I had an A-1 experience—a date my fiancée and I will never forget in a hurry! The staffs were so cordial (Clara is a star). The pianist playing our chosen love song created the perfect romantic atmosphere! Food was extraordinaire.

First visit to The Nook with family.My starter was very bland,I had the chestnut pancake,my main was faultless, my dessert was delicious but unfortunately one element was missing,the cinnamon doughnut,we did raise this with the waiter but by the time it arrived I had finished my dessert which spoilt the course.for me.

We love this restaurant very classy and quiet snd tucked away at the top of a building! Great for breakfast treat and if nice weather recommend outside table - superb views.

We just popped up for cocktails. The service was superb throughout. The cocktails are fabulous (expensive, but good), and the view is lovely.

Rooftop has beautiful views over Imperial gardens. Very good service and relaxing atmosphere. Pork belly is the best, paper thin crispy skin melt in the mouth.

This place should work but it doesn't. Saturday night and most tables were empty but still the bar service is so slow. The bar tenders look like they want to be somewhere, anywhere but there and by the time we got served so did we. What's needed is table service, and some staff who look like they want to be there. I can't see how this restaurant is going to stay open which will be a real shame as it could be fabulous.

I had an afternoon tea with two friends there, the food was great but unfortunately customer service less so. We arrived on time and were told that our table was being cleared, could we please wait by the bar. After 10 minutes of waiting, with noone coming to see us or offering us a drink, it became clear that the "table being cleared" had not been true, and I had to go back to ask what was going on. Eventually we were given drinks on the house, and another 5 minutes later taken to our table. I understand that mistakes happen, but when they do, I expect a place that advertises itself as an elevated experience to treat its guests with more care than what we experienced. We felt invisible until I complained. When we did get to our table, it took a while to get our hot drinks and food - around 45 minutes from the time we had booked. Once past that terrible start, the service was ok. It took a while to get our orders in, and we also had to wait a while to pay. But when the cream and jam were forgotten, they were brought to us immediately. In terms of food was great, it was the best afternoon tea I've had in Cheltenham so far. The scones (two each) were big and crumbly as you would expect. The little cakes (choux bun with cream, mini carrot cake) were nice, especially the gateau - which looked like it had gelatine in it, but was in fact vegetarian, a plus! There was also a rhubarb posset which was delicate and pleasant. The sandwiches were nothing special, but just fine. The tea and coffee both really good.

Sorry to say, but this experience was chaotic today. After waiting 20 minutes for a pot of tea I then waited 45 minutes for the wrong food to be brought to the table twice and eventually served a salad in a cardboard box, even though i asked for eat in, and the box contains nothing but a huge potato salad and some limp green leaves with no dressing. That is not a salad box. When i asked about possibly a tomato salad i was brought a cut up tomato. Really very chaotic. Maybe try to do a few less things a bit better rather than spread the options so wide.

A special treat for my wifes birthday a table for five was booked for afternoon tea. This is the first time we have been here and it wont be the last. In a word it was delightful, wonderful decor, attentive staff who cared about service, food excellent, toilets clean and tidy as well. Lovely ambiance for afternoon tea and atmosphere was just right to chat and celebrate my wifes birthday. Well done to all the staff ....we will be back. And pricing was reasonable for what you were getting, a top class experience dining out.

Ridiculously expensive with small portions and security guards patrols inside which are very intimidating when your eating. Please save your money and go elsewhere

Just had an amazing afternoon tea here with 10 friends to celebrate my 60th birthday. We were blown away by the food. Several guests commented that it was the best they had ever had. The whole experience was a good one from booking & communication with the team who were very organised, to the restaurant waiting staff and the quality and presentation of the food. It was all excellent. I'm looking forward to bringing my better half for supper in the very near future!

Came here for an afternoon tea treat. Restaurant its self has a great atmosphere, lovely views and beautifully decorated. The service was unfortunately slow but when there was a problem with the food it was quickly rectified with no argument. Wouldn’t say the afternoon tea is worth the price, the sandwiches were good but the scones were undercooked with raw batter in the middle, the scones weren’t served with enough cream and jam and the cakes were a bit dry. Overall food a bit average but nice experience!

One of the best meals I've ever had, absolutely faultless

Excellent scallops then steak. Lovey pate with a mini loaf and thirdly crab and fish in very buttery sauce. Superb Duoro red and jolly Portuguese waiter. Excellent live background piano. Nearly perfect service but some still learning. Lovely evening though. Will definitely go again.

Came here for my dad’s 60th, wasn’t made to feel special in any sort of way. First round of cocktails took a very long time to come. Ordered 3 steaks. They didn’t have a steak knife in the whole place, just a crappy blunt thing. The steak was of such bad quality you could hardly cut through it. The table was shaking while all 3 of us tried to cut through it. So bad. The meat was terrible and chewy almost choking trying to swallow it, sides were tiny and basic. Told the waiter it wasn’t nice and they did nothing about it. Would never come here again, paid £250 for inedible food.

Came in for a drink on my brothers birthday and wasn’t even greeted with a hello. Waited 25 minutes for my order to be taken (which it never was) and then walked out. There were 2 people at the bar with drinks already and only 10 people sat down eating so it’s not like you were overly busy. Will not be visiting again.

I love visiting The Nook on Five and always try to pop in whenever I can. The food is amazing, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Our Sunday dinner was beyond expectation. Whether it's your birthday, a business lunch, or if you just fancy a great breakfast, The Nook on Five is the perfect spot. While the dessert selection could have more choices, we always enjoy every visit. I highly recommend coming here if you appreciate a luxurious atmosphere.

Not sure what happened to this place. Had been a few times and had brilliant food but came recently and everything had gone down hill! Food took 1.5 hours to arrive (blamed on a big group that had finished and left half an hour before...) the food itself was dreadful. It was poorly cooked but also the food quality was noticeably lower. The owners seem to be cutting costs and hoping people won't notice. Everyone is noticing.

Average pub grub at michelin star prices. Total rip off, and to add insult to injury the service is incredibly slow and inattentive for the price you're paying. Thank goodness there's a decent view.

Went with my other half for a few cocktails, and was very excited, as I’m a bartender who was interested by the look of their menu (specifically the Aviation, which is a hard drink to find around town). However the drink in question wasn’t made with the traditional recipe (however it was still delicious, all the drinks were). The main problem was the customer service. For a venue that seethes classiness, what we got was disappointing. The bar staff were unexperienced, which is fine as at least they were friendly, however I was asking for some cocktails that weren’t on the menu (it states on their menu that the staff are trained in a wide variety of classics) when a supervisor or manager (I assume) interrupted and very rudely and passive-aggressively told me to order a drink on the menu. Very displeased with their hospitality and customer service, as they didn’t even try to find me a drink, or go any sort of extra mile to make us feel welcome. Thoroughly disappointed, and for the price of their drinks unacceptable. Next time I’ll make the drinks myself at home.

WOW, I mean WOOOOOW! We came here for a dry run for our son & his future wife's celebration meal. The food was outstanding and the level of service was out of this world. We thought it was that good, we tried brunch on the Sunday Morning and it was as amazing! Food, staff, atmosphere and wine all outstanding! Everything was perfect, all I can say is, you can't improve on perfection. Well done and see you in July!

We went as a large group for afternoon tea. Prior to our booking, communication had been great On arrival we had a nice table altogether. However it was clear staff were stretched. We had no tea cups for our afternoon tea, & had to ask for them when the teapot itself was brought out! Neither did we have teaspoons, sugar etc. Similarly when we had our cakestand, we did not have any small spoons to eat the dessert. Had hoped due to the cost of the afternoon tea & as we were a group, for a bit better if honest. Lovely views of Cheltenham & beyond from the restaurant !!

Poor service staff and management. Not got a clue what they're doing when it comes to Virgin Experience vouchers. The first waitress didn't even ask me for my name or booking reference when we arrived she just sat us down and gave us menus. Several members of staff asked us for our order and I had to try and explain it was a pre booked voucher of a set menu that was supposed to be served straight away. Even the manager didn't have a clue. We had to wait about 45 minutes for our afternoon tea. To top it off, I then got charged for our extra drinks when they should have been on the house for receiving poor service! Including a £5 bottle of water!! When I asked if I wanted water for the table I was not aware it would cost me £5! What a rip off! AND the manager tried to blame me for the whole situation! Telling me that I thought it was "something different". But she wasn't even able to tell me how it actually worked because she did not have a clue! The info is clearly stated on the virgin experience voucher. Don't know why they are partnered with virgin experience... Will not ever be going back which is a shame because the restaurant itself is lovely.

We booked for breakfast online purchasing a voucher which included a fry up, drinks and pastries explaining we were visiting for my birthday. We called prior to arrival to confirm we were running 5 minutes late and they said they had no booking for us. After a long conversation they confirmed a table would be available a little later (around 1 hour) so we waited and made our way there then. On arrival there was no reservation we were instructed to go to the bar area which had no available seats to wait, while they seated another group of customers. After waiting at the bar for around 15 minutes we were shoved in a corner. Noone offered to take our jackets and they proceeded to ignore us seated here for a further 15 minutes, when we eventually got someone's attention we requested some water and confirmed the details of the voucher we had paid for online which they said was not available. The lady went to speak to someone after we pressed that this is what we had purchased, and around 15 minutes later confirmed it would be fine and they would honour what we had paid for. Still no water had come to the table. We reminded them of this and ordered coffees and cooked breakfasts. Immediately after she left the manager came over and apologised for the mix up. Then our hour and 15 minute wait for a cooked breakfast commenced. We tried to get the attention of staff a few times to order more drinks as they attentively filled glasses for other customers that had purchased bottles of wine or champagne with breakfast with no success. We were brought no pastries despite the manager assuring us that there were a small number that had been made that morning which would enable them to honour the voucher we had purchased. I raised on at least two occasions that I was unhappy with the service and had no apology or resolution offered. When the food eventually arrived we ate it quickly, although it was not great, some areas overcooked (meat) and some undercooked (vegetarian sausages and eggs) and swiftly made our way to leave. We confirmed we were going and recieved the swiftest service experienced during our visit when presented with the bill, which charged us for our drinks which should have been included in the voucher, a top up for the fry up, which was included in our voucher and a tip! We explained the situation again - it now being the third or fourth time we discussed this and were then presented with another bill for just the drinks. We explained again they were included, and when pressed paid the additional money for the drinks so we could leave. As we departed the host asked how we enjoyed our visit. To note this is the first time we were asked. I explained that it was the worst birthday I could have had, not only was the reservation delayed, the service was awful, food was bad and we were completely ignored. It was really disappointing after having an enjoyable time here previously when visiting with my dad and I can't help but question whether they judged us as unworthy of service because we were two women in comfy clothes. The host offered us a glass of prosecco at this stage and we explained we were already going to miss the first race for the day as a result of the awful experience here after which she said we could take it to go and we explained it was far too late and we were far too delayed. I understand that this was race week however the service is unacceptable, particularly given that those that were ready for departing for the races were given preferential treatment. Treating a regular visitor of your restaurant in this manner is appalling, particularly on their birthday. I had waited to post this review anticipating some form of follow up would take place after our discussion with the host on departure but no such follow up has taken place. I highly reccomend avoiding this place at all costs, particularly if you are a gay couple. Regretfully I had also bought an afternoon tea voucher for a friend's birthday for here after previous experiences being enjoyable and must now battle to exchange this for somewhere else.

Took my Mum for a birthday lunch out today. It was our first time visiting. We both absolutely loved it. The food was amazing and really well presented. The service was brilliant, our waiter was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We ate from the lunch menu which was really reasonable. The restaurant itself is in a great location with fantastic views. I have already booked to go again. Would 100% recommend.

If you are reading this Nook mgmt, lose the miserable, unnecessary and financially negative bloke on the door downstairs. Punters do not want to be spoken to like this or questioned to what their plans are. I had already rang to ask if we could go to the restaurant for a drink. Of course. The guard dog on the door asked me repeatedly what I was doing and I could have walked away and thought sod it. I explained and walked to the lift to go upstairs. Others were in a gloomy bar area on the ground floor. The restaurant and bar area have nice views across Cheltenham. The lighting too bright and table and chairs are cheap looking, grim, too close to each other and not attractive. The bar area is fine, cocktail list good. Prices are as to be expected. Ambiance of the place at 8.30pm on a Friday evening was dire, cheesy piano player from a naff hotel style didn't add any value. And basically a classic...nah, won't be back. Mgmt of the Nook need a rethink as its not an attractive option no matter what they think.

We had come from Essex with family for a birthday celebration with our daughter and her boys who live in Cheltenham we were a party of nine we were received by polite security directed to elevator then a very professional lady directed us to our table the food was average nicely cooked the wine and food was expensive the staff did their job we were given a card to write our choice of music promised a pen which not materialise the atmosphere was pleasant although we enjoyed the evening it is not a place I would recommend I have been to several other restaurants during previous visits if you are charging London prices you need to give better portions of food and reduce by £10 for a bottle of wine

This was my second visit to Nook the first time being about a year or so ago. The food is good but poor value, the staff were helpful and the venue is great. For the price I’d expect more from the food, the desert menu was uninspiring and would have benefitted from not altering the classics.

Nice drinks, friendly staff, good looking venue. Came here around lunchtime for a few drinks with a couple of mates. Sat at the bar and got chatting with the bartender. She was happy to make drinks that were off menu, still made with great attention. Also let us look closer at some gin bottles on the shelf. Just a generally friendly person and nice place to be. Definitely happy to come back next time I'm in Cheltenham.

Service was exceptional, atmosphere nice. My husband and I used to go here often as the meat was always exceptional, so we decided to bring friends here for race week. Unfortunately the meat wasn’t a patch on previous occasions; the pork starter in particular was sub-par, and my husband ordered the poussin but it was actually a half chicken. Real shame.

Worst steak i have ever had. A table of 5 ordered steak and it was £38 each. Two were edible and the rest was grizzle and chewy, it came with a small handful chips. Complete rip off. Manager didnt want to accept there was issue with the food.

Third time lucky… NOT in this case. First time was nice, few drinks although our booking got last and we were told to go downstairs. Eventually called up and no neck oil upstairs, so told to go downstairs and order one.. Second visit, can we have a table, we’re quite busy tonight, ok so anyway found us a table in the empty restaurant where three, maximum four other tables joined all night. Food was overpriced for quality, drinks were good, although considering the amount of staff on I could have made them myself twice over. On this visit we were given gold envelopes to re visit before 6th February. Third visit, Saturday just gone, attempted to call 3 times to make a booking that week and ask the Ts & Cs of using the vouchers. No calls back from any of the people I spoke to so we decided to rock up, again to an empty restaurant and a few people upstairs at the bar. Then told we couldn’t have a drink at the bar for an hour and should go downstairs. We then asked for a table to eat, again told they are fully booked and couldn’t fit us in. So we went down for a few cocktails and witnessed maybe 30 people head upstairs and after being told we’d be collected when there was room, low and behold nobody did and we were left downstairs forgotten about. We then came to pay and presented our vouchers which nobody had a clue about but after checking they were honoured and we left after spending a good few hundred on drinks downstairs. Overall this is probably the worst hospitality I’ve experienced in not just Cheltenham but possibly the UK. It seems poorly run, over staffed and like zero training has been completed and those I have come into contact with have been rude and dismissive. No manager has been around either of the three times I’ve tried it here, hence we will not be back and will advise friends and locals we know to avoid as there are much better establishments to have an enjoyable evening. So much potential to be the best, unfortunately it barely scrapes the bottom of the barrel for us.

My husband and I had a delightful lunch at this restaurant. The ambiance was lovely, the cuisine was exceptional and delectable, and the pricing was reasonable. The waiter, Chichi, provided excellent service and attentively catered to our needs. I highly recommend this place.

Can't comment on the food - we arrived for a birthday meal and were disappointed on the lack of choice. The restaurant was quiet and we were asked 3 times within approx 5 minutes what drinks we wanted. We were deciding on food and then would choose a bottle of wine to suit. There was nothing on the very limited menu that we wanted to eat so unfortunately we left.

We visited for my partner's birthday and were blown away. We don't normally do posh meals out so this was an exceptional treat for us. Upon arrival we were greeted at the exit to the lift and our coats were taken before we got to choose where we sat. It was a quiet night so we were worried that it might have all gone too quickly but they were brilliant at timing everything so we didn't feel like things were rushed. The food itself was impeccable, everything was cooked to perfection and they made everything in house which made it all even better because it was so fresh. While it is expensive we felt it was worth it and both left feeling that this was one of the best meals we've ever had. The atmosphere was also really lovely, while it is a posh restaurant it didn't feel pretentious and just generally felt very relaxed. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

I never posted a review previously. As I thought I would give The Nook the benefit of the doubt. Take a look at the picture. Thats how my roast dinner arrived. Just don't bother coming here for food. Two consecutive roast dinners over a course of six months vey poor. Waited 1 hour for dry over cooked roast chicken breast out of a chicken breast packet cut in two with one parsnip and one carrot. Gravy taste like Bisto gravy granules. Cold plate. Mineral bottle water placed on our table before we where seated or even ordered our drinks. Very poor unacceptable quality food produce for the establishment. Worst Roast dinner Ive ever had. Unfortunately would never come back.

For a high market establishment, the food was a disappointment to say the least. Meals were over powered by different spices and tastes ruining the meal. A more simplified version would have improved the whole meal. Especially the ox cheek, which overpriced and dry. Service was fine however there was limited communication from the staff. Overall the experience was poor.

I had a dinner here on Thursday night and I really loved the whole experience. The location was beautiful, the atmosphere fantastic. We had great food freshly made, and lovely cocktails prepared by Dan. Marian looked after our table and he made the whole experience even better with his attentive approach.

Great place, great food, amazing staff! Stunning views!

Considering the standard and cost of the food the environment was noisy and felt like a public thorough fare. There was a constant stream of people from the lift to the bar making the noise volumes high. Service was much lower than previous visits here, it felt like you were a number being rushed through rather than an positive experience for you.. Wine prices have been hiked up… in December the Sancerre was £32 and tonight it was £54…. The experience was disappointing. We won’t rush back there. As a positive, the main meals we good.

Loved it. Picked a perfect evening and dined just as the sun was setting. Everything in its right place.

Beautiful Bars and roof top seating. Be great for a wedding reception.

Not sure whether to recommend a visit for the food or the view. The view is certainly excellent and the food OK. A great place to sit on the terrace on a warm day or evening when we next get one.

Visited the Nook for a surprise Birthday Dinner and couldn’t really fault it. The food was lovely, service was very attentive, atmosphere was great with live pianist playing. I’ve visited for drinks in the past but never had dinner and I’m glad I did, it made for a great evening.

We went for lunch. It was a very nice setting and the food was great. It wasn't particular busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff, however the time from placing our drinks order (nothing fancy) to receiving them was, shall we say, a very long time. The staff serving us had to check some simple questions (like, what's the cake?). And only one member of staff was bringing our our food and had to do a number of shuttle runs to the kitchen - so again way too long between first dish out and last dish out for our mains. Overall an lovely experience, but given everything else about the set-up the service has room to improve!

Well, we were the only people today in the whole restaurant (Sunday 11am) eating breakfast, so although there was no atmosphere as such, it was really lovely. Beautiful setting on 5th floor with panoramic views, and lovely furniture, decor and table wear. Food and coffee was nice. Service was very friendly. Would be a great place for dinner and drinks. A terrace too for warmer days.

Won’t be back, I can’t see this place lasting long, they try and act very pretentious without giving the service and quality to mach, walked out yesterday terrible and no atmosphere.

Absolutely beautiful location/view and our waitress Serena was lovely. However the food was a real disappointment. Considering the attention to detail in the menu, the food was well presented but bland. I had cold heritage tomatoes to start with mozzarella balls which were tasteless. My main arrived in a gloopy red soup with what tasted like pickled mussels and sadly just ended up all night with a poorly stomach. My partner described his meal as "edible" Really expensive for what was a very mediocre experience. Won't be back sadly.

I loved it, went for my sisters birthday. The ambience, the service, the food….all excellent. Just nice to take in the views, eat good food and loved the piano playing in the background. Thank you 🙏

An elegant 5th floor restaurant with bar, terrace and cocktails. Sophisticated dinning, happy Efficient service and well presented tasty food gained by a lift on the ground floor bar off the park. The lower bar suffers a little from everyone wants upstairs and service there is polite but brisk, demanding paying for drinks before you get them, something l hate. Upstairs a different mood, the food l tried was very good, portions so so, considering cost...but very good on quality. The WiFi needs improving a bit weak. But the new boy on the block is wort a visit

We walked in soon after ten and were greeted by two waiting staff who didn't appear to know what they were doing. After establishing we were "allowed" to walk in, we were "allowed" to choose a table. It was all very uncomfortable and after sitting down and looking at the menu, to see a "discretionary service charge" was included, we decided to leave, since the service was so appalling from the outset. There's a litany of other things to mention from our five minutes there, but I can't be bothered to list them. There was no atmosphere, it was empty. We didn't stay long enough to try the food - you have to hope it's better than the service or the "Nook" won't be open long.

Disappointing . Underwhelming, expensive Food was mediocre, Wine was too expensive We won't be returning. Cheltenham has many good restaurants . This one in my opinion is not one of them .

We had our wedding here! First ever wedding at The Nook and we can’t recommend them highly enough! Sam and Dan ensured everything went smoothly and the food- wow. *chef’s kiss* Alisha’s attention to detail and flavours was beautiful. Our guests were raving (and still do) about how delicious the food was. Of course, the view itself was stunning which made the perfect backdrop as the sun was setting in the evening. I couldn’t have asked for more and the whole event turned out even better than I imagined. We want to thank the whole staffing team- Sam, Dan, Alisha, Rodrigo and everyone who made the evening a success. We had a truly memorable evening. Thank you!

Can not recommend these guys enough, lovely friendly staff, stunning décor, awesome views and of course the food utterly superb, will definitely be returning.
