The last time we were here was back in October 2023. Food was an acceptable standard. One dish we ordered was Beef HoFun. Unfortunately, rehydrated HoFun was used, which wasn't an issue. But on this occasion, the HoFun wasnt properly rehydrated, as a result, it was soft on the outside and hard on inside, like under cooked rice. Every eatery deserves a chance so we thought it was just an oversight. We visited again today for lunch. Big disappointment is an understatement. Food was of very poor standard. Egg tarts appeared to be from yesterday's (Chinese New Year) shift.. Oil used to deep fry the dim sum dishes we ordered definitely was old/tainted oil, which had been used to fry lobster/prawns. The roast pork belly again was most likely from yesterday's shift. The rice texture gave me the feeling it was microwave reheated. Certain steamed dim sum had the appearance/taste of frozen ready made fare from Chinese supermarkets. The service was poor and attention to detail was non existent. A waiter brought back a refilled teapot. Spilled an amount on the table and walked off. Leaving us to deal with the mess. Not a big deal, but to not acknowledge the accident wasn't very professional. Overall, it was a poor show at best. Waiting staff definitely need training, as for the food, I can only say that they need to raise their game.

Having been a regular for some 40 years at the mayflower in Cheltenham I needed to find a replacement after it closed down the other week. I drove past this restaurant and noticed a lot of Asian people inside so I thought to myself that is a good sign it must serve good food. We decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. Having spent over two years living in Hong Kong their food brought back many happy memories as I had not had my favourite dish of typhoon shelter crab for over 29 years . Sadly it was not made with the soft shelled variety of crab but nonetheless it was a trip down memory lane. This will now be our go to Chinese restaurant and I look forward to trying their menu in its entirety

This is my family’s favourite restaurant in Gloucester and now our go-to place for authentic Cantonese food. We used to have to travel all the way London for decent yum cha - if anyone has fussy parents from HK you will understand the struggle! Joy Kitchen clearly have a skilled dim sum chef from Hong Kong and they are excellent. My dad swears their wu gok (taro croquette) is perfect. Hot tip: their coconut, red bean jelly is a summer essential. This is a family run restaurant with a lovely relaxed vibe and attentive servers, so expect it to be always busy with families over the weekend. Unlike other Chinese restaurants they don’t pander to ‘takeaway tastes’, so don't expect chips or chicken balls…

Very traditional Chinese food , not what you get at your local takeaway. Upon entering we were advised only open till 5 this was a whole hour before. The menu was very limited to my liking and struggled to find anything to eat. Got a few drinks and left. Furnishings are drab and well worn.

Came here for a birthday meal on bank holiday Monday with my partner. My table was booked for 1.00pm. No one to greet you at the door. At 1.30pm we were still waiting for our table. It appeared that even though they were fully booked they had still took more bookings as well as walk ins. The final straw was when they showed a table behind us in the queue to their table before us. Avoid at all cost customer service is lacking to say the least.

After recommendations from several friends, I went to check out Joy Kitchen with my partner. We were not disappointed. Super friendly service on a busy Saturday afternoon. (We didn’t booked, but got a table immediately.) Food was delicious and came very quickly. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Went there with my in-laws to celebrate New Year to try the authentic Chinese food. The staff was very friendly however the food was very disappointed. First the so called signature dish - sweet and sour pork (a dish which the chef is supposed to know how to cook it properly) was too sour and no flavour. Also the quantity was so small (I would say it is like a starter more than a main course dish); £10.50 was definitely over charge. Secondly the puff pastry with cha siu pork - the pastry was so dry that it seemed it had been either overcooked or reheated again and again. The egg tarts looked very popular in the restaurant (saw many people ordered them) but when they arrived, the custard part was definitely overdone (dry on the top and didn't have the creamy texture). Also they charge £2.10 each customer for Chinese tea without notifying the customers first so we had to pay £12.60 for a very diluted Chinese tea! I hope that it is only a one-off unpleasant experience as if they continue with this kind of service, I can't see that it will survive locally no matters how they use the KOLs or YouTubers for promotion purpose!

We’ve been for dim sum a few times in the last few months. Food is excellent and authentic. We live in Bristol and come all the way just for dim sum. That says it all.

We have eaten here a few times over the last few months and have never been disappointed (bar the Sunday evening they were shut with no notice on the door to explain why). The service is always friendly and attentive without being intrusive, the mixed starter is very good and we have had quite a few of the main courses over the months. The house wines are really nice. Overall a great experience and at a decent price.

This was previously Blossom and as such was very good. We ordered on line via YoYo and initially it said pick up in fifteen minutes, but we then had an email confirmation saying there was a twenty-five minute delay. We went to collect the order at the time suggested only to be told it wasn't ready and wouldn't be for another fifteen minutes! No apology and no offer of free prawn crackers. So in all it was almost an hour from time of order to collection - not really acceptable. The actual food was acceptable but definitely not anything like as good as Blossom was. Overall a disappointing experience
