Another superb meal at Asquiths - wonderful from start to finish. The plum tarte tatin with rosemary ice cream was inspired! We are very lucky to have this first class restaurant in Lostwithiel! Thank you from Mike & Lisa

This was our first visit to Asquiths and will most definitely not be our last. The food and service is amazing and makes you want for no more I wish we had found this delightful place months ago.

We visited on a Saturday night and found the restaurant to be very welcoming. The food is perhaps a touch expensive but the wines are very reasonably priced so our overall bill wasn't much different from other local restaurants. The venison was excellent.

I'm a Yorkshireman and can cook to a reasonable level, so don't eat out very often as usually am disappointed at the price you pay. Not so here. Came for my wife's birthday and the food was excellent and the venue really welcoming but classy. I shall return.

We made a very late decision to head out for dinner on a Friday night and someone had mentioned Asquiths to us. We didn’t expect to get a table, but thankfully one was available. Warm & friendly welcome, fabulous food, great little wine list and perfect service - what more could you ask for. The menu had a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 desserts and we both opted for the lamb shoulder followed by beef filet and all dishes were perfectly cooked & seasoned. We each had a different dessert (again, excellent) and coffees. Along with an apéritif & bottle of wine, what we paid was good value for money for the overall quality. The restaurant is really tastefully decorated, tables are laid with nice linens and good quality stemware & flatware. The owners were warm & engaging throughout and nice to see their son coming into the hospitality sector too. Really is a hidden gem, in a lovely Cornish village, and will definitely be back & happy to highly recommend..

We decided here on the basis of the great reviews. I never normally give 5 ⭐️ as this indicates perfection but this restaurant really is very close to perfection. A cosy homely, spacious, beautifully and simply decorated restaurant with attentive knowledgeable staff creating a relaxed atmosphere. The food was simply stunning in every possible way and we couldn’t fault it. There was a huge amount of work and effort that went into making these dishes and offered superb value.

10/10 Excellent food, prices are fair given the quality. Quantity is also generous. Would highly recommend and come back!

Each dish was well presented and tasted divine! The service was friendly. The room was beautifully decorated and the comfortable.

Asquiths isn't open every day and this was our first opportunity to dine there. It wasn't busy, only three couples but the atmosphere was nice, we soon got talking. Service was prompt and efficient without being obtrusive. Staff were nice. My wife and I both tried dishes that we hadn't heard of before (sheltered lives!). My wife loved the beetroot pastilla and said the spice was delicious. I chose the pork soltimbocca (completely new to me). It was served on pasta instead of the more usual potatoes (according to the internet). On reflection I found the dish a little "unusual" with pasta but not in a bad way. It was nice to try something different. I really liked it but others might prefer to ask for potatoes. Let's talk about price/value. Our mains cost about £6 more than other local "eateries" but the difference in quality was worth that and more.

The food was amazing, especially the kedgeree croquette starter, the halibut main and the walnut bread! Definitely 10 out of 10! Unfortunately, the service, for us, was really disappointing. We were served, as in our order was taken and our food delivered, but that was it. No warm welcome, the wine plonked on the table, with no tasting offered, no first glass poured. There was zero interaction and no conversation. Maybe it was a bad night, or that's how it always is and the excellent food is enough for others.

A hidden gem in Cornwall that must surely be due a Michelin star in the very near future. Came here midweek for dinner and we were blown away by the quality of the cooking, a true artist. Prices were extemely reasonable for the quality of cooking and a quality wine list made for a memorable night out.

We have just eaten a fabulous meal at Asquiths. Each course was a feast for the eyes as well as perfectly cooked and the flavours well balanced. The prices for each course are a reflection on the cost of ingredients but still very reasonable. What we did notice was that, unlike other restaurants who serve a similarly high quality of food, the price of drinks was also extremely reasonable. We will be visiting again.

Stunning food, great service, friendly staff with a delightful atmosphere, complimented by an excellent wine list and our favourite champagne this restaurant is an absolute hidden gem, it matches all the big noises in Cornwall without shouting about its quality

I'm not a serial reviewer of restaurants but I had to acknowledge the wonderful meal we enjoyed at Asquiths in Lostwitheal last night. The staff were attentive and extremely accommodating of my mother's food intolerances - adapting her menu choice (the venison haunch) to meet her dietary needs with consideration and understanding. The food, cooked to order and with great care, was presented beautifully and was absolutely delicious. The excellent service and decor made the evening really special. Thank you.

This is a wonderful, cozy restaurant offering a modest selection of fine but generous dishes. I had the kedgeree that was delicious followed by a rich chicken & pasta dish that was reminiscent of old school french / Keith Floyd style with a rich cream sauce - again, really delicious. Very reasonably priced, I would highly recommend this restaurant for couples/small groups.

we chose this restaurant whilst we were visiting Cornwall, based on its good reviews and we were not disappointed. It is tastefully decorated with coloured paneled walls and comfortable seats. The food was of high quality and very well presented on the plate. You were given time to casually enjoy the flavours of your meal, with a suitable time period between courses for you to digest. I would recommend if you are in the area to book a table to sample the delights of this restaurant.

Been coming here for years but it’s been a while. It’s always been good and absolutely deserves all the positive reviews. I’m not going to list the food. Go look at the menu. It was astonishingly good. I’ve done a fair few fancy London restaurants and several with Michelin stars. This place just effortlessly kicks many of them to the kerb and I don’t understand why folk aren’t clamouring for a table. It’s not particularly cheap but it’s certainly not stupid prices and there aren’t too many places these days where you leave thinking that it was absolutely worth every penny. Love this place, stick your best frock on and dine in style. Food is beautiful, wines are excellent and well priced. Tables (6 from memory) are well spaced giving you good privacy. Luxury that doesn't break the bank.

We had pre-booked for dinner here as we had read good reviews and we were not disappointed! The starter charred mackerel was interesting and very tasty and the halibut main course was a generous portion, cooked to perfection and served with a delicious sauce. My dessert was good but the starter and main course were stunning! The wine selection was extensive and the house white was delicious and very good value. If you are in the area it’s well worth a visit!

Came here for my partners birthday as every time we have a special occasion, Asquiths is our go-to. Mikey is a chef and hard to please, but this place never disappoints with its flavours. Service brilliant, food great, have been to michelin star place's that don't even come close to the quality that this place has. Thankyou for a lovely evening.

We booked Asquiths for a special meal, last night of our holiday and our wedding anniversary, we certainly got one. From start to finish everything was spot on, the atmosphere was welcoming and the food top notch. I went mackerel then steamed bream, my wife soufflé and the fillet/shin, both faultless. Washed down with a nice bottle of wine and finished with a lovely panna cotta and cheese platter. Thank you for a lovely meal.

We had an amazing meal here last night with our friends. We all really enjoyed it and it was the nicest meal we have had in a long time. The duck was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection and the combination of flavours in all the dishes worked perfectly. The service was great and the staff very friendly. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fine dining.

All in all, this is in our opinion the finest restaurant we know in the SW. Certainly the chef must be a strong candidate for being the best chef! The short menu always contains an intresting selection that should suit everybody. Every dish has interesting combinations of flavours and all are perfectly executed. Our recent visit with friends was no exception. All of us had the charred Mackerel starter, with asian flavours. Superb and for £10 a steal. (an order of magnitude better than one we recently had elsewhere). All the mains were equally as good; beautifully cooked Sea Bream; Duck cooked perfectly pink, and I had the stunning beef dish.Wonderful. None of us can fault anything. And the wines are very fairly priced too. Treat yourself to a visit here, it's a small bistro-type informal place in the high street. It really doesn't get any better than this. How such top quality food is offered at such reasonable prices is beyond me. Quite Superb.

We were booked to come here as a couple one night & the night after my parents were supposed to be coming, but as my mum had a bad accident & ended up in hospital we emailed asking if it would be possible to bring our little boy with us as we had no childcare! They responded super fast & offered to go to the butchers to cater for our little boy! We tried 3 different starters, 3 different mains & 3 different desserts all of which were amazing! Food was delicious & presentation was perfect! I would recommend anyone visiting Cornwall to make the journey and visit Asquiths! The service was something else too! I will definitely be returning next time we visit Cornwall!

We ate here tonight & the food was superb. We travelled an hour to get to Asquiths & the journey was well worth it. We paid £90 for 2 starter's, 2 mains & a shared desert with 2 glasses of wine & 2 coffees. We thought this was excellent value. We will definitely return to Asquiths again.

As ever, the food and the service were faultless. If we were to pick one dish out from the rest (difficult, as everything we had was delicious} it was the fish starter. There are some places you go to eat because you just don't want to cook at home - others because you know you could never cook anything like what you're going to eat at home. That's Asquiths! Sally was on her own front of house but we never felt neglected. A great evening!

A simply beautiful meal with fantastic service. My wife has some food intolerances but having let the restaurant know beforehand they were able to adjust the menu without simply taking food or flavour off the plate (which some restaurants do) We couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Wow. Best meal I’ve had a very long time. Every course myself and my partner had was perfection. The owner was serving, her husband is the chef. Weren’t rushed, nothing was too much trouble, offered more free nibbles. Good quality food at a decent price. Will definitely visit again if in area.

Had dinner here while on holiday. The cheese soufflé starter was delicious. For mains we had hake which was beautifully cooked, cauliflower gnocchi which went down well and duck which was cooked to exactly the right level of pink. Puddings were heavenly with the plum tart tatin especially good.

Had two excellent meals here. The cheese soufflé was very good. My venison was of a very high standard and so tender. The poached pear with ginger cake and chocolate sauce was very very good. Service was good and we enjoyed the meal very much.

We are stying in Fowey and this is better than any restaurant there. Parsnip rosti starter very imaginitive. Between us we had the beef fillet, slow cooked lamb and roast hake. Visited here on Thursday for the best meal of our holiday in Cornwall. Absolutely magnificent food in a class understated relaxed atmosphere. Staff balanced being attentive against giving us space which was appreciated. Only negative, in current climate with covid being its highest in Cornwall, none of the staff wore masks. I would have expected that currently and would recommend but as said, staff were discreet and distanced where possible and tables well distanced apart. Overall a top notch restaurant.

You are greeted at the door, immediately taken to your table and made to feel like Royalty. Your privacy is respected and you feel like an honoured guest.The waitress was attentive always at the right time and my wife commented , I am sure she just gave a courtesy!The food was the best I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Superb, modern English food, locally sourced ingredients. Reasonably priced too !! Each course was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced, from the scallops with coconut curry to the coffee panna cotta.

We were on a reserve list and they contacted me as they had a last minute cancellation. (Euro 2020). Fabulous starter of scallops in a coconut curry sauce followed by beef with mash and greens. Both excellent. Great service and definitely not overpriced. Well worth a visit.

We cannot fault the excellent food but we were surprised by the unwelcoming and unfriendly staff. We may be grockles but expect the same friendliness and banter that we could hear between the staff and locals. The food was so good but this attitude detracted from our enjoyment and we could not wait to leave.

What a find. Fabulous food. Not a chip in sight, nothing from the grill, nothing bought in. This is a first class restaurant, the best restaurant meal we have had for some time. Recently redecorated it is a lovely space, staff are very professional and friendly. It is also Covid safe. Very imaginative menu using high quality ingredients. Very reasonably priced too.

Another brilliant takeaway from Graham and Sally!Salmon Rillettes as a starter- perfect; and with doughballs to die for. And our fish main course was well up to the usual high standard.We kept the sweet and some of the doughballs for Sunday.And the biosecurity is absolutely solid.All delicious

I had heard how good Asquith's were, checked their website and telephoned to collect take away meals from them. They were absolutely DELICIOUS. Have to add that the restaurant looked safe and very inviting, with well-spaced tables for reduced numbers of diners.

Fantastic cooking, great presentation and superb flavours at reasonable prices. An excellent G&T and wonderful - and good value - Cote du Rhone. Great service and well distanced tables is required in these Covid times. All in all an exceptional evening out. Do go and keep this restaurant afloat in these difficult times.

My wife and I dined there 2 nights ago and got our table at 6.30pm which, under current circumstances, was ok. We were slightly worried we might be the only people there and initially we were but it was absolutely fine; just the right amount of attention - perfect. The decor is warm and welcoming, in line with the service received. It seemed as though customers arrived at half hour intervals allowing each meal to be cooked very individually/ just for them!My wife and I both went for the Duck (duck breast, parmesan gnocchi, Jerusalem artichoke cream, savoy cabbage, squash puree) which was superb/ to die for! Lovely bread, olives and other pickies preceded. I wish we had been staying for a fourth night so I could return and have the Venison. I have a feeling it'd be great too.We'll be back soon and will book our tables!

We ate here a couple of weeks ago and can’t praise it highly enough. Amazing reasonably priced food - could taste every individual flavour. Attentive but inobtrusive service from Sally, the hostess. And perfect ambience. Really couldn’t fault. Our top dining experience for a long time - we live in London and Asquiths surpasses a lot of the places we eat in here. We will most definitely be back next time we are in that part of the world.
