The best restaurants serving French food in East of England

I was in town with my daughter and husband, we wanted an ice cream and found this place was open. We should have actually walked straight pass, the hygiene is no existent. No one wears PPE, one employee walked in in his motorbike gear, didn't wash his hands and started handling food and equipment. He then late his friend into the food prep area so he could use the bathroom. The lady manning the tile, whist no prepping food, kept on touching her face. There are markings on the floor but it seems that it's just for show. They've obviously rushed to reopen but didn't bother reading the basic government's guidelines with regards to COVID-19. Avoid this place!!!

The positive was that the food was excellent. Sadly other aspects of the experience left a bit to be desired: 1) no hand towels in the toilets (basic stuff in a restaurant trying to be high end), 2) ridiculously noisy environment which impacted on the next point, 3) with every dish the server had to give a blow by blow description but the noise was so loud I never heard anything, 4) the arrival of dish and performance of the servers description interrupted conversations and I thought rather rude 5) the staff seemed rather tense and grumpy probably because we were largely tee total and didn’t want to buy alcohol, 6) a rather poor selection of non-alcoholic beers. So I couldn’t fault the food but I cannot give more than 3 stars for what was £84 per head in terms of the ‘overall experience’. There are much better restaurants locally for ‘experience’ and ‘value’.

Review of the restaurant only. Pleasant ambience in the back room, decent food, but some of the wait-staff need a bit of education how to talk to grown-up customers.

La Maison du Steak is a wonderful place to have a evening meeting with your fellow officers or just a family lunch. It was a very wonderful experience.

This is the go to place for us, whether it’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food is always cooked perfectly and presented to a high standard using only fresh and high quality ingredients. Great selection of coffees, wines and cocktails too. The staff are super welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable, always creating a lovely atmosphere in which to enjoy a meal or special occasion. A taste of fine dining in Welwyn garden city.

Lovely food but if they know it's a busy weekend they need to order more stock, but when ordering drinks I asked do you do a fruity cider got told no so she spoke to my disabled son of 31 years old like a child so he asked for coke when looking through drinks menu found a fruity cider so I cancelled the coke but she still charged us for the coke our bill was over £200 Keep a eye on bills

Svet was absolutely lovely, so welcoming and attentive. The food was lovely and the staff were excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit. I had a fantastic. Breakfast.

The best Indian taste we felt so far in UK in last 3 years. Paneer Kadhai and veg fried rice is recommended, so yummy. You can ask for stuffed paratha which is not on menu and it was so delicious.

Fuimos con amigos y tuvimos el menú de arreglo de premios. Sopa de cebolla, filete tártaro para entrantes y vientre de cerdo y lubina para principal. La sopa era buena y el cerdo con patatas delfines excelente. Cada uno tomó una copa de vino gratis con un vale de un evento cercano. Buen servicio y un ambiente agradable en una zona turística muy concurrida. No puedo culparlo.

My husband and I had a delicious vegetarian lunch in a delightful, cosy setting here on Friday, with friendly, efficent service. Great location just outside the centre of St. Ives with plenty parking, and fabulous, old country house style beautifully refurbished. We had tomato risotto and two wonderful puddings - an excellent chef! We were also grateful that our main waitress was wearing a plastic visor. (I do feel strongly about this when people are standing directly over us and our food - it is simple hygiene and good manners and I wish other restaurants would do the same.) Our only two points for improvement are: 1) please provide more vegetarian and vegan options, and label these clearly - we like a choice too, and 2) more people should be there - it is great!

Situated in the Hilton hotel. Breakfast was good enough - cooked goods and cold cuts. Also had a few pastries ands waffle maker. Selection of juices and cereals too. Nothing amazing but good enough. Quite an extensive food menu for the evening. Quite over priced for what you got but again it was nice enough and convenient just to come down stairs from the hotel. At lunch time there were loads of people having business meetings and chatting away about this deal and that thing which was a bit annoying but I guess it does sell itself as a business hotel.
