I like this Wetherpoons in Henley. Very central location. it’s very huge in size and for serving that big crowd, they have two seperate bars. This Wetherspoon also a hotel. Always plenty of free seating inside and outside in beer garden at back. Good choice of cask beers at very reasonable prices. The service was friendly & fast.

A nice, big pub with a lovely layout, cozy corners, and comfy chairs. Service was fast, but there were quite a few teenagers hanging out, buying a Coke, and using the Wi-Fi. The hotel rooms are spacious, with very comfortable beds and plenty of tea, coffee, and milk sachets. My only gripe was the lackluster reception staff, who were not at all welcoming!

Went there for lunch today on a trip to see my Mum. I'm from London and usually avoid Witherspoons but this Spoons was a great experience. Had the fish and chips and a nice real ale for around £2 a pint as part of beer festival. I know what I ate was cooked from frozen but bear with me - The fish was prime cod, pearly white flakes, thin, very thin batter and although not exactly chipshop chips ( I am a bit of an affectionado) they were still very enjoyable. What can I say, far beyond expectations

NEGATIVES: 1. The pub seems to double up as a common room for college kids in the afternoon, who occupy much of the seating without ordering anything 2. The hotel reception staff are pretty passive and un-personable 3. the night echoes with the baffled assertive shouts of drunken individuals until about 1:30am. POSITIVES: 1. Our room was actually superb: both spacious and comfortable 2. The bath was a treat - hot water and plenty of towels 3. A lovely big bed with wonderfully soft pillows. OVERALL: Very much lacks the conviviality of the other Wetherspoons Hotels we've used in places like Dereham or Beccles, but still excellent value. Guests would mind things like the loitering students or the noise late on much, much less if the hotel staff were the faintest bit engaging, friendly or welcoming on the desk.

Possibly the best Spoons I've visited (and I've been to a few!) beautiful historic building, huge inside with plenty of tables & seating. I was served by Callie who greeted me before i had even reached the bar, she was polite & helpful, I ordered the Tennessee chicken burger and wifey had a cheese burger. The food came out very quickly, good size portions and piping hot, very tasty. Soft drinks were good as well (not the usual watered down stuff you sometimes get) A great lunch for under £20, staff were always busy cleaning & clearing the tables. The manager here certainly runs a tight ship, will definitely be visiting again. A final bonus is the toilets are at ground level! I've spent more on so called gastro pub lunches, and ended up with worse food & service than a Spoons.

We stayed here for one night. Booking arrangements were very straightforward and as we arrived by car I appreciated being sent in advance the postcode for a nearby long stay car park. Overall, the location couldn’t be better. Reception and checking in was problem free. The bedroom was in good condition, with complimentary drinks and biscuits. The one downside was that there was some mould in the bathroom but apart from that there were no other issues. The hotel was well separated from the bar area. The bar itself was large and in excellent condition. Staff were efficient and helpful. Breakfast was the standard Wetherspoons offering.

I recently had the pleasure of being served by Archie at the Catherine Wheel, and I can confidently say it was one of the highlights of my visit. From the moment I approached the bar, Archie greeted me with a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm that instantly set a positive tone for the evening. His knowledge of the beer selection is impressive; he recommended some fantastic local brews that perfectly matched my tastes. It was clear that Archie is passionate about his work and takes great pride in providing the best experience for his customers. Throughout the night, his attention to detail and exceptional service made me feel valued. He effortlessly balanced a busy bar while ensuring that every guest received prompt and friendly service. It’s rare to find such a combination of skill and charm in a bartender. If you’re ever in Henley on Thames, make sure to stop by the Catherine Wheel and ask for Archie. You won’t just enjoy a great beer—you’ll have an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Staying overnight as we speak. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We have stayed here twice before in room 112 over looking the High Street. The room was lovely and had had a refurb, that was 3 years ago. We didn't request this particular room as it was last minute and had hoped we would have got a room of the same high standard. We have been given a double room overlooking a grotty back yard, cobwebs on the outside windowsill and thick with dust on the inside sill. The carpet had not been hoovered. Bedside tables and phone thick with days old dust. Pillows no protector on them. The worse thing is the bathroom.Inside the toilet bowl is full of stains. Seems the cleaning staff aren't allowed to use bleach.A bit of Ajax cream would have solved it. Round the outside of the toilet bowl full of hard on stains and dust. The sink is grimey and the shaving mirror not been cleaned for weeks. The grout around the tiles at the side of the sink is disgusting. We asked for a change of room. Seems the hotel is full. The receptionist came up to the room and gave it a quick wipe..she did her best. We have been given drinks and breakfast vouchers but that is not the point. Catherine Wheel Management - shame on.you!!!

Went to the catherine wheel on a tuesday afterwork at 5.45pm my partner, myself and a friend went into the catherine wheel to get some cheap vegan food for dinner. My partner knew what he was having so went to get himself a pint (29 years old and had ID with him) whilst I found a table and started to look at the food menu. When my partner arrived at the table and sat down we were instantly aproached by someone that worked there and asked to see all of our IDs, my partner and my friend had their IDs and wallets with them, I however didnt have my purse or a bag with me as I came straight from work. I was immediately told I needed to leave the premises. At 5.45pm. on a tuesday. With only adult company when I hadn't been to the bar, ordered or even intended to order an alcoholic drinks (nor did our friend) and just wanted to some dinner. Flattered that he thought I was young enough to be ID'd and usually prepared for this hover i dont tent to take my passport out when only dining. I really do not understand why this has happened, the guy couldnt give any explaining other than he was "sorry but I needed to leave now." Sat around me were families, teenagers, kids, toddlers and babies, every group you could think of - all of which had at least one pint on the table. As I was walking out there were a group of four, two teenage children and two adults, of course this didnt seem to be an issue for the catherine wheel. I would like to say this was a very poorly thought out one off, but I was also refused entry on another occasion last year when I went to have a meal with my parents, grandparents and brother. This was a friday at about 5pm and I didnt bring my passport as we were just going out for dinner! Where on earth is the logic of this and where is the cut off? Why can a family with teenagers dine and ourchase alcohol, but I can't have a meal with my grandparents or my partner? Surely you either ban anyone underage or none at all? Wetherpoons isnt a club and is as much as a place to eat than just drink? Will I need ID to eat breakfast now?! What if youre a guest of the hotel?? Ridiculous. Food is average/ below average but as expected for microwaved wetherspoons food. good selection of soft and alcoholic drinks if you are looking for that. Spacious outside, but dirty tables and staff that are clearly a bit confused about rules of service, suprisingly clean ladies loos (cant speak for the mens) and the fireplace is a nice addition. But no matter your age, take ID and I wouldnt waste your time if you wanted to dine with anyone underage or without ID.... or maybe you can I guess it depends on how confused the staff are on that day...
