What an incredible experience we've had during our first visit here! We just couldn’t leave without sharing our thoughts before we head back to Kent tomorrow. This place is truly a hidden gem! My wife and I arrived yesterday to celebrate a special family occasion, and from the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with the warmest welcome from Alison. It set the tone for an unforgettable stay. Last night, we indulged in a three-course meal at the restaurant, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of five-star excellence. As someone who works in London, I can confidently say that the quality of food and service here rivals some of the best 5-star restaurants & hotels in the city. The staff here are nothing short of amazing—a true testament to their professionalism and to Newbridge on Usk. Hats off to the entire team for their hard work! We can’t wait to return for another memorable experience! 😁

Our time at Newbridge on Usk was perfect, if not fleeting. We had the most wonderful dinner to celebrate my graduation with impeccable service from Luke who knew his stuff about the menu. The room was wonderful, beautifully designed, lovely shower, great hair drier!! I never usually have a good night sleep in hotels but the bed was so comfortable that I had the most restful night’s sleep in a very long time. My only regret is that we had to leave so quickly but we will certainly be back! Diolch

Very disappointed on two fronts. Firstly the food is way way over priced and does not reflect the cost. I had a steak which came with .. and this is a first .. raw kale. Yes, raw kale, that well known accompaniment for beef. There were a few chips and that was it. £34 for that lot was absolutely taking the mick. My wife had cod which to be fair was pretty good. We had a Chenin Blanc from the ridiculously overpriced wine list which was £39 and probably the worst Chenin we’ve ever had. When the waitress asked how everything was I was about to launch into a tirade about the Kale. But my wife said “fine” and she was gone. When the bill came Helen added a tip of £15 even though we were not that happy. But it’s not the staffs fault. When my bill was emailed to me this had mysteriously increased to £27.31 so I suspect a mandatory service charge has been added as well. I messaged the hotel to query but of course never heard back. They have messaged me asking for a review though, so here it is. The room we stayed in was fine. Breakfast is a cold buffet which we hadn’t realised nor had another couple.

I really wanted to love this place but was very disappointed. Room was decent, dinner was underwhelming (it’s not difficult to get roast potatoes right) and if you want a proper English breakfast you have to drive to the Celtic manor!!! Won’t be going back

We tried this restaurant today during our Celtic manor resort stay and I'm glad we did. Alison warmly welcomed my family (2 adults and 2 kids) and she was able to guide us with food options. Food was really lovely and tasted good too. Good portions too esp the sea food platter. Will visit again if I'm in the area.

Rooms have been updated, with a Dyson fan and hairdryer, coffee machine . Still very dated looking rooms. Pillows were awful flat as pancakes felt like declared bean bags. We stayed in the room called the “peaceful perch” well far from it. Heavy rain ☔️ that night … the guttering was blocked … it was constantly dripping directly in front of the door to the room into the plastic drain . … hence no sleep for me all night … very dissapointing stay

This is a culinary oasis in the middle of farms. We stayed the night and had a great 3 course dinner. To that we added the seafood sampler - oh my God. It was absolutely fantastic with 7 types of seafood. My favorite was the pickled herring, but the mussels were good too. The sampler has enough food for 4 if you add a dessert at the end. Staff was great.

Met here this evening for a meal with friends. Lovely table in the window overlooking the river. Service was good. Food was very mediocre. Chose from the table d’hote menu 3 courses for £32. Starters were ok - risotto was very good. Prawn cocktail was ok but a lot of pepper which is not to everyone’s taste. Onion soup was very thick because of the cheese melted over the croutons. Whitebait was good. Mains were ok but celeriac was served without any accompaniments which made it a very small meal. Luckily others had chips and potato skins to share. Fish and chips were just ok. Desserts were again just ok. Sticky toffee pudding seemed like a slice of cake without any toffee sauce but a small pot of custard. Generally an average meal which surprised us given the type of establishment it is.

We had Sunday lunch, service I must say was good, but the starter was poor, main course okay but as a Sunday lunch was not anything great, the desert was awful, suppose to be apple tart with ice cream, bought pastry shell you could not eat and cheap ice cream it was terrible nothing like described on the menu, they need a pastry chef, A average Sunday lunch for the money a lot better Sunday lunch’s about. Also as a wine buff I can say the wine list prices were off the scale, charging 5 star hotel prices for average wine

Heard a lot of good comments, so went for an overnight stay. Our allocated room, (The Happy Heron) was tastefully decorated and warm. (Really appreciated after a rather wet and dismal journey!) The bathroom is well appointed, but there was a layer of dust on the cross-piece on the rear of the bathroom door, and the bath seemed to have a powdery coating. Comfortable bed and quality bedding. Tea/coffee/ chocolate and a coffee machine, which unfortunately had no instructions on how to use. And so to dinner. My wife ordered the chicken breast and I the hake and chips. My wife's meal was really good but alas, my hake was small, chewy and covered in a batter that disintegrated as soon as you put a knife to it, sending shrapnel over the table. My wife's dessert of an individual apple pie was baked so hard, she had to have a knife as well as her spoon to break into it! My sticky toffee pudding was good. The staff, especially Alison, were really helpful, and Stuart quickly dealt with our departure in the morning. For the money, not really good value, having stayed at various hotels that offer better value.

Birthday celebration for wife and daughter. Wife’s Hake was tough and hard, my 28 day aged steak was quite tough and rubbery and the Hasselback potato was dry and difficult to eat. This establishment is meant to be top table stuff, my daughter said she’d have rather gone to the Harvester. To be clear, we had just two glasses of wine; one each for my wife and I, so the bulk of costs were on the food. In fairness we did not complain at the time as both of our children would have found it very uncomfortable and spoiled the evening - having a replacement would have taken time and interfered with an important family milestone Why on earth is so difficult to get this relatively straight forward order wrong - I expect the steak to be well sourced, where they got this cut of beef I’ve no idea. Not at all worth well over £200 for the four of us.

We expected high standards when we booked to have lunch at the Newbridge Inn. We were happy with the service, but disappointed by the main course food. The starters (onion soup and whitebait) were good. For the main course my wife ordered the glazed duck breast which was presented as two pieces of duck just plonked on the plate with a small patty of roast beetroot and black pudding. A side dish of vegetables was provided, which contained a high proportion of kale. The duck was too rare and really unappetising to look at. One piece cooked properly would have been sufficient. The taste was OK but we have had better, many times. I chose the duet of Welsh lamb. Two pieces of lamb arrived, one decently cooked and one too rare. one piece was sitting on a small pile of confit potato and turnip. When I asked whether vegetables were provided I was told that they didn't come with the lamb dish. I could have ordered side dishes but at £4.20 each on top of already high prices I chose not to do so. Desserts were fine - nothing special. We had white wine - probably the cheapest on the wine list, but for £32 a bottle (from memory) way overpriced. Of course we could have complained, but doing so creates a difficult situation and delays the meal if one customer has to wait for a replacement. Anyway, it should not be necessary to have to return food in an establishment of this quality. This was a really disappointing experience for a restaurant which apparently has a good reputation.

We paid for, and expected, a bit of luxury. However: the bedrooms are noisily and unromantically all in the car park with views of the car park and tall hedges. Breakfast was wildly understaffed, and sadly minimal Continental: cheap fruit salad; no strawberries, raspberries, blueberries; no granola, muesli, porridge, nuts, seeds or dried fruit; no capers, tomatoes, lettuce, lemon slices etc to go with smoked salmon or cured meat; no eggs; my cappuccino was flat milky weak coffee; the pastries however were fresh and delicious. The lovely bridge and river are not visible from the dining room, just heavy lorries thundering very close. Dinner was overpriced and over salted; the cheese was accompanied by dull chutney and no fruit; the cheese itself, though minimal, was excellent.

Beautiful setting on a lovely summer Sunday - we had booked which is probably advisable so knew it was going to be a bit pricey - I think it works out to about £34 for 3 courses , ( Drinks obviously extra) But, the food was truly memorable - I had venison whilst the other family members started on pigeon followed by beef. Some vegetables are served in side dishes - presentation could really be improved there and my starter definitely stated “scallops” on the menu , but, it appeared as a solitary scallop in a lobster bisque - a little disappointing . The desserts were outstanding - plum tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream - superb ! Service was good and there was musical entertainment in the form of a guitarist . He was really good - eclectic style - but, sorry, a bit too loud and this impacted upon our table conversation - a pity . A special lunch out !

We got breakfast included however I have celiac disease so didn't really expect there to be anything I could eat and breakfast buffets make me very nervous about cross contamination. However (Katie) our excellent waitress (someone please promote her) put me completely at ease. She checked with the chef what could be altered on the menu and I actually had loads of choice. Then she reiterated to the chef that it was an allergy and they needed to take care. Why can't you ring direct ( was the question) Not for me I'm afraid.Anyway moan over, the staff were very accommodating and we had a large circular table ably served with drinks etc. Food perfect, smallish selection to pick from but nicely presented, hot and plentiful. Drinks too, served quickly and politely. No complaints here. Staff, on the whole were friendly but we felt a heavy push to sell more drinks. The food was very good but most of the menu had an 'add-on' charge to the package price. Our waiter talked us into going for a full bottle of wine despite us not originally asking - pushy. He also described it as 'won't cost you any more' but it did. a lot more. We argued this at departure as we weren't expecting it to cost 'any more'. After initially agreeing the discount with a member of staff, the original waiter kindly put it back on our bill after we had left...Terrible. Will not go back under any circumstance and left a very bitter taste after spending well over £200. I feel ripped off...

Have eaten here several times, but my last visit was lacklustre, and ordinary. As if no-one really cared. The service was alright, but the food was not wonderful. Won't be returning.

Booked Newbridge on Usk for an overnight stay with dinner as we have stayed at other Celtic Manor properties. The rooms are located in an seperate building to the bar/restaurant with free parking its quite a steep slope from the rooms to the main building. our room was on the ground floor, a bit rustic compared to the Resort rooms but lovely nevertheless and the bed was very comfy. Bathroom had all usual stuff plus large walk in shower and huge bath. All i would have liked was a little bistro type table and chairs in the little area outside our room so we could enjoy a tea/coffee in the sun before we got ready for dinner.

Ate here as part of a stay at the Celtic Manor. Crab starter was absolutely stunning. Steaks perfectly cooked. Wine was beautiful. It's expensive yes, but totally worth it in my view. Oh, and the location......wow! Will definitely be returning.

We were here with the family for an anniversary meal and the whole experience was very good. We ate off the lunch menu. For the starters the pork terrine on brioche was lovely, and apparently the salmon was extremely tasty too. My son ate off the children's menu and his crudities with tomato mayonnaise went down a treat, although were a little expensive at £3.50 for what they were. The children's burger in contrast was enormous, and very good value! The main course of beef was really flavoursome, and the chocolate desserts were exquisite. The ambience was great, with jazz being played softly like some 1940s film noir. We had a nice view across the countryside from our table and the service was very good, with Gabriel being very efficient and Valter being friendly and attentive. Would recommend this restaurant overall!

It's a beautiful spot overlooking the river. The food was nice but not exceptional. The cost of a portion/side of veg was extortionate considering all that was served up was two tiny carrots, a few springs of broccoli and a leaf or two of spinach. So we had to ordered two portions.

Such a nice venue. The views from the balcony restaurant are spectacular. 25 family members for a Saturday lunchtime birthday celebration. The bar & restaurant areas are bright & airy. The bar staff greeted us warmly & provided us with a quick & efficient service. (no real ales to offer). Most opted for the three course set menu £20. Not a bad price. Those around me had the following starters, lamb sweet breads (no flavour), soup (very tasty), vegetarian option (very good)... Mains, Pork (dry), Hake (overcooked), vegetarian (excellent) Beef (good).. Sweets, Orange parfait (good) strawberries & cream (few & ice cold), Chocolate (okay), cheeseboard (good).. Generally the food was average... However the service offered by all the staff on the balcony area was superb... They were all so helpful, efficient, courteous and calm. After lunch all 25 of us moved onto the lovely riverside garden area for coffee & photos. The Newbridge on Usk staff followed on providing the great attentive service.. Bravo to all of you. Thank you. It was the staff on the day that made it special, counter balancing the otherwise rather disappointing food...

Having visited before and been very pleased we decided to go for a special family night. However the Newbridge seems to have lost its glow and was a bit depressing. The meal was ok with no reason to complain and yet it was easily forgotten, It was more hotel cooking and not the exciting restaurant cooking of our previous visits. Still no draught local ales only bottles and gassy imported lager. Whilst having a pre dinner drink at the bar we asked for some olives, I was astonished to find when we had the bill that we had been charged £3.50 for them. The staff were pleasant but seemed to be lacking direction and the service was quite slow between courses despite the restaurant being very quiet. Toilet facilities were good. We will not be rushing back to the Newbridge in the future.

We had a meal here as part of a Celtic Manor stay. Food was okay but the staff were very young and extremely confrontational with each other. It was unpleasant viewing. The boy behind the bar discussed how the job was going with a new employee and completely slated where he worked and encouraged the new boy to do so too. He also back chatted his manager very loudly. The only member of staff I rate is Cariad.

The Newbridge on Usk sits on the banks of the river and what amazing views you get. Best place to sit is on that terrace. Stay there all day. Locally sourced beef I'm told so I ordered the steak ciabatta for lunch which was cooked medium rare, and was great. It was really busy inside and out and whilst service may have been on the slow side, this is a relaxed environment and I was in no rush to leave. It is a 2 rosette restaurant so I'm sure there's a lot to live up to but it is a casual restaurant nonetheless.

Enjoyable meal . They obviously care about the ingredients and cooking and me and my pals had a good evening . Staff are a wee bit full of themselves for my taste but others may differ . Very good fish and beef and a wine list that isn’t rapacious. I’d go again if in the vicinity.

Must compliment this restaurant, for the quality of food, drinks, staff and service. The fish platter to share is highly recommended and was complimented with some exquisite wines (Not to expensive either). We were all looked after excellently by Ben the Head Waiter, Richard barman and the new Manager. Staff had a very good knowledge of the wines, port and aperitifs and were well trained in the art of service waiting by leaving the cheeseboard at the table till all guests had gone, well done Ben. Big thanks for making a very enjoyable birthday treat for our friend Karen. Thanks Chris & Anne

Our party of 10 arrived for Sunday lunch and were very impressed with the whole place. However, most of our party chose the beef for their main course - what a disappointment! So tough as to be virtually indestructible. When this was pointed out to the waitress she swiftly blamed the steak-knives! Wow, she's good. So we pointed out that we were unable to chew the meat and she just said that she would inform the chef. I suspect that he already knew. Anyway, they still added the 10% service charge and compensated us with a very modest bottle of red wine. Not sure how we were meant to divide that between us all. So, could do better and at these prices - should do better. Won't be returning.

Part of the Celtic Manor stable of restaurants, the property is situated overlooking the Usk and its valley. There is parking behind the restaurant. It is quite a small place, with a couple sitting rooms where drinks can be taken, a bar, and dining area with perhaps 6 tables. In Summer there is an outdoor terrace as well.

My partner and I came here to check out the Detroit pizza and cocktails. The service was fast and super friendly, plus they catered for my nut allergy really well. Being dog friendly, we took out 12 yo labrador Alffi who had fun, plus and Utterly Mutterly ice-cream! We had the 1/2 and 1/2 Detroit pizza, a mix of Bloody Mary and the porcini mushrooms. It was DELISH, the portion was also massive meaning we took half home for tea, making it 2 meals in 1. My partner had the Detroit IPA which was hoppy and fresh. I had the Shepherd and Welsh Wanderer cocktails. Very strong, delicious and well presented. We have friends that live locally and will absolutely be back to check out the Sunday slices, bring our dogs and have some more pizza and cocktails. Thanks Lee & co for fab hospitality.

Recently refurbished and Rebranded as "Fire & Fork" promising a " a traditional American barbecue experience". No Bread available before Starters. - Pork Burnt Ends - Mixture of under and over cooked chunks of pork in a sickly sweet, slightly spicy smoked sauce. Need something acidic to cut through all the fat came with "Texas "Toast", Stale slice of bloomer spread with an unidentifiable substance. Beef Cigars - Lovely shredded beef in a crispy pancake style roll with a rich, smoked Garlic Mayo. Mains - XL Short Ribs not available so both ordered the 10 Hour Smoked Brisket. Served as described on menu. No discernable smoked crust or flavour to the Brisket. No mustard available at this restaurant. No Napkins provided, asked twice, got some from another table. we dealt with our cutlery shortage similarly. No water provided when requested. Inexperience of the staff evident but more than made up for by their enthusiasm and wish to please. Two Starters, Two Mains, Three pints and a Short / Mixer - £92. Option to add tip to card payment. Cash tip direct to server. This place has lots of potential but needs to overcome teething problems before one will consider a return
