We went into Costa inside the shopping centre at 4pm on Saturday 17th August. My husband, who has advanced Parkinsons disease and walks with difficulty with a stick, badly needed a rest. The girl at the counter told us immediately that we could only have takeaway coffee as they were closing soon, ie at 4.30pm. There were quite a number of customers still sitting inside at this point. We asked if we could at least sit outside and she agreed. We paid for the coffee and moved to the seats outside. Five minutes later, another member of staff came out and asked if we could move away as these seats were not available for use. I explained that we had been told by the cashier inside that we could sit there and we carried on drinking our coffee. Another five minutes passed and the staff member returned, telling us very curtly that she must ask us to move for health and safety reasons as the floor had been recently washed. (The floor, however, was not wet!) Anyway, I carried the coffees across the mall to tables belonging to another business and helped my husband stand up and walk over. By the time we had seated ourselves at the second cafe, the tables and chairs outside Costa had been whipped away - clearly the real reason why the staff wanted us gone!! I have never before felt so unwelcome in my life. We also found the experience highly embarrassing and could see that the other customers, still eating and drinking inside, were bemused that an elderly couple were being ask to move on.

Popped into the Pinemarten after an hours walk round the forest. Ordered the macaroni, Fanta and a Redbull. Macaroni was gorgeous and so filling. Not sure why reviews are saying food wa stale, mine was lovely. Staff kept walking around and looking at me (I was round the corner) so felt a bit rushed. Other than that, servers were lovely and the gentleman gave me a discount as I didn’t want chips. Still quite costly but happy to pay it as I was starving and it was a lovely atmosphere in the cafe. It’s always expensive in the highlands at tourist spots!! Nice people, filling food, great spot.

Tasted absolutely rotten! Chips are frozen which is disappointing from a chippy van and the burger came out of a plastic bag that had water in it. Burger tastes as though it had been boiled and wasn’t cooked in the middle.

I’ve reviewed this particular McDonald’s location a few times, and the quality has fluctuated over-time. The last time I reviewed this location, it was rather pleasant and so was the food. However, I am afraid to say that it has gone severely down-hill again. I had visited just last week, and as soon as I walked in I noticed a larger-bodies woman, who appeared to be the manager, or one of them, was standing there looking rather uninterested and she didn’t really give the place a welcoming vibe. When went to the self-order screen again, I pressed “Eat-In” and there was no option given for table service, despite there being table tents next to the machines, and I seen some guy walk up to the counter with one of the tents, chatted with staff, and went and sat upstairs - I assume because the machine didn’t give him the option, he asked them to bring the order to his table and told them the number on the tent. This is such an inconvenience. When the food was received after a rather long wait, I found the fries to be shockingly cold and soggy - they were so flexible you could shake them and they’d do a little dance! They were like mini pieces of spaghetti. Not to mention the burger, which had an unpleasant aftertaste that was not typical to McDonald’s, and the burger was also very cold and the bun seemed to be slightly more soggier than usual, and the meat was more chewier. Not to mention they forgot the two Apple Pies I ordered, so that meant another trip down the stairs to the front counter. They seem to have a habit for forgetting things, or getting things wrong. I didn’t return the food, as I couldn’t be bothered with another trip down the stairs and back, and I just put up with it as I felt it useless to complain at the time. But, it was very subpar and I could have made a Rustler’s microwave burger and fries to go at home and had a more pleasant experience There is also this member of cleaning staff who primarily operates upstairs and cleans there, and he is of foreign origin and it can be a bit hard to understand him at times, but I once heard him shouting pretty loudly at a customer for something, which seemed to take the customer by surprise. He also can get rather close to you while you are eating, often getting right up in your face almost to clean under your table, which many other cleaning staff simply wait until the table is vacant as to not get too close and make customers uncomfortable. I believe the place was ran pretty well a couple of years ago, when the manager was a foreign gentleman but he was very nice and seemed to perhaps care and display more passion towards his role and customers, even personally bringing out orders and keeping something in the store that someone I knew had forget to pick up when they left. It seems that the new management is perhaps more disinterested in the quality of the food and the customer satisfaction, which is a disappointment. I also find that the staff don’t seem bothered at all to kick out the many young and older teenagers that seem to be using the place as a social hangout without purchasing any food, and I’ve found this to make me feel uncomfortable as many of them can be robust and rowdy, often shouting and I’ve heard profanity, too. I’ve also seen empty vape packages on the toilet floors. I feel this should be addressed as McDonald’s is supposed to be a peaceful, family-friendly establishment, but the presence of these people loitering can disturb that and cause some people, including myself, to feel uncomfortable, and potentially unsafe. There is no type of security staff present at the premises to deal with any incident like this, whether due to loitering or perhaps more serious incidents. The place is a no-go at night, anyways, as I was in there once later at night and there was this drunk individual harassing and annoying a group of women eating, and the toilets had urine all over the floor. So, as of now, the place has been very disappointing again, as sometimes it can be excellent, and other times it can be terrible. I think I’ll give this McDonald’s a miss for a while, and the chain as a whole, as there have been numerous locations I’ve visited all across Britain where the quality has severely diminished. Disappointed again, McDonald’s Inverness High Street. Hopefully one day, it can redeem itself. Avoid at all costs.

Decent enough chippy, always busy and reasonably priced. Would give a 5 star, but the portion sizes of the chips could be bigger. Otherwise a decent bite to eat.
