We had friends gathering in Zen Vegan &vegetarian restaurant. We had an amazing experience here last Friday. The food was absolutely delicious, especially my favourite dishes- Fried steam bun, and the benton Box set.

Myself and 8 other friends are at shanghi Friday evening, I booked this Restaurant for us all to enjoy our Xmas meal together, we have all been here before many times and it's been great, however Friday was very different, none of us took our coats or scarfs off as it was so cold in there, we asked on multiple occasions for the heating to be put on as we were freezing. We ordered a variety of starters for the 9 of us when we arrived, the food took ages to come out and when it arrived they only brought out 4 of the dishes we had asked for, a basket of pancakes but no duck, crispy lamb that was over cooked warmed up meat that was almost black and rock hard, chicken skewers which had next to no chicken on and no sauce to go with it, vegetables spring rolls which were lovely but only 6 to go between 9 of us, so we waited a while thinking the rest of our food was on the way but after about 5/10 mins we realised no more was coming and what we had infront of us had gone cold, we ate it and asked multiple staff where the rest of our food was, this happened a few times over the next hour and a half and we were all really hungry and stil all sat there in our coats and scarfs, we all decided at this point to leave the restaurant, we spoke to a member of staff to tell them how unhappy we all were and she said she was sorry and she will get us some fresh hot food as they had apparently been very busy that evening. We refused to pay but the staff member insisted we all pay a reduced cost of 15.50 instead of the 25.00 it should of been, we all just wanted to leave to go home and get warm so we all paid. I just want people to be aware that this restaurant has gone downhill massively. We stuck to the carpets as we walked on them. The crispy lamb was rock hard cold and inedible, NO HEATING, toilet seat broken an held together by sellotape, rotten radiators. And they clearly have a rodent problem with the amount of wire inplace of the holes in the walls. So disappointing to be honest as we've had many years of lovely hot food in a lovely restaurant. I took photos of how bad it is but there isn't an option to upload them.

Decided not to order here again, since the young lady is not taking the orders, the bloke who has been taking them for a while is absolutely useless, for the past five times I’ve had an item missing, ever after raising this on many of occasions including tonight when I called them, to then get home and realised they have not given any sweet and sour sauce, I know every fast food takeaway sometimes forget stuff but this is way too often.

Ordered from here for a birthday meal, me and my family were eating and found a flying ant in the noodles. I called the restaurant and was screamed at and threatened; she said she’d come to my house. The women on the phone (wang) spoke to me so appalling my mother took over and spoke to her where she accused my mum of putting hair in the food to get a refund?? After about 20 minutes of being screamed at and threatened she sent the driver to come and collect the rest of the food that we’d been put off eating due to the INSECTS? And said she’d refund what was left..the delivery driver however was lovely and even took us to the restaurant himself (as I don’t drive) to get it sorted, even he knew it was all bs. After being interrogated and wang giving my 14 year old sister a mouthful we got a refund as we said we’d call environmental health?? The delivery driver then took us home and apologised on behalf of the restaurant even tho it was not his job to do so. Myself and my family will never be ordering from here ever again, not even because of the flying ant (it’s that time of year all the bugs come back to life) but because of the way it was handled and how myself and my 14 year old sister were treated…on my birthday no less. I would not recommend buying anything from good wok unless you want to be interrogated, threatened and verbally abused 👍🏻

The last time we were here was back in October 2023. Food was an acceptable standard. One dish we ordered was Beef HoFun. Unfortunately, rehydrated HoFun was used, which wasn't an issue. But on this occasion, the HoFun wasnt properly rehydrated, as a result, it was soft on the outside and hard on inside, like under cooked rice. Every eatery deserves a chance so we thought it was just an oversight. We visited again today for lunch. Big disappointment is an understatement. Food was of very poor standard. Egg tarts appeared to be from yesterday's (Chinese New Year) shift.. Oil used to deep fry the dim sum dishes we ordered definitely was old/tainted oil, which had been used to fry lobster/prawns. The roast pork belly again was most likely from yesterday's shift. The rice texture gave me the feeling it was microwave reheated. Certain steamed dim sum had the appearance/taste of frozen ready made fare from Chinese supermarkets. The service was poor and attention to detail was non existent. A waiter brought back a refilled teapot. Spilled an amount on the table and walked off. Leaving us to deal with the mess. Not a big deal, but to not acknowledge the accident wasn't very professional. Overall, it was a poor show at best. Waiting staff definitely need training, as for the food, I can only say that they need to raise their game.

We have used Wok Express for years ever since it opened. In recent months the food has dissapointed over and over again. Our favourite order King Red with Beef & Cashews & Young Chow Rice . These dishes have changed they dont taste as good. So we chose different options trying to find what it was we used to like about Wok Express. Tonight I chose Beef with Ginger & Spring Onions it was horrible huge burning chunks of undercooked ginger, chewy dry beef. Slimey veg in a non descript sauce. Ugh! The Young Chow Rice used to be fabulous full of flavour & assorted meats & prawns a real treat. Now it reminds me of microwavable ready cooked sachet rice bland and boring no taste at all just undercooked lumpy rice with a few tasteless minute bits of chicken, meat & tiny prawns. Utterly ghastly! My husband did not even fancy eating anything this time. For a complete change I got some Crispy Won Tons which had been refried they were stale from another day! Chewy & dark brown. That ls the last order I will make, horrible dont waste your money.
