My husband and I had a delicious vegetarian lunch in a delightful, cosy setting here on Friday, with friendly, efficent service. Great location just outside the centre of St. Ives with plenty parking, and fabulous, old country house style beautifully refurbished. We had tomato risotto and two wonderful puddings - an excellent chef! We were also grateful that our main waitress was wearing a plastic visor. (I do feel strongly about this when people are standing directly over us and our food - it is simple hygiene and good manners and I wish other restaurants would do the same.) Our only two points for improvement are: 1) please provide more vegetarian and vegan options, and label these clearly - we like a choice too, and 2) more people should be there - it is great!

This is under new management (owners also run The Windmill Restaurant, Somersham). They are doing a fantastic job (unlike the previous owner) and must have employed a top-notch chef, because the food is outstanding - so much so that we have been 4 times in 5 weeks. They have a set menu (excellent value) and an à-la-carte menu. I recommend the chicken Caesar salad (I wouldn’t normally go for salad, but this was what I refer to as a ‘meaty’ salad (that doesn’t necessarily mean meat, but a hearty, full salad with a lot of ingredients - I recently heard the requirements for a good salad being discussed on Radio 4 and this salad had everything: Texture, oiliness (a tasty dressing), a lot of lovely vegetation, such as radiccio (cannot spell it), baby leaf spinach, pea shoots, carrots ... I cannot remember everything though, there was so much (but not overdone). I tried it a second time and it was different, but just as good, and had the addition of bacon. The Dirty burger and chips ... well, my partner and I agree that this is the tastiest burger we ever had (and I used to live in the States!!) We also had a sharer starter platter (breads, breadsticks, olives and meat) which was lovely and good value. They have a nice bar, you can eat on the terrace (sheltered if you want) or inside and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable (we tested them on their knowledge of the history of Slepe Hall - it used to be a girls’ school). Really impressed, very happy customers. Go there!

We had a wonderful afternoon tea at Slepe Hall. I called to enquire before booking as I have a nut allergy and, after a chat with the Head Chef, I was reassured and made a booking. The food was fabulous, and the tea was lovely too. The measures put in place for Covid-19 prevention made us feel safe throughout, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Recently moved to the area and opted to try this place for a mid week meal. Lovely front terrace to enjoy the evening sunshine, service a little slow due to being very busy due to the current government eat out help out scheme. We did need to seek waiters a couple of times and did feel we had been forgotten about as the dining rooms indoors were very busy we opted to wait patiently with drinks outside. Once served and seated indoors the food served was delicious and well worth the wait. I've given this a 5 star rating as all 3 meals were presented beautifully, were fresh and piping hot and most of all were delicious. Great value for money and a great choice of menu. Usually I wouldnt have been so tolerant with the long wait but due to the current situation and with us not pre booking it couldn't be helped. The team were very polite and welcoming. We will certainly be returning.

Nice location. The Crayfish & Pawn Starter portion was very small at £5.50. No more than two mouthfuls. The roast lamb was good but the roast beef was over-cooked, dry and hard. This was declined but the server said this was how people preferred it but then said "last week it was good being succulent and slightly rare!" This is how I would have liked it. Vegetable selection OK but the Yorkshire Puddings (only one per person) very small, flat & soggy. Gravy disappointing, obviously came from a packet and not made with the roast meat juices. The Pecan Pie had to be sent back as it tasted musty. The Bread Pudding was grey, stodgy and cold. Clearly bought-in and not made in the kitchen. Served with one small scoop of Ice cream; not custard! Other diners tables were cleared before ours even though they came in later than us. Meal very expensive for that which was received. Cannot recommend.

Lunch with friends in the bar - no atmosphere but chose this as so little choice on the lunch menu in adjoining room. Pasta dishes fine but others were overpriced and not good. £3.50 for a bowl of chips?! Has potential to do ok but need better staff responses to queries and better value for money to survive in this competitive town!

This was the third time we had eaten at Ramsey's Brasserie, as we had thoroughly enjoyed our visits last summer. So it seemed the obvious choice for my mother-in-laws 75th birthday celebration. However, since we last ate there, the new menu appears to have gone 'up-market' and aims to be fine dining, unfortunately it appeared to be beyond the capabilities of the kitchen. We were a party of eight, so got to try a wide range of dishes. Starters included hay smoked duck breast (served cold, fatty and chewy - not nice), chicken and ham-hock terrine (served with no toast!) and prawn and crayfish cocktail (where was the crayfish?). The mains sounded like a Master Chef menu, but many of the fancier elements simply detracted from the other ingredients, for example the incredibly acidic coriander & lime gel served with the over cooked halibut - simply over-powering. The sage jus that came with the pork belly was unpleasant looking grey sludge, whilst the sweet potato & mint gratin with the lamb was bizarre and overly sweet. Desserts were shunned by all but two of our party - the sticky toffee puddings ordered had not been well mixed and contained lumps of dry uncooked flour rather than the unctuous caramel infused sponge hoped for. The wine and pre-dinner drinks though were excellent - not enough though to make up for a disappointing dining experience. I hope this was just a one-off, as we really enjoyed the food on offer previously.

Never had such a terrible Christmas meal, such a disappointment. We where left to get our own drinks, including water. An hour between courses and then they got every course wrong! The vegatarian option was so bad. I am a regular here, and never had such a bad experience as l had today. The staff tried their best, but how you can get away with having your receptionist as a waitress is beyond me. If you can’t get it right, don’t do it!!

Slepe Hall is a very attractive venu, and has good facilities for dining.. We went as a group for lunch this week, and were underwhelmed by the service and the wait both for and between courses. One of the main problems seemed to be a shortage of staff. It was the week before Christmas, so was bound to be busy, but we had all pre-ordered. That meant that the restaurant was aware of the content of our orders and the number of our party. Despite this, we had meals that arrived at different times; some members had finished courses, whilst others were still waiting to be served with their meal. The food was quite tasty, but the portions on the small side, The venison steaks arrived after the majority of our party were more than half way through the main course . Embarrasing when you're waiting for your partner's meal to arrive, and your own one is going cold! I think they were just run off their feet, and had more diners than they could cope with. I hope our next visit will prove to be more successful, as the venu is quite special.

We had booked a table for 12 as we had a family wedding at the hotel later that day. Sadly there were lots of motorway traffic problems so 6 of us were late. My parents arrived for 12 and explained and the staff were really understanding and accommodating,My sister arrived around 12.20 and I told them to go ahead and order. They placed their order at 12.50 to include a meal for my daughter who was really hungry as we were only 10 minutes away. We arrived at 1 and my husband and I placed our orders.p, we were told that our food would come later than everyone else's which we understood and said was fine. We ordered drinks and we chatted. At this point the restaurant was us and one other table. After I arrived a few more tables started to fill up.My parents food arrived at 1.45, almost an hour after they ordered it which was pretty bad. My food arrive at 1.55, again almost an hour after we had ordered it.We had two children one who is 4 and my daughter is 6 with severe autism. Both their plates came out boiling hot even though they were children's meals which seemed a bit dangerous. All of our food was really nice and good value. It just took too long. The table who ordered after us waited even longer than we did and they were offered free drinks to compensate for their delay. We heard them say that it was the same the last time they came, so I don't think it's a one off.We were in a rush as we needed to get ready for the wedding, so we just signed the bill off and did not really challenge the delayed food.I would say the food is really nice, staff are friendly but be prepared for a wait for your meal.

Having read good reviews on here we gave Ramsey's a try one Saturday evening after we couldn't get a table at the Riverport Grill. We chose the seafood sharing platter to start and were served up mussels that were off. We obviously told the waitress who did her best to rectify the situation by not charging us but serving up rancid shellfish was not a good start to our evening. For main we had the risotto with olives, tomatoes, chorizo and chicken which was disappointing. It was overloaded with whole olives and cherry tomatoes which just overpowered the whole dish which just had no finesse about it. The other main was the duck breast with chorizo gnocchi which was quite enjoyable.Overall even discounting the mussels we were disappointed with the dishes we had and won't be rushing back again.

We went here for Sunday lunch today and it was excellent.Due to the facade looking a bit dated, I has my doubts although the Wife assured me the food was great - and it was! I had crayfish cocktail followed by the roast beef. Nice big portion of crayfish nicely seasoned with cayenne & well presented. The beef was rare and tender and again a very generous portion. Didn't have a pudding as I was stuffed but the coffee was nice & strong. The interior of the restaurant is tasteful and modern but not over the top & pretentious and the atmosphere complimented well by a pianist. A thumbs up for the staff as well as they're all attentive without being overbearing. Minor quibble is the food was a tad on the cold side. All in all highly recommended for a family Sunday lunch.

The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the bar area itself was nicely laid out with a large selection of drinks and pre dinner nibbles. We tried two types of flavoured nuts whilst waiting for our table. The menu has a great variety of food and is very reasonably priced. We shared a starter of Ham Hock tempura, which was just right between us. Our main courses were amazing! Flat iron steak and the free range chicken breast were cooked to perfection! Definitely one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The cheese board we shared for dessert was different, and the biscuits that were served with it were unusual but very tasty!Fabulous wine selection, and Stuarts Specials are definitely worth a look!Overall, one of the best dining experiences you could have in St Ives. We live within spitting distance of this hotel / Restaurant, as such we have never stayed there so can not comment on that, however we have eaten there many times, thats what this review is for.The restaurant has undergone a major overhaul, for the better this year, looking contemporary and classy at the same time, a variety of menus exist, depending on the time of day and day of the week, ie Sunday Roast or daytime light bites. All food is of the highest quality and cooked to perfection, choose from the fixed price or Sunday menu's and you will be stunned at how cheap food of this quality can be for example, £16.50 for 3 courses! Bargain, we like to go there whenever we can as we know we won't be let down, having said that, the service can be very poor at times, forgetting to bring out the beautiful home cooked bread, missing elements from your dish, even on one occasion no cutlery, it definitely pays to remember what sides your dish is supposed to come with.As mentioned many times here though, I will go back again and again as the food is beautiful, highly recommend, just don't go if your not in the mood for occasionally poor service.
