We stayed in Newport and met friends who live locally and they booked a table at this wonderful pub. We were shown to a nice table and drinks order taken after a polite “hello”. We were given enough time to study the menu and any questions were quickly answered. Can only comment on two dishes as the girls all had fish and chips which looked amazing and tasted great so I was told. I although not a vegetarian fancied the sweet potato and chick pea curry and it was absolutely delicious. The beers were tasty, I tried three and the landlady was very chatty and attentive. If I’m ever in Newport again I’ll be sure to make the fairly short journey to this fantastic pub and you should as well.

Nice atmosphere and really really lovely staff, just not authentic Spanish I’m afraid. Wine list was surprisingly limited for decent Spanish wine and a few classic Spanish dishes weren’t even available. For example they offer garlic bread instead of pan con tomato. Still on the hunt for an authentic local Spanish tapas spot 🙏 really nice spot and good service if you aren’t after the authenticity :)

Nice Sunday lunch for a pub. Staff enjoy their work and are busy. Generous portion s plenty gravy but lukewarm, plate and meat lukewarm too unfortunately. I should have asked for them to put it the microwave but unsure how they would respond. Over generous on their boiled potatoes for me. Would prefer less but more roasted.

A relaxed ambience and attentive staff. Expectations were high with a £78 set menu (3 courses). We both had the pork belly to start which was very tasty and succulent. I had a sirloin and my husband a rump steak for main. These were very disappointing. The sirloin was extremely tough and chewy - almost inedible. I swapped for my husbands rump as this was less chewy but still far from an acceptable standard for the cost of the menu. Very poor quality meat - as it appeared to be cooked as requested (medium rare) - but so hard. My husband had the cheeseboard for dessert - nothing special, akin to what you’d pay £7/8 for in a pub. I had the pavlova which was very nice - but again, didn’t really reflect the cost. Overall a very disappointing experience. £185 for the two menus and two Heineken beers. Extortionate - hugely overpriced for the food served.

Food was dreadful. The seabass was far too big for one person. The rocksalt that it was baked in, was obviously short of egg whites as it hadn’t sealed the fish and consequently the fish was over done. The fish came with half a roasted lemon. We paid £7 for a very small dish of chips, that were chopped up potatoes barely fried. The dish of leeks were dark brown, well over cooked and unappetizing to say the least. We declined dessert and coffee. As a tourist I spoke to the interim manager, who listened and was disappointed with our experience at the restaurant which has been recommended to us.

Had a lovely evening and well looked after by Holly and Alina. Food was ok. Bit of a mix for our table. Would recommend the chicken and waffle desert. Steak and lamb were ok. Fish good apparently. Not quite 5 star. Enjoyed our though.
