What a wonderful restaurant! We were welcomed as soon as we walked through the door and service was gently attentive throughout. The atmosphere is relaxed and cheerful and the food, exquisite. Well done Socius, you’ve hit the sweet spot at everything!

A total of 5 of us booked for Sunday lunch and were accommodated in a private dining room, which itself was very pleasant. However, of the 3 scotch eggs ordered, only 2 were available. The roast chicken was not available at all. That apart, the most frustrating element concerned the pannacotta desserts. Two were ordered and both were deemed to be of strange taste and texture, and were left largely uneaten. The waitress was told this and she went to confer. When she came back she said that she had tasted them and thought they were fine, and indeed the chef had reportedly told her that that was how they were. 'As an gesture of goodwill' she deducted the cost of 1 from the bill. The bill came to over £250, additionally 2 of our party were staying at the hotel and furthermore an absent family member had bought a bottle of champagne separately for us to enjoy with the meal. All that, and they could only reduce the bill by £9.50! To my mind a more appropriate thing to do would be to have offered an alternative dessert or deducted the cost of both, rather than the waitress just telling us her opinion.

I visited this cafe today for the first time. The staff were very friendly. There was plenty of choices for a lunchtime menu and also reasonably priced for Burnham Market. The drinks we ordered came out fairly swiftly and the food not long behind.Nicely presented and tasty. Its obviously very popular and we will definitely return again soon

What was once a great pub has had the heart and soul removed. Just another production line pub selling OK beer and very boring food. No imagination in the menu at all. Pie and chips, burger and chips, steak and chips etc etc. this in an area where most other pubs put effort into their menus. Shame

The room was clean and fresh. It was a very hot and humid night so we did have a little road noise as we had the windows open but it didn’t bother us. We also made use of the fan provided in the room-lovely comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was really good, the cooked options were delicious and the service was excellent. We had dinner too which was also very good, a slight hiccup with a missing food item but very quickly rectified. Again, staff were attentive and friendly. We look forward to the next time we visit the village and stay again.

Sadly this ‘pub’ operates table service only, so it’s not really a pub is it? The once-lovely traditional bar now houses some outward-facing computer screen ‘tills’ for the staff and provides a surface for the empties to be stored on. Not a great look! When we were there, there was only one member of staff behind the bar preparing drinks for the entire pub and restaurant - what a crazy and frustrating system! All the human connectivity of going to the bar, checking out the beers, maybe having a chat with a stranger - gone. Perhaps this is the only way of operating that generates enough profit to satisfy the owners, but it makes for a very sterile experience. Also, the place is overrun with lockdown dogs and their inexperienced owners.

Popped in the tearoom with my partner, son and dog and had a very nice experience. Sat in the courtyard as we had the dog which was nice on a warm day. The food was good and very reasonably priced. I had the ham and cheese ploughman’s and my partner had the tuna salad, both were really nice. We look forward to returning.

Welcoming, friendly pub. We stayed at 6 Little Wells which was also beautiful. Pub just a few min walk from cottage serving food 6-8pm - menu varies day to day. It is what it is - good honest homecooked food. If you want posh drive a bit down the road to South Creake but pay alot more.

Stopped here to see the abbey ruins. Delighted to be able to have a delicious lunch in the cafe. Plenty of parking, with the abbey ruins just a very short walk away. Extremely well presented and maintained ruins in a very peaceful setting.
