Had two of the specials, Crispy Chilli Beef and Spiced Crispy Lamb Kofta. Both meals were amazing. Flavourful and filling. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Will definitely be returning.

Really really good food! Not your average takeaway at all! Let alone your average fish & chip shop. So many things you can have, aside from the normal fish & chips. Everything cooked to a really high standard, with an interesting & changing menu. Friendly staff, who love a natter with you while they cook. Top marks Dai!

We thought We'd try this chippy with the new owners. To start with the frier was rude after I asked a courteous question about where I was parked. The quality of the food was dreadful, fish was disgusting. It was very expensive too! I'll avoid it here at all costs in future. Such a shame given what it used to be like!

First time trying under the new ownership (as I was just oblivious) and was immediately waylaid by the street food options. So instead of my regular fish’n chips, I went for Korean crispy pork belly with noodles and I do not regret it. It was finger-licking delish. Will have to pop in a bit more frequently with so many more moorish options. 👍🏻

Great to have a proper chippy in Abergavenny. No grease in sight. Great tasty food with several special that are unique and delicious. Great service and price. Will be a regular visitor now that we've found it! Highly recommend and will spread the word.

Awesome! Food was top ⭐️. Had monkfish scampi - wow! Hubby had noodles and deep fried pork belly. Chips were incredible. Portion size was perfect. And very reasonable too for the standard of the food. Will be going back asap! The menu was extensive with lots to try!

First time trying this unusual takeaway. We weren’t disappointed. Loved the chips were made with potato skins on them. The pulled pork in a bun with salad was excellent. Packed with flavour. A real treat to be able to order gluten free and especially good getting a decent gluten free bun as well. Thank you. We will be back.

Best fish and chips I’ve had in years! Cod was incredible. The batter was super crispy and light, fish was delicious and fresh. I got the small chips but the portion was huge. They were skin on and absolutely delish! I popped in for a little Saturday treat, service was quick and people behind the counter were lovely! Would deffo say this is now the best chippy in Aber G!

First time trying the new Catch 22. Was honestly awful. Chips were raw, fish was definitely not Cod, overcooked and batter was so greasy. Curry sauce absolutely tasteless. Hubby had an extra sausage in batter, but the batter was so hard it had come off the sausage and crumbled to a load of fat coveted batter. Sadly we both are left feeling sickly and won't be back ...

Sorry attempt to posh up the much loved traditional fish & chips. New owners have taken over from the former Maerdy Fish & Chip Shop and sadly they are not a patch on the former owners in the quality of fish & chips they serve up. Chips not fully cooked and not fresh, batter hard and not attached to fish. Whats with skin on chips? Just peel the chips and cook them properly fresh to order. As the previous owners did they were fantastic.

The new management are lovely and the fish is delicious. I recommend the Whitebait.

Went last week to get fish and chips. Thought the chips were hard and didn't taste fresh at all. The fish was dry and lots of black bits. The menu was expensive and seems different to what you would expect from a normal fish and chips. Bring back the old menu! The chicken nuggets and quarter pounders used to be delicious at Mardy Fish and Chips. Disappointed about the change.

We have had fish and chips from here several times, unfortunately standards have gradually dropped, our most recent experience - soggy batter on cod, the chips are incredibly greasy and are mostly little chippings rather than lovely fluffy chips….gutted as we thought we had found a really good chippy

I went in for a lovely bit of tea and that is exactly what I got. The lady left to run things while her colleague was out on a delivery did very well keeping everything going. Recommended.

Best fish and chips I've had in years

I had cod and chips and the cod was very good. A nice crispy tasty batter and well cooked fish. The chips were not too bad but a little thin and squishy for my liking with a slight back-taste. Overall this is fine if in the area andwanting fish and chips.

Definitely the best fish and chip shop in Abergavenny. I would highly recommend using their website to pre order and collect - very easy and food is always ready on time (also, still fresh!). Staff always friendly and helpful.

Ordered on line, booked a time slot, very busy chip shop but well organised. Welsh faggots are delicious, good quality and prices are very resonable.

New team running the chippy were welcoming and despite being part way through tidying up for the night were still willing to cook a few more items so I could enjoy a fabulous chip shop dinner after a late night in work. Highly recommend!!!

Mardy traditional fish n chips, need to rework there opening times, they constantly close before there opening hours, which is really unfair on those that rely on reading there opening hours, it's such a shame they feel the need to lie.

Wouldnt usually review a chippy, but these guys have been smashing it consistently for years now. Well and truly overtaken the other local establishments in terms of quality, and always great service.

Took a while to get served,the chips were quite dry, but ate most of them,the curry sauce was OK.

Kinda disappointed. Chips were cold after only a 5 mins drive home so must have been out a while, portions not great and mushy peas almost bitter! Felt expensive for what I got. Fish and sausage was nice.

An order for 9 people was dealt with efficiently in a very busy environment. Food was outstanding ,nicely cooked and good value . Such a huge amount of choices, friendly staff,clean and well run. Well worth a visit and a great meal to end our holiday 😋

Really good fish and chips. I think everything is cooked fresh to order so you may have to wait a while. I also think a lot of people were ordering online and then collecting so if you turn up at the shop you may not realise it but you are in a long "queue" as the staff are preparing the online orders as well. The food was worth the wait though best chips I've had in ages.

I went to get fish and chips for my tea, the chips were over cooked and inedible, the fish batter was a very thin coat, so i won't be rushing there very soon

Called in this evening for some chips. Stood at the counter several minutes to get served but was not even acknowledged in any shape or form. No eye contact, no verbal communication.....just stood trying to get served! Only one person working who appeared unable to cope, however, was managing to have a conversation regarding mobile chip vans with someone .... reason enough to ignore customers.? Very rude and unprofessional, it seems that COMMUNICATION, courtesy and good manners means nothing today. Took my custom elsewhere and will not return.

We’re from Yorkshire and we are blessed with many a good Fish and Chip Shop both locally and on the surrounding coastline . After reading several reviews for Fish and Chips within Abergavenny we decided to give these a bash. Well they really didn’t disappoint. The Fish and Chips were freshly and perfectly cooked. Came presented in a good solid box and felt the portion was good but not big. The fish was juicy and fresh and the chips were excellent. I can’t comment on other local establishments but we would highly recommend these and we will be visiting again as these we’re probably the best we’ve ever had. Mat & Jo, Sheffield. 👍🏻

Just had THE best chips I think I’ve ever eaten, or at least can’t remember better! Perfectly cooked, crispy but not at all dry, fluffy potato middle, we polished off every last scrap!

Excellent well cooked fish and chips

The website shows burgers in a bun with salad, what you get is a burger in a bun, no lettuce or onion or tomato totally misleading photos. The quality of the food is poor, the chips both looked & tasted like they had been cooked sometime before they were served. This chip shop was sometimes hit & miss with the food but this meal was really bad.

Lovely fish n chips. Only thing is fish seperate would keep it crispier. Don't listen to frozen chip guy, I saw the spuds being delivered ! Chips were cooked to perfection, tasted like triple cooked. Would definitely use this place again. Thank you.
