I only stopped by for a little snack on the way to the train station. The toast was great. The place looked clean and tidy, staff helpful and friendly. I asked which was George Michael's favourite table and was shown where George liked to sit and eat and also where George liked to sit in the summer months. Definitely will visit again if I'm in the area again. I was given an edition of the Goring Gap News from 2023 by the gentleman who served me which had birthday commemorations for George's 60th birthday for which I was very happy to receive, thank you.
We had a great time ,10 of us , Rugby was on and it was such a lovely atmosphere, food was delicious served promptly and piping hot , couldn't fault the food and the prices , we were looked after most of the evening by Johnny what a great friendly young man , so helpful super friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had everything, 10 / 10 to Johnny who certainly made the evening complete , none of us had any complaints, we will definitely be returning.
We wanted to book for our daughters birthday but had left if late on a busy Friday night. The team were very accommodating and made space for us. There was a nice atmosphere and nice live music (which is perfect, not too loud). The food and service we had was excellent, 8 of us ate starters, main and pudding and it was really reasonable price wise. I would highly recommend but suggest booking as it gets quite busy. We will be back. The staff and food were excellent.
Last night of our visit to the UK and our friends suggested we go here ( their own favourite ) before we see them again in December. We can easily understand why it's their favourite. From the moment we entered, the place, the atmosphere, the menu, the service, the wine, and, finally, the food were all absolutely superb. It's not often that we miss British pubs and their food offerings, but we'll miss everything about The Highwayman until we're able to to go again. Huge Thanks from us to everyone involved with The Highwayman for a wonderful evening.
Called in for lunch as we were in the area. A really friendly welcome and able to get a decent wine by the glass ⊠not just Pinot and Sauvignon Blanc. Simple pub food done well. I had a sandwich with a side of really good chips. Very generous portion and didnât need to eat for the rest of the day.
Three of us had exceptionally good meals (and beer) with friendly and helpful service. My liver and bacon was a modern take on an old dish but it was most enjoyable and each item (liver, bacon, black pudding and mash) were perfect. We will come again.

Placed an order online and even had a follow up phone call from the store as hadn't selected what sauce to put on the burger that comes in the meal deal. Wheb food arrived there were no chips. Called the store who told me I didn't order chips, despite it being a 'meal deal'and my order confirmation clearly stating "ON CHIPS." Refused to correct the error and were rude
We managed to get a table without a booking . The service was super friendly and atmosphere and decor is lovely . Carvery was fresh and tasty. Pudding was yummy . Will be back !
Revisited Villa Marina for the first time in a long time today and donât know why we havenât been back sooner - it was excellent.
We went there for lunch for which there was a lovely, well-sized menu as well as chefâs specials.
The decor was just right, simple and well lit without being fussy. Traditional linen clad tables and nicely attired, attentive friendly serving staff.
Our delicious food arrived quickly and was beautifully presented.
Definitely on our list to visit again.
We came to the Red Lion for a couple of drinks but loved it so much my family and I ended up eating in the restaurant, which was nothing less than fabulous. Food was cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced.
