I can be quite fussy and love good restaurant and I have to say this cafe is top notch. Been here a few times. The food is alway good, it’s clean and the staff are excellent. Such a great place.

I love Boswells for a quick eat-in or takeaway lunch. The jacket potatoes are always good and there is a varied range of fillings.

I took my children there to get a meal before going to the Cornerstone Theatre. The staff were noticeable cheerful and helpful all seem quite young, and the service was excellent. The food was good with a suitable child's menu. My wife said the all day breakfast was good as well. I will certainly go back there when visiting Didcot.

Popped in for breakfast with my daughter. We are both vegetarian and my daughter also has coeliac disease. Lovely vegetarian cooked breakfast, also with gluten free bread for my daughter. They had a full GF menu too which was fantastic. Maybe the vegetarian breakfast could do with a vegetarian sausage?

It was utterly refreshing to not only have a VAST selection of gluten free options available, but to also have the GF menu in clear sight as I was queuing to order. The food, beverages and service were second to none. With a clean, friendly and welcoming enviroment. Boswells is an absolute gem. Where so many places are getting it wrong, Boswells is doing it so right!!

Popped in for breakfast with my husband and adult son. Coffee was fine. Orange juice was bottled Frobishers. Food was cooked to order but less than stellar. English breakfast includes chips for some odd reason. The fried eggs were overcooked with that crispy bottom layer that comes from too high a temperature. Everything else was more or less okay, but not particularly inspiring.

A great quick meal and friendly service when we popped in for lunch last week. Both had panini which was yummy, with freshly made salad dressing. Couldn't fault.

Lots of things can be wrong with a high street cafe and Boswells gets so much of it right. A cooked breakfast was needed on a wet Sunday in October and Boswells was easy to find (and free to park). The standard breakfast menu had a good range of combinations and some changes (hash browns instead of toast) were available without question. When the meals came the quantity was just right. Best of all were the staff. Others have said that they are smiley but more than that, they were attentive and actually knew what they were doing. Although young, they'd had some training and were keen to provide a good service. OK - you're never going to get breakfast made with artisan bread, hand-crafted hash browns and exotic sausages at Boswells. But what they set out to do is what they do well. I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Was on a course for a few days, and this place was handy for that. Have a good selection of usual cafe style food, paninis toasties, teacakes sausage rolls cakes etc Plumped for a brie and bacon panini....charged me £4.75 for this. asked if i wanted the salad that came with it...when it arrived, i had two bits of lambs lettuce and one slice cucumber and the panini was just a warmed doughy uncooked small sorry looking something. Two slices of brie, and two tablespoons of bacon rind hanging off. Dreadful. Not a place to visit unless you just want a drink and cake. Coffee is scalding, asked for more milk to add to it otherwise i'd have been there another hour waiting for it to cool. Their tea is nice though and their staff smiley :0)

Been here several times and found the coffee to be not very strong and lacking in taste, English breakfast uses cheap products and usually pre cooked thus making it dry and luke warm, many other outlets in town to choose from that are better and yes it does seem popular place to eat and drink but personally i cant see why

Found Boswells on the hunt for a full English on Sunday, there are not many places you can get a full English at lunch time in didcot!!! upon arrival the staff were friendly and helpful, very pleasant and seemed happy in their work! However once the food came over our faces sank, beans were cold, eggs were over cooked, toast seemed to be stale, and sausages were terrible not great quality at all. It was truly a disappointment! By this time we were famished, the staff were all very busy so we ate and left. I doubt we will return!

Dropped in today for breakfast and a coffee. The full English was delicious! Perfectly cooked and really really tasty herby sausages! The breakfast just needs some toast to go with it, then it'd get 5 stars from us! The service was very friendly, i think every member of staff said good morning. That makes a big difference!

Well where to start. Visited my friends in Didcot so we went for morning coffee to Boswell as not many places open on Sunday. The queue was enormous but we decided to wait as really felt like coffee. Whilst in the queue observed server dropping cup on the floor and quick reaction of her colleague picking it up and putting back with clean ones-well that's just wrong. We ordered coffee and scone which was OK but the dilemma where to sit was a big one as no one seems to be cleaning tables. We saw a gentleman with bushy beard bringing food out but no table clearing whatsoever. By the way such a nice beard and no cover- very unhygienic. I must say what a disappointment such a nice coffee shop so badly managed. Maybe room for a thought. AP

Asked one of the staff members what time they closed and she said "5 o'clock but you can stay until 5:20" I ordered a large black Americano and a large tea. I also asked for a toasted tea cake and was sternly told, "we're closed for food its drinks only". Total price £4.50. I handed over a £5 note and the server took the money from me and slammed it in the till without giving me any change. I would have put it in the tip pot any way but how extremely rude to presume I would have given a tip for tipping some hot water into a cup with a bag in it and making a black coffee. We sat at our table but felt uncomfortable due to the fact there was a chap up a ladder hanging new posters in the window. Maybe this should be done when there are no customers in the shop? My wife suggested we get some take away cups so we could go outside and when I asked for some I was given two medium sized cups which I poured our large drinks into, which was amazing as, despite us not have drunk any of our large drinks due to the fact they were so hot, as they must have been made in a nuclear reactor because not even Satan himself would've been able to drink them due to their temperature. Won't be back in a hurry, sorry.

visited for a light lunch during the week. Plenty on offer on the menu from full meals to the usual sandwiches and paninis. This is well located in town. The staff were friendly and efficient. This is the place to go for simple and basic meals and there is something for everyone from babies to OAPs. The staff work exceedingly proficiently and the service is commendable. If in Didcot and want a shoppers meal or before a cinema show, give this gold mine a chance. It is clean and has a five star rating although there is only one toilet which is a downer if queues accumulate.

I could say that food is average here, it's mostly heated or quickly made (like fried bacon), they have a lot of choices for sandwiches, salads, sweet bites as well as some hot brunch meals. I found it rather expensive for the quality. It is pretty well located and staff were very friendly. Otherwise, it is just an average place.

Boswell's is no greasy spoon, it is very much a cut above your usual coffee shop / cafe.Had lunch here with my family for the first time. (Have had coffee and yummy cake here before). Great choice and we were served quickly. I had a chicken baguette with added bacon and a very firey piri piri sauce - Phew!! It may be a little more expensvie thypour chains but it is well worth it.

Standard cafe food, service was good. My only gripe was that the woman taking the order couldn't understand what I said and wrote down that I wanted two meals. I'm wasn't that hungry! They need a sign up saying order food here and order drinks here as you have to go to two different points and it's not clear. The table we sat at was wobbly and there was only one toilet so quite a queue.

Asked for a coffee and a cheese toasted sandwich. It was almost thrown onto my table. No napkin and no cutlery. Presentation , horrendous. It cost me just over £5 . I did complain about not having received a napkin. The waitress just pointed them out to me. No apologies , it was my fault, I should have taken one!!! The actual toaster, although i ate it, was like leather. The table had a damp dirty smell!! This town needs a decent coffee shop.

The service in this cafe is very good, although they are not always very quick to tidy up tables when they are vacated. The roasted veg flatbread I had was not very nice but i did not have time to complain. The hot chocolate in here is awful so AVOID! Popped in for a coffee with my daughter. Maybe I have standards that are too high, but I felt their's fell short. The table we sat on was dirty and the seat ripped. With the place being quite quiet I couldn't see a reason for dirty tables. Although I do accept the tear in the seat could have been reccent.Service wasn't very good either. Got the impression we were taking them away from a much more important job by asking to be served. Guess I'll be popping to Tesco for a Costa Coffee next time.

Out and about in Didcot town centre with my daughter, we decided on Boswells for coffee. A popular choice judging by the amount of people already there. Spacious and welcoming with a broad menu. The menu didn't obviously cater for children so I shared an adult portion with my son, but this would be a bonus given the target market. The highchairs and tables, especially the sides/edges, had not had a proper clean for some time by the look/feel of things though. Great that the milkshake was made with fresh banana.

We went into this cafe after going somewhere else for a poor lunch and decided to come here for desert. The chocolate cake was moist and well made if a tad short of strong chocolate flavour, it was a tad too "institutional" for me, it didn't make me go WOW!The coffee was ok, but a little cool. There were 4 staff in th shop but only one serving so a little slow. I would describe it as average and passable no more than that sadlyMy daughter had the Daim (Dime bar) cake, it was again ok but no wow factor

Disappointed booked for my son’s birthday as we have been many times. Ordered drinks only to be told this was an old menu and the lager was no longer available and they hadn’t received the new ones. We ordered the buttermilk chicken which we have each time we go, so disappointed the chicken arrived with a pile of Lettuce just dumped on the top no presentation, no sauce no coleslaw and the chips came a minute or so after and were cold. Charging the same price for less food. Unfortunately this has ruined it for us and we won’t be back.
