Popped in the tearoom with my partner, son and dog and had a very nice experience. Sat in the courtyard as we had the dog which was nice on a warm day. The food was good and very reasonably priced. I had the ham and cheese ploughman’s and my partner had the tuna salad, both were really nice. We look forward to returning.

Nipped in for breakfast.. the front of the restaurant could do with being spruced up a little. Lovely little spot, friendly staff.. small selection on the breakfast menu.. Shame they don’t offer breads or pastries from the bakery on the same street.. they are missing a trick.. Scrambled eggs would have been so much nicer with Sourdough. Great coffee though.

This sadly was the worst coffee we have had in months (possibly years). When you pay top notch for a coffee it’s not unreasonable to expect it to be half decent. Our flat whites were scalding hot, little to no milk (which was burnt by the excess temperature) and tasting of fag ash. Please take the time to learn how to make a decent cup - it’s not too much to ask given that it’s a business. And the ploughman’s - in this day and age is sliced processed bread really acceptable for a lunch out? You have an artisan bakery only three doors down!

If you want somewhere to indulge in the taste homemade quality, then this tea room is it. My wife, my 5 and 3 year old daughters and I popped in and had an array of sweet and savoury goods (as well as the best flat white I’ve had in months) and wasn’t disappointed. The beef and onion pasty was as good if not better than the ones I had in Cornwall. The croissants were soft and buttery. The cakes… wow. We enjoyed this all whilst sitting on a bench on the green, watching the cars and such pass through the stream which runs through the village including passing across the road! Some very good splashes indeed!

Unwelcoming. We should have got the message when we had to squeeze past a sign blocking the entrance to attempt to order. The man (possibly the owner) seemed put out by our presence and didn’t offer us a menu or a seat. When a kind lady offered to move so we could sit down she was told “we don’t do that here”. A real shame as the younger people working there seemed friendly, but we couldn’t get out of there quick enough.

Definitely would not recommend a coffee from here. The coffee was burnt and the staff do not know how to make a flat white it was over priced. I had one sip and left it. Cakes were ok nothing special. When we complained about the coffee, they had no clue what we were talking about. and didn’t seem to care. Baring in mind it’s a coffee shop it’s very bad they don’t know how to make it! They all need to go on barista training if you ask me.

So disappointed with the experience. Was not allowed in until 09.05 (it was raining and we had a push chair!), they didn’t have a breakfast menu, the two croissants we ordered were woefully dry, £2,30 EACH, and it was another 30p for butter! Terribly cold service too- young lad who served us was very uninterested (maybe not his fault). What makes things worse was there were people inside before we were allowed in with what looked like a full English- where was that on the menu?! No high chairs either, AVOID if you have small children

We stopped here for coffee this morning. The interior is quite basic but comfortable. There were 3 members of staff there and interestingly none were wearing any sort of mask or visor/shield. The coffee was tasty but we ordered two black Americanos, one of the cups arrived three quarters full, the other only half. We asked for a jug of hot water, which arrived promptly, and corrected the volumes ourselves. When we went downstairs to pay sadly the young lady taking payment was more interested in chatting to the other two staff members than talking to us during the transaction, bit disappointing. Whilst we’d recommend the quality of the coffee the customer service needs a little attention.

Went to tea rooms yesterday with friends and had such a nice welcome from the couple who were serving. The service was excellent with good coffee and the best scone I have had in Norfolk this holiday. I have eaten scones at four different places so far and this was by far the best. It had a little, crunchy, caster sugar on top. Yummy! I told the proprietor that his scones rivalled my all time favourites at Perrywood’s in Tiptree. So thank you for an enjoyable snack.

It was grubby round the edges but I didn't really notice as we were chatting so much and the food was basic but nice enough. It's just lucky for them I didn't use the toilet until we left because the state of it was just filthy. Dirty splash marks all over the bin, dust on every surface, filthy floor, sink, literally everything was unclean and there was a thick tide mark of grime round the bottom of the tap and the top which looked like Kim and Aggy would have a field day with. In the corner of the toilet stone a mop head first in a bucket of black water. When I came back from the toilet to collect my stuff and go, I noticed how the window sill next to my seat had bits of food and dust right across it, then I noticed that there was bits and dust in the corners, although nowhere near as gross as the toilet. Wouldn't even bother coming back as I felt sick thinking that the staff wash their hands in that filthy dirty sink and then prepare and serve food.

Visited on Staurday with two friends. Ordered 4 things to eat none of which required cooking, unless you call cheese on toast cooking which I don't. Waited 30 minutes. A different waitress brought the meals, one of which was missing and one had the wrong type of bread from the order. There was no eye contact, no apology just a Paddington stare . My soup never arrived, when I asked a man we assume to be the owner did not apologise for that either but brought me the waitresses notepad to show me that she'd not written it down as if that was a satisfactory explanation. It's not rocket science, it was soup and a pasty. The soup duly arrived which was awful. Watery and tasteless. When we were paying we were confronted by the same sullen waitress, incapable of speech who silently took our payment whilst eyeballing the male waiter and smirking. I was overcharged by 50p without explanation but by this time past caring as I wanted to leave such an awful place. Unecessary hostility for paying customers which is still occurring despite the other reviews which highlight this, what sort of business doesn't pay attention to that? Don't waste your money, go to the pub where the staff aren't extras from the Children of the Corn.

I am interested to read the previous reviews about the coffee. Whilst my bacon sandwich was delicious, my coffee was absolutely tasteless. It was a cappuccino, which as we know in the UK seems to have degenerated into a latte with foam on top, but this had no flavour whatsoever. I asked for it to be remade, but it was still just brown water with foam. At £7.50 for a coffee and bacon roll, I consider this on the expensive side, even for Burnham Market.

As a local to the area, I regularly visit the Burnhams Tearoom and can't fault the place. Having read some of the previous comments, I feel they're quite harsh. The Tearoom serves all food fresh which sometimes can take a few minutes to prepare. It is an excellent quality and price for the area. Some days things do sell out, but the owner does his very best to bake extra items to ensure there is enough for everyone. Summer is a very busy time. If the cafe sells out of scones or pasties in the morning or early afternoon, a fresh batch gets cooked so there is only a short period without some. As a small cafe, there is only so much they can do. The staff are efficient, hardworking and very friendly.

We blundered into this place after finding the TripAdvisor top-rated cafe shut at lunchtime (in August!), and the second-rated cafe impossible to locate from the TripAdvisor map. In retrospect, we should have spent more time looking or upgraded to going to a proper restaurant, as the service was slow, interest in customers was zero, and the decor was poor. The only saving grace for our two Ploughman's platters was that at least they were cheap: we both commented (at the same time) on the tiny, single, pickled onion; the accompanying bread was notably underwhelming too.Avoid

Small, plain bright cafe with 6 or 7 ground floor tables. There is a small menu with light bites, sandwiches, cakes, scones etc.I arrived just before midday and asked for a fruit scone, and told they had just sold the last one. I therefore ordered coffee and Welsh rabbit. The coffee was acceptable, although they only had a large cup, no choice on size, this arrived quickly. There was a wait for the Welsh rabbit of around 15 minutes in spite of the cafe being fairly quiet, by which time I had finished the coffee. The Welsh rabbit looked unattractive, had absolutely no flavour and had a strange sloppy texture. The toast was a thick slice of bread which where not covered by the topping was burnt. It was served with a tiny piece of salad the edges of the lettuce tinged with brown. Unfortunately I was unable to eat more than a couple of mouthfuls.I heard someone on a table nearby complain about her cake, and another table who had ordered a fruit scone, reject the cheese scone with cream they were about to be served. There are several other cafes in Burnham Market and I certainly made an unfortunate choice.

Looking for a nice coffee shop, and stumbled on this disaster of a place@ 1.30Pm Monday 7th August 2017Went in and three tables were empty, but had not been cleared, sat down and waited, there were 2-3 waitresses, and they didn't seem to be in a hurry-either to serve us or clar the tables.Eventually one came, a young bespectacled girl, and we asked for 2 lattes-which proved to be nigh undrinkable, and a cheese scone and a granary sandwich.I was told there was no granary bred, so I went up to the counter and asked to look at the sausage rolls-we don't have any left came the indifferent reply.I returned and asked the waitress if they had any wholemeal bread, and she said I think so.On returning she said one member of staff said we had some, the other said we did not. She looked very vacant at this time.My wife's cheese scone arrived-and it was the size of a petit-four.Meanwhile a newly-sat group of four sat down, waited for the table to be cleared, and left minutes later, as nobody had returned to take their order. This place is shambolic, and the owner either needs to shake the staff-especially the one in charge of supplies, or lack of- or sell up!

We called in for a quick snack. Decor put me more in the mind of a cafe than tea room but you don't eat the decor. Ordered a coffee and tea, also welsh rarebit and a cheese scone. Prices were slightly on the high side but to be expected given it's location. Tea and coffee were acceptable and china cup and saucer for the tea was a nice touch. Daughter says the rarebit was very nice. I'm not so sure the cheese scone had had more than a passing acquaintance with any cheese. Food presentation was basic as was the service.

We stopped here for a cuppa and to feed our little baby. We had tea for three and a coffee and a tea cake. It is nice to get a choice of tea when you stop for a cuppa and this was a welcome offering. All in all, service was good and everything we ordered was of a very satisfactory standard. Staff were friendly too.

We visited today at about 2 pm and entered The Burnham tea room sitting downstairs as the upstairs were out of bounds. The first thing that hit us both was the decor....very plain, very dull and had no "tearoom"feel whatsoever....more like a cafe.We ordered a pot of tea for two,a chicken sandwich and a ham sandwich with mustard. The sandwiches were just under £5 each which was greeted with a slight sharp intake of breath as we ordered however what arrived was nothing short of a joke.My sandwich arrived and it was just that...a sandwich with one piece of lonely ham and a tiny bit of mustard too,no crisps or even a bit of salad, come on,we have always received something with a sandwich whenever we have ordered over the years but to receive this, for the obscene sum of £4.80,was a really sad effort...my wife opened her chicken sandwich which was not much better,a few pieces of chicken and her bread, although doorstep thick, was quite stale which she pointed out to the young gentleman who informed us that bread was delivered fresh daily. Our tea was just about passable, average at best....you are missing a trick here, with a bit of decent decor and a tweak on those prices maybe things would improve but £13 for 2 sandwiches and a pot of tea is not acceptable.Visited April 30th 2017

Stopped here today on a bike ride for coffee and cake and both were great. Double shot latte and carrot cake were just the job and the cake especially was fab and bearing in mind it was in Burnham, I didn't need a 2nd mortgage either.Would definitely visit again and happy to recommend it to anyone else.

Sometimes you just want a proper sandwich that taste's just a bit better than if you made it yourself. They have a lovely sitting area but I must admit I always take away. Always friendly staff.

We visited on 2nd Januray expecting the usual great experience. We sat for 15 mins then a young lady came to take the order. Ordered special..bacon and blue cheese sandwich....actually got bacon and cranberry! Daughter ordered the soup on special but parsnip came instead. They had no salad ingredients left and as I have wheat allergy decided not to eat as only available thing was a biscuit or the soup. Soup arived cold and had to be reheated. We had sat for 40 mins before food came yet no apology was made and the place was certainly not full. The guy who is usually there was not on this day so perhaps the fill in staff were just not experienced enough. Breaks my heart to see this when it is our favourite cafe and we have recommended to so many friends. Do hope the old service is resumed as soon as possible.

I love this café. I frequently pop in for an Earl Grey, chat, bacon sandwich or scone all of which are served with a smile and a "Hello"not mention they are incredibly tasty. The staff are very friendly and they all make you feel at home. The service is very good considering it can get busy very quickly. Lunch time soup is a favourite of mine and as I work in the area their ring through ordering service makes it easy to pick up on the go. Keep up the good work.

Limited menu, but good cakes and scones. I wouldn't rely on it for a full meal. The Assam Tea was very good. Seating was small and a bit cramped, but the sky light offered good light.

We went in one day for a nice meal, me and my fiancé orderd a milkshake, hers was cold and mine was warm. I orderd a panini, and when it arrived, the server dropped it on the table and instead of offering a new one they went "oops" and put it back on the plate. Also the salad is lettuce and tomatoes, thats it

This is a great pub for proper hearty food, and a great selection of drinks. Very very busy place. Staff friendly even though extremely busy Saturday half term in October and it was packed! Booked again for a dinner before we go home again. Negative reviews below not anywhere near the experience we had. Go enjoy it

Absolute waste of time, website says open at midday but was not open on Thursday or Friday, the least they do is change the the web to let people know not to waste time arriving.
