Fabulous lunch of Pigeon Saltimbocca, with a very tasty amazing sauce. Wild garlic and fresh vegetables added a touch of class. Procecco and gin as an aperative and the hospitality of the owners Nachelle and Tony were a great start. For a desert we chose cheesecake with caralilised rhubarb and strawberry comport. Just a wonderful setting We will be back Paul & Barbara

I visited this charming Tea Rooms on Sunday with a friend for the first time. Walking into the garden was enchanting with lovely flower beds, trees and shrubs. Intimate spaces had been created with elegant tables and chairs where you can sit listening to the birds or soothing music and feast on a small but delicious menu. Homemade cakes and vintage teapots, or wild pigeon wrapped in pancetta, steak, mackerel and taramasalata. We began with a light cocktail of proseco with mango sorbet. The owners are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. This place is dog friendly, is near Crantock beach which is also dog friendly. What’s not to like. Thoroughly recommended.

I had been told about this place and urged to visit. It's a great and unique place. You can eat and drink in the garden or in a small garden room which contains quirky items and a stash of interesting books and magazines. My wife was in her element in the white painted shed/room. She loved it! The couple who run the cafe are really interesting and we stayed for ages chatting to them. It's a lovely holiday experience. Sadly not open when we visited slightly out of season this year.

Came across this tea room whilst on a walk around Crantock village. Spent a very pleasant hour reading the papers and sampling the delights of this lovely place. Home made elderflower juice and a proper pot of tea in a lovely garden. The owners both popped out to say hello and chat and we were made to feel very welcome and not rushed at all. A lovely place to have a pit stop with delicious home made food on offer and very reasonably priced.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

After a day on Crantock Beach we went off to discover the village including the old village stocks behind the church. Two pubs and a nearby tea room looked very busy and by chance, in a nearby lane but away from the hustle and bustle we spotted The Hevlas. It looked inviting and quaint from the outside, handmade signs beckoning us around the front to the back garden. We turned a corner and were greeted by a good afternoon from the owner. "Might we get a cup of tea?" I asked and he replied of course, "choose where you'd like to sit and I'll come over. There's upstairs on the terrace - that's boiling, or there's the Indian room under a canopy or this garden." We chose the terrace, a small balcony in the glare of the sun overlooking the lane but it was scorchingly hot. We ventured down steps into the Indian tea room. It was a lovely tranquil area with rattan furniture, oriental tables covered by a canopy tied to tree stump poles cemented into a patio which was adorned by emerald like stones at each intersecting corner. There was a selection of books and magazines including one of Cornish real life incidents including one about a shower of snails! We ordered two Cornish cream teas at £5.95 each, though as I can't do cream I had butter instead. There was a choice of plain or fruit scones and of jams - home made apple, a strawberry and a third. We opted for strawberry jam and fruit scones. We waited just a few minutes before a huge pot of tea made with three tea bags arrived, colour co-ordinated with milk jug and jar with tongs and classy Demerara cubes. The cream teas followed soon after each presented on a large slate - two large scones, a pot of jam, a pot of cream and a strawberry lightly dusted with icing sugar, the scones were moist yet crumbly, full of fruit and easy to cut. The jam was seedless but a good quality though not Wilkins' Tiptree. It was an ample tea and we each managed two and half cups of tea so as not to waste the pot. A visit to the loo led me to what appeared to be the owner's bathroom with an old fashioned free standing bath and a bowl containing cuttings of philosophical sayings directly in front. There were fancy soap dispensers and a hand towel. I had to examine back garden and found three or four tables and chairs generously spaced out and occupied by relaxing visitors. Flowers and trees abounded and the village church tower was glimpsed beyond the garden. The windowed shed had been turned into a summer house with couch and the green house too inviting customers to take tea. Stevie Wonder's As followed by Bob Marley and the Wailers' Exodus could be heard on speakers as I learned that The Hevlas name originates from the live music group the owners are part of. Even the business card is individual and creative, two words which sum up The Hevlas

My family have been to Crantock almost every year since 1990 but this week was the first time we've visited this place and what a find. Lovely, friendly, accomodating staff, a beautiful but unusual setting in the loveliest gardens and great fresh food too! Me and my husband thought this place was great, all tables are in individual places such as the conservatory or the cottage where we were sat. Had a lovely bottle of prosecco a shared starter, 2 mains and the best dessert I've had for ages, plus coffee for under £60! You must try it!

The tea room is set in Crantock village in a fantastic garden that the owners have done up to perfection, with little places to sit and eat throughout the garden. The owners Tony and Nachelle are friendly and knowledgeable about the produce and the meals. I really adored this place. This little place was a delightful find! The tables outside in the pretty garden and some on little terraces, underneath the apple tree and a few inside. Little fairy lights and wind chimes adorn this garden. We sampled their cream tea, which was delicious. The scones were home made and so light, choice of home made jams, all beautifully served on nice china. We actually had two cream teas there and also had dinner there one evening. They are not open every day, and only occasionally open in the evenings until 9.00 pm. We did have a lovely there, my husband had steak with all the trimmings and I had Moroccan lamb with couscous and salad, which was very tasty. They are also licensed and we chose a rather nice red wine to go with our meal, and ice cream for pudding.

My only disappointment was that we only discovered the Hevlas on our last night in Crantock! What a lovely place to visit for a drink and food, the owners are so passionate about what they do and it shows in their service, food and spaces they have created in their home for all to enjoy and appreciate. Do not visit the area of Newquay / Crantock without paying this place a visit, you will not be disappointed. I had the Rabbit with new potatoes and green beans, my wife had the homemade fish cakes with potato salad, everything homemade and fresh (See pic attached) it was truly scrumptious, no leftovers for my dog, it was that good. The cakes were also divine, sure we bought an additional piece of carrot cake to take home for a friend, we also ate that when we got back to the tent, the friend will have to wait until we visit again. 10 out of 10 for me!!!! We are looking forward to visiting the Hevlas again when we are in Crantock in June 2015.

What a glorious find for four tired and hungry walkers. We could not believe our luck to meet the warm and friendly smile of Nachelle who welcomed us into the Hevlas and settled us down to a pretty little seating area outside surrounded by flowers, chimes, words of wisdom and artefacts. In case we felt cold she quickly supplied us with some blankets for our legs. There are some cute indoor places to sit as well including a converted period play house All the food is home made and it comes with a big smile and was delicious. How lovely to come across a couple who obviously have such joy from running their tea room and they just want to make sure that all their customers have a wonderful, experience eating there. The menu has different special most days. Everything we chose was tasty and we could not resist trying each of the home made cakes when we had coffee. So if you are coming off the coastal path give the tea room by the beach a miss and head up the road into Crantock village and you will not be disappointed. You can then pick up the coastal path further along ..

We had a lovely visit to Crantock beach which was exceptional views and so glad we found it. We were looking for somewhere for a bite to eat and saw The Hevlas tea gardens, we sat in the Indian garden and had great food and drink. The garden is really quirky and made very special with Halloween decorations, our children aged 9 & 6 loved the pumpkins but especially loved the Halloween games of dunking into flour to get sweets and apple bobbing, the owner really went out of her way to make our visit very special. What a lovely setting, could have stayed there quite happily all evening; a nice and relaxing atmosphere. The Hevlas is open on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at the moment and it is worth looking out for the menu of the week on the blackboard outside. The Hevlas is nice little cafe/restaurant tucked away in Crantock. However it is only open weekends and bank holidays I think. The owners are very friendly and the garden is very quirky! There are lots of different seating areas including a sort of hut and a roof top table. Also the grass is artificial which is interesting. The chicken satay wrap I had was very nice but the BLT had stale "ciabbatta" bread. The homemade elderflower was delicious but the coffee wasnt the best. However the scones were lovely and so was the setting, making this a nice lunch.

We walked to The Hevlas from Newquay (incidentally a lovely beach walk in itself), secure in the knowledge that this was a breakfast worth working for. We were given the warmest of welcomes by the owner, Nachelle, and were led through to an enchanted back garden, bursting with greenery and finished beautifully with subtle, scattered touches of Cornwall...and Asia! We were a four (plus three dogs - each more than welcome to dutifully lie in the cottage gardens) so we had three Full English Breakfasts and one Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs. All four plates were absolutely delicious, each finessed with homemade and organic ingredients, all generously portioned. The tea and coffee we accompanied our meals with was top notch too, leaving us truly and utterly contented. And then, to complete the experience, the bill arrived (with some chocolate mints - naughty in the morning, but we gladly obliged!) which seemed very modest, highlighting the brilliant value of this secret place too.We can't wait to return when we are next in Newquay (or the surrounding area) for lunch, cream tea, dinner, cocktails...or just to say "Hi" to Nachelle and Tony at their wonderful spot of quintessential brilliance. This is a hidden gem you will be forever pleased to have unveiled!

The owners have set this business up in their own home and it really was a wonderful experience. I believe they currently open three days each week Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The welcome was so friendly, I'd say if your visiting the Crantock area this is the one place you must try I couldn't fault it. I had a glass of wine and a slice of cake my daughter had hot chocolate and a piece of rocky road and we both really enjoyed. I guess that applies to adults too). Had a big slice of cake.... and a very cool welcome beer after our walk. Could say so much more, just see pics. After a 4 mile walk along the coastal path between Holywell Bay and Crantock on a fairly hot summer's day, we were in need of some refreshment. A car park attendant was only able to point us in the direction of beach front cans and ices so we decided to walk into the village of Crantock to see what we could find. We nearly walked past The Hevlas because it looked like, and is, someone's back garden but as the sign said, 'Tea Gardens', we followed the arrow to the somewhat unusual garden with seating in various nooks and crannies. On our first visit we opted for a BLT. This was served in gorgeous rosemary and olive rye bread with salad leaves picked from the garden in front of our eyes. The service was very friendly and personal and life seemed very pleasant indeed sitting under the apple tree eating our lunch. We tried to revisit for a cream tea later in our holiday, only to find that we hadn't read the board regarding opening days - not the early part of the week. We did go back again on the last day of our holiday however, when I had a clotted cream cake with blackberry and apple compote and my husband tried Tony's take on a Cornish pasty. Both were divine. The menu might not be the most extensive but what was on offer was really fresh and of very high quality. Thoroughly recommended.
