Brewers Fayre Ocean Park in Cardiff

Arrived after a long journey decided to go for some lunch before checking in.found a seat in bar area was told we could order at bar this was 2pm carvery served until 6 pm . Asked for 2 carvery’s and was told by the staff the chef was not allowing carvery’s to be sold until a party of 12 had come in in case he ran out of beef we explained we didn’t want beef just turkey and gammon she went and asked and again he refused.Spoke to a manager who said she could ask again but then carried on cleaning.Very poor service as carvery’s is suppose to be served up to 6 so poor planning on kitchen if at 2pm You are not sure if you had as be enough meat. I wasn’t going to put a review up until I heard back from Brewary Fayre but even though they promised a reply haven’t had the decency to reply.

My granddaughter and I went for breakfast on 10/1024, we were a little late arriving but just in time. We had a lovely breakfast and I am disabled, Lenesha was brilliant, she asked if there was anything we need before they closed the breakfast, my 8 year old granddaughter boldly said I'm going to get a warm pancake and syrup. Lenesha saw me try to get up and said you stay there sir, I will get your granddaughter her food. That kind of service is lacking in a lot of establishments these days, so I was very grateful for the help. We go quite regularly to Brewers Fayre Ocean Park for breakfast because we always get a warm welcome from the staff and lovely food.

went for a breakfast this morning as i fancied a treat, got to reception and was asked if i had booked and i hadnt, but Paula the duty manager said it was ok s i am a regular there especially for breakfast, when i asked how come she was front of house, she explained they were a staff member down so it was all hands on deck as we say in the navy. Didnt need to worry as the breakfast chef was well organised, keeping all the dishes topped up but not over filling so the food was alwys fresh, always great service and the staff on this morning were definetly the best, full credit to Paula she had her shift to do at 12, the company need to recognise the staff for there comittment and great service

Went for carvery as advertised 1200 to 1800 they ad run out of meat by 1500 absolutely useless planning by management or the chef plenty of roasties yorkshires still there but no meat at all tiny bit of beef but people ad reserved that bit unbelievable won't bothering again

Well what can I say !! Excellent food, there were 3 of us and all had lovely cooked meals , stayed across the road so eat there all week, and such a good price, a big thanks to Fay and her staff ( even the ones behind the scenes) nothing was a problem,well done and thanks we will be back

Just awful! Pathetic meals for the money. The burger in the picture was supposed to come smothered in cheese and barbecue sauce (have a look at the pictures), what I got was absolute slop and a bargain at almost £13!. These meals come part cooked so how can they get it so wrong? Filthy toilets, disinterested staff and not so delightful locals that treat the place as their local boozer. Spent almost twenty six pounds for 2 plates of absolute slop and the constant foul language of the local gentry. Never again!

Went here on Sunday the 26th of May and went for a Sunday lunch all the staff was lovely but lenesha was amazing an absolute gem. She had no problem answering questions about the menu and was very kind to keep running back and forth for things I was asking for. Would come back here for food again as it was all amazing

Ate breakfast,lunch and dinner here on various days, mid week and weekend. Food was always good, with large portions.Popped in just for drinks too, on every occasion the staff were all very friendly and attentive - despite being short staffed.Very convenient next to the Premier Inn and good value.

Visited here with my Two children. Was nervous due to restrictions changing but was no need as everything was super professional there. The manager, Jay, ensured we knew where everything was situated and dealt with us swiftly and efficiently. Will 100% return.

Worst experience today & been coming here for years. Had the sausage mash and Yorkshire found a piece of red plastic ( looked like piece of a nail ) inside my sausage . Told the waitress she was totally not bothered. Put me off coming back.

As you would expect from this brand, great food and drink served with a smile. The hard working team were coping well with the extra demands of Covid-19. We enjoyed two breakfasts and an evening meal and consistently delivered.

My husband and I were put up in this hotel from 2 March 2020 til 6 March for work - we work together and were up there (from Cornwall) to deal with all the flooding that South Wales has experienced in recent months. When we arrived, we were welcomed by David at reception who is a really nice guy; warm and friendly. We had a room already booked by our workplace but when I asked if we could move to a different room he did not hesitate to accommodate us. We worked hard all day so looked forward to a decent meal and a relaxing evening and the staff at the restaurant were all just brilliant - they greeted us cheerfully when we went in for breakfast and dinner and were very attentive and quite friendly. Tom, who we saw every night, was a star as was Kate and Ryan . Fay, the manageress, could not have been nicer. Thank you so much for the After Eights! ;) All the girls and guys who work there were just fantastic, super hard-working people! The food was tasty, everything we had we liked. The chicken and bacon Caesar Salad is delicious and I ordered the jalapeno poppers every single night! *lol* Gorgeous Macaroni Bites too - yum! On Thurs, we were asked by our job if we would work another week based in Cardiff which we agreed to IF we could stay at this same hotel! Our work agreed and we asked David if we could just book the same room for the next week. He said it was no problem so we went back home to Cornwall on Friday night and then returned again to Cardiff on Sun. When we returned, David and the restaurant staff all greeted us like old friends and we felt happy and most welcome. Again we worked another week, eating in the restaurant every morning and night and there were enough choices on the menu that we didn't get bored! After our 2nd week there, our work AGAIN asked us if we could return to work in Cardiff and again we agreed if they could book the same hotel which they did. So once again I asked David if we could have our same room when we returned which was no problem. So, in our 3rd week there, we were treated like old friends. Once again, everyone was fantastic and even managed to remain upbeat in the face of the Coronavirus outbreak. The staff worked very hard deep-cleaning the restaurant but still managed a smile through it all. We left yesterday (Thurs) and I believe the restaurant closed today (Friday) due to the outbreak. My heart goes out to them all. I hope everything works out and I wish them all the best.

I’m not local but due to working in this area I dropped by for an evening meal and a first impression of this restaurant was definitely given by the two members of staff Taylor and Ryan. Within being welcomed into the restaurant to then being hoped a good night these two members of staff did everything to make my experience worth while! They were involved with other customers by simple conversations, and it was very good to see them both work well as a team as many restaurants I go to (as I travel for work) seem to have staff who are very restricted and quiet whereas this restaurant is completely different which I much prefer! I hope to return as this restaurant is a must! Thanks again to Taylor and Ryan

Met friends here for a catch-up and evening meal. The service was good and portion size fair. Not too busy a place so we got a table easy and good atmosphere for chatting. The food all came quickly and we enjoyed our meals. The prices are good.

After spending a night at heh adjacent Premier Inn we went for breakfast at Brewers Fayre. The offerings are of course the standard range that you’d expect in any hotel although table ordered rather than from a buffet. All cooked excellently with the usual accompanying options such as cereal, crossings and toast etc. The main reason for reviewing this visit though is Daniel. Perfect service throughout. No rushing, attentive and welcoming. Breakfast can set you up for a day (and we have a long one ahead driving to Glasgow) receiving great service too has got us starting off in the most perfect way. Thanks.

Solo un rápido agradecimiento a James, el gerente y su increíble equipo, apareció para desayunar esta mañana, y la elección que me dieron para la comida de la mañana fue superflua. Después de algunas horas visitando algunos de los sitios que Cardiff tenía para ofrecer, me retiré a este establecimiento en particular, principalmente para escapar del viento y la lluvia. A mi regreso, me dieron la bienvenida nuevamente. Gracias James (impresionado de que me recordaras). 10/10 visitará este refugio seguro nuevamente.PD. La revisión tardía significaba llegar a esto antes, cenamos aquí en Navidad y fue fabuloso. La comida era deliciosa, entrantes, asado (un montón!) Y postre. Todo el personal era encantador y, a pesar del hecho de que estaban trabajando el día de Navidad, todos estaban alegres y no podían hacer lo suficiente por ti. El lugar tenía un ambiente navideño encantador, galletas en la mesa e incluso una tarjeta de Navidad del personal. Buscando volver este año.

Always reasonable prices and always great food, can't fault this place. Visited many times over the years and it keeps getting better

Had the haddock and chips. The Haddock was decent but the chips were of poor quality. The meal overall was average quality. Hardly anybody was dining. When we left around 21:00 only another three people were dining.

Typical pub grub but with very good service. A few issues one including missing my email listing the orders as we were a large group. All meals were given as buy one get one free. Member of the groups mixed grill was forgotten but this again was taken off the bill. Decent size portions and all enjoyed what they had ordered. Worth a visit.

The staff made our Christmas party a memorable one. Seemless service and great food, they were just so well organised! 15 of us couldn't have asked for more! Oh, we even had Christmas crackers and balloons decorating the table.

The brewers fayre has excellent staff and fantastic food when we stayed at the premier inn.

Stayed at the Premier inn and booked breakfast here, cannot complain, I thought the scramble eggs were just right as were all the other items at the buffet as well as the vegetarian sausages my wife ordered. Although the place was busy with families the staff were friendly and kept all items well stocked and never rushed us us to finish our breakfast. Thought the visit of father Christmas a very nice touch, we saw very happy children opening presents, well done to all, especially Taylor & Jenessa for looking after us that morning

Usually, when in London I'll usually dine at a beefeater or other restaurant because we do not seem to have any close brewers fayres I can honestly say I didn't have a bad experience. Minus one incident on our second night but, I let that slide. The one person that did stand out in my mind was tom. His customer service skills are amazing and he had banter with the me. Example letting him choose the gin cause I'm to indecisive but overall made the experience.

He estado en Brewers Fayre un par de veces en el pasado y decidí cenar para almorzar y ponerme al día con un amigo. ¡Nunca he tenido un problema con las comidas que sirven, ya que mi favorito de todos los tiempos es el pollo sofocado! Mi amiga tenía el eglefino con patatas fritas que le encantó! ¡Incluso nos deleitamos con los brownies de chocolate! Durante nuestra estancia, la camarera del restaurante Taylor fue muy animada y burbujeante. Tom, our resident server/barman was awesome as always, weve actually had him the last few times we've been and he always goes above and beyond.

Came for the Halloween party on Saturday must say Taylor and Jen did extremely well to keep the kids entertained with games, dancing and loads of laughter. The kids really enjoyed it we all stayed for food as we normally do on a Wednesday and Saturday, the food was lovely, the staff amazing as usual we really can not fault any of them. The children know all the staff by name and it’s nice to relax, enjoy good food and not have to stress over the children playing or making a little bit of noise. Can honestly say this is a great place with a great team and I can’t thank you all enough for making us feel so welcome.

Me, my partner and 3 Children were staying at the Premier Inn next door so decided to eat our evening meal here on a Sunday tea time (20/10/19). On arrival we were greeted by a lovely chap who made us feel very welcome. The Restaurant was nice and clean and we were sat on a nice big table, so we werent under each others feet. The food arrived really quickly once ordered and it was really nice. Even the kids finished it all. Im not sure what the guy was called who server us etc but hes a real credit to the premier inn. We will defo return in the near future.

This is standard Brewer's Fayre, no gourmet grub but neither is it going to kill you nor break the bank. The food is all cooked fresh and is neatly presented. All the standard pub classics, burgers and grills.

We had a Charity Bingo night at Boomerang cardiff and we are around the corner from the venue. I emailed the manager and mentioned some of the ladies were thinking about popping in on the way home for some food and Afew drinks. The manager was great and offered to extend the set menu for us. 15 of us came over. Nothing was too much trouble, the food was lovely and atmosphere was great too.

Came for Sunday lunch with my family and I have to say we were all very impressed. Great value for money. Carvery was hot and tasty, and the roasties and yorkie puds were to die for. All in all a very pleasant dining experience. Kids loved the deserts. Myself and my family will definitely be returning.

Needed somewhere local to where our daughter was settling for Uni and this place came up in the search.

Convenient for the Premier Inn next door but that’s about it. Ambience is dingy with swearing drunk locals and sticky tables. Hardly welcoming. Ignored at the bar more than once but the serving staff were pretty friendly. The starters were embarrassing. Some luke warm mushroom mush poured over some toast and some scampi in a bowl. No finesse, no garnish. Grim. The mains were better but cold peas are not appetising. Interestingly the breakfast was much better. I wouldn’t recommend an evening meal here to anyone.

Nice food and the service was outstanding, very friendly too and for the price of 2 4 £8 monday to friday until 6 you really cant go wrong.

I regularly visit this restaurant for breakfast or coffee and can highly recommend it. There is a good variety of food and the staff are very friendly and welcoming - particularly Ace who I have had the pleasure of being served by many times. This restaurant is located next to a Premier Inn, hence why we (family of 6) had breakfast there on two days, could not face the third day, despite paying in advance, as the breakfast and facilities where so disgusting. Sloppy raw scrambled eggs, beans swimming in juice, mixing with the scrambled egg.. brought to the table for my husband on a little round plate - looked so unpalatable we could not even bear to look at it, it looked like vomit. Stale pastries, strange tasting water, claggy sticky tables, filthy cloth chairs. Outside, workmen, who were staying at the hotel, from late afternoon getting drunk. Beer buckets overflowing with water and cigarette buts outside, along with rubbish. While we were there the police were called, I assume because of the drunks outside...why they kept serving them speaks volumes about the standards of the place. AVOID...unless you are a workman who likes to get ??$$??

Went on a saturday morning for the buffet breakfast which includes continental breakfast ,cooked breakfast and unlimited tea or coffee at the cost of £8.99 per person. If your not a fan of cooked breakfast you can just pay for continental breakfast at a lower price . Food is good ,well cooked and refilled often . You wont leave there hungry!

We were provided with a room at the premier inn and meals at brewers fayre by Thomas cook as our flight to Turkey was cancelled until the next day. The staff were absolutely brilliant they reserved loads of tables for our arrival (as there was a lot of us on the flight) they had several staff to take the food and drink orders so no one was waiting. One of the party it was their 30th birthday and the staff brought out prosecco and cake. They really made a bad situation not so bad. The food was really nice as well. Can't thank them enough for finishing off a bad day on a positive note

My partner,daughter and I went for breakfast twice this week . Both times we were served by Ace. She was amazing especially with our daughter who celebrated her bday yesterday so Ace made her a special bday muffin . It was thoughtful and a lovely gesture which my daughter loved ! The hot breakfast was tasty and well cooked. And the continental was vast and a good choice.we eat out often in our local area and ace honestly is the best host we have come across and is a real credit to the brewers fayre.

We go to the Brewers fayre at least twice a week simply because the staff are amazing so friendly they can never do enough for you even down to carrying your drinks to the table and offering to get you refills they are also amazing with the kids always make time to talk to them and play with them the children look forward to there Saturdays down at the brewers fayre so much that it’s called sat club on top of all this the food is very gd aswell always comes out lovely and hot and looks good on the plate and tastes just as good so would like to thank all the staff for making out visits so welcoming and fun with good food would recommend to everyone with or without children

Vinimos aquí por un fin de semana con algunos amigos, la comida era perfecta. Las bebidas recargables es una buena cosa para tener. ¡Vine aquí en el día para un domingo asado y fue uno de los mejores que he tenido en mucho tiempo! Ace es un gracioso personal de bar y camarera, nada que no sea un problema para ella. Además, todo el personal era tan encantador que nada era demasiado para todos ustedes. We stayed at the Premier Inn next door over Father’s Day weekend and we dined here for Father’s Day Breakfast and lunch. The place was packed at breakfast but there was a wide selection of foods and everything was fresh and hot. The kids ate for free too so that was nice. We met family at lunch time to have carvery and we all really enjoyed, it was lovely. Thank you.

Phenomenal service from the staff, completely ignored my friend and I sat at the Carlong pump for ten minuets, served every other Tom dick and Harry.

Ace stood out with great kindness and friendly service. The breakfasts were, as usual, great. Unfortunately, our evening meal could have been a lot better. Cold chips, dry potatoes and quiche, no toffee in sticky toffee pudding!

Tired and dated.needs refurbishment. Food not good or hot enough. Would eat out. Staff however were excellent and friendly.

I am a frequent user of ocean park I loves the food, I loves the beer but most of all I love the staff. Particularly Taylor, Paula, Jenessa (unicorn) and Katie and Dan I love Dan (devils till we die).

I came down to cardiff with my family for a day out and decided to stop at your restaurant for a meal. The staff were very welcoming especially the young lady Taylor who stood out and made our meal more enjoyable with her bubbly personality.

También la chica rubia muy burbujeante en el desayuno, el personal aquí debe ser reconocido!

La semana pasada fue la primera vez que cené en Brewer's Fayre. La ocasión fue cenar fuera con amigos, pero la mayoría de nosotros nos quedamos decepcionados con la comida. Me sorprendió especialmente cuando pedí el gofre belga para el postre y el gofre estaba congelado. Mi amigo también ordenó el ratón limón, que parecía más sorbete porque también estaba congelado.

Had a great three course meal here today x had soup chicken tikka and a cake this is one of the best meals I have had in a while.we had no complaints at all.the whole family ate they meal and really enjoyed it.we thought we would have no room for dessert but after looking at the dessert menu we thought lets have dessert.i cant say how fresh the food was the kids enjoyed their chips which my son never eats chips but he said they was the best.the pub is well kept and clean and couldn't find any faults.the staff was amazing and the manager she was great they all made us feel welcome thank you all for making our visit amazing we will be back soon.as this pub is so nice and welcoming and clean thank you for the nice meal to will give you 10 star.see you soon

I eat here most lunch times. It's only a 5 minute walk, so really handy to get to.

I stayed at the premier inn for one night ,and had a meal in the brewers fayre.I asked at the bar if I could have the cobb salad, only to be told we do not do the cobb salad it is off the menu.When I pointed out that it was in the American section , of the menu i was told oh yes. POOR WHEN THE STAFF DO NOT KNOW WHICH DISHES ARE ON OR OFF THE MENU .The bacon tasted like it had just come out of the freezer, very cold . No one came to ask if my meal was ok minimum,check backs should be done five minutes after the guest have received their meal.I had to attract the waitress attention to tell her about my meal, she came up plonked down my plate . Not even a smile or an apology Poor customer service.

Visited here as staying in Premier Inn for two days. Morning and evening staff were very friendly and polite. Food was nice on both occasions in the evening. Breakfast is cooked to order with continental available.

Breakfast on first morning was relatively cold. It was ok on second day but not available until fifteen minutes later than it should have been. Gents toilets wer absolutely disgusting. Needed toilet at breakfast time could not use due to flush not work8ng and toilet heavily soiled. The same toilet was in exactly the same condition at ten oclock that evening.

Visited with a friend for the 2 meals for £8.99 and what great value for money..I had smothered Chicken, with a mountain of chips, salad, coleslaw and garlic bread, and my friend had the Gammon with 2 eggs, salad and again plenty of chips, and we couldn't finish our meals. We will be returning again soon.

Stayed in the premier inn next door as a base camp for a stag do (only 5 of us) stayed for two night and we ended up eating breakfast and evening meals in here. Food was lovely, good quality and portion size and reasonably priced. Big shout out and thank to Ryan and Jenessa behind the bar, great atmosphere and thank you for helping us With Max.

Staying at the excellent premier inn next door as we have done on several times before. Went for a drink early evening but there was no beer (bitter) available despite it being early on a Saturday. Booked for an evening meal. Lots of things were unavailable due to an upcoming menu change. All three of or meals were ok but none came with onion rings, as per the menu presumably out if stock. No mentioned made or apology. Overall very disappointing.
