Bens Crib Box Cafe

Padstow, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
06/12/2019: what a great find. had the full english as a brunch - delicious. amazing bacon and top notch eggs. service with a smile. i will be back.
05/12/2019: We decided to give Ben a try on the recommendation of Katie at Prawn on the Lawn, as breakfast at our hotel was a little lacking.

The Olive Tree

Padstow, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
05/12/2019: We are visiting Padstow for the Christmas Festival, and following brilliant reviews we booked a table at The Olive Tree this evening.
23/11/2019: We had a lovely meal with excellent and friendly service. I had sardines followed by cod, both from the specials menu. The fish was cooked perfectly on each case and both courses were wonderful. My boyfriend enjoyed mushroom bruschetta followed by pork belly. He finished the evening with a treacle tart that he raved about, and I enjoyed a selection of cheeses whilst I finished a glass of excellent Malbec. A wonderful evening to celebrate my upcoming birthday, and when our host heard we were celebrating we were sent home with a little bottle of fizz to have after work on my actual birthday. A really nice touch from a restaurant that serves great food and has a very warm atmosphere - many of the other customers were clearly familiar regulars and I can absolutely see why!

Fat Apples Cafe

St Keverne and Meneage, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, <20£
01/11/2019: Fat Apples is awesome and I can't believe we haven't visited before, as we stay at Tregarne, between St Keverne and Porthallow every autumn break. With the pub in Porthallow currently currently closed, we planned our lunch stop at Porthallow. Fat Apples has a lot to live up to - we had several recommendations. It ticks all the boxes, beautiful outside on a warm autumn day, fantastic friendly and efficient service, alcohol licence if you want it, wonderful salads, they taste as good as they look. The homemade cakes and crumbles are devine. There is a gift shop to mooch around while waiting for your food to arrive. Check the autumn / winter opening times on website. I really recommend walking to the cafe if you can. There were quite a lot of cars squeezed in at peak lunch time and it's only a short walk up the hill from the beach in Porthallow.
28/10/2019: Visited whilst having a short break on the Lizard.

Charlie's Cafe Restaurant & Online Deli

Tintagel, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 30-45£
06/12/2019: We usually have the cream tea but as it was lunch time decided to have the burger. Must say that we were in agreement that it was the best burger we have ever had and I should say that the ones I make myself are pretty good!
05/12/2019: I have been coming to this cafe on a weekly basis and have had no problem. However I was told on this occasion that I was not allowed to feed my daughter snacks that I had brought with me. My daughter is extremely fussy and I had brought some biscuits with me for her. I was going to order for myself anyway. I had been bringing her own snacks with me for the past few weeks and it hadn't been a problem. Unfortunately I will not be returning, which is such a shame as i am local, however this unfriendly attitude and customer service is not very nice. My daughter was upset and wanted to know why she couldn't have her snacks as usual and stay in the cafe.

The Wheel House

Falmouth Arwenack, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
03/12/2019: We booked a table for 6.00 pm for 4 of us, the restaurant is quite small but it's got a lovely warm and cozy atmosphere. We ordered 12 scallops, 10 prawns with shells on, half a kilo of mussels in thai sauce with lovely crusty bread and skinny fries. We all shared with a lovely bottle of wine and then a cheese board to finish, absolutely delicious. All really good quality food and very reasonable prices, we will definitely recommend and will be going again. A little gem hidden away but well worth discovering.
30/11/2019: What a brilliant place, we were lucky & got in last minute having been recommended it by the tourist board, the scallops, oysters & mussels were superb served by very friendly staff

Michelle's Restaurant

Looe West and Lansallos, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
22/11/2019: Had a lovey meal here whilst staying in Polperro a few weeks ago. The food was lovely and freshly made, with a cosy atmosphere. Staff were very friendly, I would definately recommend this little Gem.
03/11/2019: Lovely Sunday lunch. Choice of 3 meats, chicken, beef, lamb or a mixture of all 3.

The Deck

Bude North and Stratton, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, >100£
30/11/2019: During my recent stay in Bude I sampled the food at the Deck on several occasions and what a wonderful surprise it turned out to be. Interesting and varied dishes all well prepared and served by the friendliest staff. I have to recommend the mussels in thai curry sauce and the various hanging skewer dishes which are just a bit unusual. If you are in Bude then the Deck has to on your list of places to eat.
29/11/2019: So a week ago the family and I were there. The food was as amazing as before and we loved it. It is so nice to find a place that think of the customer and not the profit. Thank you to the staff who are great too. But you must and need to book. You will not be disappointed. A great restaurant where the photos show you what you actually get. Delicious.. Always delicious.

Salamander Restaurant

Mevagissey, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
05/12/2019: I took my wife for a birthday treat. As always, all three courses were delicious. Started with chowder and baked camembert, mains we plumped for were John Dory and pork loin. Too full for dessert, but had home made chocolate torte and sticky toffee pudding. All washed down with a very respectable, zesty Cornish white wine. For a prime tourist position, the prices are very reasonable indeed. By the way the lady owner is a fabulous host!!! Please don't go, it makes it difficult for us to get a booking!!!
20/11/2019: A lovely restaurant in the heart of Mevagissey with an intimate & friendly atmosphere. The excellent food is unpretentious but cooked with care & a smile. Must revisit, & we did.

Outlaw's Fish Kitchen

St Endellion, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 30-45£
21/11/2019: Tiny restaurant right in the heart of Port Issac overlooking the sea. The concept is fish tapas with only 5 small plates on the menu, with a couple of specials. But boy are they cooked to perfection. Crab on toast was very good but the real star was the gurnard. It’s was amazing. Between the 4 of us we had everything on the menu and loved it all. The side of fries were also great.
21/11/2019: This was our second visit and if possible even better than the last one a year ago.

Lakeside Cabin Cafe

Ludgvan, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
25/11/2019: Popped in for breakfast as we live locally and hadn't tried it before. A really cosy cabin, roaring log stove and a lovely friendly welcome. Both our breakfasts were excellent, my scrambled eggs were delicious and the portions were very generous. The cakes looked amazing and if I'd have had any room, I would have liked to try some, but it's a nice excuse to go back! The setting by the fishing lakes is very pretty and the owners were super friendly and nice so I thoroughly recommend a visit.
24/11/2019: Another amazing lunch at the Lakeside Cabin today broccoli and Stilton quiche huge slice, and beautiful salad the only down side was we were so full we didn't have room for any of the incredible cakes. I love this place so tranquil it's like sitting in your best friends house eating and having a good old catch up, also the coffee is spot on with a selection of milks for most requirements.

Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar

Newlyn and Mousehole, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
30/11/2019: We called in to this roadside restaurant after reading reviews on here before our trip to Penzance. It makes a very nice stop off if you are doing the walk from Penzance main area to Mousehole as we were.
21/11/2019: Having been recommended this place from our holiday let owner, we decided to try it and we didn’t regret our decision.

The Fish House - Fistral

Newquay Central, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
02/12/2019: Found this place by looking at the reviews well I'm pleased to say the reviews did not disappoint we had a delicious meal. Staff were very friendly too Highly recommend
29/11/2019: Sorry, I am a little late in posting this review as myself and my wife were also at the demonstration evening last week. We were treated by our daughters and granddaughter to an early Christmas surprise and what a fabulous surprise it turned out to be. Thanks to Paul for the very informative demonstrations and stunning food, and to Elise and her staff for the wonderful service with smiles. Thanks to Nigel from Experience Wine for the perfect choice and explanation of the wine with each course. We can’t wait to return.

The Shore Restaurant

Penzance Central, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
25/11/2019: We ate at the Shore on a Saturday night in November. All we knew beforehand was that the menu was taster only and heavily biased towards local seafood.
21/11/2019: If talent, dedication to your art and just out and out hard work are a barometer of who is successful then Bruce Rennie should, by all accounts, be one of the leading chef/restauranteurs in the UK. Not that we have exhaustive experience of all things Michelin starred but we have been lucky enough to eat at a few over the years (L’Enclume, Alchemilla, Pipe & Glass) but on a rainy midweek November night in Cornwall we have been treated to some fantastic cooking more than deserving of the award. Despite being the only table booked we were met and chatted to with enthusiasm and warmth by lovely front of house and the pace of service was perfect. After our 7 courses were complete we were able to meet Bruce and chat to him about the food and his interesting journey to date. It is clear that despite talent and hard work it is tough out there to make a living in this field no matter whether you are top end restaurant, pub or cafe. All we can say is that if you love fish and live within a reasonable drive of Penzance or if you are on holiday in the area and want an amazing dining experience please make the effort. It is, of course, expensive for most of us but not crazily so and value doesn't mean cheap in our book. Fresh daily-caught produce, lovingly prepared throughout the day and cooked by Bruce each evening, not a team of chefs and all this whilst trying to renovate his house on his days off. We hope he gets the recognition and success he deserves.

Cherry Trees Coffee House

Padstow, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
05/12/2019: Service super - very attentive and happy staff who whilst being very busy are happy to chat - manage the seating well. Dairy alternative available. Coffee and cakes good. The slices of cake are huge so you might want to share although you don't have to!
29/11/2019: On our first morning we enjoyed some tasty bacon baps on our dog walk and we also popped back for lunch on our last day. Had chicken, mayo and tomato sandwiches, so simple but the local homemade bread just topped it off. Lovely cornish cuppa tea, spot on!

Cellar Bistro

St Ives North, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
28/11/2019: Fantastic food, great service and a brilliant evening. Restaurant was relatively quiet being outside the main tourist season. The staff were lovely and attentive, and the menu had a nice range of options. We both had the 'special' for main course which was a smoked haddock dish and absolutely delicious
19/11/2019: Had a very nice meal here - down some steps to a cosy and busy L shaped room with fun music playing. The fish was excellent and meat too and we shared a desert to see if that lived up to the main courses which it did! Will return.
