The best restaurants serving Default food in Lansdown Cheltenham South West

A brilliant place to dine in Cheltenham. Even though 3 of our party arrived over an hour late, this wasn't an issue for the restaurant. We had a great birthday meal and a birthday card that the manager passed around in secret to get everyone in the restaurant to sign. Very highly recommend, we will return.

Very pleasant experience. Unfortunately all purveyors of liquids containing caffeine now have to be compared with the positively divine Slō Cafe ......and non quite meet Slō's exceptionally high standards.

Really good and tasty food. Definitely something different. We are not that familiar with SriLankan dishes so this was a great experience to get us into this context. Menu is fairly limited, not a massive choice so 4 not 5 stars for food. Service was delightful. It was a Wed. When we went and there were only 2 other tables so it lacked a sense of atmosphere. Will definitely go again in a few months.

Very disappointed. The place was cold so sat in our coats. I had a coffee to warm me up which cost £4.75 - ridiculous price. We had to wait an hour for our food even though it was not busy. The food was nicely cooked but very small for the price. Will not be going back in a hurry.

Great meal and excellent service. Lovely setting in the garden room. Pity there was noone else eating at the time but the staff made up for it

Typically excellent Ivy food and service. We had the bombe dessert which was theatrical, impressive and delicious. Beautiful building. Not masses of space (table of 5).

Daphne is always a great place to get away from the festival crowds in a pretty side street just off the Royal Well Crescent and a short walk from the vibrant Promenade. Ilhan the owner and chef is always there with a warm welcome and cooks everything fresh to order. We love the fillet steaks and last night’s were just perfect, not an ounce of fat in them and cooked medium rare just as we asked. The mixed mezze mini salad starters are really tasty too, including minty tabbouleh, fish and beetroot salads, all home made and served with baked bread. It is a family run business and so if you can book ahead that’s great to help them prepare service but they always welcome walk ins too.

We visited early in the week and were glad we’d booked a table as it was quite busy. Service was excellent. We didn’t have to wait long for our food and the staff were very attentive. Delicious food, cooked to perfection.

We visited last week whilst staying in Cheltenham. We booked last minute for 20 people, they accommodated us without any complaints. Due to an event that was late we didn’t arrive until 8:45. The staff were amazing with no complaints about our punctuality. The food was out and was fantastic. 20 satisfied chaps, I would 100% recommend this to anyone.

My wife thought the world of this place always enjoyed the food and the service also the excellent service from the staff and owner's best wishes for the future

An old favourite, ruined by a terrible experience . Barman refused to acknowledge that the vodka soda. I ordered was not right although it most clearly was and refused to taste (understandable) replace or acknowledge: we don’t want free drinks - and I know what my regular drink tastes like. Please listen to customers. UPDATE- communicated my complaint to the owner/manager - who said it would not be easy for me to prove that there was an issue although we always believed customers opinions on the drinks and expect there was possibly smoky whisky in the measuring pourer." This place is just brilliant, I see that others have commented on the prices, if you are only interested in the price go to Weatherspoon's!! John Gordon's is a great experience, a lovely atmosphere, friendly and highly informed staff who will guide through the extraordinary range of drinks, If you are in Cheltenham and you miss it - big mistake!!

We had a very,good experience at this restaurant with friends on our second night in Cheltenham.The Soho bar were very welcoming and offered a good menu and drinks choice.The staff were very professional and looked after us throughout our stay.It was very much pub food but very tasty .
