Costa Coffee in South Oxfordshire

Today the 13th of October at the coast coffee shop in Wallingford was absolutely a joke. 20mins waiting for 2 takeaway coffees. Two young girls unable to deal with a busy morning. The Queues were past the door a d people waiting over 20 mins to get there order .

Nice quiet store. Helpful staff.

What's there to say about Costa! Premises never of note, but new staff a great improvement on last year's. Hard working instead of messing about and place looks cleaner.

Great service but sadly forgot to offer sugar when assisting for wheelchair. Narrow and difficult to traverse past second doorway into 'real' seating area. Couldn't get comfortable due to breeze in gangway. Disabled toilet needed stocking and I visited early in the day with only two staff on so I could predict an issue in the next hour. Nice enough but just not very accessible.

Visited during a calm Sunday afternoon and was served by two girls that were adorable and well prepared our drinks. Really appreciated the service and cleanliness of this branch.

We popped in at 5 30 pm 3rd feb to get some information on a new card as my purse had been stolen the previous day. In Wallingford costa Jen was on the counter what a delightful young lady an asset to your business. She gave us all the information we needed she was so welcoming and helpful . There was another young lady on duty didn’t get her name she was very sweet to. We live local so we will be popping back in. There are a lot of coffee shops in Wallingford so I imagine fierce competition so staff like Jen make a difference.

Been using for several years. Staff have always been pleasant and polite. Always find the atmosphere nice and relaxing. Use most Fridays as I share with the local market day.Recommended.

Ordered 2 drinks and they got them both mixed up after waiting 20 mins so my dairy intolerant husband couldn't even drink his after I took it to him Shocking yet again and still filthy

This is the best Costa I've ever been in. Staff are efficient and friendly. The place is spotless to the point that you really notice. I hope it doesn't change because I think the staff who turned it around may have moved on?

Says online and on the shop door that it opens at 8am on a Sunday. It's currently 8.23am and I'm caffeine depleted. 😞

Fairly Cosy for a Costa with the standard Costa coffee. Friendly staff are welcoming. Recommended if you have time to sit down and enjoy a hot beverage.

I visited here a few months ago to meet with a colleague and the place looked like it needed a thorough clean! I visited on a Tuesday and found a completely different place. It was much cleaner and the two young men serving were cheerful & helpful. Saw one carry a lady with a pram’s tray over for her! Overheard a local saying it’s under new management-well it shows! Hope the improvements continue!!

Lovely costa. Friendly and spacious. Clean loo 🚻. Cool. Nice view of market square.

Bank holiday Monday 9am. Windows grubby, floor dirty, toilets dirty, cake display cabinet covered in a film of dust. Latte ok.

Staff are always really helpful & friendly, even when busy. Clean seats & tables; despite some patrons just leaving theirs cups etc on tables when they leave! Not the staff’s problem but they swiftly rectify it. As for the lady who complained about the loud table near her- why is that a fault of costa? All the other local cafes can also have the same issue with people, babies crying, dogs barking etc ; it’s life. If someone is being loud, just ask politely to quieten down a bit.

A very poor latte, more than 50% foam and only just warm. Unfortunately, when I first tasted it, I was too far away to go back and ask for a replacement. Also slow service - simply not enough staff working.

Decent hot chocolate. Didn't linger any longer as a customer at a table opposite seemed to think it totally acceptable to have their phone on hands free and have a very very loud conversation, which I had no choice in hearing.

Filthy. The jugs the plastic milk bags are put in look as if they haven't been cleaned since the place opened. Cupboard doors covered in old splash marks. Serving area floor dirty. Counter dirty.

Called in at lunchtime, only one member of staff on, so there was a bit of a wait. But the young lady serving was very pleasant and my coffee was good so can't complain. The Wallingford branch of Costa goes through ups and downs but it seems to be good at the moment. A lot nicer than some of the other branches I've been to.

Always a fantastic experience at this Costa - Staff are friendly, helpful & professional & drinks are 5*. Thank you to an amazing Team. We’ll be back again soon 😃

Had a lovely Costa Coffee at Wallingford Costa set in the beautiful marketplace of the historic town of Wallingford coffee was absolutely lovely my daughter had orange chocolate with all the trimmings with a sandwich the staff were very pleasant very helpful and service was quick it was more special than usual because it was Christmas Eve there was a duet playing in the marketplace our stop there today felt very festive and Christmassy cheers, Vince

Wonderful team atmosphere, loved the pictures of the staff celebrating, birthdays. So helpful and kind, what a very pleasing team and place to visit.

It is a shame that I'm not allowed to give zero stars for this place because my experience was absolutely appalling and I will never go back again because of that horrendous experience I faced and there are a number of reasons why my experience was so bad and one of these was one of the managers called Milly who was rude and instead of putting customers first whilst serving she decided to boast about how great Lidl was or is since it is safe to assume she shops there on a regular basis and I hate to say it but this is completely unprofessional on her part and I'm surprised that no one has reported her misconduct to head office. Not only that but it is also an insult to anyone who has had a bad experience shopping or even working at Lidl and it is an absolute disgrace that she would boast about her outstanding experiences in Lidl. From this point forward I will refuse to go back to Costa in Wallingford as long as she is there because she is clearly not qualified to work in retail or even engage with the public generally.

Service a bit slow, but friendly staff and nice coffee.

Been coming here for several years now and always a good friendly atmosphere. Iv got to know the staff over time even when they come and go. It's situated in the Market place so always something going on especially Friday which is market day. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience and I enjoy the coffee.

While a chain coffee shop, and there are others in town, the staff here are wonderful and that makes the visit worthwhile, always a warm welcome, and always well organised with an efficient level of service, also open when some of the other coffee shops are not.... They also have seats outside in the main square which is nice on a warm afternoon (or anytime I suppose)! Great for people watching....

When I went, the food was great and I enjoyed cake and a Coke, but if you sit by the door it swings open, especially when its windy, and there is a draft that comes through.

Another fantastic example of a coffee chain! Lovely clean store with helpful, polite staff! Took my 10 month old here yesterday and the staff brought my food and drink over and there was a great place out the back to sit down and it also had childrens books!

Probably the best Costa coffee ☕ house I've had the privilege to visit.. Polite staff clean restaurant and great ambience... I can't judge the complaints on here... But try visiting the henley branch... You won't moan so much then .. The staff at Wallingford keep smiling and make you welcome.... But the big wigs seem to take all the praise... All staff put a shift in and it will pay dividends in the end.. ♥

So, Wallingford in Oxfordshire on a sunny winters day. The farmers market seems to be booming and people seem chirpy and engaging in the cool winter sun. As usual, I take to my local Costa Coffee, which has a outlook directly onto the market square of this wonderful English market town. I’m greeted by not only a smile but also by someone who knows exactly what I usually have, which makes me feel incredibly welcome. In summary, a lovely little Costa, with a nice view of this wonderful town and served by some very pleasant and engaging staff. On a personal note, I’d like to thank the manageress, who has been kind enough to accept the Defense Discount Card for service personnel. It may only be a few pennies off a coffee, but it means a great deal to us that serve or have served our country within the armed services, so thank you from all of us. As my regiment would say...Celer et Audax (Swift and Bold)

Service good, drinks good, food meh

First and last time visiting this particular Costa! Manageress rude and aggressive. Whole place was dirty. Wrong order (twice!!) and then told I had placed the wrong order even though my wife and myself have the exact same thing every time and had a receipt to prove it (which she wasn’t interested in looking at). Shame as it is in such a lovely setting.

Nice location. Standard of drinks variable (milk often 'burnt' and lacking body). Understaffed at busy times. Update: I have no doubt this is the worst Costa franchise in the country. Endless stream of new staff who singularly fail to provide a decent coffee more than 1 in 5 times

It's open late but the coffee and food are terrible

It was Ok... However the service was slow and they looked under pressure and disorganised. We asked for our food that we selected to be heated and we asked for a Belgian chocolate frappucino. They put the ingredients in the blender and turned it on as normal and went to put the food in the toaster. I watched as my frappucino went round for a few seconds until the ice in the blender stopped the blade going round meaning that the contents weren't mixed at all. As the queue got larger they started serving other customers and they forgot about my frappucino until another customer ordered a similar thing. They poured the content into a cup and handed it over, with no spray cream and not realising that it was a lumpy mess with milk running down the edges. As the person I am I knew they were under pressure so I walked out and said thanks! Despite feeling a bit annoyed that I had to wait for a drink that was not blended with huge clumps of ice in that I had to throw away...On a positive note, the food was Ok

It's a Costa. Nothing more. Nothing less. Pretty building overlooking Market square. Upstairs not accessible for people with poor mobility, rickety feel to curved staircase...it is an ancient building though!

Views of the town hall and town square with lots going on. A small Costa with coffee good, but not able to provide hot food as they had no delivery that day. Whatever that means? Popular and good opening times.

Some of the reviews below suggest going to independent coffee shops - i'd be delighted to but at 7:30 on a Monday morning none of them were open. Costa however was.... This is an excellent Costa. The two staff were both really friendly and the coffee was nice

Great if you like queuing for a while.

Nice location, it is a bit small though if you want to sit down at busy times. Very efficient and friendly staff , offers all the normal costs stuff.

Usual good coffee & staff were polite and friendly. Only issue was the state of the toilet, needs a good clean.

Very friendly service and excellent coffee

This is an outstanding Costa, the cafe is always clean and the staff are very well trained. The views over the town square are also quite pleasant, it is also open earlier and later than most other stores in town... so this is a 5* Costs. However there are far better quality cakes and coffees at the independents in town who you should try first.

Visited today 22nd May, had a lively hot latte and a cake. Staa very obliging and shop nice and clean.

Costa do the basics right ...nice environment good coffee and food and friendly people. This one is small outlet but perfectly formed and a lot more space at the back than is at first apparent.

Friendly staff, provides employment opportunities for the local youth and offers the same quality they they offer in all Costa branches. It goes without saying there are several other cafes in the area that offer superior quality but Costa is often open outside of their business hours.
