Jaki in Highland

Absolutely delicious and staff very friendly everything cooked fresh to order. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again perhaps try one of the burgers that sound delicious on the menu board

Regardless of previous reviews, this is our local, so we use it. Jaki and staff are always friendly and accommodating, the Fish and Chips are amazing. Always cooked perfectly, always hot, crispy batter and lovely chips! If you phone your order in, it’s ready to pick up when you arrive. Can’t fault this place and we are English! 😝

First time here in a few years and sad to see it’s decline. The batter is oddly bland which I’ve never experienced before from a chippy. Mushy fish is also a concern and from my experience in the food industry, usually indicative of something more sinister. Hotter oil will also give you a much more satisfying and crunchy chip than the ones that we tasted. Staff were nice though despite what I’d heard to the contrary. Young female very polite. This use to be a great wee chippy and hopefully it’ll have its day again once the owners have addressed its issues.

Absolutely awful. The owner and the new whoever behind the counter are absolute racist bigots who hate the English.The lady behind the counter absolutely reeked of urine like Joel Glazer,and as scruffy as him. To be avoided at all costs.

Refused to take card payment. I had no cash so left hungry. Surprised as clearly hates the head of the royal family being on the money.

Didn't expect to see 5g, NWO anti vax conspiracy theories when getting my fish supper. This is a really weird way to market a chip shop and is highlyunsettling. The wait for food is also extremely long. It is highly inappropriate to have such language displayed in a public place.

Order a large breadcrumb coated fish supper last night. When opened the coating was not breadcrumbs, the fish was dry and over cooked completely inedible. The product went straight into the bin. A complete waste of money

On arrival at the chip shop i was greeted with anti-vax conspiracy theories and lies printed on posters in the windows,if you have views on these things you shouldn’t be ramming it down customers throats,people come to your shop for food not anti-vax propaganda,kids will read this and take it as true-if covid did not exist why did you have to shut your shop not so long ago because staff had covid???🤔🤔 I for one will not be back to your shop,and im not the only one as quite a lot of other people that i have discussed this with will not be back either On the food,more recently the standard has gone downhill

Was staying in Muir of Ord with two other couples we tried Jaki’s on our first night there , I only had a portion of chips and the curry sauce but it was the best curry sauce I have ever had from a chippy, all the others were very pleased with what they had and they loved the curry sauce as well. We stayed for a week and used Jaki’s two more times. The food was ready the first two times but on the Friday the boys did have to wait but they were busy so sometimes you do have to be patient. Would definitely visit again next time we visit Scotland.

First time visit and i was pleasantly surprised. Excellent service and excellent meal. Highly recommended. Best fish supper in the Highlands. Will be back, 5 stars.

We ordered a family take away but despite ordering in advance and turning up when told to had to wait 20 minutes. The scampi was overcooked, portions were poor and i'll let you decide about the response to my complaint. 🤷‍♀️

Good selection of takeaway food but the burgers were fantastic, really tasty. lots of different varieties of flavours

Sorry can’t recommend these fish n chips at all. Very long wait, one of the most expensive places around. Nearly £8 for a dried up piece of haddock. Very disappointing and most certainly wont use again, threw the food in the bin. I did ring them to complain when I got home (3 mins away) and they said that due to long waits and lots of customers, some food does get overcooked. At least that was an honest answer, shame as we always try to support local eateries.

Just picked up our order…..so glad we decided to have this. Fish and chips and white pudding and chips both superb!

I had a more than great burger at Jaki. If I go again to Scotland I will eat at Jaki! Had a good time there!

To say I was disappointed was an understatement. My scampi was so over cooked and rock hard I would of needed teeth like a horse to eat it. My king rib was cremated, the batter shattered when I bite into it. When I phoned to complain I was told they gave me burnt one along with the order as a gesture!! But I never got a properly cooked one either. I always give the benefit of the doubt and like to support local businesses. I’d rather drive to Aberdeen and back for a decent chippy. Rank worst £20 spent

I treated myself to a fish supper, my daughter had pizza supper. My fish (not much of it) was dry and inedible, her pizza rock hard. Revolting. Very disappointed as I was so ready for it as I haven't had a chippy from Jaki's since before lockdown. Messaged them privately and they didn't bother to reply either!

Phenomenal. Great team - the fish is always fresh & melts in the mouth. And the batter is the tastiest I've had. Non fish options superb as well - check out the coleslaw. The team always have a smile ready as well as a great meal @ good value. Well worth travelling to!

Tried Jaki's chips recently after a recommendation and our usual favourite being closed. Decent enough, if second choice behind Beauly for our tastes.

Very very tasty! Great fish and chips - looked immaculately clean. Highly recommend. We stayed at Big Sky Lodges and this was a real treat.

Went to Jakis after hearing ads for it, and the food is more than notable!!We had fish which was a little over cooked for me but I am quite fussy! The coleslaw was delish and so was the curry sauce.The 1/2 battered pizza was interesting and not like anything I’d had before but it all was eaten so it must’ve been good!It cost us £30 or so in total for 2 fish meals and a burger meal with some extras. It was really filling and we couldn’t finish it all so deffo worth the money.If I was local I’d 100% go back, shame I live near the south coast

we loved our meal from here very good quality, unfortunately none of the staff or customers were wearing masks and there was no hand gel provided. If this was in place it would have been 5 star

The fish although freshly cooked was vastly overcooked and was tough and actually inedible.The fact that you pay in advance makes it hard to let Jaki know she can't cook fish, 6 minutes is all it takes.

THE best chippy I’ve ever had!! It was so fresh, beautiful soft fish with a crispy batter, lovely tasty chips, kids had sausages & they really loved them. We also had a white pudding which was to die for! And tasty homemade coleslaw, it was all SO good and the staff were so lovely, friendly & helpful. Highly recommended.

Jaki’s is without doubt the best Supper in the highlands with wonderful warm customer service and excellent value for money.

Never been let down by the service or the quality of the food. Worth travelling that extra mile for, always looks very clean and tidy.

Got the order wrong again tonight and left a meal out. After a 2 hour wait to get our dinner my 6 year old did not get hers. Wrong sauces with meal too. I totally understand with the current situation that they are extremely busy but this is not the first time this has happened as last time we ordered singles and got given and charged for meals. Food was also way overcooked. When phoning to complain about this tonight I spoke to one of the staff members who wasn’t very helpful and kept going back and forth asking Jaki questions and instead of her taking charge of her own business she done nothing. Totally unacceptable and we will no longer be using this chip shop. So disappointing.

This was our 3rd time using this chippie. The first time was during last year's gala week and it was great. We used it a second time a few months later and it was just ok....batter was a tad heavy and the chips were all pretty overcooked and crispy. We tried it again a few weeks ago but it was awful. Large fish supper was not that large and overcooked. The scamp was terrible. Obviously from frozen, tiny with hardly any scampi inside , we also had onion rings and they were shockingly bad. The chips in both meals were frazzled. It riled me that this overpriced plates of frazzled batter and chips were so bad that we phoned and complained. We spoke to who we believe is boss but she was not that bothered to be honest saying it was the kids on duty that night and next time we will get a meal on the house. A fair gesture but not good enough taking people's hard-earned money and expecting kids to do the cooking. Doubt we will be back. Shame as like to support local business but I expect to get a decent chippie for my money and not be robbed off like that.

Great food from Jaki chip shop, place was really busy when we went but not too long a wait. Most food seems to be cooked to order. Phone booking also available. Big variety of options on the menu.

What a great place with super cheery welcoming staff If you are anywhere near Muir Of Ord you should go. Clearly these people have passion about their business.

Always good meals here....fish is very good always cooked fresh....don't change a thing. Good deals on throughout the week and always friendly in shop.

Fresh cooked food served here, yes you need to wait for it, however it’s worth it . You have the option to telephone your order in.if you don’t like waiting.

On Friday evening, it was busy but the staff welcomed us with a smile and was very efficient. Warm welcome and great food. The haggis was soooo good!

We visited about 5 years ago and was knocked back by the size and quality of fish. While in the area this year, we knew just where to get a really good fish and chips. We will be visiting again and highly recommend the fish and chips from here.

Word of mouth suggested that this was 'the best fish supper ever'. I was excited to try it. Living half an hour away I was told I should phone the order through. I rang the number on the website for a full 20mins, it rang out, it was engaged, it rang out, I was cut off three times. I got no reply. So, despite on another review the owner details "a telephone service where customers can call ahead because the food is cooked fresh to order", I raised no reply. So we went elsewhere. Soured by the lack of response on the phone.

Have never tried this chippy until tonight and we were really blown away! We had a “Beauly” burger (chicken) and a “Brahan Seer” burger (beef). They were perfect and really good value. The chips were also extremely good. Looking forward to trying out the rest of the menu! Thanks guys :)

Fast food this place is not, I popped in on the way home from a day out to get a few bags of chips for the kids well 15 minutes is not what you expect at 6pm to wait for chips

On the way home from a round of golf myself and my son decided to call in to Jaki for a takeaway! Having watched a couple enter the shop in front of us you can imagine how annoyed we were when we were told that we couldn’t get in, despite it only being 8.45 and the advertised closing time was 9pm! When I expressed my disappointment and annoyance I was told I could have a voucher towards my next visit, who would want a voucher to a place that doesn’t want to encourage trade that is on their doorstep 15 mins before their advertised closing time???????

Lovely fresh made fish and chips made to order you may have to wait `5 or 10 mins but well worth waiting for

Havent been to this chippie for many many years. Its been completely overhauled, looking fresh and inviting. The staff were friendly, talking to some people by name which is always a good sign. The fish and chips was the best I've had in a long time. Can't recommend this place enough. Will be back.

Got a chippy the other day. Staff are sooo friendly and polite. The food, especially the fish i thought was amazing! Loved it. Will go back any time. :)

Fabulous fish and chips. This place is always busy ( good sign) but that can mean a long wait ( worth it). Would like to suggest some sort of order number system since when it is so busy it can be difficult to make sure right person coming forward for order ( speaking from experience).

We got fish suppers from Jaki on Saturday night and they were delicious. Nice crispy batter, great chips and the jumbo portion is worth the small extra cost. I can't imagine how big the extra jumbo would be, it must be mahoosive! Fast and friendly service even with the queue out the door, which speaks for itself. The price for 4 was a lot cheaper than what we usually pay in Aberdeen and the quality much better.

Went in with an order for five and had to wait a short while as it seemed to be freshly prepared. The staff were efficient and didn't seem to have an issue with my English accent (see earlier review).

Not only great fish and chips, but also an ever expanding menu of stuff with chips, but also healthier and more unusual options. Friendly staff, and probably the cleanest chip shop I have ever visited,

If you want superb fish and chips jaki's is the spot. Huge portions freshly cooked to perfection at a knockdown price. No one can come even close to matching quality. I guess its all down to effort.

We are from the US and was unsure about were to find dinner. Thanks to TripAdvisor we found this hidden gem! The food and staff are great here at Jaki's. This is a local dive with great food. We had the cheeseburger and fish both were excellent. If you're in the area definitely give this place a try.

Just moved to area and first night in new home sadly chip shop was shutting up for night, staff came to door and gave us the leftover suppers! Lovely welcome to area and amazing quality. Have been back as paying customers ordering in advance as they tend to cook to order rather than prepare loads to have sitting around. Fish and chips are brilliant and you even want to finish all the chips. Lucky to have this place on our doorstep!

Had a wonderful chip shop dinner here and it was really tasty and not the usual greasy chip shop meal. Crispy batter, fluffy chips and tasty food. The haggis is amazing!
