Found The Bombay Brasserie on Google Maps as looking for a meal on a through journey, and we weren't disappointed. The menu was varied, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Awful. Came here a few years ago and had an awful experience, thought we’d give it one more try, nothing has changed since then. Table was booked for 5 people at 7:30pm, 3 people arrived at 7:30pm and we arrived 10 minutes later due to parking. We weren’t sat down until 8:05pm. Got drinks and about 15 minutes later we asked someone to take our food order as no one was bothering, so someone took just our starters for some reason. Another 15 minutes go by and we ask the manager to take our order yet again because no one was bothering. We explained to him that we have already been here an hour and not even our order has been taken, he then replies with, the reason is because you were late for your booking, that he could not seat the 3 people that arrived first until the rest of the party arrived. WHY?????? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. So with the manager standing there arguing with us why our food order hasn’t even been taken we decided to ignore the rest of what he was blabbering on about and leave the restaurant, went to gurka dubaar instead and it was sooooo much better. Service was excellent and food bang on, go there instead.

Really poor experience, we arrived in plenty of time (early) with a near empty restaurant, order taken but then had to wait 1.45hr for the food, when we asked why the wait, we were told abruptly, you have to wait as you are in the queue!.. yet, every minute there were take-aways flying out of the shop, they should look after customers that have booked a table, it seems simply a money grab, they only want you to keep buying drinks, yet the service and attitude when challenged was awful, food average, and by this time we just wanted to leave. far better options around than this place, disappointing.

Without exception, the worst takeaway meal I have ever bought. Bone-dry leathery half-cooked naans, peas like bullets, sauces well inferior to ASDAs, tough greasy mutton. The food was an embarrassment to serve. It was an insult. This restaurant needs to get its act together or close.

We went there for our work do. For the amount we paid, it was quite decent. They do special on Sundays. For £14.50 per person, you can eat as much as you like. Our starters consisted of chicken pieces, onion baji, and Poppodom with four different dip options. The main course consisted of five to six different dishes presented in small stainless steel bowls. Naan bread and rice were served.

The owner was super rude. We booked a table for 1pm today. Two of us could not come because of the rain. The owner created a scene for some reason when we were only 6 people instead of 8. He didn't give us a table and made us wait. When one of us complained about it, he rudely said "We will not serve you". We still gave him another chance, spoke with him to try and understand what the actual issue was. He gave us some explanation, but at the end again rudely said that he won't serve us.

Very disappointing meal, had the Sunday buffet and waiting for a long time and when it did arrive then no where near enough for 6 people in our group, 6 people and 4 pieces of naan bread arrive ! Lamb dish far too salty but others were ok, overall disappointed in the restaurant

Have lived in Peterborough now for 15 years and been coming here pretty much ever since. The food is delicious, authentic Indian cuisine and the service is friendly and welcoming every time we visit - be sure to check out the set menu of an evening which has a really good range and offers exceptional value for money! 100% recommended & no doubt we'll be back again very soon 😊👍

We visited the Indian restaurant in Peterborough on a Sunday afternoon. They had a buffet only on Sunday at lunch time. And it was fabulous. They offer a big round table for us (8 people) and serve all the foods on the table. The main course was unlimited, but it was so huge we didn't ask to serve another round of food. It was very good in taste and the environment was also very good.

Arrived in Peterborough after a 3hr drive. The team happily invited me in at 10.30pm which was very welcome! Everything was delicious and the staff were spot on. Can’t recommend enough.

What was once Peterborough's "go to" Asian restaurant has over the years become so very hit and miss. Sometimes it has been amazing and sometimes it has been awful. This was one of those awful occasions where when family invite you, expecting a special evening with outstanding food and service, "disappointed beyond belief" lands on your table and you vow to move on. Bland, grey, outrageously salty food was there in spadefuls. I've read the last 12 months of reviews and they are pretty mixed. Consistency is so important to a restaurant's reputation that you expect the same quality and service every time you visit which commensurately gives you the confidence to recommend the venue. Way back in 2004 to the sound of drums, it lead the way and long before that when it was on the other side of the road. Sorry Rony, the old times were amazing but it's time for our family to move on.

The finest Indian food in Peterborough by far! Superb service, exquisite food and wonderful atmosphere. The owner Ronnie is usually on hand overseeing everything and greeting and chatting with guests. We visit far too often!

Went for the main dishes - Chicken Karahi, Lamb Dopiaza, Aloo la Salan, garlic naan and Paneer tikka shashlik for starter. It was really delicious and flavourful I highly recommend the lamb which was soft and the naan was really fluffy. Everything felt really authentic and I would definitely be going back again to try the buffet style on Sunday!

Best place to eat in Peterborough.

This is my second visit with my family,2 weeks ago we went for buffet Sunday lunch, we were treated well accept there was delay in serving our food which was reasonable okay we ate very well enjoyed the food. Yesterday 11th June Sunday we suddenly decided to have lunch outside I called the restaurant if we can come they said no problem for 3 members we can serve, table was allocated for my family starters were served when asked for 1 more non veg starter which is the best part of the meal they told us we don’t serve extra starters I was surprised I said I came 2 weeks ago there was no problem the waiter said then you were very lucky usually we don’t give customers extra starters ( 2 weeks ago when I called to book a buffet lunch and when asked how does the buffet lunch work while serving the person on the table, the person who spoke to me said it’s all unlimited what even you want you can ask for more it’s just because after covid we have stated this concept I said that sounds great) Anyways i didn’t wish you argue about the starters, the main course was served and while eating my husband asked for something extra bread immediately the owner (Rony I assume he’s the owner LOL not fix to be one) came and said waited what are they asking for? he run towards our table and said if you want something you need to ask me. He then informed the server to get us that extra bread that we asked for, again he walked to our table and said very rudely YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING YOUR OWN DRINKING WATER INTO THIS RESTAURANT again I was surprised I looked at him and said it’s just home water there’s nothing wrong he walked away, after paying our money to eat they treated us like prisoners. I wish I can complain about this restaurant to the social media. His behaved was very bad which I would never expect from a restaurant owner to do such things, very shameful behaviour I think zero customer service at this place.

Great lunchtime option, with a £10 meal offer consisting of starter, main, side, and rice or bread. Very tasty, and great value

It was alrite, nothing special.

Visited here on a short business trip. I can honestly say the food that I had was amazing. The food here exposed the rubbish I get in Worcester. The Lamb Shashlik was full of flavour. You could actually taste the individual spices, so to with the Chana Masalla. Staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend and would revisit the next time I’m working in Peterborough.

As we were going to the theatre diagonally opposite the restaurant for an evening performance at 7.30, a friend contacted the restaurant to make a reservation. She enquired what time they suggested booking the table for and following their recommendation a table was booked for 5.30 Upon arriving at the restaurant we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Once sat down we asked about the set menu as we had had it in a previous visit there. The waiter then duly went away and returned with the 'pre-theatre, early evening' set menus which included one poppadom, pickles, starter, main, side, rice, naan, tea/coffee and mints all for a very reasonable £19.95 Another waiter then came over to take our orders and said 'hurry up and order as you are going to the theatre'. As we had only just been given the menus we asked for a few minutes to make our decisions. The orders were taken. Our starters did not arrive until 6.20 and the mains were not then brought out until 7.00 Unfortunately we were missing one of our side orders, which we informed the waiter of and also requested a jug of water. At no point throughout the meal did anyone come over and ask if the meal was OK, bring our missing item or take another drinks order. From 7.00 a large crowd of customers entered the restaurant and were stood by the bar and entrance area. All were served drinks. At 7.20 one of our party got up and asked a waiter for the bill. We were asked to make our way to the till to pay as they were very busy. We asked at the till for our bill as we were in a hurry as the show started at 7.30, only to be told by the waiter - 'you've got 10 minutes yet!' We explained the service had been dreadful and non-existent, that we hadn't had part of our order, no drinks order and no tea and coffee, to which the manager responded that we don't get tea and coffee with that set menu. Why is it printed on the menu then as being included? It was so loud with the customers awaiting to be seated that we were all virtually shouting. We refused to pay the full price of the bill due to the extremely poor service and the manager promptly said, 'if you don't like the service, don't come back then'. The food when it came was very nice, but the noise, atmosphere and shoddy customer service means we will not be returning which is a shame as we've eaten there on various occasions previously. So I would suggest if you're ever thinking of going here before a theatre show in the future, you think again and go somewhere else. They clearly over book and can't cope with large numbers.

If you are looking for an Indian meal in Peterborough then I’d highly recommend this restaurant. Just a short walk from the city centre you’ll find it is spacious, friendly and a very comfortable restaurant that serves an amazing choice of Indian cuisine. The staff are extremely attentive and are happy to pass on requests to the kitchen if you need anything special.

Not interested in any body going on their own. We're about to close? What with half the restaurant full, couldn't be bothered. I cannot tell you how bad or good the service was as I didn't get the chance to find out. Shocking behaviour

Went for Sunday Buffet, very good service, didn’t have to wait too long for either food or drink. Food was good, small portions but you can have more if you wish. We will be returning in a few weeks with family.

I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and never been disappointed. However, today we thought we would try out the buffet. First of all, the website advertises this as an ‘all you can eat hot buffet’ - there was nothing of the kind. You do not get the choice of what food you are given and it was bought out to the table which is fine but the portions were minuscule. I advised the waiter I was vegetarian and he bought out the main - 6 tiny dishes to share, 2 of which were vegetarian and the rest were meat so We could not try much of the dishes at all as they were all to share for the whole table there was not much to go round. Having been here before a few years ago when there was an actual all you can eat buffet, this was ridiculous. The service was terrible and slow, we were waiting around for over 2 hours so we had to cut the ‘buffet’ menu short and leave as the parking was up by then.

Visited for the Sunday buffet for mothers day. Upon being seated drinks orders were taken and it was confirmed that we’d be having the Sunday buffet. For first time visitors it seemed a bit peculiar that it was not explained what the buffet would entail. It was not even mentioned what was on the menu nor is it advertised online. We confirmed dietary preferences and were given our drinks and poppadoms with various accompanying condiments. The waters were still merky on what the buffet would entail and we waited around 20-30 minutes for our starters. At last they arrived, no issues with the starters - great taste, fair portion size. Plates were then cleared 20 minutes after this, drinks were empty so you’d assume it was a good opportunity for the upsell. It didn’t come, after attempting to get a staff members attention for another refreshment we admitted defeat. Mains arrived 40 mins after 7 small dishes, 5 meat based curry’s and 2 vegetarian. It seemed strange that there wasn’t a 50/50 spilt of meat based to veg based curries. This left one of us very hungry when it came to having two portions followed by half a naan and a less than generous portion of rice. The meat based curries were accompanied by an abundance of grease floating on the top, not appeasing to the eye at all. Taste certainly did not compensate for small portion sizes. Once again no drinks were offered upon the table being cleared. Plates sat there for around 20-30 minutes. After they were cleared we waited a further 15 minutes and no staff were coming over. After spending over 2 hours there and experiencing abysmal service we were asked for feedback. We shared our qualms which were immediately dismissed. To finish the owner didn’t seem to really ask for feedback when we were paying the bill. Seemed very abrupt and seemed like they just wanted people in and out - which would make sense if he aimed to turn tables within the hour, not over two. Overall below par and wouldn’t rush back in a hurry.

We visited on a Tuesday night quite early and it was very quiet..... We have been on a Friday and Weekends and it's been packed.... Food always good and very tasty.... Meal for 4 with a couple of beers each - £135

Haven't been for a while, but our visit on Thu 16th was as good as we remember our last visits. Great Staff, very polite and attentive, nice atmosphere, and amazing food. Tables are well spaced so your not sitting on top of the next table. Wont be leaving it so long again to visit.

Complete waste of time, had to wait 30 mins to get a table, even after booking, to order another 30 mins, and to get the food,ohh I had to take a nap there. Food is average, definitely will stay away from this place.

We often visit Bombay Brasserie at least 4/5 times a year. We have had many family get togethers and my partner had his 70th birthday party there in November and never have we had a problem. We go to a lot of theatre shows and always go In before hand for the pre theatre special. I do not eat a lot and I will always ask the waiters to let me take my leftovers away. The staff have always been brilliant and there has not been an issue. Even Ronnie the owner has on several occasions wrapped it up for me. We did notice that the meals had gone up in price but we didn’t mind as restaurants have to survive. When they came at the end of our meal I politely asked as normal for me to take it home he said that I couldn’t and would have to leave it behind. (To go into the bin) I could understand if it was a buffet but I had paid for the food so surely I can do what I want with it. I felt so let down and it definitely spoilt the rest of the evening. It’s a shame as you have now lost 2 loyal customers

Service was slow. Got in at 17.30 as per booking. Food didn't come in till 18.25. Don't rate the Pechwary naan. Lamb wasn't melting in your mouth, a bit chewy....

Very good Sunday lunch, more like a thali many small dishes, excellent service, you won't leave hungry.

Though you r hungry, you get the table. But still you have to wait for food.

We went on new years eve. It was really busy with a great atmosphere. Service was good they where happy to help. Food was fantastic. Parking can be a challenge but it worth the effort to go in.

Had a takeaway for NYE but my lamb passander was bland and the sauce was runny like coloured water! Different naans but both tasteless, couldn’t taste the garlic at all. Giving this place a definite miss in future!

It's probably safe to call this Peterborough's original curry house. It certainly seems to have been around forever and it's also safe to say that if you visit here, you're assured of a great curry.

We dined here this evening. Despite not booking and the place being fairly packed, we were asked to wait and within no more than 5 minutes we were shown to our table. From start to finish, everything was excellent. Attentive staff, fresh & delicious food in warm welcoming surroundings. I would highly recommend a visit here to try it for yourself!

I visited the restaurant and i ordered the food for take away and paid the bill. When i asked for the receipt of the bill the owner just pushed me away saying what do you think of us , are we going anywhere or going to take your money ? He literally pushed me away with his hands outside the door. If you are planning to visit this place please think twice or rather thrice before going to this place because they treat you really bad .
