unfortunately it was disappointing despite a good sized dining room and an outside terrace for well priced cocktails. The service initially was friendly, three different servers, but brisk. We had our drinks poured, our food ordered and were served our first course in under 15 minutes! The duck liver pate was smooth and tasty but the country pate with onion chutney was damp from a cold fridge so didn't have much flavour. We then waited nearly 45 minutes for the second course. No-one appeared to notice until we asked what was happening, and it wasn't busy. My good sized portion of cod with tapenade was overcooked and the potato and tomato tian dry. The fat on the slow cooked belly pork hadn't rendered down despite its 6 hour bake. The wine list is safe, and our (free) expressos as an apology were grainy. I would love Brasserie Pascal's to be my reliable neighbourhood restaurant but sadly that won't be happening.

During a short stay in Sussex, my wife and I entertained another couple for dinner at Pascal. On asking for my favourite aperitif, Gin and Noilly Prat, I was told they did not have French Vermouth (in a French restaurant!) but they did have dry Martini. Then they did have the selected white Muscadet, but not my first choice red wine from the wine list, so had to search for an alternative. The final Fawlty Towers touch occurred when the waitress dropped an item of used cutlery into my lap leaving greasy stains on my trousers. However, she was so sweet and distraught that I could not really get angry. That apart, the food was superb, well presented, and courteously served. Our choices ranged from escargots, gravadlax, mussels, mains of steak, confit of duck and scallops plus an excellent range of desserts, all at reasonable prices. All in all, Pascal is a pleasant restaurant to be in, and I would not hesitate to return during any future visit.David HollingdaleEdinburgh

Food was good wine great and yes you do get some noisy plonkers but hey ho its 630pm everyone has finished work and they are all out out. Had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. The quality of the service is very poor....at times non existent! They need to go back to basics with some customer service training. We arrived and chose to sit outside, we waited for at least 30 minutes for drinks to arrive-there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant-I really would dread to think what it's like if/when they ever got busy. The waiter's lack of standards was apparent right from his appearance, the most crumpled shirt I've seen and nails which were dirty-this does not fill the customer with much confidence!Starters arrived....still no wine so we had to prompt for that. For each course at least one in the party had dirty cutlery which had to be returned.Part of the dessert was frozen and when we highlighted this it was simply ignored (by another waiter who was equally as unkempt and lacked interest.) I questioned if he had a chance to discuss the frozen dessert with the chef to which he slammed (literally) a new dessert on the table with....yes 4 dirty spoons! Appalling! The bill-over £150 for a really disappointing experience.Avoid at all costs Will certainly NOT be recommending or returning. This is such a shame as the Hove area is a thriving one for independent restaurants that as residents we like to see do well. For this restaurant to be a part of this they need to change fast and invest in retraining for their waiting staff. Already they have a poor reputation with several bad reviews that they haven't even bothered addressing?

My partner and I dine at this restaurant quite often and every meal has been good or great - even on Valentines Day!! (I wonder what Upthealbion chose to eat). Anyway, we were horrified to read the article in the Argus and decided to go to the restaurant for lunch. I had the Fish Cake Starter followed by the Calves Liver, which I like pink and my parter had the Goat's Cheese starter followed by the Roast Chicken. Both meals were beautifully served and cooked to perfection. Frederic, our waiter, was attentive without being obsequious or hovering. We had a great lunch. Before we left, I asked about the article and Pascal. Frederic told me that the Council visit was in February just at the time the previous chef left. Coincidence - maybe. Be that as it may, I was shown the kitchen and met the new chef. The kitchen was spotlessly clean and appeared to be grease-free. Yes, there were a couple of items on the floor but the kitchen porter was in the process of cleaning down the area. The 'new' chef is English and his cooking and presentation, as I have said, were excellent. I have only marked 'very good' today because it was lunch and I save my 'excellent' marks for dinner! We had our mothers day meal here, and wanted to take the time to say what a lovely meal we had.Restaurant was obviously busy but I didn't find that impacted on our experience. We all had the roast dinner which had generous portion of roast chicken and the beef was melt in your mouth perfect! All served with the yummiest gravy I've ever had, we even asked for extra portions of which we were given without fuss! I don't usually bother with reviews but can't understand why there haven't been more excellent reviews of this restaurant. Chef makes the best roasts in Hove!!

My parents chose to go her for my dad's birthday. As soon as we said we didn't want an expensive bottle of wine or champagne & we weren't having a 3course meal we were forgotten about. My dad ordered well done rack of lamb & was told will take 20mins. At which point we ordered a few starters to share 40mins after the starters were taken away we still hadn't got our mains. We'd had empty wine glasses by then for some time let alone water the bottle& no1 offered us more wine or water we had to physically grab the waiters. When our mains did arrive mine tasted quite good but my husbands & mothers cold, dry &bland. Long after we'd finished eating our plates were still on the table & when eventually they were removed no1 offered us a dessert menu, after a long wait we again had to get up to ask a waiter for a dessert menu, which unsurprisingly took ages to arrive. The same happened with coffee, around us there were people being served much faster who did not have to deal with this type of service as they ordered the top price food & wine. It was not that we spent nothing it cost £140 & was my dads 65 birthday, yet had to deal with rude/grumpy waiters who ignored us. Unless u are prepared to spend big money money (& have time to share) forget this the food isn't bad but its the appalling service we remember.

We visited Brasserie Pascale for Sunday lunch having intended on going to the Tin Drum, to find that it was closed so we needed an alternative. First signs were not fantastic, we had to wait for ages to receive our menus, and then longer to place out order (and I was absolutely ravenous, which always puts me in an impatient/grumpy mood!) I ordered the oysters, which were perfectly serviceable- not gritty and no gastrointestinal fireworks afterwards which is all I ask for with oysters! My partner had the duck liver parfait which he said was tasty, but was rather grey from sitting out for too long- and the two matchbox sized pieces of brioche were not sufficient for the dish. Luckily we had ordered bread, but this is one of my bug bears, you shouldn't have to order extra bread to accommodate a pate/parfait. For the main course I had roast beef, and I have to say that the beef was really lovely, thinly sliced, tender and with a minimal amount of gristle. Sadly, the potatoes had the mouth feel of leather (albeit with a lovely duck-fatty taste) and the veg were really nothing to write home about- the red cabbage was far too spiced for my liking, it was a bit like eating Christmas cake with a roast dinner. A bit of a mixed bag, but not a terrible roast- nor a delicious one, I just felt that for £14 I could have got far better elsewhere. My partner had the seabass and was distinctly disappointed, the portion size was tiny for the price and he wasn't particularly pleased with the flavours (I'll have to take his word on this, I'm not a fish eater myself so didn't fancy trying it!)The meal itself was bordering on the nice side of average, but I felt that the service really let them down. We had to wait for ages to be served, and again when we wanted to pay the bill and our waiter was the most brusque I have come across in recent years. It may be that we were coming in after the end of a very stressful lunch services (it was Mother's Day after all) but I really didn't appreciate his attitude. For the amount they charge per dish I really think you can get a better meal and service elsewhere, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend against going- I just wouldn't choose to visit again.

Dined on a Thursday night. It looked quite 'Allo 'Allo style, it was early and there was only one other couple in there. Waiters very friendly and house wine (white) pretty good. I went for a rare ribeye steak and it turned up raw. So low marks to the kitchen. Toilets are up steep wooden stairs ( I'd just had a few spinal injections that afternoon so I was delighted to see these). No other diners turned up that night so apart from my witty banter there was no one to entertain the waiters. Picked the wrong night I guess.

The food is truly wonderful. I had Rack of Lamb, my wife Sea Bass, our friends had Duck and Chicken dishes. All of these were presented beautifully, tasted excellent and were of a good quantity. These were also very good value for money. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone - terrific - will always return there when next in Brighton.

We often frequent Pascals the friendly atmosphere is second to none, on this occassion we were not dissappointed, Although I had booked late they never made us feel unwelcome so we were never rushed, my sister was in a fragile state having just finished her C treament and the staff came up tops although unaware of her state. She remarked on their cheerful friendly service the food was delicious the scallops so large and juicy I was loathed to share but felt others should have the pleasure! Such a pleasant evening. We introduced friends that evening who made a point of saying they will return, good news for Brasserie Pascal.

Service is extremely efficient and friendly yet not intrusive. Most importantly however the food is always of a high standard in both taste and presentation. Please do not change! We visited for a family birthday. A relatively large group we found ourselves in an otherwise quiet setting with only around 4/5 other covers during our time in the restaurant. This worked in our favour as the service was speedy and attentive without being cloying. We were greeted upon arrival and sat promptly with our coats being taken. Our drinks order became a little confused as the (new?) waitress was unsure about one of the drinks and rather than ask she just chose to not bring the it. Once sorted though we settled in to choosing from the extensive menu. The choice here is plentiful but be sure to be prepared for a dish that is heavily laced with oil, cream or both! The starters arrived in very good time and were presented beautifully. The terrine was simply gorgeous with the onion jam and hot toast. Across the board the consensus was that the mains were delicious and the puddings....well the pear tart was possibly the best dessert I have ever experienced. I would return just for that!!Over all a lovely experience although I do wonder how much of that was down to the lack of other customers. The few mix ups we had could have been much magnified if the waitress had been rushed in anyway. As it was they were sorted promptly by her colleague with good humour and politeness and so caused no real concern.

This is one of the few restaurants in Hove that we have been back to more than once. Whenever we are there we are treated like royalty by the staff, all of whom are friendly and good natured. The food is very good, largely classic French cuisine and the staff all know the menu well and make recommendations. Not the cheapest but worth the money and knocks the spots of L'Eglise - a nearby french restaurant that everyone seems to rave about.

Second visit to Pascals and it didn't disappoint - just as good as the first time last year. There is a varied and interesting selection for all courses. I had the lamb cutlets which were melt-in-the mouth delicious and cooked just as I had asked for. The service is attentive and the restaurant itself has a welcoming and comforable atmosphere. A little way out of the normal restaurant hub, but well worth the visit. Cant't wait to go to Brighton again to eat here.

Shown to our table by one waiter who then left us without any drinks menu, waited for a while wondering if we had been forgotten before another waiter brought us a menu and asked us if we wanted water. Waited with no water arriving and our drinks order not being taken. Finally theres a lovely French female waiter who took our order and came through with it. She had a great knowledge of wine and was very friendly. We ordered the pork roast and the farm chicken roast with both looking impressive when they arrived. My partner enjoyed theirs but my farm chicken roast was terrible, no meat on the bone at all, I was spitting out bits of gristle and bone throughout the meal. The yorkshire pudding was like dried up old cardboard. The saving grace was the wine so it turned into a liquid lunch for me really. It's a nice venue, the french waitress is lovely and the wine was great, my partner enjoyed theirs but in my opinion the food and the service overall was very poor.

I love this restaurant and eat here 2 or 3 times a month as its within 100 metres of where I live. The express lunch is great value for top-notch food - I judge French restaurants on their minute steak and Pascal's is superb.Quite honestly, everything on the menu is great but the notable dishes for me are the garlic prawns, the Moroccan lamb and for special occasions the Chateaubriand. The assiette of mini desserts is the only choice for pud and my advice would be to allow one the friendly and experienced staff to choose the right wine - I have never been disappointed.

We went to this restaurant as the one we had been hoping to visit was closed for a private party. We have seen it many times before but always avoided it as it looked a bit stuffy, expensive and unfriendly from the outside. In fact it couldn't have been much nicer-although the décor is a little tired and dated this is more than made up for by the friendliness of all the staff and the excellent choice of food. We shared the duck starter-it was really nice, with plenty of different choices of duck, including breast and terrine portions. We also shared a fish platter, again plenty of variety and very tasty. We had received very bad news earlier that day-the waiter sensed that we were in need of privacy and was so kind and caring. I am sorry that we have passed this place by in the past-we will definitely visit again.

A comfortable restaurant with a full menu but it lacks any real excitement and some of the presentation is lacking. The slow roast shoulder of lamb was delicious but let down by the rather lazy roast new potatoes and mushrooms that came with it. The starter of king prawns at £11 was again, let down by its presentation, which wasn't appetising to look at. Main course plates were left for ages after we'd finished, even though the bistro wasn't busy. With the many many restaurants in Brighton/Hove to choose from, I'd probably not return.

I shared a duck platter to start with, bizarre! A huge platter of in edible bits of neck and gristle, with two slabs of terrine offered in an attempt to redeem itself. My main course was pork belly, it arrived charred around the edges and my first mouthful was my last, bitter, sour burnt flesh, vile! I'm surprised that the chef had the arrogance to send this sad offering out of his kitchen, does he have no pride? The waiter service was hopelessly bad, dropped glasses, woefully bad service, avoid!

Been to this Brasserie many times, the thing that strikes me is that be it a quick lunch, a drink after work, sitting in the glorious sun, or a blow out in the evening from their extensive menu, you are going to have a very enjoyable time. The lunch for 4 of us was chosen from their lunchtime specials menu and was great value for good quality food. There was something for all of us and broad smiles were evident. Can this be the same restaurant that I visited for my daughter's birthday last November? We had an absolutely wonderful lunch. Perhaps this was because we wanted a long, leisurely lunch rather than eat and go. We had champagne and chateaubriand, with excellent starters and pudding. I would have recommended it to a friend tonight, until I saw the other recent reviews. I do hope this restaurant hasn't changed hands since I was there. I am amazed that other people have had such a different experience.

This is a copy of my complaint email to this restaurant. Unsurprisingly, they never bothered to reply. I just wanted to make you aware of an awful dining experience I had at your restaurant on Tuesday 9th July. I booked the restaurant to visit with work clients from London (8 of us at 7pm) in what I hoped would be an impressive meal. We arrived at our booked time of 7pm and were shown to our table. After 30 minutes of no service we had to call a waiter over and ask for some menus. The waiter said "I'll see if I can find you any menus" but really sounded like we were putting him out of his way! I'd also add here that it was a very hot day and it would've been nice to be given some water straight away. He brought menus over and after another 30 minutes (we'd now been there an hour) we were getting really thirsty, hungry and fed up. Numerous times we tried to catch a waiter's eye but none were looking at their customers. One of my clients even went up to the guy at the bar and asked if we could order some drinks but he said no, we'd have to wait for our waiter. She was really unimpressed with the restaurant. What the barman should have done is call our waiter over straight away. Finally after 1 hour and 10 mins of being there we had our order taken but only because we went over to our waiter and asked him to come and take our order. We hoped the rest of the night would be better but it wasn't. After such a long wait for our order to be taken we expected (hoped) our drinks and the bread and olives would arrive really quickly but we had to wait another 20 minutes. We could see the bread on the side and my clients were joking about going and helping themselves, we were so hungry. We never even received the olives, despite the fact we were sat next to them in a jar on the side of the bar. The first round of drinks we ordered was a jug of Pimms. We were never asked if we wanted to order more drinks. We would have ordered wine with the meal but we weren't asked. We were clearly sat there with empty glasses most of the evening. Finally a few minutes after our drinks arrived and after 90 minutes wait, our starters arrived. I must say, the food was very very nice but the damage had already been done and everyone was really shocked and unimpressed with the restaurant. 2 people had ordered steaks - one rare and one medium but when the waiter brought them over he just said "who's having steak". We explained one should be rare and one medium but he just shrugged and said we'd have to work it out for ourselves. After cutting into them we established they had both been cooked the same. We couldn't face ordering pudding by the time we'd finally finished our mains and needless to say we didn't pay service. My clients were totally unimpressed with the whole experience and I felt really stupid and embarrassed for taking them there. I still can't believe how bad the service was - it honestly was like something from Fawlty Towers if you know what that TV show is. I would strongly advise you to employ a whole new set of staff if you want your restaurant to survive. As I say, the food was really very nice (apart from the steak) but the service needs to match, otherwise people won't return.

My Husband and I dined here for our anniversary. We were expecting top notch at this restaurant considering its décor, menu and location. Unfortunately it did not provide us with a great service. The staff were friendly but under immense pressure as they were very evidently under staffed! Service was slow and the staff seemed panicked and were practically apologising to every table for the delay. The atmosphere was plain and a bit unnecessary snobby, one chap next to us had his wine sent back because it wasn't to his standard. I thought this to be a bit silly as it was hardly a Michelin star establishment. Although the menus were very tatty the actual food was fine and we did enjoy a bottle of champagne at a reasonable price. We would not be inclined to dine here again.

I was staying on business for two nights at a nearby hotel without any evening food service. As someone who travels on business, I am always on the alert for places that treat lone femaie diners well. The outdoor terrace with view down to the seafront, pris fixe mene and smart appearance made this brasserie stand out among other bars and ethnic eateries. The first night I was impressed with the linen napkins, swift and pleasant service and well balanced menu. Returning the second night, clearly a ditterent shift of waiters were on duty. I was left ignored at the entrance while the maitre d/head waiter chatted away to his lightly clad friend with model looks and well honed muscles. When shown to a table, I was not best pleased to see a couple who had come in after me receiving their first course before me.I had to wait a long time after being seated before the waiter came back to my table to take an order. This seemed to be because he had a great deal to say, returning to them several times, to a group at a nearby table, draping his arm over the shoulders of the man of the party.I don't appreciate a gesture akin to that of a traffic cop halting the traffic when I tried to catch his eye. Obviously the waiter on the first night, and indeed the younger man on the second night who actually brought the food to the table, were not like this but waiters who treat me as an interruption to their social life, make me wait or as of less value than other customers do not prompt recommendations or return visits.

Recently went for our third visit to Brasserie Pascal. Whilst our waiters was polite, informative and friendly - speed wasn't high on his personal agenda nor attention to detail. My wife and I ordered a dozen oysters to share as a starter. They were very good but sadly only ten were delivered to our table and I am sure that a dozen means twelve - a fact I politely pointed out to our waiter who blamed the kitchen for not informing him there were only ten left. He assured us he would amend the bill for us. The main course, I had rib eye steak and my wife had the Dover Sole which was duly delivred as requested sans head, skin and tail. She was happy and the mains were delicious once my steak knife arrived at least. A couple came in and were shown to the table next to us whilst we were finishing our mains. We were up against a deadline to relieve the babysitter so had elected to forgo desert and coffee and just asked for the bill. This took 10 mins to arrive and what amazed me was that vthe waiter had three opportunities - clearing our table, delivering the bill and bringing the card machine to our table - to furnish our new neighbours with menus but this was missed at every opportunity. As we left, so did the disgrunled and hungry couple. Good food will never be enough to overcome poor service but amazingly, we have been to many restaurants where good (but not fantastic) food has been turned into a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable evening by exceptional service.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local business owner from a produce store in the area. Not knowing the area at all it was comforting to have such a recommendation. We visited late afternoon mid weekThe restaurant looks nice enough from the outside. It probably looks very inviting at night time. The menus handed to us could have benefited from a good clean, they were quite dirty. The menu was very good and we both chose seafood salad which was well presented and fresh and not overly expensive. But.....I agree with other reviewers regarding the service. Our waiter was polite enough but we had to repeatedly grab his attention for silly things like....ordering for example! .....and slow to clear our empty plates, slightly irritating as we were the only table inside the restaurant..and here lies the problem.....located immediately outside the restaurant were the local version of the men from Lock Stock and..chainsmoking right next to the open door on a windy day. Lovely! !..and unfortunately they seemed to have the misguided belief that they were the most important people in the restaurant and as such the waiter was there solely to put their needs and constant demands first before any other customers. The waiter confirmed that they were locals who visit the restaurant every day. Indeed he seemed quite in awe of them. I, on the other hand, felt quite the opposite !!There was a strange atmosphere in the place....like something was about to kick off.To be honest, having been served a 'sharing' dessert with rancid fresh cream (which was duly taken off the bill ) we were relieved to pay and go.Shame really because with a bit more attention and a loss of the local 'would be' mafia....this could be a really nice restaurant.

Inattentive staff was the main problem rather than bad food - having to ask for something 5 times never makes you feel like you're being listened to! The food was fine - although for the price it could have been better. We still had a good night but it could have been great with a bit more attention to detail and to your customers!

We have been to Pascal's a few times and enjoyed the ambience and the food but our last visit was terrible. The food was OK but the service was unbelievably poor. Our starter arrived after a reasonable period of time, but clearly they had forgotten to put in our main course order. As we were deeply engaged in our conversation we did not notice the 3/4 of an hour had gone by. Indeed it was not until a waiter asked us what we wanted for dessert that we realised we had not received our main course. We called over the head waiter to point this out. He was very off hand, made no apologies and said it was just coming. 10 minutes later, still no food and so we asked him again, his response was again very off hand and he said that he would chase up the kitchen, again no apology! Had it not been that we were entertaining a guest from Asia we would have walked out at this point. Finally the food came, some 90 minutes after they had cleared our starter and was OK, not as good as we had previously remembered it, but that may have been the frustration of waiting. After dinner the head waiter brought over a plate of assorted desserts, dumped them on the table unceremoniously and said "that is for your wait".On receiving the bill the desserts were included so again we mentioned this to the head waiter and without apology (common theme!) he took it away to remove it. Overall a very poor performance, although our friend did remark that he thought Fawlty Towers was fictional! There seems to have been a large turn over of staff and there were mostly inexperienced waiters on the floor so we accept that the head waiter was very busy and that mistakes happen. However, service recovery is an important aspect of all resteraunts service.Needless to say Pascal's is off of the list!

Everything about this place is too much. There's too much going on. However, it feels like they are not really sure what vibe they want to go for. Also, there are a lot of people that go here that look the same, so maybe confused and sloppy is the way they want. When the bands are playing, it's loud and cluttered. Truly lucky to get 2 stars in all honesty.

Sad to say the cover over the rear garden has gone thanks to our useless council, but a planning request is in using the petition as proof the roof is needed. The menu is still expansive, from peppers du padron to fillet and giant prawns. Excellent quality and quantity.
