Just had the Roast Lamb sharer and it was fabulous, so much food and cooked to perfection. Make sure you give this a go. Thank you Colin, Gary and of course The Chef.
Priory Farm Garden Room Café is a little sanctuary of good food, great people, and wonderful atmosphere.
I came to visit last Friday and had some lunch whilst working remotely.
I ordered the chicken burger and some tater tots - it was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. You can tell the food here is made with quality ingredients and a lot of care. Sitting outside surrounded by the peaceful garden setting was such a treat.
Abi, the manager, is an absolute credit to the place. Warm, friendly, and clearly passionate about what she does, she makes every guest feel genuinely welcome. Her attention to detail and lovely nature really set the tone for the rest of the team.
The service was great too - friendly, relaxed, and just the right balance of attentiveness without ever feeling rushed.
The only small downside was the lack of wi-fi. As someone who often likes to work remotely, it would be such a bonus to have a reliable connection while enjoying a coffee and bite to eat in such a lovely environment - fingers crossed that’s something that might be added in the future.
All in all, it was a genuinely lovely visit. Big thanks to the manager and the team for creating such a welcoming and enjoyable place. Can’t wait to be back!
I know it is popular, but I can’t see the appeal. It is old fashioned in decor, menu choices and crockery and is very much a school canteen experience. The hot chocolate is watery. Queues were long. Tables are not cleaned, as you’re required to clean your own table and those that don’t are left there dirty. Above all, prices are expensive - £5 for hot drinks, £5 for cakes, £10 for a jacket potato and £16 for a meal.
The the best Chinese takeaway I've had in a long time. The food was 'yummy', absolutely delicious. Tried other places but this one is the best by far in Didcot Quick service I Will definitely be going back.
Recommend!
The staff are friendly and helpful, when customers have finished with drinks and food and leave tables are cleared and washed ready for someone else to use. The fact that the cafe is always busy speaks for itself
They are taking names, numbers, email and DOB. All under the pretext of a phony virus. I have been to other places which said track and trace was voluntary.
Didn't warn us how long it would take to get a couple of bacon rolls to take away, lied about progress when chased, gave up and had to settle for a pastry after 25 minutes.
Avoid
Used to be excellent value but prices have increased hugely, takes longer to deliver than used to, and closes by 9pm on a Friday night. Add to this £3 delivery charge for a 3 minute drive... Used to order a lot but won't any more I'm afraid.
Having visited half a dozen pubs looking for a Saturday night meal without noise, rowdy football fans etc we tried the courtyard at The George. Lovely setting. Quiet and comfortable. A superb spaghetti carbonara and veggie lasagne were perfect and amazing value. All delivered up by a delightful lady from the north east. A perfect evening.
Was looking forward to a club sandwich in The George Bistro. At £12 I was expected something awesome. After an extremely long wait (there was only one other person) it arrived and was a big let down, and to add insult one of the bread slices on the triple decker was burnt black. This shows a lack of care, how difficult was it to re-toast another slice of cheap white bread. A garage sandwhich would have been better
Visited with friends before covid restrictions were lifted. It was still up to 6 outside.
Owners asked a group of 12, known to the pub, to quieten down but didn't care that they were all crammed onto one garden table/bench. The group were practically encouraged to carry on.
I lost a friend to covid. Shame not everyone takes health rules seriously
I decided to try the famous vegan sausage roll for the first time and was seriously disappointed. It wasn't very hot and was stodgy. I went to the toilets and they were filthy. Needless to say, I walked straight back out!
