We visited as a group of 4 friends. Staff were really lovely and helpful. Had a delicious bottle of wine in the garden before dinner and the food was amazing. Thoroughly recommend the scallops! Definitely somewhere I'll be coming back to.

Our late summer break always coincides with celebrations and somewhere special for dinner to mark the occasion is a must. This restaurant was special and truly marked the occasion for us. Setting, ambience, staff and of course, the food were all first rate. Even the chef spoke to us through the kitchen window as we left to enquire if everything had been OK. As for the few reviews on here that weren’t five stars, with the greatest respect, go give your heads a wobble. I do look forward to being in the area again and enjoying this gem. Thank you for making our special evening just that.

We were staying in the Old Millhouse and ate in the Bistro twice. Our food was delicious and the service was excellent. We would highly recommend eating here as the ambience is very special and food outstanding! Thank you.

What a fantastic find! An awkward start, with multiple wrong bookings on arrival courtesy of Booking.com but this was ironed out professionally and speedily. I’d advise booking directly. A really beautiful, and peaceful family run business with amazing food. We love seafood but the starters and main courses were the best we’ve experienced anywhere. Beautifully presented. Locally sourced produce with an absolute gem of a chef. This was on a par with Stein’s restaurant for seafood food but much better value and more personal service. Friendly and speedy service. Small and personal with comfortable rooms and lovely garden to relax in. Breakfast was fantastic. Well done The Old Mill!

An amazing setting and building and a cosy dining room with the option of eating outside when conditions allow. Pleasant though rather uneven service eg a lack of cutlery initially. As to the food, pretty good but “room” for improvement “ as in the “ charred “ pork chop being ok but not actually charred and the “ seared scallops “ not actually seared. Great selection of local craft beers. We would return to give it another try.

My favourite meal of the weekend! We started our meal with the complimentary bread basket and butter. Wow, we thought if this was just the bread course what would the rest of the meal be like.. Starters, they were the nicest starters we have ever had! We had scallops, mackerel and the monkfish scampi. Every single one of them was perfectly executed and the presentation was brilliant. Mains we all opted for steak. The peppercorn sauce was the best we had tasted. My fillet needed to be cooked a little longer, but this was no bother and was sorted so quickly. Pudding it was only me who had room so I opted for the cheeseboard. Again delicious! I can’t express how nice the food was, a real hidden gem with a culinary genius.

Stayed here for a night to visit local area + beaches. Very well situated for visiting Padstow (just 2 mile walk on lovely off-road footpath if you like rambling. Or 5 mins by car). Rooms beautiful + well equipped + full English breakfast absolutely amazing with locally sourced + gluten/dairy free options. Owners extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble.

Excellent meal from a menu composed of local fresh food options. Taste, presentation and service were all top notch. Cocktails and wine choices were great for a small restaurant. Ate there while staying at the location as a guest at the Old Mill House. I recommend both experiences.

Outstanding! Great welcome, casual fine dining with quality fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection. Small but creative menu showcasing locally sourced produce. As others have said, without doubt this was the best meal we have eaten locally, well priced and with good filling portions. Adam, chef, and his charming wife Lesley (owners for 10 years) and the rest of their team should be proud of themselves, the bistro and of course that delicious food. Almost tempted to keep this to ourselves but that wouldn't be fair. We chose Gnocchi, Hake, sticky toffee pudding and a cheese plate. Best tasted Try it, can guarantee you will want to return!

We chose The Old Mill Bistro for a celebration birthday meal and we are so pleased that we did! Lovely, friendly service and amazing food which was locally sourced and beautifully presented in ample portions. We had previously mentioned that 3 of us are vegetarian and the chef even added an extra option for us. It was definitely a meal to remember!

What a beautiful meal - this is truly a must go to restaurant if you are anywhere near the area. I had the monkfish scampi as a starter and hake as the main course. Both were brilliantly cooked - truly superb. The sauces of both dishes were simply excellent and the fish was so well cooked. The hake was the best I have ever eaten! Only downside was an overbearing American gasbag holding court (literally) a few tables away - never heard anyone love the sound of his own voice as much as him! Other than that the atmosphere was good and the music was great. My best to the chef and the waitress (owners I think) for their forthcoming wedding. Hopefully, someone will serve up as good a meal for you on your big day as I had tonight!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Mill. We stayed for two nights for bed and breakfast. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious offering an excellent choice. For one evening we had a meal at the Old Mill Bistro and the food was first class! Overall a wonderful break with really friendly hosts!

For ages we have driven past or been on the bus going to Padstow and said we really must try it as it looked amazing from outside. So yesterday we booked and turned up at the Old Mill house. As we walked through the building the history and character was really brilliant, we were shown to our table and I had a great view of the waterwheel. We both had the scallops to start which was phenomenal great flavour. We then had our main course of roast beef and roast pork with crackling, roasted potatoes, two types of cabbage, roasted parsnips and carrot purée and proper gravy, oh nearly forgot cauliflower cheese which was the best I’d ever had. We had wine by the glass and bottled beer. The service was excellent and attentive, what a place to visit. Highly recommended. Local bus service from Wadebridge takes you almost to the door and they have parking available too. Can’t wait to go back.

An incredible evening at the Old Mill. This place is a hidden gem that far too modestly whispers class and a high quality dining experience. We had oysters followed by the Cotè de Beouf. Both were perfection. Thank you Adam and the team! We will definitely be back!

Lovely small restaurant which we liked. The food was fantastic full of flavour and cooked really well. I had Monk Fish to start followed by Sea Bass and my wife had Pork Belly to start followed by sirloin steak, overall a great birthday meal.

When we arrived, we were welcomed in this quaint lovely restaurant. The staff were very accommodating and friendly couldn’t do enough for us. There was a good selection of locally produced fresh food, it was hard to make a selection off the menu. We will definitely return next time We are travelling down this way

The food was so good on our stay we cancelled the posh Padstow restaurant we had booked and eat here again the second night! Superb steak with perfect cooked crispy chips. The monkfish scampi tasted so good!...the next night I had the hake, very fresh, really delicious and great value!

Would highly recommend. We had dinner at the Old Mill Bistro and it was without doubt the best dinner of our week in Padstow (Sorry Mr Stein!). Try the innovative katsu monkfish scampi for starters....all our fish dishes were beautifully cooked and great service. Will need to book ahead of your holiday as its a small restaurant - but well worth a visit.

I can see why you have to book early here, a super meal with excellent service. Food is absolutely spot on, we had duck which was cooked brilliantly, nearly all local produce and a great atmosphere combined to make this a really enjoyable dinner - would highly recommend and book early if you are planning to go, you won’t be disappointed.

This was our first experience of the Old Mill Bistro and an attempt to find another restaurant favourite within the Padstow area that we visit every year. The food and service did not disappoint, the menu seemed to change regularly, the selection was superb and the prices very reasonable. We visited with a small dog and appreciated that we would have to sit out in the lovely Mill garden but we didn't anticipate how dark it would get and with limited lighting we eat in the dark or by phone torch, the food looked good, tasted great, but would have tasted even better with a table lamp. My daughter is still raving about the duck ! we look forward to coming again.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Old Mill Hotel & Bistro. The epitome of Cornish hospitality, great food and service in a tranquil and timeless setting, just a short hop from Padstow. What a gem and great value all-round!

Always always always meet our high expectations - food is beautifully cooked, the menu varied enough and the service is simply fabulous. We have to visit here when in the area and recommend that you do too. BTW - always sufficient parking in the church car park over the road and only 50p.
