O’Neill’s on St Mary Street is a place where the only thing stronger than the Guinness is the scent of spilled pints on the floor. It’s the kind of pub where the Wi-Fi signal is as spotty as the bar stools, but honestly, you’re better off chatting with the locals who seem to have mastered the art of *small talk with a side of banter*. The menu? Think comfort food with an Irish twist—because nothing says "I'm having a great time" like a plate of nachos that could double as a small country. The vibe is a mix of "we’ve been here since 1997" and "I’m just here to watch the match", which is basically code for "everyone knows your name but will still ask for your ID." On a busy night, getting a drink can be like a game of musical chairs, except the music is the sound of *someone else’s elbow in your ribs*. But hey, the staff are fast, friendly, and won't judge you when you order your fourth round. If you’re looking for a cozy, chaotic, and unashamedly fun pub experience, O'Neill’s is your place. Just remember to keep an eye on your coat—it’s a pub, not a wardrobe!

Have been to this restaurant quite a few times and have to say the food and service is exceptional! Special mention to Becky who honestly is absolutely amazing ! Nothing is too much trouble and she goes out of her way to ensure that everything is perfect. Booked a midweek dinner with friends. The restaurant was really busy but well staffed. We had great service from Holly and Christopher on the bar. We all ate from the à la carte menu, however the £25.00 ‘25 year’ celebration set menu looked really great value. A lovely evening in a lovely setting, the ambiance was great.

Very nice pub, the staff were excellent and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. So five stars there. The food was average pub grub and lacked the extra attention needed for an evening meal, at £17 for a pie and chips I was not impressed, so, three stars there, drinks expensive, I can understand why it is a brewery-owned pub, the people running it are great though.

Love the atmosphere in this place. The staff are all welcoming and friendly and the food is plentiful and of a high quality. We thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday carvery and, based on the number of people also eating there while we were there, everyone else did too. Recommend you book and do it soon - excellent value for money.

Our 2nd visit in a few weeks, sunday lunch the other week was delicous and service very good. We went again today and had a “buy-a gift” voucher to use. Manager was so helpful ( as a problem with the voucher) The food and service was excellent, will definately be returning with friends.

When I arrived my family were already sat at the table. It was a warm day so I picked up a glass from the table to have water. It was so dusty it looked opaque, my cutely was all dirty. My starter came (mushroom) the pasty was soggy and under cooked. The children had pizza ( limited basic child’s menu) it was the quality of a basic unbranded super market value pizza. Cheese just melted no colour. I definitely think it needs a new hygiene assessment, When I spoke to the staff (all young, no senior member) I was told to ring or email. I’ve done both since and to date no reply. It could be such a wonderful place. It just looked said and run down.

Five of us went for Sunday lunch. We checked in advance that vegetarians could be accommodated with good food. The three meat eaters had a decent meal. The vegetarian food was appalling. First we were told as we ordered that the roast potatoes, stuffing and Yorkshire puddings were cooked in lard and there was no veggie option. We said we would be ok with extra vegetables to make up for this. At the table the waitress asked us if we would like meat gravy ( we declined and we were brought a very small portion of gloopy vegetable gravy. The so called nut-roast was a rice and mushroom patty and it tasted meaty as if it was cooked in a deep fryer which had been used for meat. It was incredibly greasy and I left mine. My daughter in law ate hers as she was hungry but said it was not nice. We were given 3 baby potatoes each and a spoonful of cabbage, carrots and processed peas. We asked for more veg to be told it was not possible. One of the husbands went to the bar and said we would pay for more veg but again the staff said they could not provide more! We all went home where I made deserts for everyone and cooked myself same vegetarian sausages and vegetables. The meals were £15 each and the two vegetarians left hungry and unhappy! Don’t go if you are vegetarian or vegan as it is truly appalling.

Had a Birthday meal with friends, our food was outstanding. Lovely selection of beers(I wasn’t driving). We all enjoyed great atmosphere, lovely helpful staff & reasonably priced. I had Salt n pepper calamari with garlic dip & Chicken Cynru (Chicken in a cheese, bacon & leek sauce), with garlic sautee potatoes £21. I CANT recommend this place enough honestly.
