Wok Express in Gloucester - Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews

We have used Wok Express for years ever since it opened. In recent months the food has dissapointed over and over again. Our favourite order King Red with Beef & Cashews & Young Chow Rice . These dishes have changed they dont taste as good. So we chose different options trying to find what it was we used to like about Wok Express. Tonight I chose Beef with Ginger & Spring Onions it was horrible huge burning chunks of undercooked ginger, chewy dry beef. Slimey veg in a non descript sauce. Ugh! The Young Chow Rice used to be fabulous full of flavour & assorted meats & prawns a real treat. Now it reminds me of microwavable ready cooked sachet rice bland and boring no taste at all just undercooked lumpy rice with a few tasteless minute bits of chicken, meat & tiny prawns. Utterly ghastly! My husband did not even fancy eating anything this time. For a complete change I got some Crispy Won Tons which had been refried they were stale from another day! Chewy & dark brown. That ls the last order I will make, horrible dont waste your money.

Stood in there for 15 minutes being ignored. Then when she finally acknowledged me said they stopped taking orders 5 minutes ago when I’d been in there for 15 minutes.

We had a take away meal for 2, we were disappointing, so will not use this restaurant again For us the starters were over cooked - very dry and very very crispy. We had 3 mains, two of which were small portions.

Tasty Chicken Chow Mein and Egg fried rice. Quick delivery via JustEat. Always comes on time and if you’re picking it up - takes less than 20 mins at peak times!!

If we could, we would give this takeaway good but the ratings on this site go from average to very good. I'm going to contact them after this review about that. Moving on, used just eat app for the 1st time. Was able to pre order and we had a nice deal consisting of sweet and sour chicken balls, special fried rice, chicken chow mien and prawn crackers all for 13 quid. They add on 2 pound delivery and 50p added goes to just eat. Delivery was early which was fine and food was nice. Next time I'll go there myself. There are a number of decent Chinese takeaways locally but would consider this again and would get a good rating

It’s a real shame, because the food is lovely. Really good portions and tasty food. Only downside is the piece of bone that I found in my chicken ball. Reported but the owners didn’t want to know. On the back of that I’m going to score a 3. Really nice food but let down by hygiene and service. Rare, but caution should be taken.

Start with the good bit...most of the food was cooked in view to order. All arrived home nice and hot. As chinese curries go theirs was good and bizzarly their chips were excellent. Rest of the dishes nothing special and the duck was a big disappointment. Having lived in Hong Kong I struggle to find decent Chinese takeaways in the UK so it may suit others but we would only return for an occasional curry.

Really yummy noodles and rice - can sometimes take a little bit longer to come, but is definitely worth it!

always go here, it is consistently good. Good prices and good food. Freshly made Chinese with quality ingredients. Always so quick too.

Ordered takeaway using the just eat app and the service was shocking, not only did it take nearly 2 hours to receive the food ordered but when I called for an update they were unhelpful and gave no reason for the delay. Avoid
