Père Waffle in Southampton

Name now changed to Grill something :). The cafe looks a bit like a works canteen and very off putting. The service is appalling, very slow, very disjointed and items come at random. I order drinks & food. 20 mins later nothing, so I asked where the drinks were. 'Oh you want drinks now?' Yes please, so my drink arrived; later the second, and then third, just an orange, much later. The food too came in dribs and drabs. Possible the worst service I have had for ages. Food pretty good though and excellent chips. Staff very friendly and apologetic.

Visited on 04.05.19. The door said they opened at 8am, the website that we had looked at that morning said 9am but we got there at 9.30am to find the restaurant closed. Very annoying. Although looking the reviews perhaps that’s a good thing, as there seems to be issues with staffing and hygiene. We ended up going into the Marlands and visiting Stakks Pancake house. Probably best to avoid this place.

My god! So so bad. My friend and I went to have breakfast and everything was awful but the hot chocolate. Sweet waffles tasted really bad and the orange juice (they said was natural...) seemed processed. I dont really recommend this place... Good luck!

Had a very bad experience with the food! Overpriced and filthy! Recommend eating elsewhere, chef don’t wear gloves when preparing food. Rubbish everywhere! Don’t go there!

Cute industrial chic vibes. Very friendly helpful staff. We got welcomed upon arrival, and got served promptly. We had stuffed savoury waffles, that were very filling and fresh. Good selection, with attention to detail. Good start to the day, looking forward to trying dessert waffles 😋

Dropped into Pere Waffle at about 1pm on a saturday with a couple of friends, was ignored by staff members for a while and eventually ordered at the counter, it was not clear from the fact that sometimes the staff came over to tables but sometimes they didnt..? They forgot my friend's drink that comes with the waffle she ordered, though the rest of the food was good. My friend's vegan diet was accommodated which was impressive, but other than that, we felt a bit ignored by staff. Good food, service quality needs a polish.

I tries Pere Waffle a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it. I love a waffle, but I never tend to finish it, last one I had was a couple of years ago at Sprinkles and it was too sweet, too big, too of everything. I decided to go for a savoury, 'papounet' (stuffed) one, since I've never tried a savoury one before. I had the salmon, tzatziki and cream cheese one, the Atlantico, and it was delicious, much better than I expected. The waffle was light and soft, and the ingredients tasted fresh, the best sign of great food. Brownie points for the salad dressing. Most restaurants in the UK serve the salad plain, tasting of nothing, but a bit of vinaigrette makes a world of difference. And extra brownie points for the portion size. Not too small, not ridiculously large. Just perfect. My friend fancied something sweet so she went for Parisian, cheesecake in a waffle, it looked amazing. Reasonable prices and great service too! Definitely recommend

Waffles were amazing and service was good! Good Black Friday offer on when I visited. It was also very clean. :)

Went in for coffee but ended up eating and I must say Papounet curry waffle was delicious and then I had bananasplit sweet waffle was even tastier. The atmosphere was really good and place was very clean and services provided by staff was 10/10. Would definitely go back again. Maybe book a table for Xmas 😁 can’t wait 😊

Maybe an off day, we had what can only be called a toasted waffle sandwich, my curry one wasn’t too bad, not enough filling. My children had a 4 cheese one, not a lot of cheese and the other one got the wrong order, she had some rock hard scrambled egg on it which wasn’t what she ordered, still I told her to eat what she could but she didn’t like it. Ordered 2 lemonades and got 2 horrible soda type things, the kids didn’t drink them. Should’ve complained but was in a bit of a rush,not sure I’d return,maybe the sweet ones would be better.

I Licked the plate!!! Amazing food, service and atmosphere. They are offering all sorts of waffles, Would Recommend each one 10/10.

Service was really nice as the waiter was friendly and receptive. Nice place to experience a good French meal.Would definitely come back again
