Crown Inn in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

The restaurant is very popular and the staff are welcoming and helpful. However I was disappointed by the food. The Katsu chicken was just a piece of chicken breast covered by a thin layer of crumbs, with a deepfried kale leaf which tasted oily. My dessert was described as saffron poached pear in white chocolate ganache. It turned out to be four thin yellow slices of pear stuck down with a thick gluey sauce... I think this recipe needs altering . I am coming again in a few weeks time so I hope the cooking improves.

Very tasty food. Attentive and speedy service. Nice friendly atmosphere as well. Spacious interior. We will be back soon.

It’s a lovely place, warm welcome and dog friendly. The space is nice, tables not too close together. Great service. We had the steak and also the superfood salad. Everything fresh and delicious.

Booked into The Crown for Bed and Breakfast as was so close to Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall and Sandringham. Lovely old place..spotless relaxing decor with lovely bar,and restaurant and helpful young staff. Wonderful room and so a great nights' sleep and then a fantastic breakfast choice...of course a great Full English...but i had Porridge with Honey and then Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Egg on Brioche Toast....Delicious ! Best place to stay in the area !

Not as advertised! Took my wife for a birthday lunch but sadly despite what it says on the website or on the door they do not serve food until 2.30. Got turned away at 10 past 2. Very disappointed

We have just visited The Crown for Sunday lunch. The lunch was perfect. The staff were very attentive and provided excellent customer service. The Sunday lunch was the best we had had for ages. The roast beef was cooked medium rare how it should be. The roast potatoes were tasty, crunchy with a slight hint of garlic. Well the carrots.....were amazing and the best we have ever tasted. This was an exceptional lunch and we wish we lived closer. Well done The Cown!!

1st time back for a few years. V Disappointing. We have just been for a Sunday Roast. We both ordered the beef. Service was quick and we arrived at 12pm. The pub was not busy. The plate arrived and the rump 9f beef was not rested properly as there was blood bleeding into the gravy....not a small dribble. We both sent our meals back. On their return one plate was cured of bleeding the other not. We were hungry and my husband mopped the blood up with a serviette and ate his. The food was now cold, roast potatoes were like warm, yorkies cold and veg not much better. We complained and were offered a 20% discount which is poor. The roast was £17.95 per head. The supervisor did not deliver the message , they got the waitress to do this, again poor. We left swiftly and will not be back. The waiting staff were nice, so not their fault.

Really good service, we arrived tired and hot after a day at the beach. The kitchen was closed, but they still went beyond, and sorted us with some very nice Danny's Ice Cream. Thank you! Beautiful building too!

Stoped off on our way to the coast to grab a coffee and allow our dogs to stretch their legs and received great service. Dogs made very welcome, given bowl of water without asking ( got served before us!). Food looked so good we had some cheeky chips too. The coffee came with a delicious bit of flapjack. Will be our go to stop whenever coming this way

We had an excellent stay at short notice on Sunday night with our dog. Amazing service , lovely food, and brilliant surroundings, I was really impressed by the excellent standard of service. Thanks especially to Molly and Roger. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and there was a good choice of options. Loved that there was good wine including pudding wine. The bedroom was very comfortable although a little noisy at the front but we did book last minute and had the window open. Our dog was given his own bed and plenty of attention. We really felt that the Crown had got everything right and it was a real joy to stay there. Thanks to the whole team.

Pre booked having had the food recommended to us and it didn't disappoint. All 3 courses were well cooked and nicely presented. The dining area is not separated from the bar area which meant it was rather noisy initially.

Regular visitors to the Crown for a roast dinner we would always receive a superb lunch . Flavoursome, plentiful and piping hot . We visited in January and all 5 of us had roast beef which was cold and the potatoes seemed to be very watery we noted the waitress and recieved a discount of our bill . We gave it a second chance a month later and unfortunately again the roast was cold , the potatoes looked like they needed another 45 minutes in the oven and the gravy I can only describe as congealed jelly . Not worth £17.95 .

First Sunday lunch was simply amazing, unfortunately today was a completely different experience, roast beef with hardly any beef, 3 tiny slices, undercooked roast potatoes, all quiet bland, 2 drinks served we're not what was ordered. However as before the waiting staff were great, very friendly and efficient. We will probably try again based on our first visit

We decided to go inland instead of eating at the coast, how refreshing to have proper friendly service, good food that has a wow factor when it arrives, well kept Black Sheep beer and my wife had a good NZ Pinot Noir. We both chose the burger which was excellent. It was quite full on a Friday lunchtime, but it was nice to be treated as a valued customer as opposed to some of the coastal restaurants that have the opinion that as the restaurant will always be full you don’t have look after your customers or serve quality food.

Fantastic food! Calamari was perfect to start, followed my Fillet Steak which was top notch, tasty, melt in the mouth and very well cooked, childrens menu good, chicken goujon’s homemade, with chicken breast and lovely crisp panko breadcrumbs, rump steak burger was great, as all our meals were. Deserts, Panacotta, Tiramisu and Sorbet were chosen between my family and they were all great, over all portion size for all meals perfect, staff friendly and ales well kept. Will definitely be back.

Not much choice for main meals only about 5 or 6 I had the fish and chips (which were french fries) to have thick cut chips were £3 a portion more making a nice fish and chips £18. The steak was £29.95 again expensive for what you got. Puddings were £8. the food was good tasty and a good portion ( not enough for the prices above though). Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The meal and service were very good. The starter although not overly large was extremely tasty and well presented. The main meal, beef for one and chicken for two, very good. It appears to be the trend for vegetables, especially greens, to be served very nearly raw. Personally I do not enjoy vegetables in such a a way. Overall, a pleasant experience which we will repeat

We had a lovely lunch during Norfolk restaurant week. the staff were very efficient, but also quite discrete. The food arrived at a good interval after drinks giving us time for a family chat before eating. All the food served was of an excellent quality and portion size perfect for a lunch. The set 2 course menu had something for everyone, but also offered some specials and sandwich choices. Reasonably priced with a lovely atmosphere. Great village pub.

Wonderful evening spent at The Crown Inn, East Rudham. The atmosphere, drink and food was warm, inviting and delicious! The waiting staff were efficient, friendly, unobtrusive yet attentive. I would highly recommend this pub to locals and visitors to North Norfolk!
