I recently had the pleasure of ordering from this Chinese takeaway, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. First and foremost, their customer service is top-notch. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating, making the ordering process a breeze. Additionally, I have to rave about their chow mein—it was absolutely delicious! The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the combination of flavors in the dish was simply mouthwatering. It’s clear that the chefs take pride in their craft, as each bite was a delightful experience. If you’re looking for a Chinese takeaway that not only serves up tasty dishes but also provides exceptional customer service, look no further. I’ll definitely be a returning customer!

Terrible takeaway meal . No taste , ribs looked like they had been left in container for a while. Seaweed tasted old … what a waste of money it went in the bin !

Used to be a regular customer but tried everywhere else but these guys have the edge on a good Chinese meal It's well cooked and in fully recyclable containers It pays to ring up in advance otherwise you could have a long wait I observed some customers getting a bit shirty with the staff because they were the stupid ones to expect instant meal in a bag and full credit to the girls they kept their cool and this takeaway gets all the praises and a 10 out of 10 from us for a lovely meal and it was ready as they said it would be when we rang our order through

The best Chinese cook amongst the many in Wallingford and Didcot! Try the Hot Sour Soup, a meal on its own, (but beware, it's the only thing thing on the menu marked with two chillies, for good reason!) Geys crowded and slow, so why not ring through your order before you set out?

My first Chinese takeaway when we moved to Wallingford. The set menus for one are a massive bonus and great value. The food was lovely and I look forward to munching my way through each of the dishes on the menu 😊

Went here a recently and won’t ever be going again! The service has shocking! They let me pay before telling me there’s a 45 minute wait…..1 hour 10minutes later the “food” came out. In fairness it would’ve been quicker if the girl got the name on the order correct. As a result when I got it, it was soggy and cold as it was sat for nearly 15 minutes! Getting someone’s name right so you can hand out orders should be a basic, not for this place. I was so annoyed I couldn’t go back for a refund because the wait made me late for work! The food itself wasn’t great either, maybe because it sat behind the counter for so long.

I'm not racist in any way, but as soon as I heard it was a white English person working in a Chinese, I became immediately suspicious. And my suspicions where proven right when I got there and was charged 90pence more than online menu price and the food was mediocre. If you're buying from Chinese, make sure they are Chinese before purchase.

Used Hong Kong House for years, understandable it's Xmas eve so busy, but after waiting for 90 mins in total of which an hour was in the shop I arrive home with cold chips, cold chicken balls, cold and soft (crispy) chilli beef all of which was probably cooked whilst the chow main and rice was still outstanding to be cooked. super disappointed and il be reluctant to use them again.

Always go to Hong Kong House for our Chinese takeaway. Tonight's food was absolutely awful! Had to wait for over an hour to get the food. When I got it home the egg fried rice was hard and cold, the chicken balls were overcooked and there wasn't enough sweet and sour sauce to cover the food. Had to heat the food in the microwave, which sort of defeats the object of having take away food to be honest. Really poor, and not the usual standard that the I expect from them. The staff seemed more interested in watching the England football match than serving their customers. Will not be returning for quite some time.

Great Chinese takeaway away. We have tried others in the area but this one is by far the best. Seems to have better quality ingredients and has a more authentic feel. We have family in Manchester who insist on having a takeaway from here when they visit as its the best they've had. Having read the bad reviews I feel it's because this place is a bit different and doesn't suit people who like Chinese take aways with bright red, msg filled sweet and sour sauces etc

Rarely write a review but i feel i should warn others. Ordered for the first time tonight, literally every item i ordered was awful, egg fried rice, was just boiled rice with egg in. The chow mein had never seen a pan it was boiled slimy noodles and raw been sprouts. Then to top it off the chicken balls were overcooked rocks, see the picture below for the poor quality of chicken they are serving. Put us off eating the rest. Doesn't even deserve 1 star.

We’ve always been happy with Hong Kong House but felt a little letdown after VAT has been reduced from 20 to 5% but owners are not passing on this reduction. Trying to use local businesses as much as possible but will give those businesses prepared to be fair with their customers.

Had two orders recently, items missed when I ordered on the phone probably due to a young child playing with the tills when i collected, the answer I got wasn't we didn't charge for it. Not a good response when someone is left short of Thier food when you get home. Curry portions are now smaller more expensive and is literally a cup of thick sauce tipped onto pre cooked chicken and onions, BBQ sauce on the ribs is brown water.

Chicken satay had wood splinters in one of them on outside and was way overcooked despite saying on phone please don't over cook them, as I've had hard ones here before, barbecue sauce watery, hard carrots, onions and peas, raw chips, dry mussels, hard prawns, greasy chicken balls!!! I've given this place enough chances, WE WILL NEVER GO THEIR AGAIN. Tried Chinese around corner Monday night and it was Absolutely Beautiful. Trust me !!! It's the Total Truth.

Used this takeaway for the last 3 years and it was a firm favourite. Sadly in the last 6 months the standard of food has dropped greatly, to the point the food was so salty it couldn't be consumed. Also have a habit of supplying the wrong food, on 3 occasions Singapore rice was replaced with noodles with no explanation. Poor.

This used to be our go to Chinese takeaway in Wallingford but recently the food quality has dropped massively. Dishs are bland and meat from prawns to pork is chewy. I ordered ribs in BBQ sauce and the sauce was gloopy and had very little flavour. The staff are always nice and friendly but it appears there has been some change in chef over the last year or they are too busy to take time with the cooking

Decided to get a Hot&Sour soup for medicinal purposes (I have a bad cold). The soup powered through my congestion in minutes. It was about as hot as I could handle. Fried rice wasn't exactly what I expected (egg is fried, rice not so much). Still, it was good food, ready for pickup in 15 minutes and quite tasty.

Saddened to hear that other folks are not too impressed as we are great fans of this take away. The food is always of high quality and we can go as far as saying that we find Hong Kong House to be the best in Wallingford. The menu is adorned with the usual favourites and some really good chef specials as well. Although the location of the take away is right on the cross roads there is ample parking just down the Shillingford road. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the service is quick as well. The only down side I have noticed is that during the very busy periods (Friday nights) you sometimes have trouble getting through on the phone to order. I suppose that this is testament to the popularity of the place. I just go in person and order my food, cross the road and have a pint in the Dolphin pub and then go back to collect. No problem!

Disappointed booked for my son’s birthday as we have been many times. Ordered drinks only to be told this was an old menu and the lager was no longer available and they hadn’t received the new ones. We ordered the buttermilk chicken which we have each time we go, so disappointed the chicken arrived with a pile of Lettuce just dumped on the top no presentation, no sauce no coleslaw and the chips came a minute or so after and were cold. Charging the same price for less food. Unfortunately this has ruined it for us and we won’t be back.

We have always liked the food and service in Harvesters. Always been loyal customers. However, our most recent experience was not great at all. The place was busy, the salad bar was quite empty and the food took a much longer time to arrive which we could excuse as a one-off. But some of the food was not cooked through unfortunately, which believe it or not, again we sort of excused as staff apologised and replaced it. What we cannot overlook however was the menu has changed and unfortunately all the tasty parts of the food have been replaced with hard, tasteless freezer food. Prices have gone up too, which is understandable but they should not have messed with the quality of the food. The chicken, the hash browns were not soft and succulent as before. The nice onion ring was replaced by hard and cold cheese jalapeño rings. Totally different food experience now. We are not going to go back in a hurry, let's just say. Really sad as we did like frequenting it over the last few years.

The pizzas are good, but if you live at RAF Benson, you're screwed. They used to have drivers that could come unto station with a pass, but the last couple of times, they've sent foreign drivers with no valid ID. I can't always pick it up at the gate, and now I have to cancel my order. Sort yourselves out, Dominos!

First time eating here. Food was very tasty and good value for money. Wasn't too busy so didn't have to wait too long for the food. Just a shame the service let it down. The member of staff with blonde hair made no effort to smile or make eye contact at any point, either at the bar or serving food, which made one feel like an inconvenience. Not a very welcoming feeling.

£20 for a walk around a garden and a cream tea - you might think that would be eye-wateringly expensive. And to some degree you are right. This could be a description of the quintessential English experience. And yet, and yet ... even in the depths of winter this garden is exceptional. I began my walk feeling completely out-of-sorts, not uplifted by the well-meaning messages on little boards on the Truth Trail, and yet by the time I had found glorious fields of snowdrops and small glimpses of the tiny wonders that are the early spring crocus, I was well on my way to upliftment. The gardens are an utter enchantment. Everywhere there are signs of great husbandry and quiet wisdom. Simple imagery becomes clever symbolism; from the dark yew hedge hunched over in the centre of the broad expanse of lawn, to the exquisitely espalliered orchards and the order of the herbaceous borders, you are led to the magic of the little girl dancing upon her own reflection in the wide waters, and the child offering wisdom in the formality of the Silent Space. Even in the Walled Garden, the National Collection of Saxifrage blew me away - utterly stunning in both its setting and design. I came away utterly bowled over by the beauty of the gardens, happy to have spent the money. The lovely little cafe in the portacabin was delightful, and the cream tea delicious. I shudder to think what the queues and the wasps are like in summer, though. I will be brave and come back in summer though, because the gardens must be even more magical then. And because I have to see, with my own eyes, the huge swathe of camassia leichtlinii in bloom. And THAT'S something I never thought I would say in a Tripadvisor review! :D
