The Bull Inn in South Oxfordshire

Called in for lunch as we were in the area. A really friendly welcome and able to get a decent wine by the glass … not just Pinot and Sauvignon Blanc. Simple pub food done well. I had a sandwich with a side of really good chips. Very generous portion and didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day.

Very,very limited and overpriced menu. 4 Sunday lunch options,1 veggie (nut roast). Tiny portions at £20 each. Burnt Yorkshire puddings. Literally a scoop of cauliflower cheese, a couple of green beans and carrot sticks. Ham (thinly sliced) chips, 2 eggs (not runny) and burnt underneath £17! So,so disappointed. It was a halfway meet up with my cousins. Ate at our local last night and for the same price everything was perfectly cooked and faultless. Considering the menu here is so small, you’d think they could at least get what they do serve so much better. Diabolical.

Called in today with my wife, sister-in-law, and our dog we were looked after very well another was to much trouble the food was lovely I would highly recommend a visit

Lovely Sunday lunch, no airs and graces, just great pub food. The beef and yorkshire pudding were great, a good variety of vegetables.

Very close to Le Manoir, but a fraction of the cost, this pub serves excellent “pub food” and good ales. Having purchased tickets for the Oktoberfest day, after hearing about it from a friend, we were very impressed at the effort that had been put in, to make it so authentic at The Bull Inn. With a live band playing authentic music, and staff all wearing the traditional regalia associated with Oktoberfest, it was a sight to behold. A huge marquee housed the event, which had plenty of seating. Traditional German beers were available in the marquee, in one litre Stein earthenware 'glasses', as well as wine, and you still had the option for standard pub drinks from the Pub, plus traditional german food cooked on a bbq. What stood out for us was how friendly everyone was. From the owners, to the staff and the very friendly locals. We had a wonderful evening, and even though it's 25 minutes away from us, I think we've found our new 'local'! Congratulations to everyone at The Bull Inn, you really made it a memorable night. Thank you.

Booked this for lunch for 9 of us as the start of a hen weekend Pub is charming and has a lovely outside area. Food and service was amazing, shame I don't live nearer.

What a BEAUTIFUL Inn with fabulous staff who are warm, welcoming and serve a wonderful meal. We attended having wanted to eat out away from our bland and rather non descript hotel (that is another review!) When we arrived, we were greeted by a bubbly member of staff who found us a table and promptly took our drinks orders. We were given a menu - the menu is small but there is a great selection on there. My husband had the ham, egg and chips and I the salmon salad with chips (it was a weekend away so swapped out the healthier new potato's!) The food was served promptly and was absolutely delicious. A wonderful little gem in a beautiful village.

Delicious take away Sunday roast. I love a roast but don't often have the chance to have one. Usually very busy on a Sunday as a full time carer for my husband and 99 year old mum. This was perfect, amazing value and lovely food. Picked up our meals all ready on time and beautifully packed. Nothing was over cooked so meant heating up later resulted in a lovely meal. I blasted the roast potatoes snd yorkshires in my air fryer and gently reheated (safely) the veg and meat. Meant I could do my mum's shopping, get petrol etc. etc. and then sit down with a lovely roast dinner. Much appreciated!

I have eaten in and this week took a takeaway roast dinner home for the family. Can't fault it, Can't cook this at home for the price. Fantastic value for money and everyone can have their preferred meat choice with none of the hassle.

We received a smiling and warm attentive welcome on arrival. The service was wonderful and friendly. Food was exceptional. We had gluten free fish and chips. Probably one of the best fish and chips dinners ever. Other diners food also looked amazing. Really wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will return next time we are in the area. I have been to this lovely little country pub a couple of times in the past week. The first was for drinks and the service was excellent as was the ambience. Its a small pub but lovely on the inside and a perfect setting on a sunny day outside. There is a rear patio that is also good for outdoor dining. I've also been here last weekend for one of the best Sunday pub lunches that I have ever had! The chicken wing starts were amazing and came with a healthy amount of tasty sauce. I had the road lamb which, as the title of this review says, was as good as it gets. I can't think of a better sunday pub lunch - good sized servings, beautifully cooked and served with excellent, friendly service. Well done to all at the Bull Inn - you have created a perfect little pub :)

Would have given it 5 if we'd had choice of full menu but what we did have was just right. Coronation chicken sandwich and bbq Jack fruit stuffed potato. This lovely traditional local is a community pub with a great garden and patio for those sunny, warmer days. Indoors is calm and cosy, with a good range of ales and wine. Friendly staff, easy parking, great village for a wander and plenty community events. Pizza night and karaoke nights, too. Apparently, Sunday lunch is a must book event!

Lovely village pub, small but that's what gives it a cozy cottage character. People are very friendly and food is great. Very good selection of beers, quite a few local ales. There is a nice back garden area to sit and enjoy the sun!!!

What a wonderful and welcoming place to eat. We wanted a simple lunch and took a chance on The Bull even though we couldn't find their menu on-line. We were welcomed from the moment we walked in and although most of the tables had been pre-booked a lovely table was found for us. I had the Thursday special which were Wild Boar sausages. These were gloriously spicy and served with a nice salsa that cooled the palate and the most delicious chips that I have ever tasted. My husband had the burger which he really enjoyed. This is a marvelous community pub and I highly recommend it.

Visited as a family for a weekend lunch, we were all very impressed by the quality of the food and the friendly service. Lots of hand sanitiser available, one way system explained on entry, tables spaced well apart and the waiter was seen washing his hands frequently. We had a groupon voucher but will definitely be returning as even at full price the food would be very good value. Good selection of drinks including local ales which were also reasonably priced. Fuimos a almorzar en nuestro aniversario y tengo que decir que la comida fue excelente, el servicio excelente y se sintió muy seguro. Nos ofrecieron una mesa adentro, pero decidimos que ya que era un hermoso día soleado para sentarnos afuera en la nueva área del patio. Las mesas se colocaron mostrando verde para desinfectar y nuestro camarero usó una máscara, lo que nos hizo sentir muy cómodos al estar en el grupo de edad un poco más vulnerable. Comí langostinos para comenzar y mi esposo el queso feta y las aceitunas y para los platos principales, pastel de pollo y puerros y cordero, seguido de un trío de pequeños helados. La comida estaba perfectamente preparada y sin duda volveremos a probar por la noche. El pub está ubicado en un pueblo pintoresco, perfecto para caminar después del almuerzo.

My husband and I visited her yesterday on a Groupon voucher delayed from earlier in the year. One way system in place with plenty of hand sanitiser available. All the food we had was exceptionally nice with a decent interval between courses which I prefer as I don't like to feel I'm being rushed. Unfortunately I really couldn't manage a desert which was a shame as there were some nice choices but maybe that's a perfect excuse for a return visit. All the staff we had dealings with were extremely pleasant and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.

The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The children's meals were standard fair pub grub. Mine and my partner's meals had to be sent back as the chicken supreme was rubbery, in a watery sauce and my partner's lamb was fat and gristle with a tasteless sauce and something that definitely didn't present as gratin potatoes. Perhaps it was an off-day but we left there hungry... it was a shame as previous reviews had been so complimentary.

Moved to this charming village 5 days ago, family of young adults came to visit and wanted to try the local pub for sunday lunch, a wonderful traditional roast, cooked beautifully with seasonal fresh vegetables, service was outstanding, garden was lovely, everywhere was clean and excellent social distancing procedures in place, oh and very good value, will definitely be going back, would love to see a ploughman’s on the menu, going again this weekend with parents and dog who was also made very welcome last weekend!

Just returned from a wonderful evening dinner with family. The quality of food, drinks and service was superb. Our server, Morgan was extremely pleasant and helpful. My compliments to the chef and staff for an extremely enjoyable evening, so much so that we immediately rebooked. Thanks.

Vinnay certainly hasn't been putting his feet up during lockdown. A new shorter, sharper menu did not disappoint, it was difficult to choose but in the end the chicken supreme with wild mushroom sauce and the lamb with dauphinois potatoes both with perfectly cooked broccoli spears were both delicious. The social distancing was handled well with brief explanations where necessary. The new terrace is a lovely space, I kind of hope that not too many tables are added post social distancing.

Fantastic buffet served up for 20 cyclists of a certain age, hot and cold, we were all properly stuffed and then cheese and biscuits arrived, including a delicious slab of Devon Blue. We will be back!

Arrived to be told that they had no record of my booking. Got seated, took around half an hour to get drinks. 50 mins for our starter which was incomplete. Then informed that they had ran out of steak so had to change order. Main came without the veg and were told it would be a few mins. Plate of broccoli arrived after we had finished our mains. The burger was frozen (if not frozen a very badly cooked) Generally poor and would not recommend until improvement madeIt appeared they were short staffed and the waitress tried but I think she was embarrassed.

Se tacharon numerosos elementos en el menú (sin pizarra), luego nuestro anfitrión explicó que algunas cosas estaban realmente disponibles, pero no todas y cuando pedimos, ¡explicó que algunos elementos solo estaban disponibles en parte! Tardaron unos 50 minutos en llegar nuestra comida, demasiado tiempo sin explicación. 1 comida estuvo bien, pero la ensalada César simplemente no era César. Solo una ensalada con cebolla roja y pimientos, sin crutones, parmesano mínimo. Para ser justos, luego nos preguntaron si todo estaba bien y respondimos "no realmente", así que nos ofrecieron bebidas en la casa a modo de disculpa. Aceptamos café que no fue agradable. Pero este pub necesita poner en orden su casa o no volveremos, lo cual es una pena ya que vivimos bastante cerca.

Lo que es muy notable cuando recién llegamos al restaurante / bar es la bienvenida que recibimos del bar y los camareros (los lugareños también son muy amables). My husband and I had a lovely evening tonight. Pub food was very tasty and the service was great. Nice touch with the candles on the tables. It's a community pub, so great atmosphere with the locals enjoying company and good pub food, drink and snacks. Everyone was really friendly. We will definately return.

The Bull is a community run pub so isn't necessarily open all day every day so check their website for up to date information or phone them. The beers are well kept and great prices and the food is really good. It's all homemade and the chips are some of the best you will find. An excellent place to have lunch.

Wonderful hostess (sorry I forget your name, how rude of me..) who looked after us.We were both delighted with the food. Fresh and well cooked.Only minor issue was the white wine was too warm in the bottle to really enjoy without adding ice, but a very minor point.We will return and recommend.

Lovely quaint village pub. Staff friendly and knowledgeable, brilliant deals on food. We went on £2.99 for any burger night (usual price ~£10), they were amazing and not just because of the price. I’d have been as impressed with food if paid full price. Honestly, I’d move to the village to be close to this gem of a pub!

Hicimos una comida rápida en nuestro aniversario de boda un martes por la noche. Hubo una cálida bienvenida y nos ofrecieron nuestra elección de mesa. Optamos por tener 4 entrantes como platos pequeños para compartir, acompañados de un pedido personalizado de ensalada de col (el chef obedeció a nuestra solicitud), una porción de papas fritas y un poco de salsa chimichurri al lado. Un montón de sabores audaces para platos que obviamente fueron preparados desde cero y todos estaban deliciosos. Nuestro único aspecto negativo fue que la salsa tártara que acompañaba a las tortas de pescado era un poco demasiado ácida. Aparte de eso. . . absolutamente ideal!

Solo nos dejamos tomar una bebida rápida hoy, cuando estábamos pasando. Cuatro cervezas de verdad en borrador: tuve el Shotover Scholar que estaba en muy buenas condiciones. El menú se ve muy extenso, por lo que volveremos en otra ocasión a comer. El pub es bastante pequeño, pero es un precioso edificio de 400 años. Aparcamiento de tamaño decente, para mayor comodidad.

We tried the new Sunday Roast menu and were delighted. We both chose the roast sirloin which I have to say was one of the best I have had in years. Succulent meat, cooked to perfection with crispy Yorkshire Pudding, roasts and a selection of winter vegetables were all delicious. This was followed by an apple crumble for me and a sticky toffee pudding for my wife, both home-cooked and most tasty. Under its new management the pub has become a deservedly popular venue.

We visit The Bull frequently for drinks and/or to eat. This quaint pub is at the heart of the village and feels like a real hub for locals, with plenty in every night of the week. There is a great range of beverages (I hear rumours of a cocktail menu in the making!) and the food is really great - slightly different to your normal pub grub (with the old favourites too!) but home-made, hearty and delicious.

We went back to the Bull on a half price food deal through a local radio station. It's not bad pub grub -- but only value if paying half price! We felt sorry for those people paying the full money! They offer a free glass of Prosecco or a soft drink at weekends -- but that's not much use if you are drinking beer or red wine. Outside the front there was a lot of discarded cigarette ends and litter -- and even a beer bottle chucked in a border. Not a good first impression!

Drove out to the Bull Inn after listening to adds on local radio. Found it easy enough in great Milton, parked up went in nice open fire warm atmosphere.

If you want a traditional local pub with an up to date menu, try The Bull. Food is excellent, great choice of drinks - including local ales - and lovely easy going atmosphere. Highly recommended. Dogs allowed in bar area too.

The new management have turned this around - we were a large party and all loved our food there a couple of weeks ago. Macaroni Cheese and Crayfish was amazing. Food service was very slow - the only downside. Will definitely be back.
