Primavera Ristorante in Cheltenham

We visit Cheltenham every year but this was our first time at Primavera. We then learned that friends had reserved a table there for the four of us for a few nights later. We were more than happy to return for a second go! The food is excellent, not overfacing, and beautifully cooked. A short and entirely Italian wine list, which was a refreshing change from the norm. We only ate in the downstairs room, so can’t speak for upstairs, but the restaurant was clean and fresh, and well presented. Ana was a perfect balance of friendly but professional. Finally, we felt it was extremely good value for money. We will definitely return here next time we are in Cheltenham.

A fabulous restaurant - just the sort we love. A small genuine and authentic place providing fresh fabulous food with very efficient and friendly service - all so professionally overseen and managed by the lovely Ana. Would recommend without hesitation and will certainly return next time in Cheltenham. Thank you again.

Called in without booking and was warmly welcomed and quickly seated Food was as always delicious with a particular mention for the Risotto which was outstanding. Service was friendly sleek & professional. This is one of Cheltenhams gastronomic gems and definitely worth trying

Truly the best Italian restaurant I’ve visited in the U.K. The quality of food coupled with the friendliness of their staff is first class. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

The table was on the first floor at the top of very steep stairs. The noise level was so high we couldn’t hear each other speak. The waiter did not appear to know the menu and was difficult to hear. Bread basket consisted of four small pieces of bread. Overpriced and not good value for money.

Feels like you’re in Italy. Lovely negroni’s, staff are very sweet and are great for a recommendation, the food is always spectacular. Make a booking on weekends though, possibly even weekday evenings - they can fill up fast!

My husband I have been here three times now. The the food, service and atmosphere are always great Tonight I went by myself (husband traveling). The service and food is was on point and is consistently good. Personal favourit is the spaghetti bolognese. Great portion sizing and the flavours great. It’s a must when visiting Cheltenham or if you just want to go out for dinner and treat yourself on a Monday evening. Word of advice; do book ahead; Monday night it was packed.

Beautiful hidden gem in Cheltenham. Staff always so welcoming and polite. Food consistently delicious and well presented. This is a great value authentic Italian. Book to avoid disappointment.

Lovely food. Freshly prepared. A good selection of pasta dishes although we thought the steak was overpriced for such a small cut. It is quite an expensive restaurant (especially the drinks), but nice for a special occasion.

Greeted with big smiles on a very cold evening food was very well cooked and presented and service was excellent

I have dined here many times and rate Primavera Ristorante amongst the top 3 restaurants in Cheltenham. Fine quality, fresh ingredients, prepared and cooked with care on the premises. What could be better? Professionally family run. Pristine white linen table cloths and napkins. Casual dress well suited, or dress up too. Why not? Stunning festive evening views over the reindeer roundabout. Suits all age groups. Pricing very competitive. Always a cheerful welcome!

We booked again after our first visit, not something we normally do, but the service and all round experience was well worth doing again. Spag Bolognolese was amazing, so was the chicken salad, followed the next night by Stroganoff and Linguine. The Pistachio mousse dessert was my wifes favourite, one of her best ever she claims. All in all a lovely two nights meals with lovely friendly atmosphere and we will definitely visit again if in the area.

This was our first visit to this restaurant,which I booked after reading some fabulous reviews and it certainly did not disappoint! We were a party of four and everyone of us including one vegetarian did not leave anything on our plates,we had three courses and this rarely happens. Loved supporting a family run business providing exceptional food and service! Literally cannot wait to go back.

Had a fabulous meal on a Friday evening. Wonderful food, good wine and friendly service! What more could you ask for. The pasta was amazing and very tasty. Tiramisu was also excellent.

Had a family dinner here, was traveling to Cheltenham from London. Prices are London like. Was happy with the quality of food, fresh and tasty, desserts were great. However the dish size was quite small for it's price, I was left a bit hungry after the main dish. Pizza was good, but not top tier. Toilets were clean, but there was no paper tissue or hand drier. No concerns for the service, food came on time. Parked my car on the Montpelier street, after 8 pm it is free around.

Beautifully cooked , absolutely delicious food served by lovely people. It’s been a long time since I have had an equally great restaurant experience. I was with a large group of people so the staff coped really well. Thank you so much to everyone.

What a little gem Primavera is.Four of us were there for my birthday & my sister in laws(same day) & we all had different main courses, which were excellent.My lasagne was the best Ive ever had & perfect in portion size.My husband & I shared two deserts,the tiramisu and the pear & chocolate tart.Both melted in the mouth.Luscious. Our waitress was very pleasant and charming and even the chef came to our table for a chat.All in all a wonderful lunch time experience which we hope to repeat.

Six of us plus baby (in baby seat) celebrating my daughter's birthday. Food was great and service was excellent and friendly. This restaurant is now on our list as one of our favourites in Cheltenham.

Fabulous independent restaurant. We visited here last year and loved it. We were really looking forward to visiting again and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and so was the service. Cannot wait to visit again

Disappointed with our recent visit to this Italian Restaurant in the middle of Cheltenham. I ordered Cozze Fritti (mussels steamed in white wine and creamy sauce, garlic and capers served with toasted ciabatta bread) which were delicious but lacking in sauce plus the ciabatta bread was on the small size. Also I had to ask for the standard water bowl when eating mussels. For the main course I ordered the Gamberi Fritti (large tiger prawns coated in breadcrumbs, deep-fried, served on a bed of salad with pickles and garlic mayo). I was very surprised to see the prawns served in breadcrumbs with still the shell and head on which made it extremely difficult to pick out the prawn, biting into the shell was not a pleasant experience. The salad and pickles were also on the minimalistic side and as a side, I ordered the roasted vegetables which again was disappointing with approximately 8 pieces of veg for £4.50. Drinks are also very excessive, £10.90 for a 600ml bottle of Peroni and a bottle of still water £5.50. I questioned the staff as to why the shell and head were left on and coated in breadcrumbs and the response was that it was easy to pick the prawn out of the shell, why wasn’t this done before being cooked?? After reading the previous reviews I was very disappointed with my meal that I had been looking forward to so will not be rushing back.

Lovely evening meal - service was friendly and very helpful. Food was served promptly but we didn't feel rushed. Excellent pick for our Saturday night meal and we will definitely look to go back next time we are in Cheltenham

Nice quaint little restaurant in the heart of Cheltenham. The food was very authentic and fresh. The atmosphere was a wee bit cold in the room, and you can tell the upper class that frequent the restaurant like to stare at others like they are lower than them. This didn’t affect the food or our experience though. The service was a tiny bit slower than we expected.

Had a week based in Cheltenham while touring the area. We used this fantastic restaurant 3 times, the service is amazing, the food amazing, true family run restaurant, all we had was fantastic.. we will be back.

Went with a group of 8 colleagues during our lunch break at Primavera. We specified we are in a rush as we needed to be back at work soon and asked if we'll have time to enjoy a 2 course meal. Lunch set menu offers lots of choices and it's a great deal as well, 2 courses for £17.95 or 3 courses for £21.95. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and they managed to serve us in time.

We recently dined at Primavera Ristorante. We were a party of 7 and the experience was amazing. We started the dinner with some garlic and tomato bread. For starters we had a mix from the starters menu but by far the best choice is the Gamberini Fritti. The mains were perfect , considering that we had 3 beef fillets all cooked differently. I strongly recommend the fillet dolcelatto, the sauce is amazing, with some roasted veg next to it. We also had one person dairy free and everything was sorted easily by the chef. The staff is very warm and attentive. Everything is homemade and tastes delicious. Can't wait to go back. Thank you Primavera.

Had another highly enjoyable evening meal here tonight. The quality of the food is always high and prices haven’t changed for a few years now. A regular favourite of ours for an affordable light supper with drinks and high value for money. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating of our needs.

Since moving out of Cheltenham we haven’t managed to visit this gem of a restaurant, but visiting family recently we made an effort to book in, and I’m so glad we did. Tucked at the top of Montpellier in between two other food outlets, this Italian delivers on service, quality and where most lack, passion. Whether you choose pasta, fish or meat, everything is cooked on site, to order. Sauces bursting with flavour washed down with a wine list to suit every course and budget. However, the star on the menu is a Tiramisu that is a sublime cloud of a dessert. With outside seating this is a treat on its own with a good coffee any time of day.

Seven of us ate her just over a month ago. The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed. I would say it was the best risotto I have ever had! Staff and service was excellent. Can't wait to go again.

We have been to the restaurant 4 times over the last few years and have always had excellent food and service. For us it is the first place we book when we visit Cheltenham.

Ate here last night, food was excellent, I had the beef stroganoff and my wife had the carbonara, both excellent, try the tiramisu it was fantastic!!

Fabulous dinner. Delicious food, excellent wine and first class service. We shared a starter and had a pasta and a chicken main course, both of which were outstanding. Portions were perfect and the accompanying salad first rate. We loved it

Came here last night with my coworkers. The staff were very patient even as we changed and messed up our order several times. We all loved the garlic bread, and I only wish that the goat's cheese and mushroom dish was bigger! The nibbles and starters are on the expensive side but it's well worth it for the quality of the dishes.

Lovely food and nice cosy little restaurant. Very relaxed atmosphere and ideal for a leisurely evening meal. We were visiting and this place was recommended by high ratings and if you are looking for a beautiful Italian then this is the ideal place. The chocolate brownie is amazing!! The menu also states that they have gluten free pasta available so that is worthwhile if you need to know!

Another brilliant meal at this restaurant during our stay in Cheltenham. Food was lovely as always, and you can tell the chef takes pride in what he sends out. The only down side was being charged £10.95 😡😡 for 620ml bottle of peroni I'm glad I only had the one. That's the most I've ever been charged for a peroni and if I had been told how much it was I wouldn't have had it . Tesco and asda three bottles of peroni for £6 !!! Just be warned ⚠️ 🤣

Visited on Mother’s Day and we were all very impressed. The food was 5 star on every level and so was the service. I would highly recommend and will go back the next time I visit Cheltenham.

I strongly recommend Primavera Ristorante as we had a fabulous experience. This small restaurant is family run and authentic. The food is superb, it reminded me of traditional, homemade cuisine. The service is warm, friendly attentive, efficient and I can go on.. Although it was very busy they made time to talk to us, we ended up having a few interesting chats. One of the chats was about a famous actress that we spotted in the restaurant sitting next to us. If you are in Cheltenham this is the place to have a delicious, authentic meal, where you will be warmly welcomed and who knows you might be dinning next to a famous person

Following the Tripadvisor ratings, we booked into this restaurant and we were certainly not disappointed. Smart & clean in appearance, with a very friendly welcome from the Chef/Patron, we were the first to arrive for lunch at 12;20 and we were soon followed by other diners, making a great atmosphere. We chose a la carte and had 3 courses, both my Wife & I opting for Fish based mains, Linguine Marinara for my Wife and my choice was Fish Saffron Risotto. Both were delicious and with the Wine menu being varied and conservative in price too ! Emotivo - Montepulciano D'Abruzzo - Yum! I would definitely recommend Primavera Ristorante as a very good value for the money, which was mid-range, with an excellent fixed menu option to. We will definitely be returning.

The Queens Hotel reception recommended. We arrived just before 2pm, warmly received and given a good table. Food and service excellent. I had seafood linguini slightly hotter plenty of seafood and perfect linguini spicy as per my request. Gill had mushroom risotto. Best linguini I have had with plate left empty. Gill loved the Risotto. We had bottle of house white which suited the meals. Restuarant not a chain so had character and team knowledgeable about the food and wine.

Food and service was amazing. Nice to go somewhere with a table cloth. Small, busy restaurant (must book) ...only 4 stars as something missing with decor/ambience to make 5 star...maybe a bit too bland, hard and bright?

Lovely food but attitude of host spoilt it. We felt unwelcome from the moment we stepped in. Told that we had to ‘hurry and get our food order in as kitchen closing’ although we were in and sat down at 9.10 and last orders was 10. Explicitly Asked for garlic bread as starter to come first but had not got half way through it before they brought main course. Again we were hurried, asked if we were finished although my clearly I had half a plate of pasta stil left and my spoon and fork not closed. Did not ask for the bill, were given it. A very negative dining experience made worse by the cold unfriendly service. I did contact the restaurant direct to feedback but got a statutory reply that they would investigate it. Obviously they never bothered contacting me after that. They had automatically put 12.5 percent service in our bill. Usually I am happy to pay. But this was unwarranted and a cheek but I felt so harassed to get out we paid it. Will never go back again nor recommend the place. I can get nice food and nice service elsewhere

Six of us went to Primavera for my father's 80th birthday in the first week of January. Before the meal, I popped into the restaurant to check whether it would be OK to drop a birthday cake round to surprise him with, and they very kindly obliged. On the day, we all ate from the 2-course/3-course lunch menu, which was very well-priced and full of choices. Usually, when there's a lunch deal, the choices are limited, but not the case here. I had the crispy whitebait to start and the Chicken Milanese with a side of chips for main, and both courses were delicious. My 6-year-old niece loved her pasta and pizza, and my parents, sister and brother-in-law all loved their food. No crumbs were left! The lovely waitress brought out the birthday cake with the candles and sparklers lit, which was a great surprise for my dad, and then we had some delicious coffee to finish. The meal went perfectly: the service was outstanding: the staff were so helpful, warm and friendly, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely and cosy. Would highly recommend Primavera if you're planning a birthday meal!

Never been to this restaurant and not to an Italian for an awful long time but was invited to join friends for a birthday meal and from the moment we arrived the staff were very attentive despite the fact it was a Friday night at the peak of Christmas party time. The menu was nice to choose from not over the top but some great Italian dishes and all 4 of us had great meals with the dessert being the best Tiramisu (home made) that I have ever had so thank you to the staff for giving my friend a lovely birthday to remember

This restaurant was full on the first Saturday after Christmas and we can see why! The food, the service and value for money was exceptional. We were a party of 8 people and we all had different dishes. Every one of us could not find fault with our meal, beautifully presented, and tasted wonderful. We can't wait to return.

Went in excited for an authentic Italian cuisine, came out disappointed. Cream in carbonara, liquidy tomato sauce in linguine, and baguette in bread basket with gaping holes.
