The best restaurants serving Default food in Blandford Old Town North Dorset South West

We moved to Blandford area a few months ago and have been using Simla regularly. Food always good and service exceptional particularly the young man at front of house. Always chatty and a credit to the business. All the best going forward. Jay

I had been wanting to try this cafe for a while now so stopped off today for lunch. Very disappointing. The food felt expensive for what we were served, cheap ingredients, poor presentation and service was lacking. It was a nice day so we sat outside but that was spoilt by dogs roaming free eating leftovers from tables left uncleared, dog poo not picked up and an old pick up truck which when started up engulfed our table in smoke! I won’t be returning and I would not recommend to others.

Went in to order and take away. Food was OK. Standard high street Chinese takeaway. The couple working were very friendly and welcoming. Removed a couple of stars though because the place felt a little grotty and could use a deep clean. The menu and prices on the counter to order from appears to have been there for many many years and the prices have gone up significantly since then. Rather than replacing the menu, they’d updated the prices on the old menu by writing over them on a piece of tape but that had long since faded revealing the prices underneath and rendering the new prices illegible. There’s also a printed out piece of paper taped to the desk advising customers that “in 2018 prices will go up 30% from those listed on the menu”. It’s now 2025. For a further glimpse back to history they advertise a 50p card charge for orders under £15 (though they were kind enough to waive this for my £14 order

I am absolutely gutted that this place has closed. It was my go-to curry house for a sit down meal. Many, many thanks and my very best wishes for the future must go to Somok Ali.

Nice full English for Mother’s Day, great place with quality food and even better paid for by my daughter! The mothers weren’t offered as many Mimosas as advertised but we still had a good time.

As I've come to expect from Costa. Friendly + efficient staff. The best Americano Plenty of comfy seating February 2025 They've repainted + new chairs etc Looks very good! Only 4* as I didn't use the bathroom(sic) so I cannot comment.

Arrived and sat down on a comfy couch . After being ignored for several minutes managed to make eye contact with the waitress......the xtra large Eastern European one with bleached blond hair. I asked would it be possible to order and she abruptly replied " you order from the bar " turned her back and walked off . There is no signage to inform customers this is the protocol? So I walked up to the bar and she disappears knowing full well I wanted to order food ......bizarre/ unbelievable! After couple of minutes the other waitress took my order . Pleasant young girl with glasses. I ordered bacon & egg sandwich & coffee ......a few minutes later the sandwich arrived minus the fried egg . Few minutes later ( no problem mistakes happen ) the correct sandwich arrived with a request for me to go to the till after I finished to pay for the egg ! I have never ( I'm 64yo) experienced such rude ignorant behaviour in a restaurant. Hall & Woodhouse .......you should be ashamed employing such incompetent rude ignorant staff that can barely understand English and do not understand the meaning of the word service . The food was EXCELLENT but will not return .

Lovely lunch, jack conviced us to try the new carbonara which was amazing, lovely staff and food is always great. Really good portion sizes 😃

Takeaway used ordered and collected in person. Not sure what’s happened as I have had good meals from here before, however both curries were tasteless. Naan bread ok. Not cheap £25! I wasn’t sure about the state of the building either quite a bit of repair needed, including a bucket on the floor for leaks! Staff friendly. Not recommended.

Very much enjoyed our late lunch here. Young staff and manager were very friendly and helpful. Extremely good value for money, reasonable prices and big portions. We actually quite like the unique interior it’s cosy!

Faultless lunch. Good friendly service, we were looked after all the way. Easy free parking (register at the bar on arrival). We ate inside but lots of people outside on a lovely sunny day, spacious area.

Picked up this evening, king Prawn curry and prawn fried rice usually very good but tonight it was as too salty Could have been much better , wasn’t a curry really , just a gravy consistency

Visiting the town for a day and wanted a picnic lunch. Had a Wiltshire ham sandwich and a chocolate and hazelnut brownie. All very tasty prepared with quality ingredients. Highly recommended.
