Siaway Fish & Chips in Highland

As a local, I phoned up to order in advance. I was told it was too busy to order at the moment, so I said I'd wait 15 minutes then come up. I arrived 15 minutes later, at 7:30pm to find they had locked the doors and closed an hour early. My children were not amused, as they'd been promised a chippy as a treat!! Came back the following evening, but made sure that we were there before 7! Prices had gone up and the chip portions were the smallest we'd ever had. Not impressed. Food was ok- the kids had chicken strips and chips.

Honestly the worst chippy I have ever had, tasteless and extremely greasy. Ruined a good pair of trousers with the grease too!

Rude service, terrible food, undercooked soggy batter on the fish ! £26 for two fish suppers absolutely disgusting! I won’t go there again & I am advising my friends not to go either.

Lunch at 2pm: Served reheated chips and burger. Both were dried out and hard. Needed lots of water to swallow them. The burger bun crumbled when picked up. Mushy peas were cold. On top of all this, they gave single-use plastic cutlery without even asking. I'm sure these are banned, so they are breaking the law too

The setup is a bit chaotic as the place you order your food and collect your chips is all in a tight corner. The chips however were delicious. They did dish them up and leave them under the warm counter whilst waiting for the chicken nuggets and fish which meant they weren’t very hot but that was the only downfall. The food itself was very tasty

I have to say I have never written a posted a poor review ever but this place deserves it. Totally agree with previous customer about all you can taste is fat soaked food, the fish and chips themselves were tasteless and just fat soaked as opposed to cooked in oil. Has to be the worst fish and chips in the world. I would not recommend anybody stopping here for food.

Don't bother. Overpriced and not very nice. All you could taste was oil. The fish was so oily. Had a little pool of oil at the end of my tray. Chips tasteless. Didn't enjoy it at all. Lady serving was rude to other customers in the shop.

Worst cheese burger, chips & coffee available on Skye. Cheeseburger - The least amount of effort possible to make a cheeseburger. Microwaved or fried in god knows what, slapped together with a half melted single slice & shoved in a box. Luke warm, tasteless & served with a scowl. Grim. Chips, same technique probably but boil washed with somebodies socks. Grim. Coffee, luke warm brown water. Grim. Whole meal could have been made tastier by kicking it across the floor. When Nick & Fiona had this it was great, sadly not the case these days. If you want a proper feed go to Richard in the market just up the road or the Croft Cafe, & for half the price.

We were deterred from driving up to Skye by landslides. We’re told to eat lunch for a wee bit of time & try again. Siaway was open & good fast food! The box weighed a pound or so! Fresh icecream also. Service was great!

Amazing fish and chips smoked sausage amazing and curry sauce delicious. All staff served with a smile. Such a busy wee chippy.

Advertises as being open until 9pm. Be aware however that they seem to take last orders before 8pm. Tried to order at 8pm and they wouldn't do it. (Only wanted one portion of food for a child).

2/8/22 - Friday lunch takeaway. We three middle aged guys from London were touring Skye by our car and fancied a light takeaway lunch. Fish and chip shops seemed tater than they should be for an island and were usually very expensive so we thought about a Scottish pie and chips instead. We passed this place and parked up opposite by the water. Whilst i stayed in the car my friends went to get the food. They returned five minutes later saying there was no choice for vegetarians or pescatarians in the pie department. So were resigned to buying meat based pies. We sat in the bench by the water and delved onto the food in a polystyrene box. The chicken & mushroom pie was mostly mushroom and an unifentifiable sludge in a dried out crunchy pastry. The beef meat pie was a finely minced meatlike filling but pretty tasteless. The chips were the soggy, awful unevenly thick & thin cut chips. Some had black ends so quality control was near zero. The smaller pieces were crunchier. My friends noticed they were left on the side and reheated not ref refried (no double frying Belgian style chips anywhere to be had!). The whole sad affair set us back £12.65. The only redeeming thing was eating in the park bench with a view although the midges were eating us which makes them top predators. I don't think there was much meat in the pies and it made us glad to be vegetarians/pescatarians in hindsight. This establishment seems to have a monopoly being the first chip shop as one arrives from the north. They don't seem to make the effort in choice or quality, such a pity. If we were in need of a proper fish and chips later I don't think we shall go there.

Small but tasty Panko breaded haddock. Proper chips. Would certainly visit again. Also several breakfasts and hot drinks

Sorry but if you have a food establishment it should be at least clean. The staff nor the premises were , which is a total off put to customers . I would not visit again. Food was not of good quality either
