Possibly the best Spoons I've visited (and I've been to a few!) beautiful historic building, huge inside with plenty of tables & seating. I was served by Callie who greeted me before i had even reached the bar, she was polite & helpful, I ordered the Tennessee chicken burger and wifey had a cheese burger. The food came out very quickly, good size portions and piping hot, very tasty. Soft drinks were good as well (not the usual watered down stuff you sometimes get) A great lunch for under £20, staff were always busy cleaning & clearing the tables. The manager here certainly runs a tight ship, will definitely be visiting again. A final bonus is the toilets are at ground level! I've spent more on so called gastro pub lunches, and ended up with worse food & service than a Spoons.

We stayed here for one night. Booking arrangements were very straightforward and as we arrived by car I appreciated being sent in advance the postcode for a nearby long stay car park. Overall, the location couldn’t be better. Reception and checking in was problem free. The bedroom was in good condition, with complimentary drinks and biscuits. The one downside was that there was some mould in the bathroom but apart from that there were no other issues. The hotel was well separated from the bar area. The bar itself was large and in excellent condition. Staff were efficient and helpful. Breakfast was the standard Wetherspoons offering.

Great Wetherspoons. Really quick service (yes, I was amazed too). Usual great range of bitters, and as usual well kept. My companion lives in Henley, and was very anti even going in, but once he saw the bill, and tasted the beer, I think he was converted. The pub is a big space with plenty of seating, and a good atmosphere, albeit we visited on a quiet Monday lunchtime.

I recently had the pleasure of being served by Archie at the Catherine Wheel, and I can confidently say it was one of the highlights of my visit. From the moment I approached the bar, Archie greeted me with a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm that instantly set a positive tone for the evening. His knowledge of the beer selection is impressive; he recommended some fantastic local brews that perfectly matched my tastes. It was clear that Archie is passionate about his work and takes great pride in providing the best experience for his customers. Throughout the night, his attention to detail and exceptional service made me feel valued. He effortlessly balanced a busy bar while ensuring that every guest received prompt and friendly service. It’s rare to find such a combination of skill and charm in a bartender. If you’re ever in Henley on Thames, make sure to stop by the Catherine Wheel and ask for Archie. You won’t just enjoy a great beer—you’ll have an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Love this Wetherpoons in Henley, it is just huge and with two seperate bars at either end of the pub due to it's size and also a hotel in the chain too Always find plenty of free seating when visit off peak in a variety of seating zones. The menu is comprehensive with a few meals that are not always available at some of the other pubs in the chain. As always the service is friendly fast & efficient and a huge selection of drinks at great prices. The decor is tasteful with a traditional feel to it and to appreciate this Wetherpoons fully one has to visit, which would recommend.

Staying overnight as we speak. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We have stayed here twice before in room 112 over looking the High Street. The room was lovely and had had a refurb, that was 3 years ago. We didn't request this particular room as it was last minute and had hoped we would have got a room of the same high standard. We have been given a double room overlooking a grotty back yard, cobwebs on the outside windowsill and thick with dust on the inside sill. The carpet had not been hoovered. Bedside tables and phone thick with days old dust. Pillows no protector on them. The worse thing is the bathroom.Inside the toilet bowl is full of stains. Seems the cleaning staff aren't allowed to use bleach.A bit of Ajax cream would have solved it. Round the outside of the toilet bowl full of hard on stains and dust. The sink is grimey and the shaving mirror not been cleaned for weeks. The grout around the tiles at the side of the sink is disgusting. We asked for a change of room. Seems the hotel is full. The receptionist came up to the room and gave it a quick wipe..she did her best. We have been given drinks and breakfast vouchers but that is not the point. Catherine Wheel Management - shame on.you!!!

Went to the catherine wheel on a tuesday afterwork at 5.45pm my partner, myself and a friend went into the catherine wheel to get some cheap vegan food for dinner. My partner knew what he was having so went to get himself a pint (29 years old and had ID with him) whilst I found a table and started to look at the food menu. When my partner arrived at the table and sat down we were instantly aproached by someone that worked there and asked to see all of our IDs, my partner and my friend had their IDs and wallets with them, I however didnt have my purse or a bag with me as I came straight from work. I was immediately told I needed to leave the premises. At 5.45pm. on a tuesday. With only adult company when I hadn't been to the bar, ordered or even intended to order an alcoholic drinks (nor did our friend) and just wanted to some dinner. Flattered that he thought I was young enough to be ID'd and usually prepared for this hover i dont tent to take my passport out when only dining. I really do not understand why this has happened, the guy couldnt give any explaining other than he was "sorry but I needed to leave now." Sat around me were families, teenagers, kids, toddlers and babies, every group you could think of - all of which had at least one pint on the table. As I was walking out there were a group of four, two teenage children and two adults, of course this didnt seem to be an issue for the catherine wheel. I would like to say this was a very poorly thought out one off, but I was also refused entry on another occasion last year when I went to have a meal with my parents, grandparents and brother. This was a friday at about 5pm and I didnt bring my passport as we were just going out for dinner! Where on earth is the logic of this and where is the cut off? Why can a family with teenagers dine and ourchase alcohol, but I can't have a meal with my grandparents or my partner? Surely you either ban anyone underage or none at all? Wetherpoons isnt a club and is as much as a place to eat than just drink? Will I need ID to eat breakfast now?! What if youre a guest of the hotel?? Ridiculous. Food is average/ below average but as expected for microwaved wetherspoons food. good selection of soft and alcoholic drinks if you are looking for that. Spacious outside, but dirty tables and staff that are clearly a bit confused about rules of service, suprisingly clean ladies loos (cant speak for the mens) and the fireplace is a nice addition. But no matter your age, take ID and I wouldnt waste your time if you wanted to dine with anyone underage or without ID.... or maybe you can I guess it depends on how confused the staff are on that day...

With a re-opening date in mind, I wanted to share some thoughts on how Covid has been managed here. I’ve been a regular visitor here for a long time. I want to express that 95% of the time everything comes perfectly and staff are always so polite. I think people are very quick to judge on this app and people only give reviews when things are either very good or very bad. I’m writing this today because I visited just before Christmas and the pub was absolutely heaving. A long queue to get in (which i understand completely but people were barging into eachother and no attempt at social distancing was made). The inside of the pub was not much better. There were far too many people and tables were all within touching distance of eachother. The garden was packed and staff were completely run off their feet, they all looked genuinely exhausted and quite frankly terrified. The wait for drinks was over 40 mins and I overheard people talking about how the screen to take in more orders had reached capacity. Aside from Regatta and festival I have NEVER seen the pub as busy as it was that night. The team were trying their very best but it shouldn’t have got to that in the first place. If you’re reading this management please, capacity should be AT LEAST halved, if the queue gets too long or the bar gets too overwhelmed please turn people away - it really felt as if they were trying to cram in as many people as possible to get profits instead of prioritising safety. I’ve loved this pub for so many years and it’s so sad seeing it in the state it was then. I hope you are all safe and well and I look forward to visiting again when this is all over but for now, I don’t feel safe and change desperately needs to be made.

We used to really like this spoons, thought it was one of the higher end ones. Visited on a Friday night a few weeks ago and we were really disappointed. I ordered a cider and it came with a glass and ice, there was a bit of water in the glass which I assumed was just the ice melting, so I drank the water so it didn't dilute my cider and it tasted really strongly of beer, so clearly the glass hadn't been washed properly or something. Also, when our food came, a lot of our chips were still cold and uncooked. Our table also clearly hadn't been cleaned properly as it still had bits of food on. It didn't look like the special offer menus on the table were being replaced between customers too.

As far as Wetherspoons go, this was one of the better ones we have been in. Large indoor area. Plenty of seating. Cherry on the cake was the massive garden out the back.

Typical Wetherspoons, busy, toilets could be better but the drink prices and choice are second to none. Food is good value, you get what you pay for. Curry night really good. Nice that JDW have reduced beer and food prices since Rishi's VAT reduction, well done Wetherspoons.

We have been in 4 pubs today in the anchor, we had to write down our name and phone number. We had to our temperature taken and they asked us to use the sanitiser provided. All supervised by their staff. I’m not gonna blather on. Arrived at the Catherine wheel. No staff on the door we walked to the bar. We had to ask if we need to leave our name and number. The response was ‘ there is a pad over there just fill it in and post it’ I will not go into another weatherspoons until they start to act responsibly. I’m actually shocked at the flagrant way this business is run.

Visited the Catherine Wheel in Henley in July and was shocked to find social distancing was non existent, groups of youths hugging each other, furniture moved around despite clear signs on tables saying "Please dont move furniture".....definitely a pub to avoid if you have any awareness whatsoever of what is actually going on in the world with coronavirus and you value your health!

Great pub, great atmosphere, really friendly staff and great beer at very reasonable price. Food was good too. We will go back when we next visit Henley for the festival in July. Thank you Wetherspoons, you never disappoint.

We went to this restaurant for the first time because friends told us they offered very good fish and chips on Fridays. The food was really good, crisp chips rather than soggy ones, and good fish. The staff were very helpful. When one lady saw my stick she did all my carrying for me and made the coffee for me from a machine - I hadn't realised I had to do it myself, but she was very willing. The food and drinks were 'on offer' and very good value indeed.

We met friends twice in a couple of days here. We all ordered some small eats fro the menu, which took no time to come. There was a good selection of drinks which suited everyone. The place was nice and warm and we had a good table with descent seating. All in all, It was nice to relax with a drink, some inexpensive food and chat with our friends in a comfortable seat in a friendly atmosphere. Well done Weatherspoons.

The Catherine wheel is an ideal place to visit with family and especially with small children. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food and drink is reasonably priced and there is something for everyone.

The menu is always varied. The food is always good, well cooked and pleasant. Don't expect silver service, just good honest pub food from a well known supplier. Would we go back - yes we would.

It was really busy and there were 7 of us but we put 2 tables together and chose Sunday Brunch. Didn’t have long to wait and food was good and the bill reasonable. No wonder it was so busy.

On the 27/11/24, the lady at the till at 9am left a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service. We took a drink back after getting it as it had no cream. She pulled a face and questioned this instead of apologizing and adding the cream. It took another employee to tell her that she'd heard us asking for the cream for her to actually rectify the situation. As someone who works in customer service I find this entirely unacceptable. All the other staff, however, are fabulous 👌.

I booked a table for eight people in the restaurant two months ago for my 60th birthday next week and have just been cancelled to accommodate a larger party. I booked well in advance because it's difficult to book a table for that number of people at this time of year and it's now too late for me to arrange another booking at a restaurant of my choice. Very disappointing indeed.
